I have had many tasty dishes by Todd English ( @cheftoddenglish ), so when I got the chance to check out Tuscany at Mohegan Sun ( @mohegansun ), I had to check out the fries. I usually avoid special orders, but in this case, they offer duck fat potatoes which are fingerling potatoes, so I asked to swap those out for the hand cut skin on fries. Though I don’t think the fries are genuinely skin on, they were plenty flavorful. After being fried up to the perfect crispiness then they are blanch in the duck fat which it seals in a rich flavor. If you take stroll down 2nd Street in Long Beach your going find some great bites and that includes a bunch of great fries but best fries in town are the shoestring offering at Simmzy’s ( @simmzys ). I am a sucker for any spot opened by a fellow Cornellian but here Mike Simm earns his marks all on his own. These shoestring fries are light, crisp and a have a bright fresh flavor that pairs so perfectly with the environment. Well if you find yourself in Russia, hopefully, you get a chance to check out this spot, РЫБЫ НЕТ (@nofish_rest). This place is serious about its meat, but don’t let that deter you they have fries as a companion dish. These curl up on the edges which remind me of a French fry version of @tostitos scoops, which makes these fries the perfect vehicle for ketchup. When you bite in you, get a crisp edge, and plushy center that is bright with potato flavor.
