Inazuma Japan Appreciation Post! ⚡️

Hello, I was wondering, but is there anyone in the fandom who's also a fan of the japanese representative?

I know that out of Block A they aren't the most popular team, but I can't deny I've been so interested on them. Their only relevance was on episode 102, when Red Matador goes to visit them for a practice match. The whole episode was focused on the team getting massive culture shock from all things japanese, that they accidentally forgot to give actual screentime to the actual selection. You can even compile it in a quick video! (Excuse some of the odd cuts, the spanish wouldn't stop commenting every two seconds 🤪)

Unfortunately after this episode they never get to appear again, which sucks a lot knowing captain Endou's promise of a rematch :(

I'm also not the biggest fan of how the fandom treats this team. Every so often I'll see people making fanarts of Orpheus and Unicorn yet leaving Inazuma Japan behind, and the amount of times I've seen people call them ugly is frustrating. Their designs aren't the best but come on, you just can't look at Sakuma and not think that's a top tier design.

The treatment from the japanese themselves is super weird too. I understand having your main representation be PENGUINS is strange, and to this day I'll forever wonder what Quinto Nivel was thinking while designing some of the characters (One has dreads and other has donut lips...). But I dislike that the only time they seem to aknowledge this team's existence, is only to use their pictures whenever irl Japan wins a match :/

So as to change this, I'll make some comments on them! Feel free to share yours below, too!

The most relevant players on this team are the keeper, Endou, and the trio that perform the hissatsu Koutei Penguin Nº3; composed of Kidou, Fudou and Sakuma.

I can't deny that on the few scenes he appears, Endou gave me the impression of being cocky. But after the match its shown he's quite the nice guy! I really wish we could have seen the dynamic with his team, I think he'd be friendly with all of them.

Also, wonder why his hissatsu is called "The Hand" is there's no actual hand on the first place. YOU HAD ONE JOB QUINTO NIVEL!!! Seriously!

Kidou is a character that's sorrounded in mystery, and the fact that this is his only appearance stresses me so much. Maybe he's a showoff? I dobut it, because he seemed too nervous over something. Maybe its the upcoming final match against Orpheus, and with a reason. Both teams got eliminated off screen :(

Also, Nº3? I know that later on the series we're shown that Brockenborg knows some Penguin Moves, but only the Nº2. There's also the in-game Nº1, which Jens and Sakuma seem to have. Can't deny the description for this move scares me, as it calls it "forbidden". Yet another plothole left unanswered! When I get to write a fic about InaJapan, I will make sure to adress that.

Either way, Kidou and the other two seem to be super close, just like our beloved Slingshot trio. I also can picture them having a similar origin: Sakuma and Kidou have a close relationship though were rivals with Fudou at some point, who'd start to warm up to them as they played the FFI together. Classic.

There's also this one manager that seems to be very keen on recording Red Matador. His name is Megane, apparently! It's never explained why he records Spain, but unfortunately we never get to see him use the information he got.

AND WAIIIT I ALMOST FORGOT SOMEOKA!! He's iconic to me because of his manga cameo. Even if he was there just to be Juan's 100th catch, I'm happy the two got on well at the end. Do you imagine what could happen if the teams were swapped? I like Samuel, but there's no way in hell he'd be like that to Endou...

I really want to ship him with someone, and all the 5 fanarts I've seen on Pixiv ship him with this one bencher called Fubuki. Dunno why but I APPROVE! 😍

I guess I could also comment on Tobitaka since he stops Joan's move. He has a nice hair. I think he'd be one of those people who REALLY puts a lot of love to it. His appearance also reminds me of the stereotypical japanese delincuent (Clever choice!), so I like the headcanon of him having a gang back at Japan.

One last thing, but shoutout to the female managers!!! THEY'RE ARE SO CUTEEEEEE 😭 Outside of Spain and Germany we don't get to see other managers in the FFI, so knowing the japanese do have some too is comforting. If only we knew their names...

(The scenes with them and Isaac were rather awkward, however. I also wish Virgina was here to intereact with them instead, but oh well, she had to visit her cousins anyway)

I sometimes wish there was an alternate universe were these three had more relevance... What if there was an entire trilogy centered about Endou instead? I'd gladly go there if it existed.

I've heard rumours of my city's obelisk hosting a plant-alien thingy that can transport me to another dimension, but I'm not sure how it works. Guess I'll pay it a visit today.

Character Reference Sheet: Kaze Mitsuki

“The cards read that something’s troubling you, why don’t we take a walk to ease your mind?”

