11 or 35 for the Rook story time asks!
35. Crow!Rook’s graduation from Fledgling to Assassin.
This turned out like... ten times longer than I originally anticipated, so I apologize in advance.
The contract had been an unusually bloody affair, but that was typical of a graduation. No Crow worth the name was just handed the title after all, especially not in Esma de Riva's House.
For all that the Fifth Talon was milder on her Fledglings than some of the stories she'd heard from the older mage compradi - in so much as milder meant not wasting an investment unnecessarily, not starving them outside of training or punishment, not being House Arainai- the woman did like her tests.
To Esma, Crows were only as good as their worst, their weakest moments, and that went double for Mages. Arsinoë couldn't help but wonder if that philosophy had been handed down from the Talon's Chantry-Cleric mother... but she absolutely knew better than to ask, even just to Viago.
It was fine. She was fine. Her arm and fingers and ribs all itched and ached where the potion was achingly slow at knitting the bone back together, but it was fine. It was over.
Admittedly, she wished Esma kept more than one proper spirit healer on the books, the way most of the Talons' Houses did, someone to put that skittering wisp hovering just in earshot to work, but-
But no, she didn't wish that. How many times had Viago told her?
It was Esma's very distrust for mages and the resulting lack of mage recruits over the years that had kept her ... well, not safe. No Crow or Mage was ever safe. But it gave her an advantage, an edge the other fledglings didn't have, to be needed. A mage was an expensive investment.
Bile stung at the back of her throat at the thought. Her stomach twisted, even as she tried to hold back the empty heaving. Pain lanced her chest again, so sharp that the beams of the infirmary rafters above her cot disappeared in a blur of new tears.
It would be fine. The physician Esma had deigned to bring once everything was over had said as much. He hadn't been a spirit healer, and he hadn't bothered to give her pain killers or talk to her directly, but he had done that. Looked at her with dark, dispassionate eyes and promised Esma there would be no loss of function once the potions had run their course.
Of course not. Esma didn't like needless waste. Something she credited to her merchant prince father when entertaining guests.
If anything, Arsinoë almost thought she had seen the Talon scowling when the physician prodded at the long deep cuts down her cheek, the one curving from her collar bone down between the valley of her breasts. She wouldn't have believed it but-
Facial scars are too easy to recognize.
It would bring her value down on a Contract. Lucky then, that she was a mage, a lightning-wielder, not a seductress or a spy.
None of this would have happened if-
Arsinoë swallowed again, blinked her eyes in an attempt to clear them, and wished that wisp would go away and stop with its odd little noises. She wanted to yell, try to scare it off... but it was already so hard to catch her breath. Besides, no one could find out that she heard or saw the damn thing so clearly after years of pretending otherwise.
So the job had been bloody, especially for someone whose best teacher was primarily a poisoner. Just her, a mage's stiletto, and a last minute contract on a target who seemed all too aware someone would be coming.
But she had managed. More than managed. No one had seen so much as a bloody footprint when she slipped back out from the dead man's chambers and back into Salle's side streets.
Maybe if she had been a duelist or a poisoner, that's where it would have ended. Arsinoë had never asked Viago, and he wouldn't have been able to tell her.
But Arsinoë was a mage. There was always another test for a mage. Stupid of her to forget that, even in a moment of victory. Stupid of her to trust one of Esma's men.
The torturer had reminded her of that while they worked, their voice neither condemning or sympathetic.
A mage was a risk like no other kind of Crow. How would a client take it if some Crow listened too carefully to the whispers from beyond the Veil, whether it be in a moment of greed or pain or terror? How would the Crows ever recover their reputation if a Crow, from any House, could be made an abomination from something as mundane as agony?
The Fifth Talon had to be sure.
And Arsinoë, who had more practice that she would ever confess at ignoring the whispers of interested spirits, who had survived a Circle where Templars went readily with their hands already at their blades... Arsinoë had endured. Because she had to.
A mage would always be tested. Even her mother, an Apostate with more hatred for the Chantry than anyone Arsinoë had met before or since, had told her as much. A mage had to keep control.
Arsinoë had kept control.
That meant something, even now with the room still spinning from pain and from the mix of potions and poisons and antidotes that had been poured down her throat. The small brand on her hip proved it, marked her as a Harrowed Crow, a sign of protection if you could find the right Templar for the House to bribe.
