Fishlock, Wales’ all-time leading appearance-maker with 113 caps to her name to date, links up with Kelly Chambers’ side ahead of the Royals’ FA WSL restart – which comes in the shape of a trip to Arsenal on Saturday 5th September.
After breaking through to the Cardiff City ranks as a 16-year-old – where she made her debut against Reading – she made her first move to foreign shores in 2008 to join Dutch side AZ Alkmaar, and helped the club to consecutive Eredivisie titles in each of her two full seasons with the club.
Jess returned to the UK to join Bristol Academy in 2011, and played an eye-catching role in a side which reached the FA Women’s Cup final and finished fifth and fourth in the FA WSL during her two years – as well as a host of personal honours.
Her intercontinental travels began in 2012, when she became an instant hit as a Melbourne Victory player and scored some vital goals – including a 94th minute winner against Canberra United – as Victory reached the W-League Grand Final.
She was snapped up by Seattle Reign – the former name of OL Reign – for the inaugural NWSL season in 2013. After an eye-catching first season in the USA, she spent the off-season with a couple of productive loan spells… firstly by helping Glasgow City to win a league and cup double and making her Champions League debut, before then returning to Melbourne as a loanee at the end of her first season – this time helping Victory go one better and beat Brisbane Roar in the final.
And that has been a theme of her career: alongside representing Reign since 2013, where she won the NWSL Shield alongside the likes of Megan Rapinoe and Kim Little in both 2014 and 2015, she has also continued making major impacts during loan spells, too.
Her loan spells in Europe have twice harvested UEFA Champions League winners’ medals – firstly for FFC Frankfurt in 2015, and then starting in a 4-1 win for Lyon over Barcelona in 2019 as the French side completed the treble.
Between those forays back to Europe, she spent three hugely productive stints back in Australia, representing Victory’s near-neighbours Melbourne City. Not only did she win the W-League Grand Final in each of her three seasons, but she also used the opportunity to embark on her coaching career at a senior level. The highlight came in 2017 – scoring in a 2-0 win in the final against Perth Glory, as well as managing the team!
And now it is Reading FC Women who will benefit from her service when the 2020-21 season kicks off.
Manager Kelly Chambers said, "Jess is a world class player that has a wealth of experience at the very top level of the women’s game. "Not only does Jess have incredible experience behind her, she also possesses a fantastic understanding of the game that will only help the players around her on the pitch and our team to progress. "What I love about Jess is that she is still so hungry to develop and learn and I’m so excited to work with her over this period. It’s fantastic to bring Jess to our club."
"I am super excited to be joining Reading on loan," said Jess. "It's nice to be home and I am thankful for the opportunity. "I can't wait to get started and I'm really looking forward to helping Reading push on to another level."

Fran Kirby: England and Chelsea player reveals long road ‘out of hibernation’ | Football News
England and Chelsea forward tells The Football Show: “I’m able to train, I’m able to smile, have a conversation with people. I’m in a better place”

Chelsea and England forward Fran Kirby admits her recovery from a rare heart condition has been long and challenging
England and Chelsea forward Fran Kirby says she is in a “better place” and desperate to train after a debilitating illness that left her feeling “at my most vulnerable”.
Kirby fell ill with pericarditis after Chelsea played Manchester United on November 17 and has not played since being diagnosed with the condition – an inflammation of the fluid-filled sac around the heart.
Earlier this month, the 26-year-old revealed she had come close to retiring in a long recovery process, which left her sofa-bound for two months.
“Physically I wasn’t able to do anything,” she told The Football Show on Sky Sports News. “I wasn’t allowed to do any walking, anything that would stress my heart or stress me. I was so tired, I couldn’t move really. I was fed up.
“I came back a couple of times to try and train but just had another setback, and then another setback. But each time I was able to train for longer without having symptoms. Then I would experience symptoms for a week or two.”
The stop-starting was “mentally tough” for Kirby, who has now gone six weeks without any symptoms.
The bronze medal winner with England’s 2015 World Cup team says she feels like she is “coming out of hibernation” after returning to training.
I would start a conversation, then switch off and not finish. I was exhausted I didn’t even want to look at my phone.
Fran Kirby
“People have seen me at my most vulnerable,” she added. “I couldn’t really have many conversations with people because I just felt so tired. I would start a conversation, then switch off and not finish.
“I had people around me that could see I was that poorly and still trying to help me, even though sometimes I may have come across rude – I was just in a fog in my head, to be honest.
“People have been messaging me every day. Little things like that mean so much even if I was taking two or three days to answer back because I just wasn’t on my phone, I was exhausted I didn’t even want to look at my phone. Now I can have those conversations and thank those people.”

