"You better not forget about us, Beverly Hills." You felt Bishop clap his hand over your shoulder, a big friendly grin stretched out across his face. You rolled your eyes at his words but couldn't help the giddy smile from spreading across your face, especially with all the supportive Mayans you viewed as uncles and brothers looking just as thrilled as your own father.
"Well, I have to finish packing, but I'll drop by later." You told them, feeling Bishop playfully shake your shoulder before you stepped toward Riz. Your father pecked the top of your head and pinched your cheek, snickering to himself when you swatted at his wrist with a huff and an eye roll.
"Don't stay out too late with your friends, 'ight?" Riz called as you headed toward the door, chuckles spreading throughout the bar when you shot him a glare over your shoulder. No matter how old you got, he still took it upon himself to embarrass you in front of others every chance he got.
Opening the door and throwing one last wave over your shoulder, you stepped out of the clubhouse and headed down the rickety steps. You reached into the pocket of your jacket, feeling around for your keys but your attention turned away from your parked car when the gate slid open and two motorcycles rolled in. Ah, fuck. You bit the inside of your cheek and pulled the keys free from your pocket but just as you pressed down to unlock the car, you heard it:
"Aye, (Y/N)!"
"Fuck," You sighed and turned around, planting a polite smile on your face while you waited for Angel and Ezekiel to finish taking off their helmets. Angel moved first and the only thing you saw before he tugged you into a tight embrace was his big dorky grin. You could smell the cigarette smoke reeking off him and grunted, hoping the smell wouldn't cling to your clothes. "Hey, Angel."
"Hey yourself, Beverly Hills." Angel laughed as he pulled away.
"I'm not even going to Beverly Hills." You groaned. "The new place isn't anywhere near there!"
"But with that fancy new job, you'll live there someday, right? You better tell the pretty girls about the attractive biker down in Santo Padre." Angel said, pushing his sunglasses up to rest atop his slicked-back hair. "Make sure to tell 'em he's funny and hot and-"
"Yeah, yeah, I'll tell them all about Coco." You grinned when he clicked his tongue and lightly pushed your shoulder with his fist, his eyes rolling dramatically. He glanced over his shoulder at his younger brother and glanced back at you, wiggling his brows and smirking before he spun on his heels and headed into the clubhouse.
"Hey." Ezekiel greeted gently, tugging his gloves off his hands and offering a sweet smile. You remembered a time when just his smile would make you weak at the knees and giggle like a lovesick idiot. But it only filled you with bitterness looking at it now. His tongue darted out, wetting his lips as he glanced toward your car. "Leaving so soon?"
"I gotta finish packing." You answered.
"Ah, right, you got a new job away from here, right? I'm happy for you. It's hard leaving this place, take it from me." Ezekiel sighed heavily, stuffing his gloves into the pocket of his jeans and curling his fingers around the front of his kutte. "Listen, (Y/N)... can I buy you a drink? For old times' sake? I always miss you every time you visit. Thought it'd be nice to catch up with you."
You inhaled deeply, eyes flickering toward the clubhouse when the Mayans inside cracked up with laughter at some unheard joke or story. It'd been nearly two years since you'd last seen Ezekiel Reyes face to face and spoken with him. Two long years since you'd stood in his trailer with tears in your eyes while he kept his head bowed, never uttering a single word as you tore into him. You'd broken up with him when he couldn't promise to keep his distance from Emily Galindo, a married woman bound to be his demise. He'd called and called but you ignored him until Riz stepped in and forced him to back off.
"No, thanks, Ezekiel. I have nothing to say to you if I'm honest. Everything I did want to say was said years ago. I hope you're doing well but you were never there for me when we were dating so why would I need you as a friend? You showed me how conditional your loyalty was." You told him and turned away from him, heading toward your car and opening the door. Ezekiel followed because being stubborn ran in the Reyes family, and reached out to cup your elbow.
"I know, I'm sorry. I fucked up. I... I have no excuses, (Y/N). I miss you. I miss us. I miss what we have and what we could've had-"
"I don't love you anymore." You told him bluntly, watching his face crumble in a matter of seconds. He released your elbow and stepped back, his gaze dropping onto the ground and lips pressing tightly together. "That love faded a long time ago, Ezekiel. It's best if you forget about us... 'cause it's never happening again."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Light shuffling wakes me from a blissful dream. My eyes adjust to the light shining through the window blinds. I rub the sleepiness away and make eye contact with the bare back of Ezekiel Reyes. Shamelessly, I take in every inch and mark of his body, happy that he's mine.
Ez turns around feeling eyes on him. "Like what you see cariña" (darling) the corner of his mouth curves up into a devilish smirk.
I'm sure I'm drooling at this point. Recapturing my composure, I throw a pillow at the back of his head. "It surprises me that your ego is bigger than your head" I retort.
He turns away from the dresser facing me “you didn’t mind my head size when it was between your legs,” a shit eating smile filling his face.