Maybe in the morning she would even be happy about it. But it was hard to feel much now beyond the aches and the nausea and the silence of the otherwise empty room, broken only by that damn wisp.
Her eyes blurred again, and then her mind. Just the quiet and the pain and the occasional flash of interest-hurt-worry from the wisp. Viago would have scolded her if he hadn't been off on a Contract, but Arsinoë found she was too tired to care about whatever someone might try to do to her now.
It felt like hours later, maybe longer, when the clinking of glass vials finally drew her attention back the present. The physician back with more potions? But he had said she'd been given all the tonics she could safely consume for the time being. If not him then-
Maker. Just leave me alone. Please.
She groaned, and the noises at her bedside stopped. A shadow fell across the back of her closed eyelids, followed a second later by a touch to her bandaged cheek that was just a little too firm for comfort.
"Arsinoë?"
That sounded like Viago. Was she hallucinating Viago's voice now? She had thought being off in the Free Marches would at least keep him from lecturing her.
"Arsinoë." Definitely Viago. He sounded pissed, as usual, though the hand that stayed pressed against her face was new. "Arsinoë de Riva, stop pretending to sleep and tell me what that moron has been giving you."
That sounded like an order, so after a moment of deep resentment for the command, she forced her eyes back open, taking in the scene in bits and pieces. A blue leather glove at the edge of her vision. Weak sunlight through the high windows. A slight blur over the world, no matter where she looked. Everything had fallen quiet again, waiting for her reply.
And yes. There was Viago.
"Did..." her voice felt stuck in her throat, her mouth dry, "Did you scare off the wisp?"
"The wisp?" Viago's scowl deepened, and abruptly he drew his hand back, reaching for whatever he had been working on before she caught his attention. "Never mind, don't tell me, I don't want to know."
He waited a moment for her to argue. When she didn't, he added, "You're feverish. I suppose there's no point in asking what you remember about the viscosity of the tinctures you were given, is there?"
She thought about it for half a second, trying, but the mixtures she had been given kept slipping from her mind. She had something more important to tell him, didn't she? Something he needed to know more?
"Vi, I-"
I'm a Crow, she should have said. I passed. Whatever happens, I'll die as Crow.
She should have said, I graduated.
What came out was "Vi.. I'm safe."
Her voice came out all wrong, too weak at the ends, almost questioning, but she needed him to know. Whatever happened next, she would die as a Crow, and an Antivan, and not just an Apostate.
Viago's face scrunched up strangely. For a moment it looked like he was going to reach over and poke at her again, but his hand only rose and fell back to his side.
"Yes..." He said softly. "Yes, I'm watching the exits. And I'll fix this."
That wasn't what she had meant, but Viago was strange at the best of times. She let it go, closing her eyes as he began his familiar prattle about reagents and the comparative virtues of embrium versus arbor's blessing versus elf root, letting the words wash over her in waves.
#Arsinoë de Riva#Esma de Riva#Viago de Riva#Rook de Riva#viago & rook#I know nothing about medicine so please forgive any glaring errors for the sake of drama lol#I do think the fever at the end there indicated infection- also that Esma's physician sucks- which is why Viago's so freaked out#I know the humorous line implies Rook got drunk when she graduated but maybe Viago took her out later because he felt guilty lol#thank you for the ask btw!#I don't think I've written this much in actual narrative in ages#it was fun#fun fact: Viago did in fact have a contract in the Free Marches#but he also had a strong sense of paranoia and spies keeping an eye out#so he finished faster than he probably should have and came back to find Arsinoë a mess in the infirmiry#literally cannot stop keeping an eye on her for more than a few seconds

Part 2: Dishonored: Characters
Our silent protagonist is Corvo Attano, and he is at once the ruin of Dunwall, caring for nothing but his own vengeance, and compassionate and kind despite the violence the city has inflicted upon him.
Immersive Sim:
Dishonored falls into a category of game called Immersive Sim, which in short means a game where the player has the ultimate choice in how to approach a situation. To paraphrase a quote from Warren Spector, the lead developer on Deus Ex, 'a key should not be the only way to open a door.'
