Next Wednesday it’s the ArtCan @artcanorg postcard fundraiser event, ‘From ArtCan With Love’. Myself and other member artists have all created postcard sized artworks which will be sold online for £40 each. All the funds raised will go to support ArtCan’s great work.

Surrounded by pitch black, the camera turns to face somethingsomeonethemwithoutaface.

In the black, there is nothing to be heard other than the flat breathing coming from unidentifiable. If it even is breathing, that is.

A voice raises from the darkness, sounding uniform, but not unkind. You cannot see who it is coming from.

Greetings.

I am Chara.

The voice continues: of plans, of partnership, of LV. You realize it is talking to facelessfigure.

Finally, it ends with a request.

Let us ERASE this pointless world, and move on to the next.

You start to wonder who is speaking.

You start to wonder why this sounds so familiar.

You start to wonder why you are the one speaking.

Suddenly, you are not viewing a tape: you are inside the cold blackness. You are facing unidentifiable. You can feel the nothing under your feet, the air entering and escaping yours and their lungs. It is rythmatic, in a way. As is the world you reside in. As is unidentifiable.

You know what is happening.

The world plunges into abyss, and the tape replays. As it always does.

It doesn’t matter when.

It doesn’t matter where.

Time and time again, I will appear.

You fit perfectly into your role, and you are happy to play the part.

You feel yourself begin to stir.

I was really happy to get to exhibit some work as part of the ArtCan @artcanorg booth at the Supermarket Art Fair @supermarketart last week in Stockholm. This was the second year for us and we were the only UK group of artists at the fair. Thanks to my fellow artists and friends who were there setting up and for the duration, led by @pernillaiggstrom who did a fantastic curating job.
