EXO and the CUBE •

There are multiple times we see the symbolism of the Cube in Exo's mvs. Things you (maybe) didn't notice:-

-We find it first appears as a box given to Kyungsoo in Overdose intro (Overdose theory!) as they are trapped in a maze. He sees a vision and empties the sand in it.

-A surprising link I found was in Obsession's concept photos. (Obsession Theory!) I noticed that Baek and Suho stand in and out of a cube literally made of glass & light:

-Tempo is wholly based on this cube and SM further makes things complicated for EXO-Ls 👻. Notice the white text at the bottom of this teaser image:

They solve the puzzles in different rooms which are in the bigger "cube": Jongdae+Chanyeol📝, Ksoo+Xiu♟️, Kai🎹 / Sehun🥂 / Jongdae in the bar, Baek+Suho💡 in the room with a bed (another cube imagery!)

The image below clears all doubts that the 🟥 is nothing but the maze we see in Overdose and Lucky one. (Lucky One theory!)

Another smaller red cube is seen at the very centre of the maze. I'll talk more about this in a different post dedicated to Tempo.

-Notice how the logo of EXODUS - 2nd album is awfully similar to the Necker cube which appears in Don't Mess Up My Tempo Album:

The lyrics of Exodus can be interpreted in two ways 1) they are in a maze in that era 2) this was the past and they escaped it:

The EXO members gathered in Xiumin’s house.

“Alright, everyone has arrived” D.O. started the conversation.

“Nope. Two members are not here” you slyly answered him, but you then wonder when everyone is laughing.

“Hey, hey! I’m here! I manage to get back here!” you turn your head towards the voice. Your eyes are wide open then rush to give him a hug. “Lay Oppa! When did you arrive? How are you?”

“I’m doing great! I can’t wait to go to the haunted house together this year. Yahh~~ How dare you go to the haunted house last time without me?” Lay answers you, instead you answer him back with a laugh.

“Hyung, it was only Chen hyung, Baekhyun hyung and Xiumin hyung went last time. We don’t get the opportunity” Sehun pouts. “True. And we have to wait for almost two years because of the pandemic. Gosh, so long!” Kai pouts as well. The youngest members are asking for attention, instead, the rest of the members chortle and hit their backs consecutively.

“Aigoo all of you…. We went there without you because we went straight to the place from the concert venue last time. Don’t you remember?” Chen defends himself.

“No, and no. We can just meet at the venue after your concert. Or…. Is there something else that happened last time? Are you trying to beat any record of us….” Chanyeol asks, not satisfied with Chen’s answer.

“Aigoo, Chanyeol. Stop being too competitive. We can go there this year together. It’s not like we’re trying to set a record or something. Let’s just go tomorrow, all, together. Okay? Are you happy now?” Xiumin defends Chen. The other members continue to laugh.

“But I don’t think everyone will be here this year….” you utter softly.

“Hahaha. We can hear you. Don’t be sad, Baekhyun is here too” Suho answers you while D.O. points something at your back.

“Hey sweetie…. Surprise” you take a good look at the hand that hugs you from behind, and you know very well the owner of the delicate hands.

“Yah! Yah! Do it in the room, in the room, you two! I don’t care, I have a few spare empty rooms, just go and do your thing!” Xiumin suddenly pushes both of you.

“Hyung! It’s not like we’re doing anything here. We’re just hugging!” Baekhyun’s pout and his feet stomping make everyone burst into laughter.

The members are talking to each other while you and Baekhyun are catching up in the kitchen.

“I miss you, my love” Baekhyun gets closer to you. He plants a kiss on your forehead while continue hugging you. “I miss you too. You sent me a message yesterday. Is this what you mean by I’ll be home tomorrow for Halloween?” he nods at your question.

“Only one day? I thought your military service part doesn’t need to stay in the camp?”

“I really wanted to focus on my service. This is only done one time, and I don’t want to mess this up. I want to be someone that you can look up to. Plus, it’s less than 100 days, so I don’t want to make any things worst now” he explains more, and you finally understand his reason for staying in the camp instead of going home daily. “Can you hold on? It’s 98 days left.”

You bob your head. “It seems like you’ll be back in the camp, not our house….” You let out a sigh, but you can see him smiling.

“I’m here, my love. Of course, I’ll be sleeping at home tonight and tomorrow since it’s Halloween. We are given a day off, a bit more than a day, I guess. So, we have time to…. catch…. things…. up….” you start to giggle when you hear his voice tone goes down; you know well what is happening next.

Xiumin: He’d be the sweetest in trying to make you smile and to make sure you’re okay.  

Suho: It’ll be like walking on a tight rope for him, he doesn’t want to set you off but he’d want to make sure you’re okay, coming to you gently just incase.

Lay: He’d leave you to it, not wanting to chance it being for a reason until he worries too much and asks you what’s wrong.

Baekhyun: He’d be mocking you, pulling faces, making weird sounds just to make you react so he could see you smile. 

Chen: He’d playfully scold you for looking annoyed and would whine playfully, asking you to smile for him. He’s a tease.

Chanyeol: He’d be pulling at the corners of your mouth whilst giggling to make you smile forcefully, until you react to him yourself.