‘No football has been good for me’
The long spells of isolation have left Kirby more comfortable with current lockdown measures than most, after she “couldn’t go out” during her illness.
The Women’s Super League, along with the men’s Premier League and the EFL, were initially suspended in March before being extended indefinitely on April 3, in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
“With no football it’s probably good for me because, in a selfish way, I wouldn’t be quite ready to play yet,” said Kirby.
“Now I’m kind of at the same level as everyone else.”

The WSL season is likely to come to an end following talks between the league’s organisers and the FA Board.
Discussions with clubs about how to end the season will also need to take place, with a system needed to be agreed to finalise the league table.
0:17 Kirby is hoping for more moments like these when she finally returns to action

Manchester City currently sit top of the league on 40 points from 16 games, while Chelsea are a point behind having played one fewer game – meaning if points-per-game is adopted Chelsea will go above City and win the title.
“It’s been a really positive season for us,” said Kirby. “We’ll just have to see what happens and what decisions are made but it’s an exciting time to be part of Chelsea.”

Is the idea of ‘professionalism’ in women’s football a myth?
Following the legacy of the Women’s World Cup, being the most anticipated and viewed sporting spectacle for women in history. The profile of female football athletes and their capabilities and status has never been higher. The late 2019 Women’s World Cup has been eventful; however, such high-profile tournament can have a rose-tinted effect on an underlying issue, such as how seriously do governing bodies such as the FA take the Female football and the professionalism of its female athletes. An example of this underlying issue can be taken from a post-match interview with Brazilian footballer Marta, highlighting the importance of valuing female football.
youtube
In order to avoid the rose-tinted affects within contemporary sport, we must reflect on the history of female sport, using female football within England as a catalyst of understanding.
During World War One women’s football was a massive spectacle, with most of the male population at war. However, this spectacle became short lived following the end of World War, with a call for the ‘normalization’ of labour and ‘claims’ that suggested the game of football was damaging to women’s fertility and was perceived to be ‘unlady like’. This later led to the FA promoting this message and banning all FA affiliated clubs from using their pitches (Fielding-Lloyd, Woodhouse & Sequerra, 2018). This decision effectively stalled women’s football, until 1971 where the act was overturned. With the FA taking control of women’s football in 1993 and the later formation of the WSL, the first semi professional league in 2011, with professional status gained in 2018.
Football traditionally has a male orientated culture, which dates back to post World War One. However, this culture has proven to be potentially  discriminative on other groups, such as women. To the point where institutional sexism has occurred within the sport, with the FA’s banishment of women using FA football pitches. This stunted the growth of women’s football and unarguably creating a stigma surrounding the once professionals of women’s football by a male domineering culture that exists within football. Researcher and Sociologist Woodward (2007) expands on this idea, on both the effects of football both on and off the pitch in relation to gender powers in sport and how masculinity within sport has created a notion of ‘gender entitlement’. With men claiming sports with this masculine behaviour and in the process rejecting other groups from taking part. This further contradicts the idea of female professionalism within football, with a sport having a history of institutional discrimination. Within its governing bodies and beyond, with potential stigma and ridicule being attached to any female footballer as a result. Who may want to seek football as professional career, questioning the overall concept of professionalism in woman’s football.
Tumblr media
Female Ballon dor winner and 2019 Women’s World Cup winner Megan Rapinoe highlights the key issues regarding women’s football in the shadow of professionalism. She highlights the lack of investment given to women’s football compared to male football. History suggests that women’s football has experienced decades of institutional discrimination. One example of this in England was in 2011 with the sacking of several high-profile media figures at Sky Sports due to sexist abuse. Additionally, there is an overall lack of media exposure for successful female athletes at big sporting events. For example, the 2011 BBC Sport Personality of the Year. Which begs the question how women can consider a career in a sport like football and a professional status within a sport that is historically male dominated and discriminative. In which its traditional values, have hindered the women within football and the progression for female professionalism.
The reality is that women’s football has only been considered and backed to an extent within the last decade with the formation of the WSL in 2010, being the first semi professional league to grace the English game. From here the growth of woman’s football slowly increased from 10,400 registered players in 1993 to 147,000 in 2016. This coincides with the FA’s intentions for woman’s football going from rejection and stigma to a commercially viable and lucrative project. Coinciding with by-products from the FA onto the infrastructure of within woman’s football such as the creation of the WSL and introduction of female Ballon dor winners in 2018. This investment has led to the start of the ‘new age’ for women in sport, with less of stigma being attached to women in sport. In a study of various types of print media and the content analysis of hundreds of articles surrounding the 2015 Women’s World Cup. It was found that the media has taken a more of a positive shift towards the representation of women is sport.
Tumblr media
But what does this mean for women’s professionalism in football today? We have discovered a strong link between the FA’s profitability of woman’s football and their ability to gain a ‘professional’ status, without stigma. However, prior to the slow progression of the WSL, woman’s football was outlawed, but before that it was seen as a real effort to raise spirits during WW1. Although the reality of professionalism for women may not be as clear as you may have thought at the start of the blog. It doesn’t change the fight woman have faced to gain a ‘valid’ level of professionalism in a sport that has had a history of hyper masculinity and discrimination.
The marathon for equality in football may be far from over, however progression is taking shape and the status of women in sport is changing. Allowing the next generation of daughters to dream of careers in football and players like Megan Rapinoe & Marta. Like how the sons of today dream of the likes of Messi and Ronaldo!

