anal on the beach w/ gaz. a spiritual continuation of that one cbf! dry humping blurb i wrote but can be read separately
kinda dubcon. anal (obviously). manipulation. semi-public sex (no one catches you). gn! reader
he texts you that he’s got an extra ticket to fiji. the message is brief, spontaneous like he tends to be. pack your bags. eta 1420. you planned on rotting home all weekend, already in your pyjamas and hair care, looking every bit a wreck as you feel. it isn’t exactly the opportune time for him to come by; though you know mentioning it won’t do anything to change the fact that he will.
frankly, the whole thing reeks of that kyle-specific class of manoeuvring you’ve come to know in recent. catching you off guard with something you can’t say no to, and using it to push you past what you’re comfortable with. you’re tempted to refuse. it’s too short a notice. pick someone else. but a week long beach trip sounds nice, actually. work has been killing you. your personal life’s a mess. every date you’ve managed to snag in the past month has ghosted you. and to top it all off, you miss your best friend – his odd quirks and all.
so your body’s way of protesting is to slip off the couch, refocusing on the effort it takes to haul your luggage out of storage rather than your several woes. by the time kyle comes by, you’re in a sweatsuit and sneakers, bag stuffed with all the swimsuits you’ve owned since high school; you doubt you’ll have time to wash one between swims.
and it’s nice. you sit next to one another on the plane, syncing your movies by counting down to three. yours is always a few seconds behind, but he waits for your reactions before delving into a spiel about how realistic it is to drive a knife into someone’s throat with just your teeth, à la dev patel. you listen, swinging off every word he says into your own conversations, and it goes that way until the old lady two rows back shushes you. you, specifically, seeing as kyle charmed her into deference when he helped her lift her bags in the overhead compartments. always so considerate.
still, you’re concerned about falling asleep next to him, lest you wake to find a hand kneading your inner thigh.
nothing weird happens, though. you touch down in fiji and check into a lagoon resort (we managed to find you that king room, mr. garrick – the receptionist adds with a smile, eclipsing the weary way you regard sharing one bed. but you’ve had your fair share of cramped family vacations, and are well-versed in the subtle art of pillow walls to keep his side and yours separate.) that first night, he gives you an hour to dress up for dinner reservations while he fetches snacks for the room. make it pretty, yeah? we’re meeting a few distant cousins f’mine. i told them we’re dating to keep the work questions off my back.
nothing weird happens. until—
you take a boat out to Fulaga after citing it as one of the least populous islands. with wisps of white sand, like baker’s flour beneath your feet, and limestone islets across electric blue waters, it’s hard to see why.
no matter to either of you. you lay your towel on flat patch of sand, smothering yourself in sunscreen to play a game of chicken and waves. a vain endeavour, of course. he’s always willing swim out further than you, diving under quivering waters to arch amongst sea turtles and ulavi.
eventually, you grow bored of watching him from the shore, ambling back to your set-up to make use of the oils you bought for an exorbitant price. they lacquer over your skin, the places you can reach, to reflect the light overhead. you recall a quote you read in uni as you slather – something about people broiling themselves as though they were nothing but cuts of meat – and falter for just a moment. it had seemed crude at the time, particularly in the context in which it read, but as you prep yourself for the sun, you can’t help but feel exposed. vulnerable. like predatory eyes are tuned in all around you, peeking from the foliage, the waves, and honed on your slippery flesh.
you tell yourself you’re being silly, and spread yourself back on your towel. the heat licks away at your worries, making good work of laving the salty stress off your neck. you measure time in how long it takes for the sand to flake off your feet, drying as the rest of you does.
when the soft stretch of your stomach starts to burn, you turn yourself over and bury your cheek into the fibres cradling you. sun-drunk, chafed, bruised a little from the choppy waters, you welcome sleep when it inches on your conscious.
“and what are you doing exactly?” kyle huffs, encroaching on your sanctuary. you can’t see him, though you can almost hear the water vaporising off his dark skin. sizzling. the heat sinks into your side once he flops down onto his own towel.
“sunbathing.” you mumble, reluctant to give more than a words response lest it shakes you out of languor.
“the water’s great. you’re missing out.”
