Chances are, if you frequent antique shops, you’ve seen these before. Carefully, though - not all of them are actually decanter stoppers!

It was a little-known, but VERY popular trend among European aristocracy in the 18th to the 19th century to have custom, blown-glass butt plugs made. This was especially popular amongst the French aristocracy prior to the French Revolution, with Robespierre reportedly confiscating up to 69 different glass butt plugs by the end of his reign of terror.