The Blues reached the last four of the competition during the 2018/19 season having last won the competition in 2018, when a Ramona Bachmann double and a Fran Kirby strike gave us a 3-1 win over London rivals Arsenal at Wembley. We won the competition for the first time in 2015.
Other notable ties in this season’s fourth round include a Manchester derby with Manchester United Women welcoming neighbours and last year’s FA Cup winners Manchester City Women, and Arsenal visiting fellow FA WSL side and 2019 finalists West Ham.

The 21-year-old moves to the Hammers after two seasons with fellow Barclays FA Women’s Super League side Reading and becomes the Irons’ second new acquisition in less than 24 hours, after goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold joined on Thursday.
“I’m very excited to join West Ham,” Pacheco told whufc.com. “West Ham is a brand-new team that is still very much at the start of their journey, and I think that’s like I am as well.
“I really like the idea of growing together with the Club and giving everything I can for this shirt. With the players already here, it’s going to be a great group to be around and I can’t wait to get started.”
Head coach Matt Beard, who gave Pacheco her senior debut as a teenager at Liverpool in 2015, is looking forward to working with the left-back at West Ham.
Beard said: “Maz is, first of all, a great person with a fantastic personality. When I was at Liverpool, I gave Maz her debut at 16-years-old, and she was good enough then to play at the top level.
“She is a great attacking full-back and I’m looking forward to continuing her development as a player here. She’s a great talent already and there is a lot more to come from her as well.
She’s young and comes with a lot of WSL experience. We’ve got ourselves a young, English, elite player. The ambition for her now is to get into this West Ham team, play regularly, and hopefully we can help her fulfil her international ambitions too.”
Born in Ormskirk, West Lancashire, Pacheco spent his formative years as a footballer with Liverpool, where the defender was handed her WSL debut as a 16-year-old in March 2015.
The full-back made a further 11 outings for the Reds before joining Doncaster Rover Belles on loan in 2016. Twelve showings and a goal during her loan convinced the Belles to sign Pacheco on a permanent deal in 2017.
Pacheco would make 26 showings across the 2017 and 2017/18 FA WSL 2 seasons for Doncaster, with 30 outings in all competitions, helping the Belles to lift the Women’s Super League Two title.
A transfer to Reading followed for the then-19-year-old in July 2018. Pacheco would play 20 times in all competitions in her debut campaign for the Royals, including 16 outings in the Barclays FA WSL, before adding a further 16 in all competitions last campaign.
At international level, Pacheco has represented England up to Under-21s level and helped the young Lionesses to a third-place finish at the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

That’s the best possible time for Liverpool to score! They have that threat on the counter-attack through Rinsola Babajide and Rachel Furness was in the right place at the right time to pick that ball up. She didn’t hang around with the strike either… Bang! A goal and an assist for her so far. Arsenal don’t look happy and you can understand why – they are currently five points off the top as it stands.