The same thing applies to characters; though you are playing as a specific person, your decisions as a player greatly determine the personality and traits of said character, as well as their impact on the world.
In theory, I love immersive sims. In practice, especially in a series, games run into a lot of issues when it comes time for the sequel. Dishonored is no different.
If we take the first game in isolation, Corvo can be as violently destructive or as quietly imperceptible as you want. However, unlike the Mass Effect games, which take into account what you did in the previous games, Dishonored doesn’t; instead the game has its own true canon, which can be especially frustrating if you like to play loudly and violently. I will talk way more about this when we get to the level breakdowns, but suffice it to say, your actions have way less influence on the world than the game would like you to believe they do.
Corvo Attano:
Ironically, though he is our protagonist, we know very little about him, especially in the first game. We know is that he is devoted to both Jessamine and Emily, that he is very close to Emily, acting as her father figure, and that he is respected by the people who know him.
This is where the issues start. Does Corvo know Emily is his daughter? Does Emily? In the first game, the answer to both seems to be no, and yet, in the sequel, this is common knowledge not just to Corvo and Emily, but the Dunwall public as well.
The game never explains why Corvo and Jessamine aren't together, whether it's a personal choice or if marriage between nobles and commoners is illegal. This lack of clarity does bring up some questions about the world, since we see that Dunwall, and by extension the Isles are quite conservative and traditional, with the Abbey having a very large influence over its citizens.
How is Jessamine an Empress? Why is her being unmarried or her having a child out of wedlock not a bigger issue? Why is Emily’s birthright not an issue for succession if her father is unknown? Does the Abbey not have anything to say about the fact that the Empress just seemingly had an immaculate birth?
This isn't just idle speculation; it brings me to a much larger and more serious problem with the first game, namely
Sexism and Misogyny:
I want to do a little experiment. I’m going to list the most important characters in the game. Ready?
Royal Protector Corvo Attano;
Empress Jessamine Kaldwin;
Princess Emily Kaldwin;
The Assassin Daud;
Royal Spymaster/Lord Regent Hiram Burrows;
High Overseer Campbell;
Lords Custis, Morgan and Treavor Pendleton;
Admiral John Havelock;
Overseer Teague Martin;
Granny Rags aka Vera Morley;
Slackjaw, leader of the Bottlestreet Gang;
Ladies Lydia, Waverly and Esma Boyle;
and Inventors Anton Sokolov and Piero Joplin.
Do you notice something about this list?
Let’s do it another way.
These are all the female characters in the game:
Jessamine Kaldwin,
Emily Kaldwin,
Granny Rags;
The 3 Boyle sisters;
Governess Calista Curnow,
& Cecilia.
6. There are 6 female characters in the whole game.
I am not counting named NPCs like Madame Prudence, Lydia, Alfa, Elsa or Miss White, the same way I'm not counting Alec, Griff, or Lord Ramsey for the men. And I am not counting the 3 Boyle sisters as separate characters when they serve the exact same function and have the exact same character model.
Actually, I think the Boyles deserve their own section because–
Lady Boyle:
After escaping prison, Corvo is tasked with eliminating 5 people who have orchestrated Jessamine’s murder. Those 5 people are: the Lord Regent, the High Overseer, Lords Custis and Morgan and Lady Boyle.
Lady Boyle is the ONLY female assassination target. She is also the only one who had no involvement with the plot to kill Jessamine.
One of the Boyle sisters is the Lord Regent’s lover, and she is financing his grab at power, specifically paying off the City Watch. When you read her journals, you quickly realize that she's in way over her head, has no way out of the relationship without jeopardizing her life and her family’s reputation, and she even talks fondly about Jessamine - she misses her, she likes her, and hates how bad things have gotten without her.
We need to take her out because we need to take out Burrow's financial backing, but the justification for killing her is given by Lord Treavor Pendleton who is a) a super unreliable character, who b) has a very incel-adjacent relationship with all the Boyle women, and c) whose proof that Boyle ‘helped’ Burrows kill Jessamine is just ‘trust me bro’.
The only argument you could make is that in a transitive way, Boyle’s money paid for Daud, but that’s such an incredible reach that I sprained my neck just typing it.
What’s worse, is that the alternative to killing her is so much worse than committing murder, that I don't even think the developers realized what they'd written.
