ok so the "misunderstanding" plot line is currently dropped (I'm rewriting my outline rn) and in doing so, I removed a big aspect of the chapter in favor of just... avoiding that plot.

one result of this is the "pocket fire!" joke is now removed ),: as well as this form:

The draft I had earlier this week had Asriel going full Spy Mode (this chapter is intended to be a thriller) and flipping between identities and forms like crazy.

to be clear, there still WILL be an element of the shape-shifting coming into play in the story but it's not treated like the spy-thriller trope. It ends up being something completely different in the plot. Which, when typing it out, feels like the shape-shifting is over used, and its for the best to keep it simple.

Asriel would go so far as to steal Undyne's identity.

I REALLY LIKED THIS. I really pushed Asriel's shape-shifting to its limits and it was going to utterly shatter Undyne's trust in the royal family and believe that ANYONE could be a shapeshifter.

But uh, realizing now, maybe that's NOT what I want! It'd be interesting, sure! But it'd be really tough to convince Undyne to trust again. And like, the whole Asgore-giving-the-throne-to-a-literal-teenager is already pushing a lot of Undyne's feelings.

So yeah the plot line would be a bit convoluted and would have an end result that adds a layer of conflict that I don't really want anyway. So as much as it pains me, that whoooole plotline is dropped.

Sad cause we were going to have a cool Toriel and Undyne fight! But... again, the stakes are artificially built. While the family IS doing shady af things, they're not being looked into. They're being looked into something they're not even a part of and are blamed for. Which sucks ass.

I STILL want a confrontation between Undyne and the Dreemurr family, but it makes sense to come from a natural result of the family's true bullshit behavior rather than this forced into a problem caused by the fallen kid's behavior.

Asriel is fluffly?

The fluffiest brother in the world (or at least after shower)

Okay so while drawing this I got some HCs that translates into details in this pic that I'm just going to ramble:

* For whatever reason, Asriel (as Flowey too) wanted to gain Chara's approval at whatever he does or say -- he seemed to regard them highly, often agreeing with them and copy the things they do (like a cat. E.g with that full glass of water thing).

Here I hinted it through Asriel asking if Chara agrees with him, plus him actually being upset at both of their behalf instead of just himself). Asriel also doesn't actually like getting hairdryed, the noise grates his ears, but he started doing so after seeing Chara doing it (again with the copying).

*Imagine the amount of fur that gets stuck at literally everything though. But now Chara's used to it, just one of them Goat Family things.

* The brush Chara is using is the same one you'd have for a furry pet. It's just more efficient this way.

* Kids wear something striped. It doesn't really need to be a shirt, so Chara here of course just wears a self-made nb flag pants.

Asriel's shirt is not green-yellow because I wanted to make the pic more... Candid? He owns more than just one kind of striped shirt yk.

* I've mentioned this but it's a fun lil HC of mine to make Asriel's locket as human soul-shaped, and Chara's as monster soul-shaped.

Yes!!! I have information on all my ver. of the souls (except for Clover/Justice, I like the idea of integrating UTY into my Headcannons even if it doesn't completely follow Undertale lore)

Anyway- Sunny!

Sunny uses any pronouns, so you'd be correct no matter what you called him.

When Sunny fell it was due to trying to locate a specific patch of mushrooms said to have healing properties, one of her youngest siblings was ill. She tripped on a root and fell into one of the many entrances underground (New area!)

They actually knew the Perseverance soul before she fell! Hope was a junior librarian who would read kids stories that she wrote. Sunny was one of her biggest fans and was really upset when she went missing.

Out of the main Undertale cast I can see Sunny really getting along well with Toriel and Undyne.

Flowey doesn't exist just yet during Sunny's journey underground, I'm still trying to figure out who (if anyone) helps them around.

They also don't have a typical journey (Ruins > Snowdin > Waterfall > Hotlands > New Home), they veer off the path due to not even falling into Ruin's proper. A lot of their story is still up in the air tbh!

She enjoyed the sea, for the most part. Marisa enjoyed breathing in the air, the sound of the waves, how nice the water felt (although she didn't enjoy it in her hair, as the salty smell lingered in it). They were traveling home after a long journey, Marisa being hinted at again by her majordomo, after receiving a birthday present of a portrait of her. While the portrait was lovely, his comment wasn't.

"I wish it could be a wedding present." he chuckled.

"I don't believe I'm suitable for marriage, Thorold." she insisted. "Besides, my mother wasn't married for most of her reign. Why should I have to be?"

"But she was married at first." Thorold pointed out. "Being a queen who was widowed is very different from being a queen that never married." His expression was soft and subtly concerned. "All I'm saying is that now that you're Queen, Your Majesty, there are different expectations of you. Your mother produced an heir, and you will be expected to do the same. Besides, I think you would flourish if you were in love." He smiled.

Marisa looked out into the sea, leaning on the ship's railing.

"I don't think I know what love is." she murmured.