“Ezekiel Reyes!” I scold giggling. Warmth floods my cheeks as I hide underneath the covers. Large hands make they’re way up my legs, kisses trailing close behind them. My breath hitches as his lips make contact to my inner thigh. His teeth nip at certain spots making sure to leave many love bites. My fingers scratch the back of his head leading him further up to where my body most craved. He licks my slit, his focus now on teasing my clit.
A soft moan escapes my lips as my hips involuntarily buck up closer to him. Ez smirks kissing up to my sternum. He looks up to me with mischievous eyes. I pout from the loss of contact, “you just want to get me worked up.”
His hand molds my breast while playing with my nipple, “You look so sexy when you’re frustrated.” His hot tongue connects to my erect nipple sucking and tugging lightly, the other hand not stopping its menstrations. He bites the side of my breast causing loud moans to escape.
My hips grind against his abdomen looking for friction and much needed relief. “Fuck.. Ezekiel” my nails scratch along his shoulders driving him further on. “Please mi corazon” (my heart) I moaned, needing more of him. His hand leaves my breast, sliding down to where I ache the most. Two digits pump in me while his thumb gives attention to my clit. I ride along Ez’s hand getting closer and closer to my climax. His fingers feel like magic, hitting every sensitive part. I’m arching from the immense pressure of pleasure that’s fighting to be released. Just as I’m reaching the edge a ringing freezes Ez’s actions. Ezekiel looks to me, then to his phone across the room on the dresser, then back to me. “Don’t you even think about it,” The need for release takes over my emotional state.
Ez kisses my forehead, “Lo siento mi amor.” (I'm sorry my love) He climbs off of the bed making his way to the dresser and answers his phone. He turns away from me talking low to the person on the receiving end. I don't know if it’s my sexual frustrations or the fact that he’s acting sneaky but something was definitely up. Ez’s hush conversation ends as he rushes to get his clothes on. I sit up worried, “Is something wrong with the club? Is Angel alright? Bishop?” Here I am frustrated since we didn’t finish, yet my Mayan family could need help. Even worse they could be hurt. God I’m so selfish.
“No hermosa, everyone is fine. The club needs me for a run. I can’t say no to them,” He eases my mind. “Rest baby, I’ll be back before you know it.” He kisses my head rubbing the crease on my forehead.
“Be careful, I know it's just a run but things can go bad so quick, so please be careful.” I hug him snuggling my head to his chest hearing his beautiful heart beat.
He rubs my back holding me close, “See you in a few, sleep mi corazon” He takes my face in his large hands planting a soft kiss to my lips. After a brief moment he lets go and grabs his kutte from the corner chair. I hear the door close seconds later and sigh sadly. He just left and I’m missing him like crazy. I’m so whipped. Maybe I should show him how bad I’m missing him.
Grabbing my vibrator from the nightstand drawer, and setting my phone on the stand to catch all my naughty actions. I flip the switch to High on my vibrator moving it along my wet slit. The vibration re-excites my sensitive clit, as I rub it through my folds, lubing it up. My other hand finds my breast playing and tugging my nipple. “Ezekiel I want you so bad baby” I moan imagining his hands, his tongue, his huge thick cock. “I want you fucking every bit of me to pieces.” I rub against the vibrator gathering friction on the bundle of nerves. Feeling tired of waiting for release I thrust the vibrator into me. Not stopping to get used to the size, I thrust it fast in and out of me hitting my g-spot repeatedly. Taking my hand away from my breast I moved it down to my clit rubbing the sensitive bud to push me over the edge. “Fuck! Right there Ezekiel!” I moan arching my back. A split second later the burst of release and pleasure fills my body. I take the vibrator out seeing my cum drip along the sleek tool to the tip as I rub my orgasm out. “Would’ve been better if you were actually here,” I look at the camera. “I miss you, baby. Come home soon. I love you,” I blow a kiss toward the camera and end the recording.
After a long hot shower, I lather myself in lotion and get dressed. Checking how the naughty video looks, I send it to Ez satisfied with the results. A ding sounds from across the room. Investigating where the sound came from leads to Ez’s forgotten phone. For someone with great memory he forgets a lot of stuff. I’ll call Angel to let Ez know.
“Hey princess, you finally wise up and realize I’m the hottest Reyes?” Angel answers.
I roll my eyes laughing, “Sadly you’re mistaken Angel, Philippe will always be number one.”
“I’m gonna tell Ez you said that.”
“What makes you think Ez doesn’t know,” I smirk.
“Gross” he groans is distaste.
“Like your face. Anywho, how did the run go?”
“What run? Everyone is given the day off until the party tonight”
Confusion wracks my brain, “none of you went on a run this morning?”
“Not that I know of. What’s wrong?” He asks worriedly.
“Uh nothing, I just thought Ezekiel was with you and the guys. My mistake, sorry to bother you Angel.”