Game on again! It’s a fantastic first-time finish fromRachel Furness, who has been magnificent for Liverpool since her winter-window arrival.
Arsenal’s Lisa Evans doesn’t deal well with a high, diagonal ball and inadvertently heads the ball in to Furness’ path and the Northern Ireland midfielder lashes it home to make it 2-2, right on half-time.

You have to say, it’s been coming despite Arsenal not really creating too much. Liverpool have been giving the ball away in their own half since the first minute and there was another costly loss of possession before Vivianne Miedema equalised. Then the headed second from Jordan Nobbs was typical Arsenal – they are so good at getting the ball out wide and using their attacking full-backs.

Who else? She’s been quiet tonight but all of a suddenVivianne Miedema has her 15th league goal of the season and her first of 2020.

Rachel Furness has been excellent since joining Liverpool in January and it was her through-ball which set Rinsola Babajide up for the goal. The midfielder has taken Babajide under her wing too, giving her guidance and passing on her experience. A big goal for Liverpool but can they hang on?

Women’s World Cup: England captain Steph Houghton is ready for victory
When Steph Houghton leads the England team against Scotland on June 9 in the 2019 World Cup, she will not only be doing so as captain of the national team, but as a trailblazer, for she has been instrumental in putting both women's football and sports on the map.
Her towering presence in the back four and leadership on and off the pitch has not just inspired the team but a legion of fans both at home and away .
Having represented her country more than 100 times, and captaining Manchester City, Houghton has become an icon for a new generation of women looking to break into the world of women's football.
In the run up to the 2019 Women's World Cup, here is everything you need to know about the England captain
Growing up
Born on April 23, 1988 in South Hetton , Durham, Houghton's interest in football was immediate. She started kicking a ball around with her dad, who played semi-professionally, when she was four. She played for her school, and her performances attracted interest from Sunderland Ladies.
Growing up in a family who were such ardent Sunderland and football fans, their passion influenced even the color of their car, ed. Or at least it would have been Houghton's mum not intervened and insisted on sky blue.
And so it was her dad, in a sky blue Peugeot 306, who would ferry a teenage Houghton to and from Sunderland Ladies. To get to that stage, Houghton proved her footballing skills in her back garden, on the streets and on the school playgrounds, playing alongside both boys and girls in her class.
Houghton, right, started kicking a ball around with her dad, who played semi-professionally, when she was four. She played for her school, and her performances attracted interest from Sunderland Ladies.
"Playing with the boys made me a better footballer, it made me more competitive and made me want to win even more. You were playing against the boys and wanted to prove how good you were, "she told BBC .
What sticks with Houghton about that period in her life, how much the sport has changed since then.
In a recent interview with the Mail On Sunday Houghton remarked how, growing up, female footballers had to pay-to-play and the Sunderland Women team's subs were £ 250 a year.
However, now, as captain of Manchester City, she sees up-and-coming female footballers wearing their own kits — not the hand-me-downs she had — and not having to worry about ending games early because they couldn't afford to pay for floodlights.
'If we, as a group, can change people's view from thinking they're watching football as opposed to women's football, then I think we've been successful,' she told FIFA in 2011.
Houghton stayed with Sunderland until 2007, when she joined Leeds United Ladies – the same year she made the England senior team debut, coming on as a sub against Russia in March
In a recent interview with the Mail On Sunday, Houghton remarked how much women's football has evolved since her childhood
Houghton stayed with Sunderland until 2007, when she joined Leeds United Ladies. That was the same year she made the England senior team debut, coming on as a sub against Russia in March. The first start came three days later.
However, injury horrors would torment Houghton for the next two years. Having made the squad for the 2007 World Cup in China, Houghton was just days away from being the youngest ever England player at the tournament.
Just 48 hours before she was meant to board the flight for China, she broke put it down. "A freak training ground accident" she describes it.
It wasn't a badly-timed tackle that did it, but hurdles. She was jumping over them when she tripped and twisted her ankle, which in a spiral fracture. England made it to the quarter-finals, where they lost 3-0 to Germany.
She was picking up steam again ahead of the 2009 UEFA Women's Euro tournament, even being named the 2008 FA Women's Young Player of the Year, when tragedy struck again. While playing for Leeds, Houghton ruptured the ACL, ruling her out for nine months, heartbreakingly, for the tournament.
"I don't think I can actually put how I was feeling into words," she told FIFA.com.
"These are the tournaments that every footballer wants to play. I knew I just had to get myself back on track and start playing football again. "
The journey to captain
