Finally put my pin collection in a display case. It was immensely pleasing organizing them.

Have a handful left over, which means it's time to buy another case and allow myself to get more pins again. (These are mostly from conventions and Kickstarters.)

i was thinking of the strip in which italy loses the iron cross given to him by germany today. it was a bit of a throwaway gag but the necklace always remained in a lot of fanart as a representation of their friendship and bond. i think it’s cute, but even italy losing the damn thing aside, it doesn’t have much of an appropriate application or use in modern day settings.

though the iron cross predates WWII and isn’t technically an offensive symbol on its own (i most commonly see it being used by punks and other self identifying anti-conformist subcultures) it’s also likely still used as a dog whistle in conjunction with other things. it just doesn’t work beyond WWII settings in my opinion.

i’ve thought that maybe modern-day germany could give italy a new necklace, removed from any symbology related to nationality or pacts/alliances and instead related to their own humanity and friendship. the regular cross/crucifix is an obvious choice, because it is commonly worn by men (catholic and otherwise) and can be an understated design. but it lacks a more personal meaning.

beyond that, germany sometimes lacks taste (tomato ring?? i mean it’s cute but like wtf) so we can only hope that maybe he bought something italy was already eyeing or got help from romano. perhaps he’d think it was too personal of a gift to give and instead opted for something like a rosary. he’s a sucker for acts of service and gift-giving, i feel like he just wants to adorn him in all sorts of pretty and/or practical things.

unless we’re talking about established gerita. i think germany would propose with a ring that compliments the undertones of italy’s skin, but wedding rings are an entirely separate can of worms. collars too.

every year in mid to late april I'm suddenly, violently reminded of the glorious 25th of may, when the lilacs start to bloom from one day to the other

And each year I see them and remember, and I feel the need to wear one, that sudden yearning and pain, until I remember that the glorious 25th of may isn't for another month yet

It does mean though that I can imagine quite well how Vimes feels on the day when he notices the lilacs and remembers that it's time to wear it

Are there lyrics/songs that you would love to make a pin for but don't know how to portray it in pin form? (What are they? Why do you think it's so hard to design? Do you have any vague ideas of design and what are they?)

ohhh ya. i recently drew out some art for yule shoot your eye out that is not directly inspired by the lyrics (just the vibe of the song) and i realised after drawing it i have no idea how to turn it into a pin. i have a clear idea for artwork inspired my 'i'm both the killer and the final girl' from you first by paramore but i think itd be too big for a pin, at least a pin at the size i like to make them. ruminating on a companion piece to possibly be pinnable, i was thinking a knife held like a mirror but. im not sure. rose coloured boy is one i had an idea for but i dont think its gonna be executable. i am still thinking about a horseshoe crab (the guy) pin and what i want to do with it.

there are specific lyrics that are hard for me that id love to pinify but i cant think of them right now. 'we need umbrellas on the inside' is one that i have an idea for but it feels like it might be cluttered. i often have ideas that i think would be good but i think about them and i think about drawing them and i realise how hard to execute it would be as an enamel particularly with my 2 inch and under limiy.
