#927
"Cupid's Errant Arrow" and "Strange Energies" are kind of similar episodes. Both consist of a girl (Mariner, Tendi) feeling jealous over their male best friend (Boimler, Rutherford) dating another girl (Barb, Barnes) and trying to sabotage dates between guy and said girl with the excuse of "saving" guy from some imaginary thereat (parasite, SMD).

Evening Dress, ca.1865, designed by dressmaker Madame Vignon of Paris. Silk.
The Cohasset Historical Society.
Maria Barnes Hooper, wearer
Maria Barnes was born in 1827 in Hingham, Mass., to parents Ensign Barnes Jr. and Deborah Lincoln. The Lincoln family has notable members of American History, including Major General Benjamin Lincoln, who served under George Washington in the Revolutionary War and received British commander Lord Charles Cornwallis’ surrender at Yorktown, and Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States.
Maria married John Sewell Hooper, a stationary merchant, in Hingham in 1852. The Hoopers applied for a passport in 1865 that shows the couple and their young son traveling to France. Family legend states that Maria purchased this dress for $100 (about $1,800 today) from Madame Vignon, a renowned Parisian dressmaker. Vignon also created the wedding dress and trousseau for the French Empress Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III.

Sneak peak for Star Trek : Athena, Ep 1 - Just Another Day
Miram glanced back at the woman as the corners of her painted lips turned upward. She reminded her of a barn cat that liked to play with mice before biting their heads off. It was an unnerving thought.
Many of her former peers had told her that she had a horrible judge of character. She just hoped for the sake of her sanity and career, she was wrong about her assumptions this time.
“Oh, boy. Here we go.” The man next to her looked unperturbed and went back to reading something on his PADD.
“Rank and name, kid,” she said. “Quickly.”
“Ensign Tobin ch’Zynes. Operations.” He rattled out. “I’d say ‘Pleasure to meet you’ but you don’t look very happy to do so.”
The woman chuckled. “Oh, a wise ass. Haven’t seen that before. Gotta admit, that’s pretty ballsy.”
Tobin shrugged, “I aim to please, Ma’am.”
Miram stepped in, sensing the storm gathering behind her eyes. “I’m Ensign Miram Tauri, ma’am. Engineering.”
“Oh, yes. You’re both new. I am Lieutenant Elaine D’Aureville. Navigator.” She gently nudged the man next to her who shot her an irritated look. “This delightful man here is our wonderful doctor, Michael E. Jenner. He’ll be the one to fix you up if you get into trouble. You can call him Mike—“
“Don’t call me Mike,” he said, putting his PADD away, giving up on reading. “It’s either Doctor Jenner or Micheal.”
Elaine snorted, nudging his side with her elbow. “And you tell me I’m uptight.”
He picks up her smoothie, swirling the blue and purple concoction. “You are.”
Miram cleared her throat, her own strawberry smoothie forgotten. “So…what’s it like being on the Athena?”
“Finally, something interesting to discuss.” Tobin leaned forward. “It can’t be as bad as the rumors I’ve heard.”
“Well, kid.” Elaine said. “It’s definitely something.”
Miram frowned at Elaine calling her kid.
“Define ‘something’,” Tobin said.
Elaine just grinned. “Trust me, you’ll find out. It's not like you have anywhere else to go.”
Miram and Tobin exchanged a look.
“She’s exaggerating,” Michael said, taking a sip of his smoothie. “Mostly.”
First episode will be releasing on April 10th. Links will be shared soon!

Octonauts Star Trek AU: Crew Profiles
Captain Barnacles:
Full name: Bernard “Barnacles” Barnes
Species: Human
Home country: Canada (Manitoba)
Rank: Captain of the USS Nautilus
Family: Bianca (sister), Orson (nephew), Ursa (niece)
Favorite instrument: Accordian
Kwazii
Full name: Kwazii Hawkins
Species: Human (partly cybernetic)
Home planet: irrelevant (he was born on a starship)
Rank: Commander (First Officer of the Nautilus)
Family: John “Calico Jack” Hawkins (grandfather)
Favorite instrument: Also irrelevant. He’d rather sing space shanties.
Shellington:
Full name: Dr. Shellington Holmes

Rank: Second Officer (Science Division), Lt. Commander
Family: Pearl (sister), Periwinkle (nephew)
Peso
Full name: Dr. Peso Morales

