Reasons to Watch Drive-Away Dolls (2024):
Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Viswanathan as Jamie and Marian, in the 90s Lesbian Road Trip Adventure Crime Comedy of Our (My) Dreams
It was delightfully absurd! I love a movie that is off-kilter at every turn!!! The stakes are escalating but rather than suspenseful, it is snappy and spirited
If you have ever wanted to watch a crime movie where the criminals are so incredibly inept at committing crimes that they have to keep pleading with lesbians they've just met to help them, this could be the movie for you
If you have ever wanted to watch a movie where for every scene involving violence there is also a longer lesbian sex scene, this could be the movie for you
Curlie, the Drive-Away Rental Dealer, who is decidedly in a different genre of movie, and who doesn't like people calling him Curlie (his actual name) because it's too familiar, deserves his own shout-out
This movie was exactly the right length!! It didn't drag, it told the story exactly in as much time as it needed (1h24min)
There is only one character in this movie who is based on a real person, and while I could not have predicted who that would be, they were once described with the phrase, "Someone like [them] should be in the Smithsonian."
Ethan Coen and Tricia Cooke, who are married, in a polymarous relationship and the latter of whom is a lesbian, directed and wrote this self-described B movie and have been trying to get it made for almost 20 years, which is incredible dedication
Quotes like: "Take the wall dildo." "It's your dildo, Suzanne."

"I want to be in your life, but only as much as you want me to be" "i want you to be!"
Tumblr media
I just know pookster got scared for a second and thought sam was going to leave her again.
Also i think it's so interesting to see how Tara tries to push sam away all throughout scream vi, but then the moment sam is "letting her go", she goes back to her and holds her even tighter.
Imagine Tara trying to push sam's boundaries because she wanted to prove herself that she was the problem and that sam would've left again because tara was too much.
But then she sees that sam is not letting her go, not even a little bit, because she is the one person that really cares and loves her. She won't give up on her that easily. Even because, i believe that sam understands tara more than tara understands herself, and she knows what she's doing. She's not going to let tara use this self-destructive mechanism.

the fact that we get to watch percy and annabeth’s relationship develop while knowing how they end up at the end of the series has me shaking like a dog. the boy who drools in his sleep is going to become one of, if not the most powerful demigods and he’s going decline godhood for the girl that pushed him in the lake to prove her theory and they don’t even know it yet

Okay, hi. I need to write something super fucking angsty. I don’t care if it ends in smut or not, but I do need it to be for a non-Ghostface Ethan. I’m DYING over here because I think it’ll pull me out of this writers block so I can finish all the half-written fics I have lmao

Don’t get me wrong Daniela is a killing machine just like her sisters but compared to them she is the weakest one. There is a line in the game but I can’t remember where it was but— it makes all the more sense that she was kept away in safety while her sisters went after Ethan.
It’s like— She loves hunting and she’s really good at at, but compared to Bela and Cassandra she still has a lot to learn and the fact that she never hunted solo adds to that. Also, even when they go hunting she knows that her sisters are around so she doesn’t take it that seriously and ends up playing with her prey which gives them a chance to escape from her (but Cassandra is usually close by going for the kill anyway)
And Bela and Cassandra let it slide, every single time. Never have any of the two older sisters ever held it against her they just let her play and have fun. Because realistically speaking, Daniela is very dangerous and threatening to any human so it’s never a problem, really. So what if she likes to play and have fun? They all encourage it and they’re always there to ensure she’s safe and no harm comes her way. She is learning a lot, and they can see her improving but she does it in her own way at her own pace.

hc that Ethan is just as unhinged as the rest of the TA demigods but is in possession of a few brain cells so whenever he's with them he needs to tone it down to be the acting mum friend because if he doesn't an errand to get milk will end with a hospital visit

ok imagine you're an mi6 agent who's been on an undercover mission for the last 2 years and then you're meant to interrogate some guy but instead you free him and you have a moment and then you meet again in vienna when you're both sent there to kill someone but you both have the same strategy of wounding not killing and then you give him something to make he finds you again because you have to leave soon and when he finds you again in your safe house you notice that he has drawn you and he's smart and keeps up with you and you go on a mission together and you have to revive him after he died and saved his life again and then you have to betray him and THEN he follows you into the mountains on a motorcycle but rather hurts himself than hurting you when given the choice and when you meet again after that whole thing you ask him to come away with you and he says nothing and he pretty much rejects you. how do you deal with that. also after that your evil boss says that you have to kill him and his friend so you can keep the trust of your evil boss and your even eviler boss :)) bc something similar happened to my friend ilsa faust.