Back to the Sexism:
You thought we were done?
Calista Curnow, along with Cecilia is one of the two female characters who like Lydia serve mostly to flirt with Corvo. What makes Calista different is that she's a) Emilly's governess and b) a canon 'love interest' for Corvo. Heavy quotations around "love interest", because it's part of the WORST subplot of the entire game.
Calista exists so that Inventor Pierro Jopin can stalk and leer at her. And when I say stalk, I mean that literary, because you catch him watching her while BATHING.
You, as Corvo, can tell him off, only for the game to give you the option to ALSO spy on Calista. You can enter the bathroom and 'apologize', and even proposition her; she rejects you, but the game lets you enter the bathtub even AFTER she does. The game treats this as a joke; if you do it you get a game over screen, but there is nothing funny about making your protagonist someone who is willing to sexually assault someone. You can even poses Calista and make her get out of the bathtub to ogle her naked character model. She not treated like a character; she's treated like an object for the male players to jerk off to.
Ceclia has a different subplot that ends up being crucial in helping Corvo in the latter half of the game, and she is the only character to have an actual arc throughout the game. She out as a cowardly, meek woman, who is afraid of Corvo and afraid of standing up for herself, but inspired by his bravery, she ends up escaping certain death and leaving Dunwall.
Jessamine Kaldwin, is immediately killed, and spends the rest of the game as a LITERAL object, her physical heart and metaphysical spirit trapped in the mechanical heart the Outsider gives to Corvo. He only role is to be Corvo's literal spirit guide.
We never see what she was like as Empress, we learn very little about her opinion of Dunwall, her allies, or even of Corvo; all we know is that she loves Emily and wanted to cure the plague. Despite having many voice lines as the heart, most of them are about other people, and almost never about her.
Emilly is, thankfully, spared any sexualization, being 10 years old. She is, however, much like her mother, treated like an object more than a character. The game claims she imitates Corvo and watches everything he does with great interest, but in reality, outside of 2 scenes where Corvo plays hide and seek with her, she exists to get kidnapped and rescued.
There is only one female character that isn’t sexualized, isn’t in love or obsessed with Corvo, isn’t in constant need of rescuing, and whose motivations have nothing to do with Corvo:
Granny Rags:
I love Granny Rags. If Arkane ever magically gets the chance to make a Dishonored 3, I want it to be all about her. I want 10 more books about Granny Rags instead of whatever the Corroded Man is about.
We meet her as a blind, crotchety old woman, but in her youth, she was so powerful and beautiful, that princes fought over her favour. She rejected them all, devoting herself to studying the occult and earning an Outsider mark. Because she can’t see Corvo, it’s unclear if she knows who he is, or thinks he's her late husband, but she ropes him into her schemes.
In addition to her side quests being the longest and most involved they are also the most morally fucked up. She’s never a direct antagonist, in fact for most of the game she's on your side, helping with runes and alternative routes. Even when she ends up fighting Corvo, it’s only because he gets between her and her soup.
So, to recap, out of the 6 female characters, only 2 aren't sexualized, a child and an old woman, and only the old woman gets to be an actual character with motivations and goals unrelated to Corvo.
Yes, We Are Still on the Sexism
I can already see the comments.
Monika! This game is supposed to be brutal! And Dunwall is supposed to be sexist! The Abbey preaches that women should stay away from science and stick to the kitchen! That’s why it makes total sense that the only women in the game are maids or sex workers!
Well newsflash! Dunwall DOESN’T exist! The devs actively chose to build their setting in a way so as to exclude any female characters save for sex workers and maids. The place where you will see the most female NPCs in the entire game is a literal brothel. So no, they were not making a commentary on Dunwall's sexist society.
Even if they were, they did a piss poor job of conveying it, because the game never makes any commentary, outside of depicting misogynist actions.
The world the developers built doesn't even make sense under their own sexist logic! Once again, I have to ask: how is Jessamine an Empress? How is she unmarried? Why would a society where women can't do anything apart from raise children, cook and clean have a succession line of the eldest child instead of the eldest son? How come the Abbey never questioned Jessamine's decision to not marry or her daughter born out of wedlock? And if we are to believe that Jessamine is a good ruler, why wouldn’t she push back on the Abbey’s teachings?
