Oh boy time to try out this new alliance raid!

I'm a tank main

I always do new content as Xio's canon job first

I haven't done any combat content in months, and last time I did it I was on my other tank job.

Knowing the above what are my chances of being the Alliance B tank, thus the main tank for the entire raid?

If you guessed 100%, you'd be fucking correct. What a way to shake off any rust. Phenomenal fights tho, fuck they were really fun.

For a while now I've been looking for a setting in FFXIV and I've finally found it. It's not NEW, but I don't think it's commonly known either.

I wanted the setting that changes the player's name color in chat, according to their role. For example, if they are tank, their name would be blue, if they are healer, their name would be green, and if they are DPS, their name would be red.

At first I thought it was this ⤵️

The "Apply colors according to role." check mark option. But what that does, is this;

It may be a bit difficult to tell here because I tried to edit names in the screenshot (attempting to be considerate of people). It's really hard to see the ONE tank in my Alliance (B). But that option color codes the names of players above their head, in your party. And It doesn't effect other players in your alliance. (I have my alliance name plates set to a color very similar to that green apparently... I might change it.)

After learning this (literally today), I went searching again and found the real thing. It's this ⤵️

Found in Character Configuration > Log Window Settings > Button at the top right that says "Name Display Settings"

It'll open a new window called "Chat Log Name Display Settings".

I feel like this is rather hidden tbh 😅. But I was going over this topic with a couple friends in Discord and honestly this find is nice. We're all going to be using it 👌🏻

You can mess with the settings and apply them, and view how they'll look real time at the bottom with the small chat 'example' they provide.

It's just one of those small quality of life things, y'know? It's not game breaking, but it's nice to have 😊

Particularly as of Shadowbringers and Endwalker one the WoL's key canon traits is how they attempt to understand their enemies - even if conflict is unavoidable or a villain's crimes unforgivable they still want to know who they're fighting and why. On the opposite end a core point of Zenos's character, and the source of many of his problems, is that he doesn't understand others and doesn't care to try, not until his final confrontation with the WoL and his last moments where he's asking them all these questions in an attempt to actually know them rather than just project himself on them like he's always done.

As his Voidsent Avatar, Zero's arc is an extension of this, in a way - see the way she still thinks and talks about Zenos, tries to understand him, while looking to the WoL and their friends to relearn how to human. This fully matures into her making efforts to understand Golbez, and succeeding in offering friendship to him. This is why Golbez's first steps to redemption feel more powerful and moving then if we'd simply defeated him, because it completes a closed circle of trust (doubly so if either Durante or the original Golbez is the Azem shard of the Thirteenth, as some popular theories suggest).

And all of this with the motif of hand-holding/handshakes/reaching out a hand: Zero learning the gesture from Jullus, extending a hand to help Golbez, shaking hands with the WoL as a sign of their friendship; compared to Zenos reaching out his hand towards the WoL at the end, or Durante and Golbez's original attempt to recruit Zero, both of which did not reach, but I think those connections are ultimately fulfilled by the end of this arc.

I understand why they nerfed Thaliak the thirst would be too extreme. Still not happy about it tho they can give Nophica huge bazonga's yet can't give us some man tits. WTF is he even wearing they could have saved themselves so much work by just having him half naked.
