the biggest issue i have with Oblivion is that it killed off Geldall, Enman, and Ebel off screen before the game even starts.
like, in a world where it is an established fact that enough of the populace thinks that the princes are demonic imposters for there to be riots about it in the imperial capital, in a game whose plot is about putting the dead emperor's bastard son on the throne during a demonic invasion, the princes who are maybe demonic imposters should show up! they should be characters in that story! it is ridiculous that they're not characters in that story!

TES Fest - Free Day
There were a few days I missed during TES Fest because the ideas never made it from my head to the page (something that I'm a bit frustrated about; but June and July were Weird months, so one must cut oneself some slack).
So for the Free Day, I thought I'd share the rough synopsis of what they should have been. Maybe one day I'll manage to write them.
5 Aug - Beast - Modern AU I didn't have any inspiration for this one, except that it had to feature Pelagius, be slightly fluffier than the others, and illustrate his thrill-seeking behaviour.
8 Aug - Mortal - Modern AU, Post Crisis A trigger makes Baragon relive the moment the Mythic Dawn attacked Enman Septim's household, and the young man who gave his life for Baragon's. Aderyn shows up at his doorstep because she's injured herself, and while fixing her up, Baragon lays into her about being more careful. She doesn't understand why he's being more vehement than usual; the stoic Baragon opens up and explains.
9 Aug - Spiritual Ties - Devotion - Modern AU, Early Crisis Martin (Anglican) stumbles into the chapel at Cloud Ruler while Cyrus (Muslim) praying. They parallel-pray together, then have a short discussion about the Crisis and faith, with Cyrus offering words of comfort to the displaced Martin.
10 Aug - Blood - Modern AU, Post Crisis Martin has been invited to open the new Horticultural dept of a University, when it's attacked by eco-terrorists. Martin and half the Blades make it out, but Steffan, Roliand, and Aderyn do not. Roli and Aderyn manage to hide themselves as part of the crowd in what becomes a hostage situation, but Steffan stands out too much. The Terrorists' ire at missing their chance with Martin is redirected on Steffan - to near lethal results. Aderyn and Roli bicker briefly about what to do; Aderyn wins. She outs herself as Martin's 'daughter' and convinces the Terrorists to let everyone go but her. Roli stays with her, and they get to the root of the issue. While they're still on the inside, those on the outside are making furious phone calls to verify if what the Terrorists are accusing is true; and - because Roli and Aderyn's lives depend on it - fix it.
11 Aug - For Love and Honour - Sword - Modern AU, Post Crisis The crew go to a reenactment event, where there is an attempted kidnapping of Lena - Martin's PA and Caroline's girlfriend. The attempt is thwarted by our heroes, and Caroline looks damned good while playing Knight Errant.

Today is the 30th of Frostfall, Emperor's Day. This marks the birthday of Emperor Uriel Septim VII, may his reign last until one of his many worthy heirs (Ariella, Cassynder, Cephorus, Pelagius, Trabbatus, Uriel, Voragiel, Geldall, Enman, Ebel, Calaxes, and Martin) takes the throne.

Today is the 27th of Last Seed (art from TES Legends)
Tumblr media
“Emperor Uriel Septim VII is dead, at the age of 87, having ruled Tamriel for 65 years. He was killed by assassins unknown. At the same time, in separate locations, the late emperor's three sons and heirs (Crown Prince Geldall, 56; Prince Enman, 55; Prince Ebel, 53] were slain by other assassins…”

“But should the Dragonfires fail, and should no heir of our joined blood wear the Amulet of Kings, then shall the Empire descend into darkness.”

Random Lore I researched in detail
So I decided to do some digging cuz I got curious. How old was Martin Septim. And so I decided to do all the math (cuz Uriel has a crazy life, where would he be able to fit having an affair???) Anyway, I find that Martin is supposed to be born sometime after Uriel was rescued from oblivion (TES:Arena) which was 399 and then Oblivion starts at 433 so. Assuming the first thing he did when he came back was Gemile (Martin's mother) then Martin would be 33, which makes him 20 years younger than Ebelu, 22 years younger than Enman, and 23 years younger than Geldall. But of course, Uriel has another (and very public) illigitimate heir named Calaxes Septim but he was assassinated in 398 (which was when Jager was impersonating Uriel cuz he was stuck in oblivion) and it doesn't say when he was born but he has to be older than Geldall cuz he was leading a rebellion and I doubt someone would listen to a little tween (cuz when he died Geldall would have been 14 soooo, he was probably older than him) so Uriel had Geldall(the oldest prince) when he was 28. So Uriel became emperor at 22 and then had an illegitimate heir sometime after, Calaxes would be about 19 when died (assuming he was conceived right after Uriel became emperor) even a couple years later could make sense. Cuz I mean 17 to 19 are the angsty years so Calaxus died pretty young and since he was dragonborn he would have been ambitious which would also help make sense of how a mere teenager could lead a rebellion. So yeah. I'm still researching this in more depth (mostly because of my fanfiction) but I think I have a solid foundation so far

Did You Know: There was a conspiracy theory that Uriel Septim VII's children; Prince Geldall, Prince Enman and Prince Ebel, had been replaced by doppelgangers during Jagar Tharn's Simulacrum? This led to increased unrest in the Imperial City, and an angry mob demanding the destruction of Uriel's heirs having to be stopped by the Imperial Guard.