Look, I love this game, I do. But part of loving something is being willing to acknowledge its flaws. I am glad that people did it, because guess what? The games improved! Even in this game's very own DLC the things I'm complaining about here start to change, and the games are better for it. But that would’ve never happened had people not acknowledged the issues in the first place.

idk how much ppl in the notes know abt argentina but when i visited i spent two days at la esma (now a world heritage site!) which was a naval school campus that during the military dictatorship of 1976–83 was the largest clandestine detention center in the country, where more than 5000 kidnapped civilians were imprisoned, tortured, and often eventually murdered as the school was still functioning (right there on a very main road of buenos aires) (specifically in the building where higher ranking officers lived). it's a site where some of the worst things that can be committed by human beings occurred. and it's all kept in pristine condition. there are some rooms where lights arent allowed, to preserve graffiti written on the walls by prisoners. it's conservation is overseen by multiple different groups, primarily by organizations for the protection of human rights
but the important thing about this place, and why it's stuck out to me so much in my life, and why i'm bringing it up here, is because the spaces that arent explicitly integral for historical preservation were adapted and repurposed into institutions and offices for the preservation of human rights in the modern day. some buildings are the center for the integration of migrants and refugees, the argentine team for forensic anthropology, the national institute for indigenous affairs, a cultural space for kids run by las madres de plaza de mayo, a collective by putos peronistas (peronist faggots), they hosted a feminist conference, and so many other things
this place of pain and torture and terrorism and mind numbing cruelty serves a dual purpose, both memorializing and preserving the history, while also making it a living breathing space that is on the front lines of fighting for human rights
all of this is to say, the us desperately needs to take notes, and converting this plantation into some fancy hotel and im assuming wedding venue and all that shit is fucking disgusting and i'd be right there alongside all the ppl who decided to go watch it burn down. may the memories of our painful past be for a blessing to those in the present and the future, not just something for more rich ppl to profit off of
The fact that I’m in the historic preservation field and still everyone I know is celebrating the Nottoway plantation burning down because we have standards

#sorry i was gonna have rhis in the tags but i wanted to include links#my anarchism#memory#usamerican history#historia argentina#nottoway plantation#usamerican civil war#usamerican politics#memoria verdad y justicia

Navigating EU ESG Regulations: CSRD, SFDR, Taxonomy
Europe has been at the forefront of integrating sustainability into corporate strategy. From the landmark EU Taxonomy (effective July 2020) to the sweeping Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the emergent Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), ESG Regulations across Europe are undergoing rapid expansion and refinement. This transformation reflects a bold ambition: align economic resilience with climate neutrality and social justice.

1. Foundation Laid: Core ESG Regulations
EU Taxonomy Launched in 2020, the EU Taxonomy provides a shared classification system that defines environmentally sustainable economic activities across six objectives, boosting transparency and reducing greenwashing.
Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) Since March 2021, SFDR obliges financial participants to disclose how sustainability risk factors are integrated at both entity and product levels.
Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) Implemented from Jan 2023, CSRD expands scope from 11,000 to ~50,000 companies, mandating detailed environmental, social, and governance disclosures aligned with European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS)
2. Emerging Pillars: CSDDD & ESG Ratings Oversight
Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) Passed in June 2024, CSDDD compels companies (including some non-EU) to conduct due diligence on human rights and environmental impacts throughout their value chains.
ESG Ratings Regulation Adopted in mid‑2023, this sets strict transparency and integrity standards for ESG rating agencies, with oversight by ESMA to reduce conflicts and ensure comparability.
3. Simplification vs. Ambition: The Omnibus Package
In early 2025, the European Commission introduced a simplification (omnibus) package to ease compliance burdens while preserving policy goals . Highlights include:
CSRD: Applying only to firms with ≥1,000 employees and phased-in data point requirements.
CSDDD: Delayed to 2028 with due diligence limited to direct suppliers.
Taxonomy: Streamlined Do‑No‑Significant‑Harm criteria and fewer KPIs.
CBAM: Carbon border adjustment scope narrowed and compliance deadlines extended.
Despite easing thresholds, the omnibus keeps the overarching target of climate neutrality intact towards 2040–2050 .
