Eddie was sat at his usual table in Hawkins High cafeteria, eating the same old mushy food that was served everyday. Picking apart his meatloaf, he waited for the seat to be filled next to him by the one and only, Barbie.

He looked forward to sitting next to her everyday as she put a smile on his face effortlessly. He was smitten for Barbie, and everybody in Hellfire Club knew it. She was the only one who was allowed to sit in the dungeon masters throne at the Hellfire Club table and the only one who was allowed to sit into the meetings. He would give her rides home after the meetings, sometimes going back to his trailer to simply hang or come up with ideas for the next campaign.

He knew he could count on her because she was an expert at coming up with amazing ideas since she was in the Hawkins Theatre club. He loved the little doodles she would leave in his campaign notebook. Her art made him smile and he would even hang her artwork in his room he loved it so much.

Eddies thoughts were interrupted when a lunch tray was slammed down next to him as Barbie sat in her usual seat next to him. "Hey everyone! Guess what happened today! Mr. Finn totally sat on a fart cushion in the middle of a lecture today it was hilarious! He got so red in the face he-"

Eddie was memorized by Barbie. The way she smiled whenever she told a story in detail, the way her eyes sparkled. Even the way she dressed Eddie adored. Barbie was always putting together the best of clothing pieces and even though Eddie wasn't that interested in fashion, he could appreciate it because Barbie was passionate about it.

"So then he stood up-" She suddenly stepped onto the table, her converse strings clunking onto the lunch table- "And he YELLED as loud as he could and proceeded to call Principal Higgins into the classroom!" Barbie shouted the end of her story, laughing as she climbed down from the table and falling back into her seat.

Barbie was the only one who Eddie and the rest of the gang could say was as extroverted and as outspoken as Eddie. She could steal the eyes of anyone from any room she was. Including his.

"Hey Barbie?" Eddie spoke, popping a pretzel in his mouth and his doe eyes met hers.

"Yeah Eds?" She smiled at him kindly. Barbie was kind to everyone around her. Every clique loved her because she always wanted everyone to feel welcome around her.

"I'll pick you up from your house after school and we can practice that song you wanted to sing? I think I got the chords perfected." Eddie grinned, knowing damn well he had absolutely got the song perfected on his acoustic just for her.

"Of course! I'll see you at 6?" Barbie giggled, feeling extra excited to sing for him.

¡Oi! Spoilers, stavfel och alternativa fakta kan förekomma rakt föröver!

Det kändes nästa lite som om halva boken förlades till detta väldigt intensiva ”lördags-dygn”. Nåväl. Kapitlet var (i den elektroniska utgåvan) uppdelade i 11 filer som jag gick in och kapitelmärkte – så jag fick i alla fall 11 underkapitel att dela upp läsningen på. Inte för att jag i skrivande stund direkt ser fram emot att sortera och gå igenom mina 43 bokmärken jag samlat på mig under de senaste två veckornas läsning.

Och det är ett väldigt händelserikt kapitel där det dessutom går undan i svängarna. Vi fick dessutom en intressant inblick i brittiska ord och uttryck gällande valuta. Ag har aldrig riktigt kunnat ta till mig Hagrids förvirring över mugglar-pengar i Harry Potter & De Vises Sten, men den fotnoten gav mig en viss inlevelse för hur han måste ha känt.

Not för ungdomar och amerikaner: en shilling = fem pence. Det blir lättare att förstå häxjägararméns antika finanser om man känner till det ursprungliga engelska myntsystemet: Två Farthings = En Ha’penny. Två Ha’pennies = En Penny. Tre Pennies = En Thrupenny Bit. Två Thrupences = En Sixpence. Två Sixpences = En Shilling, eller Bob. Två Bob = En Florin. En Florin och En Sixpence = Half a Crown. Fyra Half Crowns = En Ten Bob Note. Två Ten Bob Notes = Ett Pund (eller 240 pennies). Ett Pund och En Shilling = En Guinea.

