Uhhhhh well obviously I'm loving the gojo & megumi father-son shit at the moment, it really heals the depression. ALSO @grungeeuvu (alt. account @grungiiuvu) has gotten me back into MXTX, especially TGCF, so fengqing is top of my romantic ship list at the moment. I keep meaning to write something for them. Whoopsies.

my jjk moots are going to think i'm insane for this, but itafushi. It did NOT occur to me when I watched the anime, but then someone suggested it to me and then I rewatched with new eyes and ... yeah. itafushi canon.

also kuromikashou. I'm a fan of that now, too.

C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will.

the rats are going to absolutely hate this announcement, but ushioi and oikage. Hate them both. oisuga? sure. iwaoi? love it. oihina? don't see it as a long term thing, but don't care. even atsuoi is passable. But both ushioi and oikage really irriate me for zero reason.

D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t.

bokuroo. they make total logical sense and they'd be hilarious together, but to me they're besties. sorry guys :(

E - Have you added anything cracky/hilarious to your fandom? If so, what?

i hear lots of good things about my JNT Rulebook, which is a whole load of crack. Also, for AOT i wrote Chaos Theory, which earned comments like "I had no idea funny fics were possible for this fandom". If you are a long-term aot girlie, I am so sorry for your loss.

Uh, I'm not sure? The first fandom I contributed to was PJO. I was there for maybe two years, and that's probably my record. I'm just over one year on haikyuu now. I'M SORRY I JUST KEEP CHANGING INTERESTS

G - Have you ever had an OTP? If so, do you remember your first one? Who was in it?

My very first OTP was probably Eadric & Emma from The Frog Princess series. It doesn't really have a fandom but god, I loved those books... OR Ash & Serena from Pokemon. They were good too.

H - What is your favorite source text for fandom stuff (e.g., TV shows, movies, books, anime, Western animation, etc.)?

I mainly watch anime at the moment and usually they have more active fandoms, so I'm happy to stay with them. With books, you can never be sure that anyone else has ever read them.

I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?

Nope, because I am good at staying away from scary people. #slay

J - Name a fandom you didn’t think about until you saw it all over Tumblr.

Supernatural. No explanation needed.

K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?

From Haikyuu, it's got to be Hinata, hasn't it? And he's weirdly underrated, considering he's literally the main character.

From other fandoms, I love Yona from Yona of the Dawn. She goes from literal spoiled princess to some kind of warrior queen, PLUS she gains emotional maturity. May we all grow to be like her.

L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves.

You know what, guys? I do think Goshiki's cute. I do understand wanting to put him in your pocket. Personally, I don't, but I totally see it.

M - Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend.

Sugawara. He's top tier friend material - chaotic, funny, caring, and would definitely feed into your delulu.

N - Name three things you wish you saw more of in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice).

My main fandom is probably haikyuu, so I wish I saw more of:

Appreciation for the writing!!!

Love for main characters. It sounds weird, but the fandom is full of people who have a pet side character who barely has any lines. This is GOOD, all character deserve appreciation, but can we get some applause for hinata??

Love for rarepairs. This sounds even stranger, considering my last point, but we need to get used to letting people ship whoever the fuck they want. As long as it's legal.

O - Choose a song at random. Which ship or character does it remind you of?

After a good old shuffle of my 94 hour playlist, I got Bad Romance by lady gaga. This is gonna come out of left field because I've never mentioned this fandom before, but it's sherliam from moriarty the patriot.

P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).

I've mentioned this to friends before, but we totally need a TGCF hosptial au. Mu Qing is a surgeon, Feng Xin is a physiotherapist, Xie Lian is either a GP or an anesthesiologist, and Hua Cheng is some random reception guy. Mu Qing is always bullying Feng Xin for not being a 'real doctor'. Hualian are married. you see where I'm going.

Q - A fandom you’ve abandoned and why.

Harry Potter, for obvious reasons.

R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom?

I would die for Nobara & Itadori & Megumi. They deserved to be happy forever.

S - Show us an example of your personal headcanon

I wrote whole sections of fanfiction based off my headcanon that Megumi has flat hair like Toji, but he styles it spiky to be like Gojo. I KNOW the canon disproves it. I don't actually care.

T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending? 

Nope, because I am non-confrontational and uncreative.

U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.

I'm going niche on this one - well, more like going into fandoms my followers probably aren't into.

Ayame Sohma, Fruits Basket. Loving brother, perfect example of how to make reparations, and also literally fabulous. And gay.

Ooharano, All Out!. Voice by Ian Sinclair, very good at his sport, hilariously sarcastic. Emotional backstory that was just never mentioned again???

Siatrich Wynknight, The Reason Why Raeliana Ended Up At The Duke's Mansion. Very funny, likes to be a bit evil for the giggles, thinks it's funny when his younger brother endangers national relations. Gay.

V - Which character do you relate to most?