D.O: He understands a resting bitch face, but give you a chance to let him know if anything’s wrong but he’d ask after a little while just to make sure you’re okay.

Kai: He’d instantly be worried and try to check in on you, making sure that there’s nothing wrong. 

Sehun: King of the resting bitch face. He’d sit there and glare at you, pulling his oen just to see if you’d react to him, make you question him on why he’s pulling faces.

if i were the one to form exo in 2012 it would be like this:

dyo, chen, and baekhyun as main vocalists of course

absolutely no rapline. chanyeol will join suho and luhan in the sub vocalists division as a needed baritone. suho is still the leader and luhan will be the pretty boy stan attractor on top of that.

zitao, lay, and kai are the main dancers— with zitao specializing in wushu flashiness

exo-K will be made up of dyo, baekhyun, chanyeol, and suho & exo-M will be made up of chen, luhan, zitao, and lay. kai is a dual member cus he’s The Key (← that’s lore stuff btw)

EXO "Lucky One" theory!

The mv is heavily lore-based as we know. Okay I'll try my best to point out clues I found were significant.

𝐓hey are being taken by the nurses in red visors (unmistakeably agents of RF) on stretchers to a unit. The boys are bound and show resistance. Some of them have very prominent dark blue eyes presumably after being drugged:

(their visuals shine even in poor quality of the video — tf sm doing bare minimum for our boys)

Suho said that the members lose their powers in Lucky One. The make-up and overall look exos have in the mv signifies how they're being experimented on with the color drained from their cheeks. also EXO being glass skin ambassadors in this vid

They have been kidnapped and have lost their powers. (I read this somewhere that Exo came on TV in the June ep of Music Video Bank and explained the main story of Lucky One; Baekhyun emphasized on while the other members use their powers, Kai dances when he is cornered 😭😭).

•We see Lay's dream - since his eye is in focus — how the members use their powers but I think Kai is unable to first see where he wants to teleport since that's how this stuff works.

•Kyungsoo sees Lay being carried out of the room and he uses his power - Force to shatter the glass panes. This might be an action which made them realise the danger they were in and make their escape. He is unmoved and appears with a blank expression most of the time (so do the others).

In the end he seemingly makes it out but we see how he has reached the centre of the maze very similar to Overdose mv. The agents are tracking the boys and only Kyunsoo's location doesn't glow??! We have 12 lines that might mean he tricked the RF.

It is important to mention that I think Overdose is probably the sequel to Lucky One. I also find it interesting how kyungsoo is the only one who is alone obviously they're 9 but why is it always HIM? I have thought about making a separate post on how Kyungsoo interacts in the mvs and his role in the story.

•Another clue we get at the end is that the hues change and appear similar to the aesthetic of 'Kokobop'. The same colors appear when Baekhyun is drugged.

This is one clue that Ko ko bop happens after Lucky One! The second clue I found is the drug the nurses inject in Baekhyun (and probably everyone else). In Kokobop also the members appear dazed and sleep in weird places, they are drugged and imagining stuff like giant burgers.

•Ohkay so our H2O buddies Suho and Xiumin are seen trapped in white chambers.

But we have to remember it's all in BnW. And they are the ones who combined their powers to make 🧊 and glasses (Xiumin) of water (Suho) for themselves, maybe to overcome the effects of the drugs

Oh! I just found out how they were the ones banging on the walls of the Overdose maze in the mv!! They are also known as counterparts in the lore. So this similarity and interaction is definitely not a coincidence. It's interesting how their role is significant in the overall concept they have and maybe I'll talk about them separately in a different post!

Now I want to mention some ~clues~ which I don't have much interpretations for, at least yet:

We see how Baekhyun encourages(?) Chanyeol to use his powers — as they enter a room — while he himself is not shown to use his in the mv.

Lastly I wanna mention, because I can't think anymore my brain is clouded with so much info & finding clues; is that Chanyeol's Red hair (he looks fire oml) is not just an aesthetic but matches the concept. In a way it explains his role in Power and Obsession (I'll try to explain some other things in another post!) Also, shoutout to @faakeid on Mind Dissociation theory!

Chanyeol - *He’d want to ask why you’re walking around in underwear, but he wouldn;t be complaining, but would be severly confused yet very turned on by the look of milk being poured over your breasts*

Baekhyun - *He’d be so happy, asking the stupid question, “this just for me?” as he runs towards you, admiring you and trying to resist the urge to lick the milk off you*

Sehun - *He’d be too stunned to speak for a change, not knowing how to react or what to do. But once he realises you were purposely trying to seduce him he’d be so happy to get down to buisness*

exo was the reason i joined the kpop fandom

i met them in 2014, and i couldn’t be more glad to have had them all in my life for so many years

they were my first album, they were my first comeback

they were my first cries of sadness and also of joy

so seeing them right now completing ten tears together, seeing yixing departing from sm (but promising always being an exo member), and also luhan of all people thanking them for his journey as an artist makes me cry of pure gratitude from everything they gave me

i love them and will always do with my whole heart, i couldn’t have asked for a better group to love