“You’re no bother princess, let me know if you need anything.”
“Okay thanks Angel, bye.” My heart sinks. Ez lied to me. He actually lied and broke his promise. Why would he do that. It has to be important if he needed to lie to me. Yea that’s it.
I look towards his phone thinking back to who he was talking to earlier. If it wasn’t the club then who? Going against my conscience I look through his messages to see Emily pop up on his recent. The messages showing meet up places on days Ez left early to do club business or met up with his dad. My heart is breaking into pieces. Shattering even more with the lies and betrayal. He knew how I felt about starting this relationship, about the trust issues, and trauma. He knew every part of me yet decided to destroy all that was built between us. Liquid drips onto my arms, I wipe my eyes not realizing the tears pouring. I don’t want to cry. I shouldn’t cry. Not over someone who didn’t truly love me. Yet I cry for the love that I gave him. I cry for being dumb enough to fall so hard for him, for giving my all to him.
~Months prior~
Slowly slipping out of strong arms I reach for my shirt and panties laying across the floor. Trying to be stealthy, I look for my missing shorts. How can someone lose shorts in a trailer?! There’s literally no way it’s too small, but of course my luck. I yelp as I feel myself being pulled back into a warm chest. Ez chuckles beside me, happy to catch me by surprise. “Buenos dias hermosa” (good morning beautiful) He kisses my temple leading more down the curve of my neck.
I hit his firm chest, “You scared me half to death, jerk!” Trying to hold back my smile, but Ezekiel being Ezekiel can see right through it.
His hand frames the side of my face as his thumb lightly trails across my bottom lip. “You weren’t trying to leave without saying goodbye were you?” His brown eyes bore into mine taking in every feature.
Not able to lie to him, “Yes, but only to get to the office before Chucky,” I explain while trying to climb off the bed again only to be pulled back to straddling Ez’s waist. “This is what got us in this situation in the first place, Reyes,” pointing to our current position.
His big hands slowly crawl their way up my bare thighs causing shivers to run up my spine. “You’re too irresistible, and you didn’t seem to mind it. I do remember you begging for more.”
Curse his memory. I hit his chest, ”Not my fault you kept following me around, I felt bad. You were like a lost puppy.” I smile thinking back to the first day we met. “Speaking of memory, where are my shorts?”
A mischievous smirk slips across his lips, “now what do I get if I tell you?” His hand now on my ass, pushing me slightly on his erection.
I jokingly ponder his question, grinding my hips slowly to tease, while tapping my chin in a thinking motion. “Hmm.. Not getting caught by Bishop, nor beaten to death. Oh and possibly get buried in the desert.” His smirk falls off his face. “But knowing Bishop he’ll probably castrate you first,” I grin thinking how protective the Mayan President can be.
He groans, pulling my shorts from behind his pillow. “Take them.”
“You were hiding them!” I laugh pinching his side teasing.
“I didn’t want you leaving,” he taps his finger along my thigh nervously.
“As sweet as that sounds, I don't want your death on my hands if Bishop catches us,” I joke.
“I want Bishop to know,” he states confidently. He sits up having us chest to chest as he watches my features. “I want us to date, be a couple in front of the club, in public. I don't want to hide it,” his hand caresses my face.
“Ezekiel,” I stop his hand. “I can’t do that. I can’t put sheer dumb trust in another person, not with my emotions and body.” Heat fills my chest from the traumatic memories. “I will not put myself in a position to be beaten down and taken advantage of.” Slipping out of his hold, I put my shorts and flats on trying to make a quick exit.
His hand gently wraps around my arm catching my attention. “I don't want you for your beauty and body, you’re so much more than that. You’re so strong and very smart, your humor and wit make you, you.” His arms wrap around my waist pulling me a bit closer to him. “I will never hurt you. I’m not that low life thug. I will never lie to you or make you feel uncomfortable. I respect you so much. Just give me a little trust, I promise you won't regret it,” he begs, his eyes full of love?
A knock on the trailer door interrupts the moment. “It’s Chucky, I brought by coffees for a morning wake up,” he explains happily.
I walk over to the door, opening it coming face to face with Chucky. “Thanks Chucky,” I take the two cups. “Do you mind letting Bishop know that I need to talk with him? He’s gonna wanna know I’m dating his prospect,” I look over to Ez smiling.
“Of course young love is beautiful, I hope to witness it myself one of these days.” Chucky sighs dreamily.
I peck his cheek, “You will Chucky. She’ll be one lucky woman,” I assure him.
Muscled arms snake around my stomach as Ez’s chest warms my back. “Chucky, y/n is gonna be late to clock in. I won't keep her for too long,” he kisses my temple.
“I love you Chucky, thank you!!” I squeal as Ez shuts the door and picks me up kissing me all over the face.