“mm. later.”
“and what am i supposed to do?” he all but whines, tugging at the complicated strings that tie your bottoms up on your hips. it doesn’t feel as suggestive as it might be. all you can manage, in the wake of your scoured unease, is annoyance.
“read. dig. sleep.”
he doesn’t take to your advice, shuffling until his knee presses into your arm. “you missed a spot on your back.”
“get it, then.”
“where’s the lube?”
your head snaps up, eyes narrowed both to adjust to the brightness and in admonishment. “oil.”
“same difference.” his grin is wicked, white and impossible to upbraid. rolling your eyes, you settle back down, face turned the other way around to keep an eye on him.
“in my bag.”
he shuffles through your stuff until he comes up with the hot pink bottle, making no stop for confirmation before he squirts the contents over his hands. they feel every bit as big as they look when they press into your back, right below your nape. rough, barnacled with callouses, but softened a bit by the ointment so it doesn’t hurt when his thumbs run circles around your shoulder blades. you sound an appreciative moan.
“say, if you’re short on something to do, y’can always massage me.”
“yeah, yeah. doubt you’ll return the favour.”
“i would... later.”
he laughs. “whatever. isn’t what i want, anyway.”
“and what do you want?” you ask. not because you’re curious – but so long as entertaining him keeps his efforts on your sore muscles, you’ll keep at it.
“oh, y’know.” kyle hums. ambiguous. you don’t know, not really. not until one caress strays lower than it should, conforming to the rounded shape of your ass. your cheeks clench with the sudden touch. he takes it as confirmation that you must want the same thing, too. “these bottoms aren’t leaving much to the imagination, mate.”
“th-they’re old.”
“this pert thing is practically eating them. can’t see fabric anymore.” he squeezes the fat there, shaking it in a vice grip that doesn’t so much as allow you to sit up, to knock his assault off. “want me to look for it?”
“kyle–”
“kyle.” he mocks, snickering. your hesitation does nothing to dissuade him. instead, he rocks up to straddle your legs, hands moving away from your back to settle below the curve of your ass. you don’t know what’s hotter – the damp, sun-bleached sand cushioning you, or the way he spreads either cheek apart, groaning when your swim-suit slips to expose the tight rim under it. “fuck. you been hiding this from me?”
“i- i don’t… please don’t be w-weird about this.”
“dunno what you mean by that.” he says, then promptly proceeds to be weird about it as his knuckle grazes your hole. you’re stiff, printing an indelible mark on beach. “never had it touched before?”
“no. i’m not a freak.”
“ouch, darl.” but he’s already spurting a hefty amount of oil onto you, working it in with a thick thumb. effectively makes good on his stupid name for it; lubes you up, nice and slick, so the only pain that arises at his intrusion is the virgin stretch. “promise it feels good.”
and you hate to admit it, but it does. once you get over the foreign sensation of his finger pistoning where you’ve never been fucked before, it stirs a tumultuous heat in your belly. part of it, you think, isn’t so much the physical sensation as it is the taboo of it all. despite the beach being virtually empty, void of any life but hermit crabs and the two debauched humans at its centre, there’s a delicious thrill that curls with the risk of being caught. not only being conventionally raunchy, but having your ass gaped by your best friend. what a sight you must make, pinned to the ground, having your sense pared off you in slow, painstaking layers.
one finger becomes two, and two soon turns to three.
the sound is so lewd, borderline disgusting when set against the natural ambience. you squelch and suck around him, lube smacking between your nates. and you lament it in slow, drawn-out breaths. embarrassed, wailing, soughing with the briny wind. kyle’s determined to get you ready for something much bigger, it seems, because four digits cram into your hole and scissor apart.
“is that re- really necessary?” you pick your sand- dusted face off the towel to huff into the thick air.
you feel him jostle atop your legs. shrugging, likely, in that deferent way he does when he realises acquiescence will better serve his purpose.
