This is a rambling reflection on my writing as a whole so far. Some of it might qualify as sopping wet llama out in the rain rambles.
I really have struggled to write consistently for, like, ever. My writing, even when on Adderall, would not be consistent or satisfying thing. I'd work and be like "I guess it's okay" and not touch it again after a week. My friend's reaction to the ending of Good Dog was partly "oh my god it has an ENDING. It FINISHED."
So this sudden explosion of writing that started in...September? that's still going is impressive.
And there's still a lot for me to do and improve on, which is a bit of why To Be Haunted came to a screeching halt. What happened was I realized I was trying to cram way too many ideas and concepts into something and it was about to collapse under its own weight.
So, instead of doing what I usually do, which is insist it can all work in the same piece, I took a step back to just try 'what if X isn't part of the story' and that was probably the best thing I could have done for it. Removing the huge chunks I wanted to put in there made it easier to rework the story--it isn't perfect, but the story can serve its purpose again ('How would Johnny and Kenshi react to their children being attacked by a force they cannot fight?'). Not only that, but the pieces I took out can work as their own ideas too.
I really do like To Be Haunted. The piece I more or less grafted off of it isn't likely to get as much attention as even it or ColdSoul stuff, but that's kind of how it goes.
Don't worry--I loooove writing ColdSoul. It definitely taught me more about writing. I might do another ramble about that another time. But for now, the current projects phrased as questions (where the stories are the answers):
-How would Johnny and Kenshi react to their children being attacked by a force they cannot fight back against? -What happens to souls when time is repeatedly reset? -What happens when two heartless men discover they're in love with each other?
