everytime i make a post trying to centre countries outside of the imperial core perspective someone always nitpicks my choice of terminology. i usually pick which term to use based on who i'm trying to speak to bc im intentional like that.

"waah third world is bad and outdated! it comes from the cold war! bandung only included a small set of countries!" like yeah the non aligned movement was limited but the term now represents more than that history to people conversant in imperialism. it is an ideological signifier! it is being explicitly used in that sense. when you make the kind of criticism i quoted you're telling me you lack familiarity with the theoretical frameworks in question.

the global south is an ngoism that has partly increased in popularity to distance itself from radical leftist ideological commitments implied by third world. it is a term popularly used to direct aid centred policymaking to address global poverty. i use this to talk to social democrats who don't have a coherent idea of what imperialism is.

developing world ofc indicates a framework that does not have an imagination for non capitalist modes of production. i use it to usually talk to neoliberals and libertarians.

i dont use the term periphery bc that term is the opposite of trying to centre the periphery to me. this is partly an aesthetic preference. but also bc it is a term that reifies a particular feature of economic relationships that is incomplete and obscures the ways that inter periphery relationships work (say india bangladesh)

I cant watch youtuber commentary videos because to me its what i assume straight women feel when having sex it genuinely enrages me. i cant watch people make commentary videos anymore because its not about getting insight on topics being talked about right now its about watching the same influencer giving their noncritical think pieces to random topics they didnt know about until mere hours before hoping in front of the camera and pressing record. everyday. Damn its so bad. watching them try to deepen the conversation with their twitch chat is comical because its obvious they have NO idea what theyre talkimg about it makes you want to start laughing but maybe crying bc how do hundreds of thousands of people depend on this asshole to say the thing that wont get them canceled? bc lets be real thats why 90% of these people watch these types of videos. they cover all these fucking topics how are they qualified to speak on all these things? 😳 the truth is theyre NOT! their audience just sees them as someone trustworthy to get their opinions from because THEY know how to find the people who *are* knowledgeable on the topics they wanna cover and repeat the exact same things they saw these qualified people type in the replies of the story VERBATIM and just repeat them in front of a webcam and a live chat. All while being an influencer people know they agree with everytime they make a video like this. its so fucking pathetic how do you guys rely on these people to tell you what to think i genuinely cannot watch the same youtuber over and over because the more i see them make these types of videos the clearer it becomes to me that people just watch these people not to think critically but bc they like the person repeating the same jargon they could read themselves. oh, and the person is safe and familiar and a comfort character lmfao. i genuinely dont know if its just like… i was raised to be an ENTP or what… but there has only been one social commentary youtuber i ever watched in my entire life who actually says something constructive about the topics she covers bc A.) she is intelligent B.) the topics she covers are all topics specific to her everyday lived experiences and she doesnt talk about topics that arent at least a little related to the main information she teaches C.) she isnt just cranking out videos for views/$ lmfao shes taking her time she puts her entire mind out on the plate and cuts into it with you the viewer slowly guiding you to the next point and makes sure you eat the course in the most digestible / optimal way to ensure you are FULL. if i have to watch another idiot streamer just talk out of his ass to his twitch chat trying to make sure he’s the all knowing Logic and Semantics King while knowing & saying NOTHING of substance im going to scream. talks to fucking talk and do the littlest amount of work while getting ALLLL the credit from democrat liberals who know the bar is underground with cishet dudes on youtube and literally uproar in applause when some average guy says pronouns! racism bad! its a giant circle jerk and anyone who wants to actually hear something worth digesting has to numb their brains anytime someone who cant sit in silence decides to put on their emotional support twitch streamer who was violently racist on the internet up until 2020. this is such a sweet question!!! and i’m gonna be shit at answering it because i dont read enough poetry dkgjldfh i can say that i don’t think i’ll ever be able to choose ONE favourite poet ever. because that’s like…. there’s just so much OUT THERE. everyone is a tiny star that needs to be admired.

okay then in no particular order i’m gonna list a few poems

first one, the shakespeare one that’s even quoted in my header, Sonnet 36.

it’s just so…. soft and full of love and kindness and forgiveness and so wonderfully gay?

i also really love that the rhymes in the quartrains are built with light vowels, like a and e, making it seem so hopeful while the message is so sad, and then the couplet uses the dark o vowel while the message here is actually the hopeful one. so this pain always goes hand in hand with the beauty of love, you know? i just …. wow. yeah i cry everytime.

then charlotte smith’s Written in a Churchyard at Middleton in Sussex

i actually wrote a paper on that one and just the more time i spent with this poem, the more i was baffled by it’s beauty. it’s so beautifully written, how the words and the rhyme mimes the crushing of the waves, a constant ebb and flow, the beautiful use once again of assonances and dark and light vowels, wow.