Rank: Chief Medical Officer
Family: Too many to name. His brother Pinto is a Starfleet ensign.
Dashi
Full name: Dashi Omura
Species: Trill (joined, fifth host of her symbiont)
Home planet: Trill
Rank: Lt. Commander (Chief of Operations)
Family: Koshi (sister)
Tweak
Full name: Ida “Tweak” Lagos
Species: Half human (father’s side), half Bajoran (mother’s side)
Home planet: Bajor (raised in Florida, on Earth)
Rank: Lieutenant (Chief Engineer)
Family: Marshall “Marsh” Fen (father)
Professor Inkling
Full name: Unknown
Species: Humanoid (very long lived)
Home planet: Unknown
Rank: Lieutenant
Family: Squirt (nephew)
Tunip
Full name: Tunip Holmes
Species: Unknown (bipedal, piscine)
Home planet: CLASSIFIED
Rank: None
Family: Shellington Holmes (adoptive father), Barrot, Tominnow, Grouber, Codish, Pikato, and Halibeet (siblings)
Notes:
Tweak is properly addressed as “Lieutenant Ida.” (As per Bajoran customs, the surname comes first.)
Inkling is the oldest crew member, Tunip and his siblings are the youngest.
Yes, Shellington chose his name for himself. He is completely cisgender. He just wanted a different name. He would like to know why this is hard to understand.
By contrast, Kwazii is trans and has had the same first name his entire life.
Everyone has autism, anxiety, ADHD, or some combination of the above.
Everyone has also broken the Prime Directive at least once.
You would think that Kwazii would be guilty of breaking the Prime Directive, but it’s actually Peso and Shellington.
Behind the scenes for the names:
Barnacles: Purely going off vibes. “Bernard” seems like a good first name for him, and my idea was that “Barnacles” is a nickname that comes from his surname.
Kwazii: “Hawkins” is after Jim Hawkins from Treasure Island/Treasure Planet. Both stories involve sailing, adventure, and pirates.
Peso: Literally just looked up a bunch of Spanish surnames and decided “Morales” was the best.
Shellington. Looked up several Scottish surnames, and Holmes fit best. Bonus points because in the books, Shellington actually dresses up as Sherlock Holmes.
Dashi: Her last name comes from the Omura’s whale— one of the featured animals in The Octonauts and the Ring of Fire.
Tweak: “Ida” means “work” or “labor” in several languages. “Lagos” is Greek for rabbit or hare.
Inkling: I don’t know. I couldn’t think of a surname for him. He’s like Guianan. No other name. Just Inkling. That’s it.
The Vegimals: Since they are Shellington’s adopted children, they share his last name.

@fasciinating liked for a 𝚜 𝚝 𝚊 𝚛 𝚝 𝚎 𝚛
𝐒𝐏𝐀𝐂𝐄 – 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐅𝐔𝐂𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐄 on a long list of places James hadn’t really wanted to experience. Not in the tactical or practical sense, but more in the mathematical or theoretical sense. Be that as it may, when the government forces you onto the payroll per a presidential pardon, and nudges you into tussles with interdimensional creatures and beings and all manner of science fiction movie nightmares – sometimes you end up in a place where you should have never been; like in a world where all you ever were was a fictional person in a comic book.
Though speaking of fictional people, the man in front of him reminded him of some kind of elf leapt from the pages of a Tolkien novel, but then didn’t say that outloud in fear of either that being terribly offensive or someone telling him Tolkien isn’t real; and both were too much to deal with right then.
𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐭. Of all the militaries and terrorist cells James Barnes ever saw, these people didn’t seem remotely cut from anything like the aforementioned. Which didn’t do anything to bring down his heightened guard, but it didn’t give him cause to further bring up his defenses either.
And for whatever it was worth, James was glad it was him and not Sam; 𝑡𝑜𝑜 𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑦 𝑝𝑒𝑜𝑝𝑙𝑒 𝑟𝑒𝑙𝑖𝑒𝑑 𝑜𝑛 𝑊𝑖𝑙𝑠𝑜𝑛.
There was a soft chirrup and a stirring in his leather jacket, but before he could explain the ivory feline in his coat, her head was out and the young guy in the red shirt shrieked “ – 𝐀𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 ! 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐀𝐥 – ...” suddenly very aware of the intense looks from his superior officers and of the old soldier himself, the young ensign began a hastened explanation.
“ 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡, 𝐦𝐲 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐟𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫, 𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐬. 𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐤𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐁𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐲 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐬 ? 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 ? 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲’𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 ! ”
James looked at the Tolkien Elf and softly asked “ — 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒖𝒄𝒌 ? ”