4. Business Impact & Global Reach
These ESG Regulations are not confined to Europe. Non-EU multinationals are affected if they:
Have EU revenue >€150M,
Export goods like steel or cement (under CBAM),
Use ESG ratings in EU financial products.
By harmonizing rules via CSRD, SFDR, Taxonomy, and CSDDD, the EU establishes a regulatory benchmark influencing global ESG norms.
5. Tensions & Debates
The EU faces a balancing act between:
Competitiveness: Simplifying regulations to aid SMEs and compete with US/China.
Ambition: Environmentalists warn that rollbacks in CSRD/Taxonomy could erode ESG effectiveness .
The 2025 Global Fashion Summit and financial sector groups have called for clarity and steadfastness to preserve investor trust.
6. Future Outlook: Harmonization & Technology
Convergence: The EU plans to consolidate CSRD, CSDDD, and Taxonomy into a unified framework .
Global alignment: EU’s initiatives influence standards globally, with IFRS and ISSB working towards unified sustainability disclosure .
Innovation via AI: Experts highlight AI’s potential to enhance ESG disclosure quality and detect greenwashing, though ethical oversight remains vital .
7. Strategic Implications for Companies
For businesses, this evolving landscape demands strategic adaptation:
Governance upgrades: Establish cross-functional teams to manage ESG compliance.
Technology investment: Deploy ESG data management platforms to track KPIs and taxonomy alignment.
Due diligence focus: Map supplier risk and human rights impacts under CSDDD.
ESG ratings monitoring: Track agencies under ESMA’s new regime.
Global preparedness: Monitor cascading effects of EU policy on global operations.
Conclusion
Today, ESG Regulations across Europe present both rigorous demands and unprecedented clarity. From robust frameworks like CSRD and Taxonomy to streamlined compliance via the omnibus, the EU seeks to ensure sustainability remains strategic—not burdensome. As international convergence gains momentum, those who embed ESG into core business strategy will thrive, while others risk regulatory lag.

How Shelf Life Testing Labs in the UAE Support Halal and Regulatory Standards? | +971 554747210
In the thriving market of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where innovation meets regulation, ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of consumable products is of paramount importance. For food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic manufacturers, adhering to both regulatory and halal standards is not just a legal requirement—it’s a brand necessity. This is where the role of a Shelf Life Testing Lab becomes crucial.
Shelf life testing is essential for determining how long a product remains safe and effective. However, in the UAE’s unique regulatory environment—governed by agencies such as the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA), the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP), and Halal certification bodies—shelf life testing must also accommodate cultural and religious expectations.
This blog explores how Shelf Life Testing Labs in the UAE support manufacturers in meeting both halal compliance and regulatory requirements, ultimately helping businesses maintain consumer trust and market access.
Understanding Shelf Life Testing
A Shelf Life Testing Lab assesses how long a product maintains its intended quality under specific environmental conditions. The testing process evaluates:
Microbiological stability
Chemical and physical degradation
Packaging compatibility
Nutritional profile retention
Organoleptic characteristics (taste, smell, appearance)
For a product to be halal-compliant and market-ready, its shelf life must be validated in a way that aligns with both scientific and religious requirements.
Why Shelf Life Testing Matters in the UAE
In the UAE’s consumer-driven and export-heavy economy, shelf life testing serves several functions:
Protecting public health
Minimizing product recalls and waste
Supporting regulatory documentation
Maintaining halal integrity from production to expiration
Enabling market expansion to other halal-conscious countries
Shelf Life Testing Labs provide the data manufacturers need to accurately determine “best before” or “expiry” dates, thereby supporting both consumer safety and product credibility.
Halal Compliance and Shelf Life: A Crucial Intersection
1. Preventing Haram Contamination Over Time
Halal-certified products must remain halal throughout their shelf life. Improper storage or ingredient breakdown can introduce:
Alcohol or microbial by-products
Ingredient separation that leads to inconsistency
Cross-contamination from non-halal packaging or leachables
Shelf Life Testing Labs monitor products for:
Ethanol or prohibited substance formation
Bacterial and fungal growth
Material leaching from packaging into food or pharma products
This ensures the product remains halal-compliant until the end of its stated shelf life.
