so last night my beautiful puppywife helped me find guns for perv quartet <3

notes about how each character uses guns:

roan's pistol is extremely efficient, as silent as possible, and easily concealed. no-nonsense and tactical. his gun is my favorite one of the group's. according to my puppy, it's so quiet that the loudest part of it is the slide moving, and there's a switch to make it not move during firing (with the downside of needing to do it manually to shoot again)

vesper's gun is pretty and physically appealing. she would carry it on a garter. as usual, she's much more focused on looks and style than roan is, but still subtle and deadly.

bryn's gun is the biggest handgun possible. loud and flashy. waves it around bragging and posturing.

seren's rifle gets the job done with no frills. they barely use guns, except maybe to put down an animal that's not fun anymore. every time they shoot, they clutch their weapon way too tight and have a scary thousand-yard stare.

so the situation is complicated cuz it’s technically a selfship with a canon character but his source material is very sparse on info so i basically made up everything about him and his world. like i made up his gender he doesnt have a canon gender.

behold… roan armiger (upright) and vespertine conchita (reversed)

in this universe dueling (swords) is a sport among the upper class. roan armiger is the best duelist in the country (with an ego to match) and vesper is second best. they are undefeated except to each other.

vesper is an insane and violent ojou sama and roan is a manipulative snake and a coward & hypocrite. they are in a D/s butchfemme relationship and COMPLETELY FUCKING OBSESSED w/ EACH OTHER. also worth mentioning that vesper is half demon and afflicted with a curse that makes her have to eat human flesh to stay strong and healthy. she also has regenerative powers because of this curse that roan takes advantage of in order to gore her. he is a pathological sadist, and so they get up to various things: heavy impact play to the point of broken bones, belly punches until vesper vomits, dismemberment, disembowelment, psychological torture suicide play, hanging, captivity and starvation, and of course good old rape.

roan is a total manipulative bastard who has an obsessive need for control in all situations, and vesper is absolutely willing to go along with his schemes and commands. even still, roan hides information from vesper when he feels that she doesn’t need to know it, and generally keeps her in the dark to facilitate easier use of her as a pawn. this is also because he’s a misogynist (a misogynist gay woman, a bizarre breed…) and as such deems that some things are beyond vesper’s understanding.

this guy is a TOTAL SCUMBAG. like to illustrate how awful he is, in the past he’s taken advantage of his young female fans (cuz hes basically a glamorous professional athlete with a high reputation who every aristocrat loves) in a sort of quasi-sexual abuse to satisfy his addiction to sadism. so he’d blackmail or threaten them into staying his sadism slaves so he could torture them. who would believe them? they were just teenage girls, and he was roan armiger, darling of the court with very high degrees of social capital. another example of how scummy he is is the novella length fic i’m working on that involves roan orchestrating a plot under vesper’s nose to purposely get her raped so he can enact revenge on his old rival.

also dont get me wrong vesper is also batshit insane and immoral. she’s viewed as the “heel” to roan’s “face” and is widely booed in the arena for her boastful and vulgar persona and her lack of finesse—she relies on brute force to win. she’s also a huge sadist and takes great pleasure in murdering humans for their meat. she’s a spoiled womanchild who demands sweets and special treatment, and she’s just. Incredibly rude to everyone. also she’s delusional and believes whatever she wants forever i.e. shes insistent that shes a princess and makes everyone around her uncomfortable because what if the ACTUAL princess gets offended??? she is so so funny i love her

perverted quartet + the inevitability of trauma

roan has a great deal of things he's uncomfortable with because of how he grew up. he won't allow himself to be seen nude or vulnerable, he doesn't bottom for penetration, etc. although he makes exceptions for vesper, like letting her occasionally undress him, he doesn't make all of them. i'm thinking of how he won't let her penetrate him, ever. even with the only woman he trusts, the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with, the woman he'd burn down the entire world for, the woman whose death will lead to his suicide--nothing will move him past this.

vesper's fate was sealed from the day she was born. tourmaline conchita's actions ensured that no girl born to the conchita bloodline would ever be able to be a good mother, to raise a normal family, to be happy. vesper cannot break this cycle of abuse through peace, or love, or bettering herself. the only thing she can do is burn it all down and wait for her death.

no one has ever discovered the true extent of seren's suffering, and no one ever will. even if they did, at this point, anything anyone else can do for them will be too little, too late. they were an impressionable teenager once, but the last vestiges of that self have gone up in smoke. with every passing day, the noose slightly tightens around their neck. their complete refusal of help and their hostile environment coupled with how they keep digging their grave deeper means that the only release from their suffering will be death

crush!vesper is hypersexual and very loud about violent porn and her insane fetishes at school. would absolutely be the school slut except everyone assumes she has diseases so she cant get any. she is actually a virgin with this reputation until she meets roan. even then they’re not having insane nasty sex—it is pretty rough, but mostly in a passionate “i need you” way rather than blatant s&m (but there’s shades of it in how they fuck, roan just hasn’t realized he’s a serious sadist yet)

because vesper is clearly a massive masochist, her bullies eventually give up because she keeps moaning. roan says “you know youre being bullied right?” and vesper says “oh i thought they were just being nice…” and roan goes “seren LITERALLY stabbed you with a pencil” and vespers like “well, but i liked it….”

crush au is unfortunately the straight au lol. but i do think its interesting that everyone (except vesper the token cis) ended up with a different gender than canon. roan fully had his agab changed for doylist reasons as previously described but seren and bryn are still the same. part of it is not having the right social environment or terminology to come to identify as nonbinary—like, bryn is absolutely still genderqueer regardless, but everyone genders them as male anyway. it takes a really long time to figure out your identity man i dont think canon bryn figured it out that soon either… how soon is soon. i think seren and bryn are seniors and vesperoan are juniors? idk.

ANYWAYS part of it is also circumstance and conflict. canon seren doesnt so much as identify as nonbinary, but rather they have a complete absence of feelings about their gender or body. they have come to view their physical form as a vessel and a shell and a thing thats been used and owned by too many people to form its own opinions about itself. this is also why they do not take care of their hair and mistreat themselves thru drugs and sleep deprivation. fucked up.

crush!seren isnt nearly as traumatized as her canon counterpart, so she doesn’t feel this extreme disconnect from her self-image and body and gender. however i do think there are some similar themes? she’s gone along with things she shouldn’t have put up with in the name of popularity or grades or drugs. and she has still got regrets and victim blames herself. its just… way less bad, lol. this seren probably grows up to be a mostly functional person, still kinda bitchy but like, average levels of bitchy

thinking about perv quartet dueling… roan absolutely kicks bryn’s ass and is trying so hard not to be smug about it afterward (bc taunting would lower him to bryn’s level) but hes So fucking smug. similarly vesper easily defeats seren except she wont stop bragging about it even when she gets slapped and kicked around and told to stop. also of course seren and bryn watch roan and vesper duel. and lowkey theyre like completely silent and engrossed. because despite their tenuous relationship with this other couple, no one can resist the draw of watching two of the best duelists of their generation duke it out.
