➹ Julia Abe (I found someone else I wanted to send. I'm so sorry x)
Tumblr media
send me a ➹ and a fc ;; i’ll create a character on the spot
Isabela Saito
Age: Mid-20s
Born to a Brazilian mother and her immigrant Japanese father in Sao Paulo. Her family wasn't overly wealthy, but reasonably well off as her dad was a businessman. The family occasionally traveled back to Japan. Her dad inadvertently became involved with someone connected to organized crime in both countries. When he realized it, he backed out of the deal, resulting in Isabela's family being killed. She already had a little bit of martial arts experience, and perhaps a bit too much interest in ninjas, and when her family's attackers escaped justice, she went underground for a couple of years and came back to get justice, though the line between justice and revenge gets awfully blurred. She's already ruined a few criminal businesses and is on their radar and a "masked ninja" is starting to become a rumor in Sao Paulo.
Appearance: Being slightly thin and 5'4", Isabela wouldn't intimidate anyone at first glance, which is how she likes it. Her looks don't entirely favor either her Japanese or Brazilian heritage. Her ninja outfits are functional, dark blue or purple over black, tight enough to not give opponents much to grab and restrain her but allows her freedom of movement. Some padding provides protection to sensitive areas and gives her elbow and knee strikes more power. Gloves both prevent her from leaving fingerprints and protect her hands while climbing and sliding. She wears a dark mask which covers her face below her eyes and only leaves them exposed. For everyday wear, Isabela usually dresses casually, wearing a lot of t-shirts, baggy pants or loose skirts, and tries not to look like she could break someone's arms. Her hair is dark and she usually keeps it around shoulder-length.
Personality: Isabela's a fairly quiet, reserved person, and was so even before she started her ninja training. She only has a few friends, none really close. Even being introverted, she's a pretty lonely person. She definitely needs a therapist.
Skills and Weapons: Isabela is trained in traditional ninjutsu, but also incorporates some modern martial arts techniques and technology. She carries a coupe of hidden blades, and can use a stick for fighting, but also carries a more modern baton. She's a pragmatic fighter, using whatever's at reach to fight. Isabela's trained at using ropes to fight, to disarm opponents, trap and bind their limbs. She prefers nonlethal techniques, but can be pretty brutal. She's a stealth expert and knows how to sneak up and attack before her foes know what hit them, knowing her size is a disadvantage in a direct fight. Some things she carries include lockpicks, a grappling hook for getting in high places, rope for fighting or descending out of a window, and duct tape for repairing things or silencing subdued guards.

let me just talk about it.
i ruled an poc rp only once and we had that family that should be indigenous, exclusively. it was a fantasy roleplay, we weren't using anything from cultures but creating some inspired on this show that we liked a lot. so we had this indigenous family, this spanish family, this brazilian family, this black families and this argentine family. we were hanging out. i'm from peru, lived in south africa for 6 years, peru for 8, brazil for 7 and argentina for 5. currently here now. all bc of my dad's job.
i'm not indigenous myself. my grandfather was mixed, half indigenous man, but we were never proud of it once my great-grandfather literally stole my great-grandmother from her family and tribe, so we were never connected about it. we never talked about it. it IS HARD.
but once i created this roleplay and i wanted to make sure that i was doing right at least roleplaying. and i reached natalie out for having some help, because i didn't want to offend anyone. and i think it was for the worse.
i was talking to natalie on anon and i felt like trash. i don't have any experiences as an indigenous, i do not consider myself indigenous once my family was mostly made by white people and this died with my grandfather and his lands, because i don't feel like I have priority on this, so i wanted to make sure that I was doing it right.
natalie really did made me feel guilty for not "rescuing" my ancestors or my story, but how could i if the first indigenous was kidnapped and the only person that could talk to me about it died when i was 12??? and then, when i took bravery to talk about it and explain the indigenous characters we had this massive anon hate for not being truly indigenous. i wasn't understanding if i was supposed to put this diversity inspired on a tv show, or if i shouldn't because I'm not indigenous???? what was more offensive???? IT SHOULDN'T BE THAT PERSONAL. another famous gifmaker was also shading me but I'm not bringing this up. they were friend if I'm correct.
the rp was closed before we could even open. and i played this indigenous fc for a CANON character and i gave me so much anxiety that i literally stopped roleplaying for months. and i hated indigenousrph, i hate everything you were creating. I do apologize for that, I am really sorry. but I feel, for real, that natalie was a great piece for this massive hate and avoiding of indigenous faces and games: we were afraid and panicking all the time.