~End of Flashback~
My phone ringing brings me out of my haze. I answer it hearing the one man I didn’t want to contact. “Hey I’m calling from a pay phone, I think I left mine on your dresser. Any way I’ll be by to pick you up for the party tonight in a few minutes.”
I hold back from crying anymore, not wanting to show how hurt I am. “Don't worry about me, I’ll drive over by myself,” trying to keep my voice steady.
“Are you sure the house is on the way.”
On the way from where? Is what kills me. “I’m sure. I’ll see you there, bye.” I hung up before he could get another word in, not able to handle a longer conversation. Grabbing a duffle bag from the closet I pack every belonging of his. Erasing any sign of him from my home. As I fold the last of his shirts, his scent takes me in its embrace. I’m really going to miss him. Holding his shirt to my chest I hug it letting the last of my tears drip away.
After pulling myself together, I toss his stuff in my Jeep and head over to the club house. Chucky opens the gate and greets me. “Lovely night to let loose, huh y/n?”
I can’t help but always feel comfort from Chucky, he’s a true sweetheart. “Indeed Chucky. Make sure you get to enjoy the party a bit too.” I pat his arm before driving into the lot.
Hopping out, I head into the clubhouse to see Bishop playing a card game with Hank and Reaper. I greet the men hugging them one by one, leaving the last to be Bishop. “Can I talk to you in the temple?”
He nods a look of worry flashes across his face, “Of course mija. We’ll be back.” He tells Hank. We walk back to the temple, him taking a seat as I stand. “What’s wrong y/n? Did something happen?” He scopes out my face for any bruise or marks.
“Yes but it's not for you to worry about, Bish. Just letting you know I’ll be in Charming for the next couple of days.”
“Why are you leaving? Did the prospect do something to you?!” He starts to stand up to head toward the door.
I stop him shaking my head, “There is a job opening at the hospital there that I’ve been invited to try out. I think it’s a great opportunity for me since I’m back on my feet.” I explain leaving Ezekiel out of the situation.
“But that’s not the only reason. You look like you’ve been crying. What did the prospect do.” He demands an answer.
“Nothing that deals with the club. He didn’t touch me nor hurt me in any physical way. I can’t deal with being in a relationship, they don’t work well with me.” There’s no point in getting Ez into trouble with the club.
He gets up and embraces me, “If that’s what you want then I can’t stop you. Just make sure you’re doing it for you and not just running away.” He kisses the top of my head.
“I’ll call you when I get to Charming,” I pat his chest. “Please keep this between us, for now?” He nods his head in agreement. “Thank you for everything, El Presidente” I smile leaving him to head back to the Jeep. As I exit the club I come face to face with Ezekiel.
He smiles seeing that it’s me, “There you are hermosa,” he leans down to peck my lips. I step back avoiding the gesture. Confusion washes over him as I step around him to get to my car. He follows close behind, “Hey, wait up!” He grabs my arm only for me to yank away from him. “What’s wrong mi amor?” (my love)
“How was your run?” I steal my voice, staring at his brown orbs.
Worry taking over his emotions, “It was fine, everything went well. I’m okay.”
I scoff shaking my head at his lies. “Here,” pulling his phone out of my pocket and shoves it into his chest. “Emily has been messaging all day.”
Realization flashes through him, “wait baby no it’s not like that!” He tries to grab my hands.
“Don’t touch me. You lost the privilege the moment you decided to lie and sneak around. I don't want any part of your charades.” Tiredness heavy in my voice.
“Let me explain, please,” he pleads. “I didn’t cheat. I only helped her with a business issue,” he explains hurriedly.
“I don't need your explanation nor do I want it, Ezekiel. It’s not fair for you to live in your past, while you tell me to move on from my own. It’s hypocritical of you to think she loves you. Emily is a married woman, she loves Galindo, she’s moved on.” I sigh grabbing his duffle bag of belongings from my car dropping them at his feet. “At least I know I’m not the only stupid one in this relationship.”
“I don't love Emily, I love you, you are my everything. You make everyday worth it. I can’t lose you.”
“The problem, Ezekiel, is I don’t believe you. Your words are just that. Words. No meaning behind them. I’m not gonna give my time and trust to a man who doesn’t respect me. I’m done. It’s over. Don't contact me, don't go to my house.” I rush into the Jeep starting it and backing up out of the lot. The only thought is to drive away and don't look back. If I look, then I know I’ll turn and go back into his arms.
A/N: please feedback and let me know if there should be a part 2
Ez stood behind you, his hands on your waist and chin resting on your shoulder, as you sifted through the contents of your bag in search of your keys. His had been left at home, a byproduct of taking your car to the clubhouse instead of his bike, and he made no attempt to make the search easier as he nosed at your jaw.
You were grateful that he couldn’t see your face though you knew he could sense your amusement as you playfully rolled your eyes. “You’re making this harder than it needs to be, Ezekiel.”