“whatever you want, mate.” there’s the sound of wet fabric scratching against itself, his trunks shucked down to rest mid-thigh. “i was getting impatient, anyway.”
if the excitement in his tone isn’t enough of a forewarning, he soon makes you regret saying anything at all when he notches his cock against you. it’s fat even at the end, the head too hefty to fit between your spread cheeks. it slips as it searches for purchase, rubbing against the excess lube he pours for aid, before pushing in. not in one fell swoop, but with five short, strong thrusts to finally anchor into your asshole.
you squeal, grasping behind you, onto his wrists for stability. you feel capsized, heeled over, thrown off kilter. shells and sparkling horizons dot the backs of your eyelids, liquid pleasure coursing through your veins. nothing about it is romantic, momentous like firsts should be. rather, you liken it to soap scum. spume. salt crusted hair. natural conclusions to things you overlook.
“s’fuckin’ tight, soft. can’t breath when you squee-eeze me like th-that. loosen up… up, mate.”
“k-kyle. fuck. ah! i c-can’t, you’re so… yersobig.”
“tried, didn’t i? b’you wanted to complain. next time i’ll make you t-take it dry… teach you how to count your, your blessings.”
and that turn of phrase – next time – is what sticks as he thrusts into you. not the implication that it’ll be painful, or that he intends to punish you for whatever it is you did wrong – but that this isn’t the last incident of its kind.
you had excused his homecoming – that first time he rushed you with a hug and came in his pants – as incidental, weeks of pent up energy. you try to excuse this – this, taking your ass on a vacation he probably booked precisely for the two of you – even while it unfolds, searching for justification in the distance between here and home.
but you’re not stupid. what becomes increasingly clear, as kyle fixes your waist in place and cants your hips higher, balls slapping your greased thighs, tightening with his looming orgasm, is that this was never meant to be a one time thing.
(won’t be, if he has any say in it.)
you resolve to think about it later. later; the coil in your stomach ripping a blinding release.

“ the wag diaries ”
The Origin Story
~ Sam Kerr ~
~~~~~~~~~~
• just graduated, you were a pretty average uni student
• except not entirely
• you were a couple of years older than most of your class
• America, Fiji, Asia you had become a full granola-girl, travel fiend for a couple of years
• hiking and surfing through the days, partying with your hostel friends through the night
• you were the textbook “trying to discover myself” gap-year kid
• yes, you even came home with a pair of those classic baggy trousers plastered with elephants
•although things went a little better for you considering the internet fame your YouTube doc got you (but we’ll get back to that)
• with two younger siblings (twins) you were blunt, and impatient
• but ultimately cared far more about others than you did yourself
• they were your best friends
• elys was renowned for his practical jokes and getting in trouble that only you could get him out of
• enya was the perfect, youngest child, spoilt in just the right way
• always encouraging you to let her practice her makeup skills or plant pretty flowers in the garden
• especially when your mum died, they were the only ones able to get you out of bed
• or failing that at least encourage a smile to your face
• specially considering the lacklustre relationship you had with your dad… who wasn’t really your dad
• your bio-father split before you were born so at 8 you were introduced to your new stepdad
• he was your sibling's father though so you always felt out of the loop, especially once your mum was gone
• growing up in a football family you were their biggest fan when they progressed from grassroots to academy and academy to first team
• attending every game clad in blue with a painted face, number 1 soccer mom to the max
• you would do anything for them
• the biggest people pleaser
• even if it meant catching a flight to a homophobic country to watch your brother's world cup debut
• just a wounded soul who’s afraid to disappoint
• absolutely underestimate your worth
• just trying to blend into the background
• despite being a secret slut for attention and craving someone to care for you for once
• you’d portray the perfect child to your family so they assume you’re a rebel kid really
• but you felt pretty average growing up
• you were adored in your hometown, always helping the elderly with their grocery shopping and the kids with their homework
• a babysitter and a tutor
• a football coach too
• you played as a kid, much like your siblings
• but the teenage depression when your mum died meant you lost all character and quit all hobbies
• at least for a couple of years
• alonely kid in high school, didn’t drink before you were of age, never went to a school party, or hung out smoking in a field
• always followed the rules at school, middle-of-the-road type of student, not memorable for being too good or too bad
• you were a classic 90’s kid except you refused to let the era go
• as a kid, your mum’s camcorder was on you always
• you loved filming everything and always forced your siblings into being the stars
• which was especially easy when it was their football skills you were showing off
• when you got older you filmed your travels, mainly to send back home but actually gained some traction online
• and then during covid when you and the twins resorted to your roots
• it turns out a YouTube series about two of Chelsea and England’s up-and-coming stars actually does pretty well
• despite being a film student graduate you had no intentions of following your peers to Hollywood or the BBC
• it was your sister who secured you a job with Chelsea
• a big surprise at Christmas when Elys unveiled a new camera and Enya followed up with a contract to start in the summer
• somehow you had never met any of the other Chelsea players, always rushing off to travel home after watching the game in the stands
~~~~~~~~~~
Sam’s definitely my most worked on wag diaries so far, already got 2 more blurbs lined up about her😂😅

I don't think I'm ever going to have the time to write it, but I've been thinking about a Rimster Overboard (1987) AU story for like two years, tentatively called "Shipwrecked".