i don't know if this is making any sense I'm nervous and terrifying of being recognized. I just want to finally talk about how I feel. I'm sorry for causing this trouble, and I'm sorry for not being aware of my ancestors. but honestly I shouldn't be sorry. this is shit.
i want to start this off by saying that i understand the reasoning why you don't consider yourself indigenous, but if that's ever something you wanted to explore or learn more about, please know you have every right to do so. before i actively started reconnecting, i would only ever say i was native if i was specifically asked, but usually i would tell everybody i was irish and italian. it was something only mentioned every now and then in my family. (granted, my grandpa's house was decked out in dreamcatchers, photos, plaques, etc. but we just didn't actively talk about it!) but when i decided to make the leap into simply learning more about where i came from, my mindset on it switched. that's just MY experience, though. i wanted to open that up for you if that was ever something that crossed your mind! you have every right to do what's best for you, of course. now onto the natalie shit. simply... fuck her. such an ugly soul, like truly horrible. i apologize that she put you through that and ever made you feel that bad. especially to the point of not even wanting to write anymore. this is just a note for ANYBODY in the rpc but: play indigenous muses! it's nothing to be scared about (now)! all you have to do is not give them some tigerlily greywolf name, and not give them all the indigenous stereotypes (lives on a poor rez, gambles, drinks, etc.) and you're good! same with any other ethnicity, you just... PLAY THEM. but back to you - thank you for sending this in. i hope saying this give you a little bit of comfort, and heals you! nothing was your fault, your family's history is not something you are to blame for? what she did was not fair to you or to other people trying to learn more and ensure they're being respectful.

Hii 🥰
What is something you love about your MC / OC? You can create and share anything you’d like 😍 HC‘s, moodboards, edits or drabbles. Have fun and gush about your MC / OC 🥰
Also what made you create your MC /OC what was your inspiration?
thank you so much for the ask, dear! what a lovely idea 😍
I'll share about Elizabeth Foredale (f!OC / Desire and Decorum Modern AU!), who is my favorite character to write ever (I have so many stories and AUs in my drafts you wouldn't believe!), and Malia Jones (f!MC / Wake the Dead), who allows me to explore so many interesting themes.
First, what made me create my MC /OC and what was my inspiration?
The reason behind the creation of Elizabeth Foredale (OC) was the fact I was not pleased with PBs take on Brazilian characters (there was Marisa Pires and the whole party-girl vibe and then Rafael Aveiro). Back in 2018, I think, there were talks with a few of my mutuals about (mis)representation of non-USA characters in most books and it sparkled the idea to create an OC who was Brazilian like myself without the usual stereotypes seen in media: loud and sexy Latina, party-girl, always dancing samba or other sexy genre and overexposing her body and things like that. Elizabeth is the opposite of it all: she's shy and introverted, dresses more modestly and is not comfortable with partying and clubbing and prefers a nice walk at the park or a picnic... and her general development fits with the narrative in Desire & Decorum about the illegitimate daughter and other social issues that are superficially addressed in the narrative. With her character, I could talk about stereotypical things that obviously do not apply to an entire population of a country, and can be truly hurtful when reinforced, and racism, since she is the daughter of a black Brazilian woman. And it's always a pleasure to write stories about her and the way she's slowly growing into the woman she aspires to be.
For Malia Jones, she is not an OC, but a MC whose personality is closer to the book, but with a little more nuances and a backstory I have been crafting while writing the miniseries Safe and the one-shots I have posted so far. I really loved Wake the Dead and the post-apocalyptic world gave me so many ideas and themes to explore, so I'm just going along while developing many aspects about her backstory, especially after arriving with her sister at The Tower, and about her life after the end of the book. I recently decided on a FC for her: the actress Keke Palmer (specially in the images I've seen from her part in the movie Nope, her outfits would fit Malia very well). The actress has a beautiful smile, one that I think Troy Hassan would definitely fall in love with.
Why I love this MC / OC ?
Neither is a self insert, even though I see some aspects of myself in Elizabeth, but they are complex and nuanced characters. And even though Malia and Elizabeth seem so different at first, living in completely different worlds, in one Malia faces death, despair and zombies, while Elizabeth lives a privileged and sheltered life, however, in her sheltered life she's reached by tragedy - she loses in the spam of months her mother and brother and her life completely changes with going to a new country and starting a new life, which is also a sentiment familiar to Malia.
So, both of their stories have aspects in common, and it is a pleasure to explore them.
I'll share some edits for Elizabeth and of her friendship with Prince Hamid Second Chances that I have saved in my drafts forever and I think I've never posted before