Ez made no effort to stop as you both heard the the barely contained laughter in your voice when you tilted your head to give him more room. His lips curled into a smile and you hummed at the feeling of his facial hair brushing your skin as he pressed a soft kiss to your shoulder.
“Sorry, amor.” You both knew that it was a non-apology, the lack of remorse in his tone clear, and you shook your head fondly as he squeezed your hip. “You just look so beautiful tonight. I can’t help myself,” he defended as he rested his chin on your shoulder.
“Flattery will get you nowhere, Ezekiel,” you teased as you finally located your keys and made a noise of triumph upon tugging them out of your bag.
His hand dipped beneath the hem of your top and you sighed softly as the heat of his palm radiated through your midsection. When you leaned into his touch without a second thought, Ez grinned and countered, ““You sure about that? Seems like flattery will get me everywhere.”
You made an indignant noise, something crossed between a laugh and a huff, and Ez made no effort to hide his own laughter. You shivered at the feeling of his breath on your neck and allowed him to guide you into the house in a daze. He remained close to you, his body molded against yours, as he guided you down the hall and into the bedroom.
Once you reached the bedroom, he turned you to face him and grinned when your eyes met his. “Hi,” he greeted, eyes shining with mirth as you wrapped your arms around his neck and raked your fingers through his hair.
“Hi,” you returned easily, matching his grin as you stepped impossibly closer. You took a moment to drag your eyes down his form, taking in the jeans that hugged his thighs and t-shirt that clung to his arms, before you met his eyes once more and offered him a smirk. “Come here often?”
A slight flush rose over Ez’s cheeks as he shook his head fondly but you could see the grin that overtook him as he dipped his head. “To the home we share?” When you nodded, he snickered, “Yeah, I’d say I do.”
You grinned triumphantly and leaned in to press a quick kiss to his lips. “You’re the one who loves me. You’re stuck with the cheesy lines,” you reminded him as you dropped your hands to his shoulders and began toying with the leather of his kutte.
“I do love you,” he confirmed with a grin as he eagerly shed the leather and tossed it onto the dresser. “And your cheesy lines. And bad jokes,” he continued as he began walking you back toward the bed.
“Hey, my jokes aren’t bad! My sense of humor is impeccable, thank you,” you defended with a laugh as your knees hit the foot of the mattress. “Your jokes are rooted in existentialism and nerd shit.”
“You’re the one who just used ‘existentialism’ to describe my humor,” Ez pointed out as you dropped to sit at the foot of the bed, “who’s the nerd now?”
“Shut up and kiss me.”
Ez laughed but complied with your demand. He pressed a knee into the mattress and a hand to your shoulder. Your arms returned to his neck, your hands brushing the hair at the nape of his neck, as his mouth pressed to yours.
The buzz of a cell phone broke through the haze that clouded your mind as Ez’s lips moved against your own. You could feel the vibrations against your thigh and groaned as Ez paused. He tugged his phone from his pocket before he dropped his head back down with a grin and pressed a kiss to your jaw.
“It’s yours,” he informed you happily, his hands drifting higher as he nudged the fabric of your top up your torso. “Not club shit tonight.”
“Wouldn’t expect it to be,” you sighed as you tugged the device from your pocket and hit the ignore button without even glancing at the name. “Half the club’s probably passed out somewhere or balls deep in someone by now,” you teased as you tossed the device onto the nightstand and turned it face down.
Ez, now unfazed by the cursedness that only seemed to appear after spending an extended period of time around the other members of the club, laughed at your reply and shook his head fondly as you situated yourselves more comfortably on the bed. “You have such a way with words, mi amor,” he mumbled against your skin before returning to your mouth to press a searing kiss to your lips.
“We can’t all be poets, Ezekiel,” you returned with a breathless laugh once he pulled away and dipped his head to trail kisses along your collarbone.
He laughed but didn’t respond as he shifted to settle between your thighs. He pushed the fabric of your shirt higher and smiled when you tugged it up and over your head. He pressed his lips to your heated skin, nipping at the spots he’d memorized so easily, as he made his way to the waistband of your jeans.
As his hands moved to your thighs, brushing the denim of your jeans, the vibrating of your cellphone cut through the quiet of the room. You huffed at the intrusion and turned to glance at the nightstand as Ez sat up. “Sorry,” you sighed as you reached for your phone.
“It’s okay,” he assured you as he unbuttoned his flannel and tossed it aside before settling into the pillows beside you. “I’ve done it before,” he reminded you as he turned his head to face you. “Take it.”
You glanced at the phone and frowned upon seeing your best friend’s name. It was unlike her to call, especially so late, but a flicker of annoyance remained as you answered. “Are you dying?” A burst of surprised laughter escaped Ez at your question and you shot him a half-hearted grin as you continued, “Because if you’re not dying or actively experiencing a miracle, our friendship might be over.”