Get back on track she did. In 2010, having won the 2010 FA Women's Premier League Cup with Leeds, Houghton then signed for Arsenal Ladies in August. The club became the dominant force in the newly-formed Women's Super League.
With Arsenal, Houghton won the League title, the FA Women's Cup and the WSL Continental Cup, captaining the side to the latter two.
In 2010, having won the 2010 FA Women's Premier League Cup with Leeds, Houghton then signed for Arsenal Ladies in August
"I wanted to win trophies and no other side was winning more than Arsenal at the time," she told BBC
At that point that drive to win didn't translate for Houghton on the international stage. But she was getting close.
Although the 2011 World Cup didn't go as planned for England, with the team crashing out in the quarter-finals, skip to 2012, and Houghton scores the winning goal against Brazil in the final group game of the London Olympics in front of 70,000 fans.
Two years later, then head coach Mark Sampson hands Houghton the captaincy. "The conversation was a bit of a blur," she told BBC. "I was pulled aside and asked if I wanted to be captain, and I couldn't stop smiling, I said:" Of course. "
Houghton quickly realized the heavy burden the captaincy brings with it.
'For the first six or seven months, I tried to be someone that I wasn't. I tried to be everybody's mate. I tried to please everyone. But if you get a bit older, you realize that's nigh on impossible.
"I got back to basics and realized I had to earn the right to get a starting spot to be captain and from there it was about how I could develop as a leader," she said in the Mail on Sunday interview.
Houghton scored the winning goal in the group stages against Brazil during the 2012 London Olympics, but England went on to lose to Canada in the quarter-finals
The impact was almost immediate. In 2015, Houghton, now a WSL Manchester City Continental Cup winner with new team, captained the England side not only into the semi-finals of the 2015 World Cup in Canada — losing 2-1 to runners-up Japan — but also into the nation's hearts and minds; incredibly apposite when you consider the team's slogan for the tournament was "Inspire a Generation."
Two years later and another semi-final milestone at the UEFA Women's Euro, and even Houghton begins to notice a changing perception about and awareness of the team.
"There is a greater expectation on England to perform in major tournaments," she said in an interview with FIFA .
Houghton and the team certainly lived up to it in 2019, when she captained the England team to glory in the SheBelieves Cup, beating Brazil and avenging the 2015 semi-final defeat by crushing Japan 3-0. This year, she is also the lead of the Women's FA Cup.
Houghton has seen a great success with her club, Manchester City Women, winning the Women's FA Cup in 2019
But does she have what it takes to lead the lionesses to victory on the world stage? England’s group at the 2019 World Cup includes Scotland, Argentina and Japan – three strong teams and no easy feat. Odds for Houghton to lead the team all the way are currently at 7/1 so the pressure is on.
"We've got to go and try to enjoy that expectation, that pressure. We've got ourselves in a great position where we're fit, we like to play football, we're getting better with each game that we're playing under the new manager, and we're enjoying the challenge every single day to try and hopefully bring England back a World Cup, "Houghton said.
Off the pitch
There were doubts about whether Houghton would make this year's World Cup – but this time, it was not an injury or a fitness issue but a personal shockwave.
In September 2017, Houghton became engaged to former Liverpool, Bradford City and Bolton player Stephen Darby.
They married in June 2018. However, in September 2018, Darby, then aged 29, announced his immediate retirement from football, revealing his leg diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, for which there is no known cure.
Houghton eats, breathes and sleeps football, so much so off the pitch, she is married to former Liverpool, Bradford City and Bolton player Stephen Darby.
In September 2018, just three months after their wedding, Darby announced his immediate retirement from football, revealing that he's been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease
Houghton did not discuss this tragic turn of events until recently, instead focusing on her husband and football away from the media spotlight.
'It's obviously a really, really tough year on a personal level, but I can be honest and say I'm sitting here in Engla nd colors and I am really focused on England. Of course Stephen's my number one priority and he will always be, "she told the Mail on Sunday.
" He's been an unbelievable person in the way he's been dealing with it. He has been everything I knew he would be. He really motivates me to be the best person I can be the ultimate thing for me to make him proud, "she added.
When asked whether the husband's diagnosis has been made consider stepping away from the game for a time — something which manager Phil Neville said she can do if she decides it's the right thing — Houghton says that's not something she or Stephen wants.
'I'm here because I feel I'm right to be here, "she says. 'And it's driven by Stephen. He wants me to go. He says, "Get out of the house."
"He's the ultimate inspiration for me and my family and he's been so strong. My focus is the World Cup now and fingers crossed it never, ever gets to the moment where I have to step away. If I'm selected, he'll come to the tournament. He comes everywhere now. "