2. Validating Halal Packaging Integrity
Packaging materials used in halal products must also be halal. Some coatings, glues, or inks may originate from non-permissible sources. UAE Shelf Life Testing Labs assess:
Packaging compatibility and migration testing
UV and moisture resistance
Changes in physical barriers that may affect halal integrity
Such testing validates that the packaging preserves the product’s halal status during storage and transit.
3. Support for Halal Certification Bodies
Halal certification in the UAE is governed by Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) and EIAC-accredited halal certifiers. These authorities require proof that the product:
Remains free of haram components during its entire lifecycle
Is protected by appropriate halal packaging
Maintains nutritional and physical integrity
Shelf Life Testing Labs help manufacturers generate the scientific data required for documentation during halal audits or certification renewals.
Supporting UAE Regulatory Standards
In addition to halal laws, UAE regulatory standards require comprehensive shelf life validation before a product enters the market. Shelf Life Testing Labs ensure compliance with:
GSO Standards (Gulf Standardization Organization)
UAE.S 9: Emirates Quality Mark (EQM) for food and beverages
MOHAP for pharmaceutical products
Municipality and port authorities for imports/exports
Lab-generated reports provide necessary data on:
Microbial load over time
Active ingredient degradation (pharma)
Organoleptic changes (food/cosmetics)
Temperature and humidity tolerance
This helps ensure the product remains safe and effective under UAE's climatic and regulatory conditions.
Key Shelf Life Testing Methods Used by UAE Labs
To support halal and regulatory standards, Shelf Life Testing Labs in the UAE employ a variety of industry-standard techniques, including:
Accelerated Stability Testing Simulates long-term storage using elevated temperatures and humidity to predict shelf life.
Real-Time Stability Testing Observes product changes under actual storage conditions over an extended period.
Microbiological Testing Evaluates the presence and growth of harmful microorganisms over time.
Chemical Analysis Tracks changes in pH, moisture, oxidation, and active ingredient levels.
Sensory Testing Monitors appearance, taste, and smell to determine consumer acceptability.
Packaging Performance Testing Measures the durability and inertness of packaging materials over time.
Benefits of Using a UAE-Based Shelf Life Testing Lab
Choosing a local, accredited lab in the UAE offers several strategic advantages:

Accounts payable is the hardest working accounting function. It is very important for an organization to use its resources for implementing this best practice in a company. In an organization generally different types of accounting record are being gathered. That information is invoices, purchasing orders and copy of receipt. Person from accounts payable department collects these three important documents and verify those documents before paying the accounts payable (Esma, 2013). It is tough job and highly error prone. Elimination of manual checking is a best practice for accounts payable. It is often being noticed that staffs of a company perform manual check of different bills and sign those bills and enter those information into a computer system. In this whole process staffs may enter faulty information into the system and as the process is done fast so, often some important information are not free from errors. Maintaining database of suppliers is a best practice for payable staffs of a company. It has been observed that maintaining a large data base of supplier is a serious problem for the staffs. It is often being noticed that suppliers make complaints that they are not getting their money in proper time. These kinds of problems generally occur due to large supplier base (Hansen, Otley and Sted, 2003). For resolving this issue reducing the supplier base is a best practice. Budgeting is a very difficult and painful but one of the most important best practices of accounting. It requires significant efforts to come up with a proper budget. Budgeting is all about allocations of the resources of a company in its different operating segments. This process is completed on the basis of past trends and futures forecasting and so levels of uncertainties are there. Those presences of uncertainties are making this a very risky function. It has been observed that when staffs of an organization is presenting the budget in front of the management of Read the full article

Launch Your RWA Tokenization in 7 Days
Introduction
RWA tokenization is changing the game in terms of how tangible assets can be managed, owned, and traded. Through the power of blockchain technology, businesses and investors can now fractionalize ownership, enhance liquidity, and improve accessibility to tangible assets such as real estate, gold, fine art, and beyond. Although doing so seems very difficult, it is possible to initiate an RWA token easily within seven days with the right way of doing things. In this guide, you are taken through a step by step way of launching your RWA tokenization project effectively and efficiently.
