Another record defense, this time in the No Upgrades, No Evolite category. I might be losing ground in 50 Entropy and AUAE but I will defend my Poor People's Champion belt with my dying breath.

[Prototype Profile] Hibiki Kohaku

I'm delayed in posting this, and at the time of writing, they already have a showcase for Mai up on their YouTube too! It looks like we may get one 'Prototype Profile' video a day for a little while. Look forward to it!

I wish I was more familiar with Hibiki's playstyle so that I could better analyze and compare his movements here. If you're more familiar with playing (as or against) Hibiki, please share your own thoughts in a reblog!

I think I see some similarities, but I'm unable to properly articulate them. I think the fast-paced combat with the focus on mobility makes Hibiki a good fit for this style of gameplay in general.

I am a little disappointed by what I don't see- for example, I didn't see any reference to Double Chase, his Drive (D attacks.) I feel like that's a missed opportunity. However, like I said, I'm not particularly familiar with Hibiki's kit at this time.

I do recognize some of the cross-over moves in his animations that remind me of Shadow Dance "Hidden Phoenix" (632146C.) At the very end of the video we also see an attack reminiscent of Black Thunder "Nue" (632146D) that looks pretty cool. The moon that appears reminds me of his Astral too, but the motions don't feel the same to me.

I like the shuriken ring attack he has going on, called Oblivion Glaive in the trailer; reminds me of his Piercing Feather (236A>A.) One of their variations seems to pursue the enemy, which I like as an addition to Hibiki's toolkit. We also see his iconic corvid motifs when he uses this new move.

This video also shows us few of the game's enemies. We see enemies that look like Ikaruga Ninja, which we've seen in previous trailers. When hit, they seem to glitch out, supporting my understanding that the characters we play as and fight against are some kind of hologram or projection utilized by the real robotic inhabitants of the EE world. Or maybe it's some kind of simulation? When Hibiki's attacks hit the ground, even that seems to have a small glitch effect. In hindsight, I never did a post my analysis of the game's trailer, did I??? Whoops...

We're also introduced to this original robotic-looking enemy. It, too, glitches when hit. In this shot you can also see the distortion to the ground from Hibiki's attack.

I have some conflicting feelings about the game that I've discussed in a previous post. I still feel frustrated that the game doesn't even have its own damn artwork, for example.

But there's no denying that the actual gameplay visuals look great, and the combat looks quick, snappy, and fun. I'm excited to see more!

I'm on my ninth star trek novel out of the ten that I own and I am getting SO FUCKING BORED. The novelty and campiness of them really starts to wear off after a while 💀 I'm currently reading The Entropy Effect by Vonda N. McIntyre and it is taking every ounce of strength in my body not to pluck my fucking eyes out

Like Sarek by A.C. Crispin is genuinely one of my favorite books I've ever read, Spock's World by Diane Duane (my beloved mutual who I would die for at any given moment who is so so so so so so so cool) was incredible, The IDIC Epidemic by Jean Lorrah was really fun-- but now that I'm reading the older ones I am contemplating suicide /j

William Shatner did and amazing job, he looked soo heartbroken, and honestly this scene even thought I have seen it so many times still makes me cry. But if you lie to cry about old man yuri like me, worry not, the book is perfect for you.

No matter what, these three were ment to always stay together, and now they have been separated. Even thought in didn´t really look like it, McCoy loves both Spock and Kirk the same way, they are both (at least) his friends, and he would do anything to protect them from harm (The Emapth - dude)

McCoy durring Spock funeral cannot keep himself from breakign down, and cries durring Spocks funeral. Almost the same way that he broke down durring The Entropy effect (also by Vondra N. McIntyre), when Kirk died.

Entropy Effect & Studio Update

As I discussed in a previous post, the studio behind the BlazBlue spinoff Entropy Effect (91Act) ran into unexpected financial problems and had to lay off the vast majority of their staff at the start of February. At the time, the company's intention was to continue providing support for Entropy Effect and to keep the company limping along until they could get their financial issues sorted. Once they were in the green again, they would rehire their workers and provide some degree of backpay.

We now have good news! 91Act was able to begin the rehiring process on February 26th. While not directly confirmed, it is likely that this became possible thanks to;

Entropy Effect's overwhelming success (selling over 350,000 copies and maintaining a 90% positive review rate on Steam)

91Act receiving permission to begin selling the game in China.

When the game passed 300,000 sales, CEO Jiang Lei made this celebratory post for the team. At the time they had laid off all artists on the staff, so the image is only writing. It seems he made it himself.

As reported by Game World Observer, "He couldn’t explain the sudden spike in interest, saying that the game itself was good enough and perhaps the whole situation resonated with the players, so they expressed their support in their own way. Some users noted that they were very touched by Lei’s live broadcasts."

The studio is likely not out of the woods yet, and they still haven't been able to rehire everyone, but things are starting to look up for the company and the game. Even during the skeleton crew period between 2/5 and 2/26, 91Act was able to publish two updates for the game. A reasonable amount over a single month period.

Though they have yet to add any more characters to the roster, they have teased that a new one is on the way. At this time, we do not know who the character will be.

BlazBlue: Entropy Effect v1.0 VOD

I want to play more later, but I did end up feeling kind of sick so that's on hold for now. They seem to have changed quite a bit between the last early access version and the full release version and I'm not quite certain how much of it I like. I still like the game overall, but some of the changes are kind of drastic.

anyway I remembered I had a free star trek ebook so I started reading it on my phone and while the author is too busy having their OC fuck Sulu to realize that Kirk/Spock is canon, they DO have Kirk lamenting over his past decision not to join a nine person polycule, which afaic is also now canon. 2 me.