'Sad, a little bit scared, but excited' - Aluko on life after Chelsea
Media playback is not supported on this device
Eniola Aluko says she is “excited” to be joining a European club after being “frustrated” at a lack of playing time for Women’s Super League champions Chelsea this season.
The striker, 31, left the Blues after scoring in her final game on Sunday[1] but is yet to confirm her next club.
She said she had an option to stay as well as offers from other WSL sides but wanted to “do something different”.
“I’m sad and a little bit scared but I’m excited,” Aluko told BBC Sport
She added that there was “never really a discussion” about a new contract at Chelsea as she considered whether she was able to deal with “playing a lesser role” in the future.
“I could’ve stayed – Chelsea is my home, but I’ve still got a lot to give,” she said.
“I’m in the last phase of my career and if I didn’t do it this season, I’m not sure when it would’ve happened – that drive to do something new would’ve just fizzled out.
“I want to go out on a high, still playing good football; I don’t want to be old and still trying to hang on.”
Aluko, who held talks with Paris St-Germain[2] and one other overseas club in January, said “everything has been agreed” with her new club but that she is not in a position to announce it yet.
She added she was determined to “keep winning trophies, keep scoring important goals” and was targeting success in the Champions League, after Chelsea’s semi-final exit in this year’s competition.[3]
“This season when I’ve played, I’ve scored and felt good about my performance so I still want to be at the cutting edge but now it’s also about a different experience, it’s about playing in Europe, learning a new language, being out of my comfort zone,” she said.
‘Not my call if England career is over’
<!–
Aluko has scored 33 goals in 102 England appearances but has not played for her country since 2016.
She was involved in a discrimination case[4] against former England manager Mark Sampson last year, with the Football Association apologising in October for racially discriminatory remarks made by Sampson to Aluko in 2014.
Sampson was sacked in September for “inappropriate and unacceptable” behaviour with female players in a previous role, and former Manchester United and Everton defender Phil Neville was appointed in January.[5]
“It’s not my decision whether the ship has sailed on my England career,” Aluko said.
“Phil Neville has been very open about saying if any player is performing, they will get selected and there are currently a few top England players playing abroad like Toni Duggan, Lucy Bronze, Jodie Taylor – so I don’t think moving abroad would be a negative for any potential England recall.
“I’m very happy with my England career to date both on and off the pitch and if I get a recall, amazing, if I don’t then I’ll continue to support his project and the England team.
“I spoke to him briefly earlier on in the season and congratulated him on his appointment – he knows who I am, so if he wants to speak to me or watch my games then I’m sure he’ll get in contact.”
‘Hayes is a visionary’
<!–
Aluko scored 47 goals in 101 league appearances over two spells at Chelsea, having played for the Blues between 2007 and 2009 before rejoining in 2012.
She said it was “fate” to score her side’s 100th goal of the season in all competitions in her final game – a 3-2 victory over Liverpool – as she departs after winning the league and FA Cup double, a feat she also achieved in 2015.
“It’s been an amazing year filled with really memorable things to hold on to for the rest of my career,” she said.
She added “a lot” of her success was down to Chelsea manager Emma Hayes, who recruited Aluko from Birmingham City.
“We were terrible in 2013 but everything she said at that time on and off the pitch about getting better facilities, better players, more integration and respect within the club, trophies – it’s all come true,” she said.
“Emma has been a friend, a psychologist and a mentor to me. Even this season where I’ve been frustrated sometimes at not playing, we’ve had really understanding conversations. When I told her I was thinking of moving on, she completely understood.”
As a result, Aluko did not consider moving to another English side despite offers from “competitive” teams.
She said: “Staying in the WSL would’ve been a good decision because it’s a great league but it wouldn’t have been something that really excited me.”