“No, I’m not dying,” Kayla huffed, unfazed by your response. You heard shuffling on the other end of the line and frowned as you waited for her to explain the insistence of her call. You’d seen a handful of other notifications - Snapchat, Discord, even an Instagram DM - and wondered what was so important. “The update dropped early! Go download it.”
You frowned, not quite understanding her explanation through the haze of the alcohol you’d consumed and the lust that was clouding your brain. “What? What update?”
She scoffed at your question. “What update? The only update that matters,” she insisted before the sound of light music filled the background. “The Animal Crossing update,” she reminded you, “the thing that’s given half the internet the will to live at the moment. It’s live now! Go download it, it’s so cool!”
“Wait, what? It’s early! Like, a whole day early.” With your lust momentarily forgotten, you climbed out of bed and bounded down the hall, cellphone pressed to your ear as you went searching for your Switch.
You could hear Ez laughing as he called, “Where are you going? We were in the middle of something!” His tone was light, covering the twinge of disappointment you knew was mostly brought on by the alcohol, but he wasn’t truly upset. He was mildly confused as he listened to you cheer and you knew it wouldn’t be long before he wandered into the living room to see what had pulled you away from him.
After a few long minutes of silence, Ez climbed out of bed himself and wandered into the living room to find you. Though he tried to hide his laughter at the sight of you, you heard him clearly as he found you on the couch.
You were sure that you were a sight, dressed only in a pair of jeans and your bra, as you sat on the couch with your knees pressed to your chest. You held your Switch firmly in hand as your phone rested on the couch and he watched as you pressed buttons almost frantically.
He glanced at the television and saw your Island Representative running around madly. You knew that he was there but you paid him no mind as you huffed at the sight of one of your islanders. “Sprocket needs to go. I want him to leave so I can get a new islander. Shino or Marlo would be amazing.”
“I have Marlo!” Ez heard the voice of Kayla’s husband and bit back a laugh as he leaned against the doorframe.
“Bitch,” you huffed, pouting as you shook a tree. “I want cool islanders. Mine are annoying.”
Ez watched for another moment before he shook his head fondly and padded down the hall back to the bedroom. He gathered a t-shirt for you - he knew that you’d be distracted for a good bit - before heading into the kitchen to grab water for you both. When he settled onto the couch beside you, you glanced over at him and grinned.
You reached out and muted your phone before leaning in to give him a quick kiss. “Sorry,” you laughed as you gestured to your controller, “I got distracted.”
“It’s okay,” Ez assured you as he pulled you in closer and rested his head on your shoulder. “Take your time. I’ll be here.”
It was a small gesture, a moment that would likely be forgotten in a few months time - after Angel teased you both - but it meant more to you than he likely understood. Though life threw distractions at you both more often than not, at the end of the day, when all was said and done, the one thing that was left was each other and you were more than happy about that.
Author’s Note: Sorry for the lack of updates. I have, as evidenced by this fic, been playing Animal Crossing. I’ve also been having some. Issues. In my professional life so if y’all could cross your fingers and send good vibes that I get this job I just applied for, I’d appreciate it.  I’m going to spend my Thanksgiving break writing (shout out living nearly 900 miles from family in the middle of a panorama). Mostly to prepare for Kinkmas but to try and get a fic up next week, too.
You considered yourself to be rather laidback when it came to exes. You chose your partners carefully and deliberately, ensuring the relationship wouldn't end up being a waste of time. It's why you'd been so certain about Ezekiel Reyes.
The sweet, charismatic biker caught your eye the moment he'd sauntered into the courthouse as a prospect. He appeared humble and thoughtful, taking his duties as prospect seriously and often helping you tend to the bar whenever possible. You knew his past from the other members. A young man set on avenging his mom faced the consequences of accidentally shooting an officer. His story had been gut-wrenching and you sympathized with him.
But, as you looked through the trailer's window and watched him speak with Emily Galindo, you wondered if you had made the right choice.
"How convenient," You murmured as Ez entered the trailer and tossed his gloves aside. "Showing up whenever I need you."
"She has no idea it's your birthday, (Y/N). Don't be like that."
"Don't be like what, Ezekiel?" You snapped and he blinked, leaning back slightly at the irritated tone lacing your voice. Sally stirred beside you, a soft whine emitting from her throat. You ran your hand over her soft fur and inhaled sharply, attempting to ease your growing anger.
"Em's done nothing to you. I don't get why you hate her so much." You took another deep breath and rubbed the bridge of your nose at his words. For a guy known for his intelligence and quick-thinking, he sure was clueless when it came to his little ex.
"You're always so quick to defend her. What's the real reason behind your loyalty? Because that little blonde brat doesn't give a shit about you, Ez."
His brows knitted and a frown stretched out on his face. "Don't call her that-"
"Oh, my god." You breathlessly laughed and stood up, snatching your phone and wallet from the table. You shook your head, almost in disbelief, and faced him.
"If you want to be her little servant so badly, go for it. Don't come crying back to me when she keeps choosing her husband over you."