Understanding RWA Tokenization
RWA tokenization services essentially refers to a process that converts assets in the real world into a token representation in blockchain. Ownership is then represented by the tokens, allowing transfer and participation in the market easily. Tokenized assets are facilitated by smart contracts, which are used for doing the transactions automatically without relying on intermediaries but may enforce compliance. The digitization of those assets would actually give rise to new investment options with lower administration and better transparency around management.
The 7-Day RWA Tokenization Roadmap
Day 1: The Asset and Tokenization
First, it is necessary to define the asset to be tokenized and the relevant tokenization model. Once again, one has to ponder whether the asset is securitized and if there is the option of fractional ownership versus full asset-backed tokens. This stage will also explore jurisdictional insights in terms of legal requirements, linking back into compliance with the regulatory frameworks.
Day 2: The Right Blockchain & Token Standards
Working out the estimated mode of asset tokenization now means that next is another key step: to select the right blockchain. With many considerations in mind, Ethereum, Polygon, and Solana represent a litany of possibilities. Each comes with its advantages based on how it looks at security, scalability, etc. Choosing the right token standard, such as ERC-3643 or ERC-1400, provides compatibility with existing platforms and liquidity providers. Along with the right blockchain and token standard, you also need a secure digital wallet for your transactions and custody solutions.
Day 3: Smart Contracts Development & Token Creation
The third day will be for smart contract development and token creation. An audited smart contract is vital so that its power can be properly engaged for security, enforcement of automated execution, and specified token functionality such as minting, burning, and transfer. The smart contract goes through rigorous tests before being deployed with utmost interests on its integrity and security. This is to ensure that the token acts as intended without any security loopholes.
Day 4: Legal Compliance & Documentation
The fourth day will be put into focus on legal compliance and documentation. RWA tokenization falls under financial regulation, and it is thus imperative to draft the documentation required, including whitepapers, terms and conditions, and investor agreements. Ensuring that a company or person engages a legal counsel to talk with regulators would be required to put the token in compliance with authorities such as SEC, ESMA, or MAS. This guarantees that the token passes all legal looks, thus avoiding regulatory problems in the future.
Day 5: The Development of A Marketplace Integrated Platform
This is the fifth day of program training, and the participants focus on platform development and marketplace integration.Therefore, a company can either develop its own tokenization platform, or it can integrate its tokens with an existing marketplace. What's more, such a platform needs to meet the user experience criteria and also comply with KYC and AML regulations. Finally, listing on a DEX or CEX should help boost liquidity and create investor accessibility.
Day 6: Publicity And Investor Outreach
Day six is solely dedicated to marketing and investor outreach. The promotional activities with SEO-optimized content for social media campaigns, influencer engagement strategies, and everything else that comes with venturing into a successful token launch should have setting up at least six different marketing activities. Then why not add to it webinars, educational blogs, and even press releases to build that credibility and attract the eye of potential investors? Such partnerships with blockchain communities and industry players further expand such visibility.
Day 7: Token Launch & Secondary Market Listing
Keystones of this final day include network/system launch, secondary market listing, and all such procedures by which early adopters can participate. Trust building and any kind of investor engagement can only be maintained if trading remains uninterrupted on the secondary market so that there is ongoing liquidity. Some projects might give updates from time to time which might build the trust of the investor in the long term for the sustainability of the project.
Key Benefits of RWA Tokenization
There are several advantages to real-world asset tokenization taking place in seven days. The aspect of fractional ownership makes it easier for smaller investors to get into large-value investments; thus, market accessibility improves. Blockchain-based tokenization makes geographical barriers insignificant, allowing transactions to take a global facade. The tokenization of RWA also opens up doors for liquidity by turning usually illiquid assets into easily tradable tokens. Smart contracts tend to be automated and thus will cut down on the intervention of intermediaries; therefore, this avoids cost, providing seamless transactions.
Challenges and Solutions in RWA Tokenization
RWA Tokenization has its own advantages and disadvantages. First and foremost, it will always be the issue of regulatory uncertainty. Second, collaborating with compliance experts should allow for legal adherence. In addition to this, market liquidity can be a challenge. Hence, the selection of one particular blockchain and marketplace is vital. Smart contract audits coupled with multi-layer authentication and channel security further minimize security threats.
Conclusion
If you have the necessary approach as well as understanding and skills, you will be able to launch an RWA token in seven days.
