I'm a Hermes enjoyer so yes I vote Hermes. But imagine, just imagine what the guy could achieve (and not achieve) if he had at least someone to talk to, someone he could be honest with, someone he trusts who wouldn't question or judge his views or feelings, someone he could be vulnerable with. Imagine the person he could have become. Even Yoshi-P said that had Hermes someone like Azem, he might not have turned out the way he did. And as someone who is often overwhelmed by her own unnecessary feelings and thinks it's better not to burden everyone with her unnecessary thoughts, seeing Hermes was like a punch to the gut, because that's what you'll get, and who you'll become, when you don't have a good support system. Hermes needs more than a hug, but don't underestimate the cartharsis a simple hug, and hence acknowledgement of his feelings, can give.

Personally I like the in-universe versatility of various disciplines that is implied by the Scions' flexible roles and I don't really care that it's not born out in our gameplay in the same way. I like that Red Mage Alisaie can be the party's healer if needed. I like the Exarch being an all-rounder because of the extent of his experience and magical abilities. I like that Arcanist Urianger can be a DPS or a healer (he's best known for his unique carbuncle but he wears healer gear in the Heavensward patches). I like that in-universe the hard boundaries of various disciplines can blur a bit, especially those like like Red Magic which in the lore are meant to be a blend of two schools. It's neat, it feels more realistic, and it leaves open a lot of fun possibilities for headcanons.

I make very little secret off of that I very much enjoy ERP, especially in the Quicksands, but am a lot pickier with where, how, and with who i seek it out with. As it stands, taking the same approach as negotiating a kink scene has worked well for finding out good partners to RP with, or just to chat and spend time together. And tehre have been plenty of times where I've found a lot of genuinely great RPers that have been happy and eager to expand from SFW RP to ERP or vice versa, or incorporate one into the other, or any number of things

this is not to say that the scene is oversexualized, but I definitely think it is a particular flaw of thinking that the roleplay scene at large is solely Balmung Quicksands, when

>Mateus' Quicksands is where folks now go to do more public, tavern meetup, SFW RP by and large >Folks in Balmung's QS usually are already happily in scenes with others that they have RPd with before, or are already talking to >with F-lists and carrds and search infos, you now have a pretty good idea even before /tell'ing someone as to what kind of RP they're looking for and interested in

Not to mention that since DC travel, roleplay has become far more decentralized (which is a good thing, in some ways, and bad)

idk there's an entire dissertation that could be wrote on the FFXIV roleplay community over the years, and a tumblr post isn't the most elucidatory place to do it, but I care it a lot and have had so many of my most positive formative online experiences there

Anytime I see a PF or Discord listing like "Hot Miquo'te willing to do ANYTHING for gil! Winky face!"

I wish I had the "f-you" gil to pop on and be like - "Alright here's a million gil, grab your pickaxe we're farming ore for two straight hours. What you wanted to get off? Well I want to get this crafting achievement OFF my list and the mats don't mine themselves so let's go! Hop to it!"