GUYS I HAVE NO IDEA. I'm probably closest to Bokuto or Kageyama - and that seems odd, because they're different people, but that's how I am.'

Z - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go!

I guess I've always been interested in the idea of a true morally grey character, because sometimes there are characters that are described as morally grey, or even evil, when they're actually Just A Guy (*cough* Oikawa *cough*). The only character I can think of is probably Dazai from BSD. Everyone has an opinion and very few of them are correct. There is no way you can say he is a bad person, because many of his issues come from the fact that he is an orphan, raised by the mafia, and someone who took the opportunity to leave when prompted. Also, in his life after the mafia, he made a genuine effort to make good on his promises and fix his life, including saving Atsushi.

HOWEVER, you can't say he's a totally good person. He lived well in the mafia, because he didn't care about killing people and perhaps even enjoyed it, depending on how you view certain scenes. Many people would say that he's still not on anyone's side, he's only on his own side. This is debatable, but it's still there. PLUS you've got his continuation of the cycle of abuse through Akutagawa, and his willingness to pretend to betray his friends in order to get the outcome he wants. Everyone else is just a pawn to him.

I'm still undecided on him, but I'm proud of every fan that says "he's morally grey" rather than cutting it up into black and white. Remember that BSD was written for the stray dogs, not the ones who have lived happily all this time...

thinking about the rationale behind anti-revenge plots. there’s a universal message about grief in there— the silent understanding that the pain is huge, it is endless and it is hungry, because the hole left in your heart will never be full again. it wants to rage and rage and destroy the thing that caused this pain. it’s painfully human.

the counterpoint is this: revenge will not bring an end to the grief. you will destroy the thing that caused you pain, only to be left with pain still —and yourself, now someone who is capable of destruction. and so you shouldn’t give in. you shouldn’t let yourself be controlled by your grief, only to bring more grief upon yourself. it’s not worth it.

but the best revenge stories take all of the above and answer: the revenge should be done anyway.

it may not be worth the emotional price for the person who suffered the most to carry it out themselves, but great evil should not go unpunished. the grieving person might not be the right person to pull the trigger, but they’ll damn well sleep better knowing that the person responsible is lying cold in the ground. (and an enormous, wondrous act that someone can do for another is to say, “i see you are hurting, i can’t erase your grief, but the least that i can do is to strike down the person who did it. the least i can do is this, because i hate to see you in pain.” because what is love if not feeling their pain as if it’s your own?)

ok but mdzs really is SUCH a novel. it’s a tome of a book, the title is essentially “The First Necromancer”. the prologue is ominous — people celebrating and gossiping in turn about the mysterious death of the world’s greatest villain. and then you are immediately thrown into the POV of this exhausted post-depressed bisexual in the body of a gay twink. who proceeds to poorly fake insanity, control a bunch of corpses, argue with teenagers, and then loudly act as gay and cringe as humanly possible to avoid his problems. and then he gets kidnapped by THEE most respected person in the entire community. for gay reasons. as a BL reader you know what to expect going in but just contextually mdzs is truly SUCH a novel

important to note is that the reason hua cheng enjoying xie lian's awful food and not telling him it's bad works is because he's playing along with xie lian's act. xie lian's KNOWS his food is shitty, he is doing it on purpose, because all of it – the chaotic cooking, the inventive names, the godawful taste – reminds him of his mother and he does not want to talk about it, so he just plays carefully oblivious whenever people try to discourage him from cooking and keeps doing it. lying to your partner if their cooking is awful is bad practice, but hua cheng praising xie lian's cooking (not excessively but just enough to be encouraging) is perfect for them, because it lets xie lian just enjoy this moment of feeling close to his mother without needing to be defensive about it. once AGAIN an example of how tgcf takes unhealthy codependent romance tropes and flips them on it's head to make it the most profound shit ever. height of romance. what in the fuck

Caligraphy scene in Ch 97 is an absolute fave of mine and I even babbled a little about it here

'Family meal' in ch 103 is 500% chaotic and I ADORE it hasaoiruahsah

The tender talk on ch 120, it's so vulnerable and open, I really love it with a passion

XL having his sweet fun with HC in ch 133 is also so so good I remember about it constantly. The whole thing is hilarious and adorable [never underestimate XL, he always knows what's up, he just won't always tell you about it!]