Kaze Mitsuki, A former student in Teikoku Gakuen who transferred in Raimon after her first year in the latter. A soccer player at heart yet supressed because of the tournament rules in which only boys are allowed to participate. Currently fulfilling her role as a manager and trainer to some, Kaze’s methods may be questionable but the results are magnificent.

Outside of the field and duties as manager, Kaze enjoys reading the cards for herself and others. Oftentimes the cards tell vague messages that would soon unfold, that some would think that their manager can see the future. Aside from the arcane, she also has a knack for multimedia arts. From painting to graphic designing, she got it all! Perhaps due to this multitalented tendencies that her major weakness is her inability to master anything, akin to the saying that goes ‘jack of all trades, master of none but oftentimes better than master of one’.

Her close friends are the managers, though she does struggle to befriend everyone, Kaze does her best to make sure everyone is included in everything. Though her favorite person just GOT to be the person with a similar name: Kazemaru Ichirouta. Oh how comedic their dynamic was at first, though thanks to Endou and his ability to pull people in, Kaze felt comfortable to interact with Kazemaru in a more friendly manner this time (because staring intensely does not work at all).

AAAAAA FINALLY I GOT TO DRAW MY OCSONAAAA 🥹 i love her very much, and her main romantic interest is Kazemaru Ichirouta, ship name is KazeKaze (very silly and iconic). I enjoyed creating my own watermark + mascot too 🥹💕

1: My favorite and least favorite character:

It's gotta be Midorikawa easy. I didn't care much for his Reize character when he was first introduced tbh but his real personality in the FFI won me over and every episode I was literally just waiting for his screentime LMAO. I think his low self confidence in his abilities is definitely relatable and all of the Aliea kids backstories are actually like, super tragic? I wish the series dove into it more but alas my boy got dropped mid season. I STILL LOVE HIM.

For least favorite character I'm not sure if this is a hot take but like. Everytime Asuto came on screen I was just super uninterested in whatever was going on in Ares/Orion. His mom dying in the first episode felt really out of place? Like me and my sister were just kinda like "um so this is happening I guess?" And throughout the rest of the series he just feels like a watered down Endou or Tenma, it just feels like he wasn't connected to the main plot and he just kinda shows up at the end, holds everyone's hands and sings kumbaya. I didn't feel like he was really connected to his team and involved with them, if that makes sense. That's for Ares though, I didn't get through Orion so if his character actually changed a great deal then lmk.

7. What is your favourite ship?:

HIROMIDO CLEARED MY SKIN WATERED MY CROPS PARTED THE CLOUDS yeah I really like them. Where were you when the Inazuma SD comic confirmed they were Kariya's dads I mean guardians. The pairing that makes the most sense in my opinion and that they equally support each other in both IE3 and GO. So glad they invented gay people.

Favourite intro and outro:

Intro: uhhh this is a hard one because there's so many good ones but for now I'll say either OP 4 of the original IE or OP 1 of GO. They did not miss with these ones the vibes are immaculate.

ED 3 of original IE, Ryuusei Boy changed millions of lives. They were all mine. I remember watching S2 for the first time and some crazy shit would happen and then this ending plays and I'd be like hmmmm yes this is the show im gonna be obsessed with huh. So iconic they put it in Victory Road, fun fact! I think it plays a credits cutscene after defeating the hardest team in the demo idk.

finally. the gouenji post where i rate his looks (soccer and school uniforms excluded).

gouenji is the face of the franchise along with endou and kidou, he has his own manga spinoff, and he's regularly elected as a fan favourite in every popularity contest.

canonically, gouenji has a huge fanclub of girls rooting for him and it's definitely not only because soccer.

so why is he so popular ?

well mostly because he's non verbal most of the time (girls love boys who can shut up), he makes bomb ass takoyaki, and he's also very handsome. but are his clothes helping or is he THAT handsome ? let's find out.

ah, the OG season 1 classic. the first ever outfit. he looks great. orange is as much his color as it is endou's, it suits him very well. we already know gouenji is careful with his looks, since he canonically spikes his hair every morning, and now, we can be sure the fucker knows how to dress himself. he knows how to make colors match, he even matches the sunset. truly unparalleled.

if kazemaru didn't exist, i would have fell in love with him. 10/10

OG season 2. man i want that hoodie. i want it so much. it's as cool in the game as it is in the anime.

i really like how this outfit manages to hide him and completely reveal him at the same time. the orange color, the fucking saiyen hairstyle under the hood. this dumbass had to keep the spikes even though he knew he had to hide them under a fucking hoodie that would ruin his work. it's called dedication. 11/10

before moving on to GO, (where the problems lies mostly), let's talk about two out of category looks.