For background: Lister, at his 23rd birthday party, gets so drunk that he spends all of his money on a one-way ticket to Fiji. He wakes up with no resources, friends, or any semblance of a plan except "make enough money to buy some land and start a farm."
Land, however, is hard to come by in Fiji. It's mostly underwater in the dismal future of Red Dwarf, and what land there is is mostly owned by big hotel companies operating from richer countries like Australia or Indonesia. Most of the indigenous population, as well as other less affluent locals, live in houseboats or, in some cases, make their own land by collecting patches of plastic from the ocean on top of some of the polluted, muddy shallows left after the volcanic eruption, and filling in the holes with sediment and rocks to keep the plastic from getting back into the ecosystem. Some start building homes and businesses on this reclaimed land, since it's all they can build on.
Eventually, Lister makes friends with a local who runs a bar and restaurant on one of these artificial land masses, and makes some money on occasion by stepping in as a temporary cook when the usual chef, his friend's wife, isn't able to come in. Other than that, he makes the rest of his cash by ferrying tourists around in a cab boat that he found half-sunk near one of the run-down mega-resorts on the remaining islands. (These resorts are mostly run by mechanoids, since they don't really draw enough tourists to pay the salaries of human employees.)
And now, the story begins.
A big shuttlecraft lands in Fiji, full of extremely grumpy astros. They'd all been told they were going to "Fuji," and had been looking forward to a night in Japan. Lister picks up one of them on his ferry boat, a deeply unpleasant man claiming to be an officer named "Christopher Todhunter". After a bombastic encounter that ends with Lister's boat springing a leak and not even getting paid for his trouble, he calls the night a wash and goes to his friend's bar.
There, he meets another astro, Kristine Kochanski. They hit it off, have a great time together, spend the night, and when she needs to leave the next morning, exchange contact information and promise to send letters.
After she leaves, Lister immediately writes a letter about how he thinks it was love at first sight, and he's going to get his life together so that the next time her ship, Red Dwarf, is near Earth, they'll be able to start a life together. Brimming over with hope and optimism, he takes his letter to the interplanetary customs station in Fiji on the biggest remaining island.
There, the unpleasant officer from the night before is arguing with a computer, an outdated AI named "Dolly."
He'd apparently fallen out of a shuttle and knocked his head, and can't remember anything about his life or identity. After he storms off, Lister tells the computer everything he knows: the guy is called "Christopher Todhunter," and he's an officer on some big ship. The computer insists that nobody by that name was reported missing. Lister asks what will happen to the guy while his identity is being sorted out. Dolly says he'll be stuck at the government offices for the whole time, even if it takes days and days, since they can't let random astros loose on Earth with no screening.
Lister offers him a place to stay, and Dolly insists that she can only release him to family. Lister asks if he could pretend to be his husband, just until they figure out where he needs to go. He thinks it's a good opportunity to mess with the guy for wrecking his boat, but also give him somewhere nicer to stay than the customs office. Dolly agrees, mostly because she's bored.
"Chris" is deeply concerned about Lister's sudden declaration, but doesn't have anywhere else to go so he reluctantly leaves with Lister. On the way he insists that there must be some mistake because he's absolutely certain that he isn't gay, but Lister assures him that, no, they're both straight, but love each other so much that they got married anyway. Chris is not particularly convinced by this, but Lister assures him that it was extremely romantic, especially when Chris gave up his high-flying officer career for him.