"Well, fuck."
Who would've thought that on a perfectly nice Friday evening, you'd answer the doorbell expecting to see a delivery driver only to see your ex-boyfriend standing there bloody and bruised. The very guy you'd last seen when they hauled him away in handcuffs for murder.
Ezekiel fucking Reyes.
You stared at him for a long moment, looking over the blood and slowly forming bruises on his face. A trickle of blood dripped down from his bloody nose, staining his kutte. Your eyes automatically drifted to the patch on the kutte. Prospect. That fucking idiot. No doubt he'd only recently gotten out of prison, and there was, a pretty little prospect for the Mayans.
"I thought you were smart, Reyes. Graduating with honors and all that. When the mighty fall, they really do take quite the tumble, huh?" Your arms crossed across your chest and you felt your jaw clenched. The only thing you saw when you looked into his was Emily and her stupid little smile. The little vixen that had snatched your best friend and boyfriend right from under your nose.
Ez winced and his honey-colored eyes turned downward. "I'm sorry... My bike has a punctured tire and your house was closest." He explained quietly. It surprisingly stung to hear his reasoning.
"I'll give Angel a call-"
"No, no, he'll make a big deal out of this."
"Yeah, well, I wouldn't blame him. You look shit." You spoke bluntly and a grin cracked on his face, though it only made him wince and hiss lowly. Rolling your eyes and moving aside, you motioned for him to step inside.
You gathered any and all medical supplies you had stored away and dumped them onto the small dining table, having Ez take a seat and tilt his head up while you worked. Spending so much time around Angel had taught you how to patch somebody up after a rough day and so you put your skills to work.
"You're unusually quiet." Ez said softly. "I expected a big lecture on fighting and driving motorcycles."
"I don't know what to say." You replied, focusing on a small cut on his red cheek. "This has never happened before. My exes don't usually show up at night looking for a doctor."
"I can start the small talk-"
"Don't."
"I thought you left. Angel said you left Santo Padre a year after..." Ez trailed off and you paused your movements, meeting his softened gaze. You weren't sure if he meant a year after dumping you or a year after getting locked up, but either way, his soft tone annoyed you. Your jaw clenched and you leaned back, flicking the damp cotton swab aside.
"Yeah, I went to school. I got engaged and when that went to shit, I came back. Now, I'm an event coordinator for a town that's slowly dying because of the little fucking cartel on our doorstep. But I'm sure you know all about that, prospect." You spat the word out as if it were venom and Ez immediately looked away from you, looking rather small for a man with manslaughter on his record.
"Thanks for patching me up." Ez muttered. "And... I'm sorry for everything."
"Remember how we agreed not to catch feelings…?"
You nearly winced at his words, fingers drumming against the wood of the bar. You forced out a hum of acknowledgement and nodded, urging him to continue despite the dread bubbling in your stomach. Your eyes flickered past the handsome Mayan to look at his brother but luckily, snores escaped the bearded man and a dribble of drool trickled down onto the seat. If Ez's words hadn't rooted you in your spot, you would've rushed over to snap a picture of him.
"Yeah, I remember." You cleared your throat, looking back at Ez. His soft eyes studied your face for a moment, obviously having picked up on your tone.
Licking his lips, Ez briefly glanced down at his beer bottle. "I, uh..."
"Spit it out, Reyes. You're making me nervous."
"Right." He breathily laughed, his boyish smile making heat erupt on your face. Ezekiel Reyes had many good qualities but his smile never failed to make you feel like a little kid talking to their crush.
The familiar rumble of motorcycles pulled his attention away from you and a small frown appeared on his face. He wordlessly turned back to you and nodded toward the backdoor, rising from the barstool when you nodded. Your shift was practically over anyway, you doubted Bishop would care.
"What's so important you can't tell me infront of your boys?" You asked, a hint of playfulness in your voice when you mentioned the other Mayans. Ez chuckled softly, pulling the door open for you and stepping out after you. When he didn't respond, your throat tightened, anxiously gnawing on your bottom lip. The fact he had brought up the agreement to never catch feelings only intensified the anxiety. Only Hank had noticed your ever-growing crush on the youngest Reyes but he'd sworn he wouldn't tell a soul.
"I promise it's nothing bad." Ez assured you, casting a glance over his shoulder during the short trek to his trailer. You forced another hum and eyed the trailer before following him inside.
His home had become increasingly familiar to you over the last few months. You'd find yourself visiting his trailer after late night shifts, exchanging stories over some beers before allowing the booze to do the acting. The mornings were often filled with light teasing about his tiny bed and complaining about hangovers. It'd only taken two flings before you had decided to set some ground rules, one of them being about feelings. After some turbulent relationships, you wanted to focus on everything but romance. And Ez- still mending the heart Gaby had broken- happily agreed.
But now, as you sat down on the couch, you wondered if the observant man had noticed something. If he had, you were certain he'd let you down easy.
