You're not selfish when you do something with you in mind first. ⁣ ⁣ You NEED to put yourself first. ⁣ ⁣ We preach the "fill your cup before you fill others," ⁣ ⁣ But it's hard when we grow up in a world where we're conditioned to take care of others - to make sure others are happy. ⁣ ⁣ Especially m3n. ⁣ ⁣ They're taught from young ages that their "job" is to take care of and provide for wom3n. ⁣ ⁣ In 2016 I moved into my house where my [now] husband and his two roommates lived. That time we got married at the National Aquarium in Baltimore. Happy anniversary to my husband! I don't post about my husband much, but these photos perfectly depict our relationship. Just me?? 🤔 If you asked me to take a shot for how many times I've seen or heard, "Just feel your feelings!" I'd die. Literally. Everyone talks about it, but nobody talks about WTF it means. So, we're breaking it down. Four simple steps. The biggest thing to remember is that FEELINGS ARE NOT ICKY. The whole "ew, feelings" isn't attractive anymore. What's attractive is someone who knows how to process their feelings so they don't project onto others. What's attractive is someone who knows how to identify where their feelings are rooted so they can work on the triggers. It's time to feel. It's time for compassion. It's time to love. UNPOPULAR OPINION: We're focused too much on the word "healing." (I feel so many people going 😤😤😤 right now.) HERE ME OUT 👇🏼 Broken things heal. And they're never the same after that. In fact, they can break even easier the next time they're put in a tough or fragile situation. But us? We're NOT broken. Thus, we don't NEED to heal. 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 I blew my own mind when I had this revelation, Because I've talked for two years+ about my own "healing journey!" So, what TF do we actually do instead?! We consciously choose to take our experiences and EVOLVE. EXPAND. Our minds. Our bodies. Our hearts. Our consciousness. But only if we choose. A broken bone is going to heal almost regardless. But we have to CHOOSE to evolve and expand. It's also why you don't need anyone to save you. (Another unpopular opinion in this society) Because you have the tools to save your damn self.