They get back to Lister's place: basically a small houseboat with a broken motor. There's only one bedroom, but Lister says that he'll sleep on the couch for as long as Chris can't remember anything, letting him have the room.
Chris asks where all of his things are, and Lister tells him that they share everything. He says that Chris gave up everything except his officer's uniform for him, again insisting on how romantic that is.
Chris doesn't really believe him, until that night. He can't sleep, and leaves the room to get some water, only to hear Lister talking in his sleep, muttering something about "Krissie".
The next morning, he's resigned to his life as the straight, gay-married husband of a part time boat cabbie.
Everything after that is a bit vague. I know there'd be a climactic pictionary game with Lister's friends, for example. And Chris would eventually, awkwardly, admit that he might have been lying about being straight, and Lister starts to feel very guilty about putting him in this situation that was supposed to be temporary, but seems to be dragging on longer and longer. Lister would receive a Dear John letter from Kochanski leading to a correspondence about possible missing people from her ship ("No, I don't know about anyone going missing, certainly no officers... I don't know a Chris Todhunter, but I do know a Frank Todhunter" "My brother! I have a brother Frank, I remember that!"), and eventually Rimmer is picked up by his family, who had already reported him dead and were annoyed about how much paperwork it was going to take to reverse that.
I think that Lister, who thinks that Chris is quite a bit wealthier than he is, eventually indulges in thoughts of how, maybe, Chris will remember who he is, and still love Lister. And maybe they can really do something good together with Chris' resources. I think he has a dream of helping out his friend by somehow, nebulously, replacing the awful mega-resorts with something his friend owns, but eventually figures out that that isn't even something that the guy WANTS, that he's just happy to have something he built, where he can make people feel comfortable and rebuild some sense of community amid all the wreckage.
Anyway, I doubt I'll ever have the time to write this story, but it's definitely one that's stuck in my mind. I think the setup lends itself to some phenomenal character interactions, some of the name-related coincidences make me giggle, and most of all, I find the setting extremely evocative. (One of the reasons I'm hesitant to write it, really, is that I don't think I could do the setting justice.) Hopefully the bones of the story are still fun to read about!

FIJI ~ THE RETURN
(Yasawa islands & the Coral Coast)
🎶 “One the road again” since the dreaded global pandemic. I left Canada at the end of 2016, now it’s 2023 and may the travels continue. Currently living in Brisbane Australia with my partner in crime. Zach and I travelled 5 hours to Fiji, only to be met by the warm weather and musical greetings.
Nadi: Hustling to find a taxi we made it to smugglers accomodation. Just as I remembered 6 years ago, smugglers is somewhere to crash for a night and nothing much has changed. The following morning we hopped on a bus and headed through Nadi to Port Denarau where we met our boat, the south sea island cruiser. Aboard the vessel we road the roof top, 4.5 hours all the way up the Yasawa islands to the famous Blue Lagoon Resort.
Blue Lagoon: White sandy beaches fringed in coconut palms, cobalt blue and turquoise coloured ocean. Blue lagoon is home to an endless natural beauty and the loveliest of islanders. Located near the end of the Yasawa chain of islands. Fun Fact: Blue Lagoon is known and named after the 1980s film, “Blue lagoon” (starring Brooke Sheilds). We spent our time here free diving the “Sawai-Lo” caves on the neighbouring island. Snorkelling with turtles, sea life and a vast display of ancient colourful corals. After a scenic hike accompanied by the village dog we named, “Nipples” our evenings were plentiful. Kava rituals, an endless buffet, traditional song and dance that even we were sure to partake in. Blue lagoon was one to remember.