HCs first transformationon ch 190. Easily one of the most visceral and emotional scenes to me!

name: i'm an internet old, so i never use my real name online, mainly because it's spelled in a very unique way (thanks mom & dad) - i mean like, if you googled it you could find my home address in a few seconds kind of unique - but also, though i do enjoy the spelling, i actually don't like it very much when it's said out loud? (is it weird that my name written down is 'me', but my name aloud has never felt like 'me'?) always wanted a nickname but never acquired one :/

top three fictional universe you'd like to live in: none really, if i had to still be me..maybe some kind of actually utopian future? but the pandemic has confirmed for me that i do NOT like living in interesting times, so most fictional story universes are RIGHT out. my favorites to read about like discworld or diana wynne jones' worlds would be way to chaotic for my comfort. possibly diane duane's young wizards universe would be safe enough to be okay?

last movielast stream: i don't watch streams or youtube often, so it was the same as you, vish! liu chang's birthday stream was SO enjoyable i screenrecorded the entire thing just so i could play it back (and maybe gif sometime if i ever get the drive to actually do it)

currently reading: well i just finished the translated quan qiu gao kao or global university entrance exam novel, which was sparked purely from catching a single rec post here on tumblr and basically just *falling* into this 166 chapter epic that is *amazing* and not coming up for air until i got to the end, which is typical novel-reading behavior for me (yes i was the kid who read through lunch period and got hassled by people who kept pestering me with "what're you reading" questions and yes i realize probably a lot of you on tumblr were too) plus, the new murderbot novel is out tomorrow!!!!! so that'll be where i end up next!

currently watching: the entire dmbj verse (that i can get my hands on) but ... sporadically and stopping at random different parts because the thing is ... this type of show is not really the kind i enjoy so much? so since it's more for "research" and learning character arcs (and let's be honest: shots of liu sang), etc. it's easy to get distracted by other stuff. i'm also watching the sleuth of the ming dynasty, mr queen, bromance, the expanse, re-watching farscape and stargate sg-1, just finished the falcon and the winter soldier, and then anytime something new and short gets introduced it jumps the queue. there are just. so. many. things. to. watch! (now i have to look into anti-fraud league too!? you all are cruel ...)

what is antipoetry to you: i ... don't really think much about poetry? i know what i prefer is usually the more basic rhymed kind like lewis carroll, emily dickinson, poe, coleridge, etc. so i suppose i don't have much use for classifying non-rhyming verse? i can appreciate stuff like rupi kaur which i guess would qualify? or that william carlos williams plums poem? but it doesn't really stick with me the way lyric-like verse does

currently craving: i never know what exactly this is meant to be in reference to ... hmmm, i would love a new high-concept, high production-quality movie like say, pacific rim, to be released, just for that massive, excited energy that comes with something new that hasn't already got tons of disappointing or conflicting history behind it - that would be so fun!!

other than that, right now, i mostly kinda want some fried fish? but that will have to wait until i go to get my second vaccine shot on wednesday since it's on the way there. i'd also like my internal body parts to settle down and fly right but it's been more than a month and they don't seem inclined :(((( maybe once i'm fully vaxxed i'll think about consulting somebody about it

Ohh yes I was just recently talking about Ye Ben with someone and yesss it plays in alllll the saddest scenes: after lotus pier is murdered, the nightless city cliff, the golden core reveal, when song lan is walking away on his own after the yi city story... Just hearing the music now is enough to make me want to cry.

Ooh the good place AU sounds so interesting! And it would fit them so well: xue yang as Eleanor, starting out not so good but growing as a person as he receives love and support... I can't wait to see your fanvid!

I don't write fics. I tried when I was in school but it makes me cringe whenever I think about it 😅. And no, I haven't tried any other work by mxtx although I keep hearing so much about them! Maybe I'll give tgcf a try once my work schedule gets a bit less crazy...

low-key the answer’s probably yi cheng arc for the first three questions 🙃 it’s fave bc we finally see more of xue yang, and i’d loved him since that very first scene of him in ep 3~ also i was sure he rly did care about xxc and it proved me right, and i loved seeing that other side of him… but least fave bc his and xxc’s demises quickly follow 😔 if i could, i would give them a reincarnation sequel series where they get a happy ending :’) low-key while i was reading tgcf i liked to pretend hualian were xuexiao reincarnated bc i felt like there were a lot of parallels there

other than that, tho… lsz being a-yuan for fave? he’s one of my favorite characters, and bc i was a big dummy on my first viewing, i did not see them being the same person coming at all 🤦🏻‍♀️ the reunion w/ him and wn and him and wwx made me teary (i didn’t full-on cry at all on my first viewing of cql, tho i have done so many times since aha); it was just rly touching and i loved that they were each other’s happy endings~ also, the yiling laozu… painful as it is, it’s also just So Good… xz rly flexed them acting skills, and i love all the tea wwx spills during that final confrontation 👌 the cloud recesses shenanigans are also iconic ofc… the golden core reveal and overall change in behavior of lwj after wwx comes back... mastermind nhs taking everyone (including me) for a fool... idk there’s so many wbu 😅

idk about the cql v. mdzs storyline q bc i haven’t read that much of mdzs and i haven’t noticed that many differences? so i’ll have to get back to you on that ^^ oh, i believe cql added the bit about drunk lwj with the roosters? so that was pretty great haha. & i appreciate mdzs xue yang bc we get the full context of his background story~