Why are they making spock so human in SNW? It has to be part of some arc where he eventually takes up his vulcan discipline again. *Like are they basing this all on the fact that spock was emotional in The Cage but more reserved in man trap?
Also it makes uhuras line in TOS “kirks the closest thing you have to a friend” kind if hilarious because it implies Spock refused to consider any of them his friend despite everything they’ve been through.

M:I Dead Reckoning Spoilers
This is your last warning.
OKAY so on the one hand, I cannot believe they killed off Ilsa!! Did they do a good job of foreshadowing it? Yes, I saw it coming a mile away even before they got to the bridge. However, (in my opinion) it was a disappointing move.
I was so down for Hayley Atwell to be in this movie. In fact, I still really love her character + character development over the course of the movie!! I think she was well fleshed out for her first movie!! But just because they introduced a new character (and dare I even say… love interest???) does not mean they can kill off the only other female on the team. They one-hundred-percent fridged her for the sake of Ethan’s dilemma later on in the movie, and that was after they already set up the first fridge in the beginning of the movie to show how angry/scared he was of this guy.
Furthermore, they killed her off to perpetuate Ethan’s tragic love life. We know that before Ethan joined the IMF, his SO was killed by Gabriel. In the first movie, the woman he was seeing on his team is killed with the rest of them in the beginning of the movie. We never hear from the thief (Ms. Hall?) after the second. Julia we know fakes her death and becomes a ghost after the third movie. And then, in Fallout, it seems like Ethan’s finally given permission (by Julia or himself or the circumstances, take your pick) to move on and be with Ilsa. Only for it to all fall apart in the very next movie!!
There was no reason to kill off Ilsa. It was bad writing, especially after hinting at Grace being his next love interest and killing off Ilsa because of her. There was no reason for Grace not to get along with everyone as friends in the IMF or as a contact or what have you and still have Ilsa as Ethan’s SO as well as a rogue agent/in the IMF/ghost contact.
That being said.
Now that I have finished blaming the writers, I must congratulate them in the way they handled Ilsa’s death. I mentioned earlier that I was able to see Ilsa’s death foreshadowed in the cinematography and the overall feel and narrative of the movie. Faking her death in the beginning of the movie to prime the audience for her real death later, having her face blown up on the tv screen behind the director when he tells Ethan that continuing this path will cost him, and the overly blatant call out of the entity that she was closer to the bridge than Ethan.
Concerning the bridge itself, I feel like it was somewhat ridiculous to have Ilsa carry a sword over a gun, but those feelings aside the sword v knife fight was freaking awesome. They did do her (as well as Grace before) justice in the fight against Gabriel in the fact that visually they were really cool looking fights and they weren’t taken out in two swings.
And on the matter of Grace’s presence at the bridge, I have to say it was very in character for Ilsa to pursue Gabriel in an effort to save Grace. From our first meeting with Ilsa, she was always willing to put an ally’s life before her own (just as Ethan is so prone to doing) and so character-wise, it makes sense for Ilsa to go in without backup, without waiting.
Am I still mad that she died? Absolutely! I could also talk about their usage and subsequent disposal of Paris (a really awesome and fun character; tbh I am not totally sure that’s her name), but right now I wanted to focus on Ilsa’s death as Paris’s role in the movie requires her own pros and cons list. However, I can say that I (personally) think that it was handled much better than some other movies deal with their characters deaths. Overall, it was a fantastic movie and I will be watching part two next year to see how they round off this arc.

pondering the kirsch siblings orb heavy tn about this line in specific…
Tumblr media
like putting the obvious dig at gale/dewey aside, given that the ghostface on the phone here is Quinneth™️ herself, i really can’t shake the feeling that she is pulling this from like a really personal place herself. obvi she is trying to taunt gale, but it’s like,,,she would very much know the feeling, wouldn’t she??
i always think back to that one interview w liana where she mentions that she sees quinn’s motivation in vi as coming from a place of wanting to step up to protect her family like richie protected her as an older brother. and so it always makes me think like,,,how mf guilty does she have to feel that she wasn’t there when richie was dying?? esp since we know they literally all saw the pictures of richie’s body, etc. so she would def know how brutally he died.
like i don’t even think this is just me rotating the kirsches in my silly little head like a cow too much bc this is like the least delusional of my takes imho LMAO. i think she was definitely stewing on that guilt over not being able to ‘be there’ when she thinks richie would’ve needed her the most/when she feels he was always there for her. like she wasn’t just coming up w that shit on the fly just to let dewey catch some strays, she knew this one would hit gale like RIGHT to the jugular to hear bc it’s coming from a place of that very same pain hitting VERY close to home 😭

I used a pic crew to make a post Book 3 tired-not-dealing-with-things-well Ethan and made myself sad. He’s overwhelmed, unsure of himself for the first time in his life, and starting to fail at hiding it from those around him. Happy Ethan vs I’m going to say it’s fine but is very much isn’t Ethan.