Manta Ray: Onto the next one! After the Lagoon we ventured down to Manta Ray Island, an island I had once visited 6 years prior. Friendly and laid-back, this island will forever leave its mark in my mind. Scenic views of neighbouring islands and known for its flocks of majestic manta rays that soar through the current like birds in the air. Often the locals will sound a conch-shell and as if it were a Black Friday sale, everyone then races like a group of warriors to the boats. Prepared to battle the current in hopes of seeing these majestic Mantas. We swam like hell in attempt to see them but ended up being the 2 of few who were unsuccessful. We enjoyed a lovely meal with an evening in our seaside villa just steps from the ocean, the waves lulling us to sleep. The following morning we watched the sunrise and enjoyed a beach stroll, playing with hermit crabs along the shoreline. We were met with slight disappointment as the island pump had broken, running us out of clean water. Unfortunate and uncommon but not the end of the world, we had to quickly re-arranged accomodation to another island further south.
Naqalia: Travelling from Manta Ray we headed down the Yasawa to a small island called, Naqalia. With the change in accomodation we managed to find a small home stay with a local family on the island. Unique and rustic, the family ran a lodge that was completely hand made and everyone played a part in accomodating us. With little cost Zach and I had a roof over our heads and met handful of fellow travellers, open to experiencing Fiji locals like few tourists ever get the privilege of having. The family cooked a meal that I strongly attest was the best food we had the entire trip. However Zach wasn’t feeling great so the following day he stayed back while I did something I’ve never done before. The teenage boys from the Fijian family of Naqalia had driven an older couple and myself kilometres from land to a large reef in the open ocean. After getting past some large waves we jumped in the centre of the reef where we snorkelled above large trumpet fish and schools of white tip reef sharks. The young boys who brought us even hand fed the sharks right in front of us which seemed dangerous yet thrilling.
Barefoot Kuata: After a short stay at Naqalia lodge we were brought over by a small boat to Barefoot Kuata. Over the shallow beach and endless colourful reef, tucked away in the towering palm trees is a hidden gem. Barefoot Kuata resort is a luxurious stay where Zach and I had an amazing boho-beach inspired accomodation with an outdoor shower and bathtub. After exploring the cave and sunset lookouts with endless views. We kicked back with great Buffett dinner and night snorkel. The following morning we both went diving for the first time in 3.5 years. Unlike any other dive this particular one was with 3 meter long bull sharks. Known for being an aggressive breed of shark species, we still did it. Watching 10+ of these fascinating animals swarm in a feeding frenzy as one of the locals fed them at a depth of 22 meters. Barefoot was a memorable stay and a place I’d love to visit again.
South Sea Island: Six years ago I had a very memorable, laid back stay on south sea island. Taking only minutes to walk the perimeter of this island, and accomodating no more than a handful of people. I had connected with a group of travellers I still occasionally keep in touch with. However it seemed this island had a subtle facelift and is now a popular destination for other travellers looking to spend the day from neighbouring islands. Still very enjoyable, we slept in a small cabin steps from the sea. Watching the sunset change, as it went from a small amber glow to filling the sky with touches of magenta and cotton candy pink. After saying goodbye to the Yasawa islands and the few fellow people we met along the way we carried on to the mainland.
The Road Trip: Embracing spontaneity, we met a local worker on south sea island who agreed to driving us 2.5 hours for $200. Even though it was very much out of his way, it was the best way to educate ourselves. Before starting the road trip into the night, we first stopped by his village where we had the privilege of meeting some of his family and local animals. Zach, the driver and I spent this time indulging and comparing cultures and ethnicities before picking up a fourth. We pulled into a village to pick up the drivers cousin and the 4 of us carried along driving. Like the beginning of a bad joke, an Australian, Canadian and two Fijian men drove across mainland Fiji comparing stories and sharing riddles.
Pacific Harbour: After the long and winding roads, we said goodbye to our fellow Fijians. Ending up at our final destination…The Pearl Resort. Located in Pacific Harbour, The Pearl is a beautifully landscaped resort with all the comforts of home. This did not end the adventurers in us! We managed to squeeze 2 more dives in with a local company. These exploration dives were stunning! An array of sea life, lion fish, sharks, trumpet fish, nudibranch and soft corals. My particular favourite part was the ship wreck at a depth of 23 meters with large over hanging fan corals cascading off the sides of this rusty, old vessel.
