The topic is rotating in my brain.

MafuEmu ship is not toxic.

I've heard that before and I've seen their arguments. So, with canon lore, let me debunk their biggest reason:

Emu is Scared of Mafuyu

Tell me you don't know the game without telling me telling me.

Emu is scared of Mafuyu's MASK. Ya know? The thing all people have a version of, but is 99% more common in Autistic people?

See, Emu canonically shows signs of being an empath. Being able to feel other peoples emotions, know how their feeling. So when Mafuyu strolls up with her big ass fake smile to lie about everything being alright, Emu is pit in a place of "do i trust my gut with how she's feeling, or do i trust the words I hear?". Because everyone fell for that mask. Even the rest of Nightcord. Something is wrong, and she isn't sure what.

Emu also canonically KNOWS when Mafuyu's smile becomes genuine. And when she sees the real smiles, she becomes extremely happy to see it.

Which do you think is healthier: masking in front of 99% of the world, almost never stopping and almost always doing so at home too, or being in a relationship where you literally end up with cues to help you unlearn hiding everything.

Also, Emu has stated many times in different materials for the game that she "will make Asahina-Senpai smile". Emu canonically would do anything to make that fake smile leave. And to an extent, we've seen the tame stuff.

Emu would be SO DOWN to help Mafuyu learn emotions again. She would be thrilled. Her whole reason for being in WxS was SPREAD GENUINE SMILES. WxS was FOUNDED on that dream.

In return, Mafuyu can be terrifying. You insult, upset, anger her girl? Good luck not getting a horror movie smile from her.

I cannot tell you how often I hear people say that they're toxic because of that in particular. I wanna say 33% of fans.

An isn't gonna keep being clingy with Kohane because shes scared and jealous, Mafuyu isnt gonna keep being emotionless and still doesnt know who she is, Toya isnt gonna keep being controlled by his dad and remember the past, Mizuki isn't gonna keep hiding forever, Emu isnt gonna keep sulking about phoenix wonderland , shizuku isnt gonna keep that perfect mask, shiho isnt still gonna be hard on herself and others, honami isnt gonna be a people pleaser forever, Saki isnt gonna keep being lonely and finally live the youth she wanted for a long time, tsukasa isnt gonna keep being narcissistic and is finally gonna be a star, Rui isn't gonna leave wxs and be lonely again, ena isnt still gonna be hard on herself because of art, akito isn't gonna keep giving up and being stubborn while being scared he'll lose everything, Nene and Kohane aren't gonna keep being shy and they're gonna actually stand up for themselves, Ichika isnt gonna rely on the Virtual singers for help anymore, airi isnt gonna be an outcast anymore, haruka is gonna be known more than just an idol and finally get her life back, Minori is gonna become an idol, what she truly wanted, and Kanade is finally gonna be able to have a perfect health and she's not gonna NOT save mafuyu.

Don't the events show that they're finally improving and moving on?

They're not gonna go depressed or suicidal or Mafuyuify whatever...

They're finally moving forward. And i think that's what everyone should appreciate

!!!! tw mentions of ed's, abuse, & suicide !!!!!!! The pjsk fandom is certainly odd and the game itself definitely doesn't have the cleanest track record, but one of my favorite things about pjsk is how much representation there is, and how well they accurately portrayed things such as bullying, ED's, suicide ideation, neglect, chronic illnesses, emotional abuse, etc. And they wrote each character's problems and backstories so well, it's why I hate it when people clown on the stories. Even when multiple characters deal with the same hardships, pjsk wrote each character so they coped with their problems in different ways; Rui and Mizuki both got bullied, and Rui learned to move on so he could be happy while Mizuki actively continues to keep everyone at an arms length. Ena, Akito, Emu and Tsukasa are all the products of neglect by their families and cope in different ways. (Exp; Tsukasa and Emu chose to bottle up their feelings and put on masks of happiness while Ena and Akito are both prone to outlashes of anger due to it.) Toya and Mafuyu were both forced to peruse paths that their parents chose for them and only with the help of their friends were they able to break free from those expectations placed on them by their families, the only difference being that Toya learned to peruse what he wanted to do early on in life while Mafuyu didn't. Haruka and Kanade both have eating disorders, while Haruka's is a result of the toxic standards in the idol industry while Kanade's is the result of her prioritizing her work over her well-being. I think the pjsk stories are so well written and accurately shed light on more sore subjects in a way other media wasn't able too

Chapter 1 Part 9; Ending Animatic

Not really sure how videos work on Tumblr! But here's the chapter 1 ending animatic! It's a bit rough around the edges and kind of old, but I'm glad to get this out!! :)

Plot Summary: (Very long bear with me) In the beginning all the characters are seenheading to (hopefully) their end goal destinations and safe spots! Rui and Nene arrive at the rooftop and Mizuki runs over, asking what the plan is. Rui explains that they plan to head to Rui's house and then group departs. They end up at the front of school where Rui becomes nervous. Mizuki reassures Rui that they'll all be fine and the group heads off onto the streets. Nene, who is farther behind gets attacked by a zombie whilst running. Mizuki finds a spare pistol and gets rid of the zombie. They then help Nene up and the group resumes running through the city, collecting any spare weapons they find. Once they reach Rui's house, Mizuki pulls everyone into a group hug and cheers.

The 1-A class heads to the gym, and upon arrival, Minori checks the gym to see if it is all clear. The group heads inside and attempts to find weapons. Shiho finds a bat, then notices a zombie heading towards Minori and Kohane. She panics and instead of swinging the bat, she throws it at the zombies head, leaving everyone in shock. After, the trio exits the gym, where Shiho notices Saki and Ichika trying to climb the school walls. Saki and Ichika rush over to Shiho and they all are relieved to know the other is okay. They are then interrupted by Airi, who is stuck on the rooftop, and she shouts for incoming danger. A zombie lunges at them and seperate them. Ichika and Saki run off and Shiho calls out to them but is then approached by another zombie. Kohane pulls Shiho away and they run towards Minori. Once Kohane and Shiho make it inside Minori closes the door, and the group celebrates their successful mission.The scenes then quickly switch between various groups. An and Akito break into Weekend Garage. Tsukasa helps Toya with a sprained arm. Shizuku assures Airi that everything will be okay. Honami prepares a weapon while Mafuyu and Emu do their shenanigans. Ichika and Saki are shown to had fled the school, and are now running through the city. Shiho, Minori, and Kohane make it back to the classroom and set down their weapons. Nene is shown to wake up from a nap (she quickly passed out after all the running) and askes Mizuki if they could cut her hair (due to the earlier zombie encounter). Then a brief montage of all the characters in their new environments. Nene's hair is shown to be cut and the animatic ends.

My mafuemu brain cannot not get the image of emu being the first person to make mafuyu laugh like uncontrollably out of my head

Like I’m thinking maybe just so happens that mafuyu is watching one of the night shows or something and idk some stunt emu does goes wrong but in a funny way no harm really done but falls like flat on her face in front of mafuyu and she just bursts out laughing and cannot stop

And that like shocks Emu and first cause like always mafuyu hasn’t realised what she’s just done but like this is better than getting a kiss from her cause “HOLY SHIT I MADE HER ACTUALLY SMILE. NOT JUST THAT FUCKING LAUGH. UNCONTROLLABLY”