"So, what is it, Reyes?" You asked and leaned back, propping your arm up and praying the fake coolness looked real.
Inhaling deeply, Ez leaned against the counter. "I wanted you to hear this from me, not Angel." His words made you grimace and he chuckled again upon seeing your face.
"Go on, then."
"I realized I haven't been completely honest with myself since we started sleeping together. I thought it would take for ever to let her go but once we started seeing each other I really grew to like you, (Y/N). Everything about you. I mean, shit... You deserve better than the clubhouse. I know the last thing you want to do is get involved with a Mayan but Angel mentioned some things and...  just friends don’t look at each other like that."
"What exactly are you saying, Ez?" You asked breathlessly.
"I'm saying I'm in love with you."
Imagine:
Seeing Ez again years later
Staring at the beige house, Ez considered turning his bike back on and peeling off down the street. But the memories kept him planted in the driveway. Ever since being released and returning to Santo Padre, he'd been wanting to see you. He had expected to hear about you skipping down after graduation. But when he asked, Angel messily scribbled down an address and patted him on the shoulder.
So, there he was... Sat in the driveway of your new suburban home, white picket fence and all. Part of him wanted to leave and let you continue your life without his involvement but another part desperately wanted to see what had become of your life since his arrest.
Heaving a sigh and dangling his helmet from one of the bike handles, he walked up to the porch and eyed the lights hung up on the window. He hesitated, finger hovering over the doorbell. He still had time to turn back, to run back to a life you'd be disappointed by. But he'd already made the journey and so he pressed the smooth button. The anxiety crept up his back, heart folding into itself with each agonizing minute until the door swung away and his senses were assaulted by the scent of peppermint.
"Yes?" Jesus, you still looked the same. Your eyes widened at the sight of him and Ez half-expected the door to slam in his face. He deserved it.
"Ezekiel..." You breathed softly and Ez smiled.
"Hey." He greeted, stuffing his hands into the pockets of his jeans. Glancing back inside, you stepped out onto the porch and pulling the door along, only leaving it cracked open.
"I didn't know you'd gotten out! Felipe didn't mention anything."
"Sounds like Pops." Ez laughed.
Eyes softening, you crossed your arms and leaned against the doorway, eyes trailing down to look at the patch on his kutte. You frowned but didn't mention his new affiliation. "How have you been?"
"Good, I guess. It's nice being back home."
"Is it?" You chuckled dryly. "Santo Padre hasn't changed much."
"And you? How have you been?" Ez asked before motioning around him. "I see you've done well for yourself."
"Yeah, I-" Before you could continue, the door pulled back and a man appeared from behind it, brows furrowing at the sight of Ez. You straightened up, clearing your voice and turning to look at the man.
"Babe, this is Ezekiel Reyes. He and I were childhood friends." It was only then that Ez finally noticed the diamond adorning your finger.
"Nice to meet you." Your husband stuck his hand out and Ez shook it, even as bitterness built up in his stomach. He shouldn't have been surprised. Emily had moved on to start a family of her own as well. But in the depths of his heart, he'd selfishly wanted you to wait for him as you'd done all throughout high school. But you were a wife to another man now. A man he could've been if he hadn't so easily dismissed your feelings for him. A man he could've been if he had chosen the right girl back in high school.
"The kids got all the ornaments unpacked, babe. We'll be waiting unless you want us to start without you." Your husband leaned in, tenderly kissing your temple and you smiled at him.
"Go ahead. I'll be there in a minute." You nodded and he disappeared into the house.
"Kids, huh?"
"Yeah... Two boys." You looked down at your hands, finger tracing the ring. Ez forced a smile and hummed, ignoring the way his heart shattered in his chest.
"I'm happy for you, (Y/N)."
"How about we stay like this, holding each other?"
You weren't sure what had happened, but Ez had climbed into bed and refused to let you go after getting home. With his face buried in your chest and muscular arms tightly wrapped around your waist, you had no way of getting up and he didn't seem interested in letting you go anywhere.
"As much as I'd love that, baby.. One of us will eventually need the bathroom." You replied, running your fingers over his hair and feeling him nuzzle against you even more.
"Did something happen?" You asked, peering down at him. He responded in a low grunt and his arms gave you a small squeeze, confirming your suspicions.
"Are you gonna tell me?"
"Adelita... We.." Finally lifting his head, Ez let out a deep sigh. "We almost got her back but she refused to come with us. The look on Angel's face just.. I don't want to lose you like that."
"Well, considering how clingy and unbearable you are," You teased lightly, getting a scoff in return. "I'm sure I'll always be by your side, baby."
"Promise?" Ez asked, eyes softening and turning into that worried puppy face you couldn't resist. Giggling softly, you cupped his face and nodded. His lips pulled into a wide smile and he finally released you, pushing himself up to kiss your neck and rest his forehead against yours.
"There's that smile I know and love."