After our final experience scuba diving we headed back to The Pearl. This location is a great way to stop and rest before heading back to the hardships of reality. Here we lived the highlife, indulging in food, spa treatments and poolside cocktails. Amazingly, to my surprise I even bumped into one of my south sea “fellow travellers” from 6 years ago. However this time she came with family too, not the lonely traveller who I once met a long time ago. So happy for her! (Laura)
First time overseas since the global pandemic, first time travelling with Zach, second time in Fiji and it’s just as wondrous as I recall. Home to 333 islands, 120 of those islands inhabiting the loveliest of local people. With its main source of economy being tourism you can understand why Fiji is an oasis for those wanting an escape. A tropical paradise scattered amongst the Pacific Ocean, Fiji will always hold special unforgettable memories.
Bula and Vinaka Levu
“Life and Thank you very much”
Until next time,

A Family of Clark's Anemonefish in Fiji
A Family of Clark's #Anemonefish in Fiji. #scuba #diving #nature #fiji #wildlife #sealife #coral #reef
Today the sea is flat, and the sun is shining. The dive boats are loaded with tanks and scuba gear. We head towards a new dive site about 45 minutes from the resort. One by one, buddy teams descend along a sloping sea wall in the Koro Sea. I see a family of Clark’s Anemonefish, and I can’t resist stopping and observing them swim in and around the Anemone. Exploring Fiji with Convenience: Your Guide to Private Rental Cars in Nadi, Suva, and Lautoka
Fiji is a breathtaking destination known for its pristine beaches, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality. Whether you’re visiting for a vacation or business, having the freedom to explore at your own pace is key to making the most of your trip. One of the best ways to achieve this is by opting for private rental cars in Nadi, car rental in Suva Fiji, and car rental Lautoka Fiji. Here's why renting a car in these popular cities is the perfect solution for your travel needs.
Why Choose Private Rental Cars in Nadi?
Nadi is the main entry point for most international visitors flying into Fiji. While public transportation is available, it can be restrictive, especially if you want to explore the hidden gems off the beaten path. Opting for private rental cars in Nadi allows you to create your own itinerary, stop at scenic spots, and travel comfortably without the hassle of fixed schedules.
Imagine cruising along the Coral Coast, stopping at picturesque villages, or taking a detour to the stunning Sabeto Hot Springs. With a rental car, these experiences are within easy reach. From compact cars to SUVs, you'll find a variety of vehicles to suit your needs, whether you're traveling solo, with family, or in a group.
Car Rental in Suva, Fiji: Navigating the Capital
Suva, Fiji's bustling capital, is the heart of the country’s political, cultural, and economic activities. For business travelers or tourists looking to experience the city’s vibrant life, renting a car is essential. Public transport may not take you to all the places you wish to visit, but with car rental Suva Fiji, you can explore the city and its surroundings at your own pace.
In Suva, you’ll find various attractions like the Fiji Museum, Thurston Gardens, and Colo-i-Suva Forest Park. Additionally, renting a car gives you the flexibility to venture outside the city and explore nearby areas like Pacific Harbour or the beautiful waterfalls of the Namosi Highlands. Whether for business or leisure, having a reliable vehicle at your disposal ensures you can navigate Suva and beyond with ease.
Discovering the West with Car Rental in Lautoka, Fiji
Located on Fiji’s western coast, Lautoka is another key city that offers plenty of opportunities for exploration. Known as the "Sugar City," Lautoka is home to Fiji’s largest sugar mill and offers a gateway to the stunning Mamanuca and Yasawa islands. Opting for car rental in Lautoka Fiji enables you to explore the city’s rich history, visit local markets, or take a scenic drive along the coastline.
If you're planning to visit nearby resorts or take day trips to other attractions, having a rental car provides the freedom and convenience to make spontaneous stops along the way. From Lautoka, you can easily reach top destinations like the Garden of the Sleeping Giant, Vuda Point Marina, and the Sabeto Valley.
Benefits of Renting a Car in Fiji
Convenience: Renting a car provides unmatched flexibility, allowing you to travel according to your own schedule.
Comfort: Modern rental cars come with air conditioning and ample space, making your journey through Fiji's tropical climate much more pleasant.
Cost-effective: Depending on your travel plans, renting a car can be more affordable than hiring taxis or relying on tour operators.