Vi skall kanske vara tacksamma att britterna förenklade sig en smula från det systemet? BTW, jag trasslat nu i fyra böcker med att läsa bokmärken på mobilen och sedan söka rätt på citatet i calibres eboksläsare – och jag insåg förra delmålet att jag kan lyfta texten direkt från mobilen via ”Din Telefon”-länken i windows. 😆

Vi springer dessutom på ett gäng utomjordingar (i vad jag antar är en cameo) och de talar om jordens CO²-nivå och att vi som dominerade art kan vara åtalbara för den stigande nivån på planeten. Jag kan inte tänka mig annat än att det är en liten blinkning mot ”Liftarens Guide Till Galaxen”.

I det här kapitlet får vi ju dessutom en första inblick i Agnes berömda profetior. Nummer ”1111” talar ju givetvis om scenen där Adam på sin födelsedag får sin helveteshund. Som får det enkla namnet ”hund”. Och hur ättlingarna Manick kopplar ihop det här med Bismarck (som i sin hur måste vara en referens till första världskriget?) lär vi aldrig få veta.

Shadwell är f.ö. en rätt intressant figur. Harmlös å enda sidan men fruktansvärt fördomsfull å den andra. Jag ser dock på honom med viss humor att han (som Anatema) tolkar Aziraphale och Crowley som homosexuella och att alla han tycker illa om är ”sydlänningar”. Syd om vad preciseras aldrig. Även om hans okvädesord mot Madame Tracy (hur passande de än må vara) snabbt blir tradiga.

Och var det bara i mitt huvud som Aziraphales samtal med Metraton (när han ”ringer” för att tala om vart antikrist finns) spelas upp med Krister Claesson i andra ändan som Metraton? Här får man också den första inblicken i hur lite ”det stora spelet” / ”den outgrundliga planen” bryr sig om vad som fortfarande står upp efter att stridsdammet lagt sig. Är det något som man får en känsla av (och som stämmer rätt väl med min syn på religion) är att det handlar om två motpoler där ingen av dem för oss människor kanske inte nödvändigt måste vara bättre än den andre.

Räknar man bort ”Honorary Award” och ” Technical Achievement Award” som delades ut under Oscarsgalan (men som tydligen inte är ett Oscars-pris) så fick ”Borta med Vinden” totalt 8 statyetter (med ytterligare 5 nominieringar). Den första ”Gudfadern” fick faktiskt inte fler än tre (men ytterligare 8 nomineringar). Jag vill minnas att om man justerar inspelade pengar för inflationen så är ”Borta med Vinden” den mest sedda bio-filmen någonsin. Titeln flest oscars genom tiderna delas av tre filmer: ”Ben-Hur” (1959), ”Titanic” (1997) och ”Sagan om Konungens Återkomst” (2003)

En rulle toalettpapper är på tok för lite att köpa inför apokalypsen. Madam Tracy inser inte allvaret i läget. Och vem sjutton köper en rulle toalettpapper? Går det ens?

Och 2020 har apokalypsens fyra ryttare degraderats till apokalypsens fyra knapptryckningar. Välkommen till det nya millenniets kalla krig.

Crowley hade blivit ytterst imponerad av de garantier som datorindustrin tillhandahöll och hade faktiskt skickat ned en bunt till avdelningen som utarbetade odödlighetskontrakten Därnere, försedd med en gul klisterlapp på vilken det endast stod: ”Läs och lär, grabbar.”

(Jag ville egentligen bara få med det citatet någonstans). Om det någonsin skulle skrivas på en uppföljare (vet att det talades om det efter miniserien på Amazon Prime) till den här boken så borde det vara en prequel med Agnes Nutter!

Det skulle kanske ha kunnat vara av intresse för Newt att veta att av de trettionio tusen kvinnor som prövades med nålen under häxjaktens epok, sa tjugonio tusen ”aj”, niotusen niohundra nittionio kände ingenting på grund av användandet av de tidigare nämnda infällbara nålarna och en häxa förklarade att den på ett mirakulöst sätt botat ledgångsreumatismen i hennes ben. Hennes namn var Agnes Nutter.

Tror hon klockar in som bokens absolut intressantaste karaktär. Kanske för att vi bara får lära känna henne via andrahandsinformation.

På något sätt så blir jag inte förvånad över att Adam liksom får luften att pysa ur den ballong som är apokalypsen. Och det finns en viss humor i att den som skulle sparka fart på kriget egentligen inte har ambitionerna att göra det. Utan tack vare syster Pratsjuk så fick han väx upp till en människa. Som främst står på sin egen sida.