i love gouenji's looks in the games, especially the very first. he looks like a whole different character, way more rebellious and loudmouthed with his frosted tips, jet black eyes and eyebrows, unbuttoned jacket (we'll talk about those) and single earring. he looks very homosexual. 10/10

after the first game tho, they dropped the delinquent look and he got the inverted pikachu treatment, they made him rounder. a little saddened but not complaining, they kept the best features. 8/10

one day i'll talk about the orion endings in detph, with all the emotions they triggered in me. persisting in giving him a hood is funny though. 7/10

OK NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT GO.

the ishido shuuji outfit. iconic.

my man looks EXPENSIVE and that's great. i can see the first game gouenji in him. i cannot tell if he's gay or european. the raybans, the blood read suit, the slutty unbuttoned shirt, the jewelry, the kazemaru blue streaks iN his unspiked hair ! this outfit would cost me more than my day job monthly salary. he's living the life.

i can't buy him as a villain but i can buy him as a mean girl. 100/10

the concept art is as good as the final design. i do get why they didn't keep the spikes for this look. he would have looked a little too much like a gay broly. not a bad thing but understandably unpreferable.

his hair does look good unspiked but... where are the blue streaks. why is he suddely hiding his chest under three layes of clothing. gouenji darling you know warm colors suit you best so why the grey-blue-ish suit ? am i supposed to believe this is the real you ? i know it's not. i hope you find yourself. 4/10

OH BOY NEVERMIND WTF IS THIS.

wtf went through everybody's head while designing this. i get this is a way to mimic adult endou's charm but it does not work. gouenji isn't endou. you love endou because he's a very wholesome bundle of joy (voiced by naruto), and you love gouenji bc he is one half of the inazuma eleven equivalent of sasuke (kidou being the other half), you can't dress them the same way and not see the dissonance.

this man is not gouenji, this man buys cheap beers in the early afternoon without saying thank you to the cashier. this man pretends to be a metalhead. this man just divorced kanye. i would not trust him with my kids.

this is not a relaxed look, this is a sad, depressed look. please gouenji talk to someone. people love you. you can be helped. 0/10

conclusion : i don't know how they fucked up so bad at the end, they really made gouenji forgot about his hard-earned fashion skills. thank god he actually IS that handsome but before that he's all W after W. i'm eager to see him in victory road.

1: Favourite and least favourite character

Favourite is Kiyama Hiroto. His character is so interesting to me!! I can’t help but psychoanalyse him in literally every scene he appears in. He’s such an interesting and well developed character, especially in season 2.

I just love his arc in s2. Like you can TELL he’s a good person really but he also has a deep sense of duty/loyalty to Kira Seijirou (👎👎hate that guy) because of how he’s been manipulated. His character is so tragic because of this. The first time Genesis play raimon is so sad because hiroto just wants to play real football and have fun the way he sees Raimon doing but he can’t 😭😭😭. And then he accidentally injures Fubuki and obviously feels so guilty about it 😭😭😭

He’s also so dramatic for no reason I love it. Like he’ll suddenly disappear after talking to Endou, or when he literally jumped off a water tower when he stopped Nagumo from sneaking onto Raimon, or appeared on the roof when he stopped the Chaos vs Ramion match. He’s so iconic the entire way through.

I’m so sad we didn’t get more of him during s3 because he WENT THROUGH IT and you don’t get over that in 3 months.

Least favourite is Kozoumaru Sasuke. He tries to be Gouenji but he just isn’t 💀

7: favourite ship

Has to be hiromido. I just think they make a really nice pair. Also them together + adopting Kariya is everything to me. I wish we had some kind of content about them as a family, aside from the mini comic, because they’re so cute 😭😭

(Idk if fubuki counts as an orphan since he could have other family members but just know I am very much obsessed with him as well.)

Midorkiawa is my second fave confirmed orphan. He’s such a silly guy !!! But also what he goes through in s3 is so sad I wanna give him a hug. He’s so desperate to prove to himself he should be on the team and not fall behind that he destroys himself in the process 😭😭😭 They should have brought him back at some point in the finals he deserved it :(((

Honorary mentions to Suzuno and Nagumo. They’re such menaces I love them. Like in the dub when Suzuno says he’s going to “randomly destroy parts of Tokyo… for no reason.” Or the whole thing with Nagumo trying to get onto Raimon just because he felt like it.