also a woman poet? at that time? i love them all. a woman writing about how she envies the dead? i fuckign love her

let’s stick to women and pick my gay mother who RAISED ME Carol Anne Duffy and let’s pick the poem Pygmalion’s bride but tbh everything that flows from her pen is just…. awesome

when i first read that one, which was while i was sitting in a poetry seminar, i started tearing up and almost had to leave the room because it touched me so much. i don’t have anything else to say. i cant even like… properly analyse this poem as i did the once before because just… it’s just tears. but i will say the fact alone that she took this old story and turned it around??? fuckign magical. fuckign powerful.

then ofc i gotta mention good old percy b shelly who ofc was….. a bit of an asshole in his private life and inconsistent in his political views (he’s gonna tell you he was very consistent and he hated wordsworth etc for abandoning their rebellious ideals in their old age, but tbh i’d rather have someone turn their backs on their youth’s ideals than always claim to be a democrat and humanist (which he WAS OFC and i LOVE HIM FOR IT) while also always saying how much he hated poor people. stupid aristocrat who didnt really understand the world and treated my MOTHER mary like SHIT sdjgndlfh anyway his poetry is amazing djgndfh) and i’m gonna pick the Ode to the West Wind, especially part V, because just…. wow.

oh OH before i forget i really have to mention Michael Faber’s Old BIrd, Not Very Well. i cried so HARD when i read that poem, the entire collection actually (Undying Love). That poem actually inspired a tattoo idea for me and im desperately saving money to get it done. the story behind it is haunting and the imagery just as beautiful. once again i cried so much while reading this that i cant even pinpoint specific lyrical devices atm. it just…. fuck.

I was told by my car insurance that my car was totaled, and would only be good for parts. It was in a MINOR flood, and I called to have it evaluated. They said water was in the motor, fuse boxes, everything was ruined supposedly. I knew they were lying, because I had my fiance check it all out, and there wasn't a drop in it except for the carpeting. I told them so, and said I wanted the car back to fix it myself, but the adjustor said they already paid my bank for the damage (not even the full amount, they came up with about 45% of the payoff amount, but it was worth what I owed on it). They said if I wanted it back, I would have to give them $2,700 for the car. I said to hell with it, and had to come up with 2,600 to pay off the remaining part of the loan, and then go buy another car. Last year, I seen my car in the next town over. Same vin number, same paint chipped bumper, same fist mark behind the passenger door. I was mad, but blew it off. Then, I seen it on a buy sell trade site and decided to inquire about the details. The guy bought it for $800 and didn't have to fix anything on it except for what I needed to fix before the flood (window regulator, wheel baring, and new tires). He told me he thought I had committed insurance fraud to get a pay out from them. So, I called my old insurance company, and the lady took all my information down and gave me the adjustor's number, the adjustor's supervisor's number, and the fraud department's number. I called the adjustor, left a message, and then filed a claim with the fraud department. They said to expect a call from them next week. What exactly happens in a case like this?? I don't expect a hefty payout or anything, but still, I've never known anyone who had this happen to them, but I do know people who committed insurance fraud. My husband and I have two cars- both insured with us as the drivers. However, his mother (and sometimes his three brothers) have been using my husband's car while there's is getting fixed. They've had the car going on three months- and I read on progressive.com (our insurance, obviously) that we're responsible to make sure any 'regular' drivers are covered under our insurance. I'm not sure their insurance situation, since the car has been so delayed in getting fixed- they may have canceled it until they get it back. Ended up switching to Allstate who has been charging me $90 a month (better than $140 right?).....6 months go by, everything's cool.....now my policy renewal is coming up and they're trying to tell me i need to pay $160 a month for their basic insurance. I'm almost 20 years old, a full time student and do not have health insurance. When I was 16, my parents switched insurance companies, and for some reason or other they did not put me on their policy. So I have not had insurance for 3 years. In February I found out I was pregnant so I began applying for Medicaid. Before all the paperwork was done, I had miscarried and in the process racked up almost $6000 in medical bills. I went to the medicaid office and they told me that they would cover my bills even though I was no longer pregnant and college students don't qualify. After 2 months of waiting, Medicaid denied me and the hospital turned me into a collection agency. I was denied because I make too much money. I make $8.55 an hour and work about 15 hours a week. Yes I do make good money for a student but I have worked at the business for 3 1/2 years. Because I am not a full time employee, I don't qualify for insurance, but only managers and department heads are full time. So my father canceled our insurance last year and we have no health insurance. I know that this leaves us in a very bad spot. Im looking for some advice as to what me and my family should do. Considering suing my car insurance company?

As we all know car insurance companies in the United States of America charge males more than females to drive a car based on real world studies . This is the equivalent of not hiring females because they may get pregnant and take a lot ofdays off... Because this is truly a real world study i conducted that males dont get pregnant as often as females. So I am highly tempted to bring this up with a lawyer or at least send a letter to my car insurance company, and i want them to hurt for it because frankly it pisses me off that i am being descriminated against. Further more, in europe, this practice of charging males more because they are more likely to drive is highly illegal.
