“Oh well Rhys & Feyre didn’t like each other at first” and “Nesta and Cassian couldn’t stand to be around one another at first” … “So Elucien might not be on the page NOW, but it IS endgame, that’s just how SJM writes her pairings 🙄”

But… it’s not though.

Even if they are enemies, even if they are not friends or lovers or anything yet - There is always intrigue. There is always attention, drawn to the other person. There is always SOME feeling, whether it be love, hate, attraction, or annoyance.

Feyre was told Rhys was the enemy, a monster, and yet when us readers read those scenes, we still shipped them together in ACOTAR. We were rooting for them in ACOMAF. Why?

Because their scenes, even if they were not on the best terms, were full of emotion. Full of tension, passion, some kind of pull to the other person. Their interactions left me feeling amused/scared/warm/shocked no matter what.

Even Nesta and Cassian, before their book, they were constantly at each other’s throats. But even then, you could tell Cassian would’ve done anything for her. They were willing to die with the other, and they didn’t even have time to be together yet 🥺. He was simply drawn to her, he could not stay away.

But Lucien… he is away. Not just physically, when he resides in the human lands with Vassa & Jurisn, but also on the physical pages in the book. He is barely mentioned in the story, and usually only around instances with Elain, if ever.

And in those instances he is mentioned with Elain? They are uncomfortable. They are awkward. They are avoidant. This is a fact, pointed out by nearly every single IC member, so it’s not even a reliable narrator thing. Elucien has not had many interactions, and they are all lukewarm, filled with apathy.

You can crow all you want about “oh that’s how all SJM relationships start, hate turns to love” but the don’t even have hate. They don’t have love.

They have indifference.

It is hard to write a couple that is indifferent to each other when they have quite literally the one main, revered reason in the fae world to get together: a mating bond. Like you have to go out of your way in SJM land to write a mating bond NOT as a good thing.

Nesta & Cassian’s bond wasn’t even revealed but Nesta was willing to die with him in ACOWAR. She might have been annoyed with him and hated him, but she never avoided him. She couldn’t. It’s as simple as that.

Elucien are mates already! And everyone knows! What is stopping them from getting together?

And no, it is not “Elain is still said she is fae and still mourning over Graysen.” Maybe in ACOWAR she was still mourning, but by ACOFAS she was adapting to this new world, their holidays, their traditions. She made friends, she glowed with health. And by ACOSF she is sneaking off to have a rendezvous with the Spymaster in the middle of the night. She is Elain “Put it on me” Acheron. So no, she is not still being held back by her trauma or her ex fiancée. It’s clearly written in that bonus chapter antis hold as their bible - Elain was READY for that man.

She’s not ready to face her mate though. It’s been 3 books and she still can’t even be in the same room as him. 3 books and she doesn’t even use his solstice gifts. 3 books and she doesn’t even care if he’s in Velaris or not.

Feyre was calling Rhys the most beautiful man she had seen the second they met, and Rhys was willing to die with her in just ACOTAR, before their mating bond even snapped.

Nesta & Cassian were willing to die for each other in ACOWAR, before their mating bond even snapped.

Azriel was willing to die for Elain to save her from Hybern’s camp. She kicked those hounds off him with her bare feet.

I’m not saying they’re mates or anything, but they have shown the same desperate longing, the same obsessed traits as the other couples. Elucien is the discrepancy here. Because even though they have already been established as mates, SJM has written their bond as something clearly different from Nessian & Feysand.

But I thought it was obvious.

I'm sorry but Gwyn is not getting a book. That is a fandom idea. Of course Elain's book is next. But even after that, There's not an infinite number of acotar books. Not every side character will get a whole ass spinoff novel.

Given current canon, it is even more likely Amren, Mor, Vassa or Emerie or any other character that is tied to the overarching plot and have been here since the OG trilogy or ACOFAS gets a book than Gwyn. This is not hate of Gwyn. Just like it isn't hate to say any other side character wihout ties to the overarching narrative won't get books given current canon. Gwyn's importance has been so inflated in this fandom that people are incapable of being reasonable. Turn off the shipwar brains for two seconds and anyone would see how absurd it is to claim Gwyn is getting a whole book when there's nothing she can do to drive the story forward that another character isn't already neck-deep in. There's nothing in the overarching plot that is better told by suddenly handing it to Gwyn. And it would have to be handed to her from another character, because Gwyn has nothing right now that makes her set up to be a main character. Gwyn as MC is only wishful thinking. And saying that is not hate, it's common sense.

I still can’t believe people actually think Gwyn will get a book before one of the OGs. If Mass was that interested in Gwyns character she definitely would have been introduced in acowar or acofas. She isn’t. Not even Feysan’s bonus talks about her. Like, Lucien has more of a chance in getting a book then Gwyn. Even Emerie.

Yep, personally it seems like Mass is losing interest in acotar. I wouldn’t be suprised if acotar 6 gets scrapped but even then, the last book has every chance of being a prequel…then what? A novella is maybe possible but I just dont see it since there’s more interesting characters such as Mor or the whole Helion/LOA story.

Right? I hate how claiming Gwyn getting a book is unlikely = Gwyn hate. Vassa is literally tied to Koshei - considering Mass said she was interested in a firebird lake retelling + swan lake - her book is also very likely, definitely more then Gwyns.

✨The gwynification of the fandom ✨ believing Gwyn is more important then any other character. Its crazy cause they believe Gwyn will get a book over the fact she was part of Azriels bonus but by using their own logic - Elain was part of two bonuses so…

also Gwyns book is very unlikely bcs these are stanalone books (I have a more in depth post coming on this later) meaning you should be able to go straight from acofas to acotar 4 or acotar 5 without needing to read the other one yet since Gwyn wS introduced in acotar 4, to understand a gwyn book or her origin you HAVE to read acosf which literally defeats the point of these novels being standalones. This common sense is enough to disprove Gwyn getting a book. People rlly need to step outside of the shipwar and look at the whole picture. Not just one book and an exclusive bonus.

I mentioned this in another post but yes. Gwyn would just basically be getting everyone else’s plot as she has nothing substantial of her own. It is wishful thinking bcs it’s definitely not logical thinking,

I cannot stress this enough- it isn’t hate to Gwyns character. She is lovely but it is unrealistic to think a newly introduced character will get such importance over OG characters that have had their arc set up from acowar - where mass left clues for the spinoffs.

SJM loves to use foreshadowing. She has said ,she knows what books are coming next and that it help her to plan ahead. Meaning that any theory, idea or ship needs to have canon evidence or foreshadowing to happen. This is why elriel was clear to me, yes elucien mate bond is canon for right now but it was NEVER romantically coded like it was for feysan or nessian it was just thrown at them (mating bond does not equal love). Plus their relationship has never been foreshadow in any way. There is a “death and HIS lovely fawn” , “ a seer the cauldron made you a seer” . None of this important scene was about Elain and Lucien.

Feyre and Nesta noticed eriel that’s canon they have notice the glances how Elain and Az are similar and you know what they also notice everytime Lucien is around? take a guess THAT Elain feels uncomfortable.