Freedom: Whether you’re staying in Nadi, Suva, or Lautoka, a rental car lets you discover both popular tourist spots and lesser-known attractions at your own pace.
How to Book a Private Rental Car in Nadi, Suva, or Lautoka
Booking a rental car in Fiji is straightforward. Many reputable rental agencies operate in Nadi, Suva, and Lautoka, offering online reservations. You can choose from a wide range of vehicles, including economy cars, sedans, 4x4s, and vans, depending on your needs. Make sure to book in advance, especially during peak tourist seasons, to ensure vehicle availability and to secure the best rates.
Before booking, it’s also essential to check the rental terms and conditions, such as insurance coverage, fuel policies, and any mileage limits. This ensures a smooth and hassle-free rental experience.
Conclusion
Exploring Fiji by car is one of the best ways to truly experience the country’s beauty, culture, and hidden gems. Whether you’re in need of private rental cars in Nadi, car rental in Suva Fiji, or car rental in Lautoka Fiji, you’ll find plenty of reliable options to suit your travel needs. So, the next time you’re planning a trip to Fiji, consider renting a car to make your journey even more memorable. Enjoy the freedom to explore at your own pace, discover off-the-beaten-path locations, and create unforgettable experiences.

Travelling with young kids
Families with young kids flock to the South Pacific islands for well-deserved breaks and first family holidays, and why wouldn’t they? It’s got pristine beaches, nanny services and kids clubs, English is the second language, and all within only a few hours flight of Australia’s East Coast!
But travelling with toddlers and younger babies can bring on bouts of anxiety for lots of parents; all the planning and packing can be overwhelming. But we are here to help! As the experts in all things South Pacific ( and with a few mums on our team too!) we have the advice you need to make your trip a success. Read on below for our Top Tips, and Contact Us or call on 1800 800 722 for further info or assistance.
Flights and Airports
The logistics of a family holiday can be mind boggling, so let’s start from the beginning — the actual travelling!
When planning your trip consider the ages of your kids and what that means for their airfares. Infants under 2 years old generally fly at 10% of the adult price BUT they don’t get a seat and aren’t given a checked bag allowance. Remember this when you’re packing to avoid those excess baggage fees you can get stung with at the desk! Alternatively you can upgrade the fare to give them a seat of their own (great for night flights or longer durations to give tired parents a break! Must be with an approved child restraint system however) or include a suitcase. Kids from 2 to 11 years usually pay around 75% of the adult flight price, but some airlines such as Fiji Airways offer specials throughout the year with child fares at less than 50%, so plan ahead — and don’t forget to give your travel agent the kids dates of birth so they can be sure to secure the correct price for you!
International flights usually open 3 hours before departure, and aiming to arrive at this time means you won’t have to rush everyone through check-in and security. It also means you can get situated and allow the kids to play a bit, hopefully tiring them out before jumping onboard.
Once onboard babies must be strapped in for takeoff, landing, and during turbulence. Unfortunately this doesn’t include baby carriers. Feeding during these times is said to help little one’s ears adjust to altitude changes and generally keep them happier, but also consider headphones, tablets, or activity boards to keep youngsters focused.
If you’re travelling with a newborn or baby then bassinets are available on most airlines. These are to be requested with your flight booking due to limited availability. Our tip? Reach out to the selected airline for their dimensions as some babes are too big. Also there are limits to how many and where these can be placed in an aircraft, so parents of multiples (twins, triplets) may find they need to be seated in separate rows in order to have two bassinets.
Getting Around
Travel strollers are a fantastic way to get your littlies around a resort, and for some ages can double as seats at a table. They aren’t allowed in the onboard cabin so many airlines will ask you to check them in at the desk on arrival — we recommend getting your travel agent to check the dimensions and protocol with your chosen airline, as some will let you use it within the airport and then check it in at the departure gate!
While we are on the subject, it is worth investing in a pram fan when travelling to the South Pacific. The destinations can be hot and humid with air con limited or only in certain areas, so the fans help to cool the babes — and also double as a mosquito repellent!
If you’re travelling on the mainland in a car or bus then consider taking your child seat as a piece of checked luggage, or ask your travel agent about hiring one for your transportation in country. The hire may mean you have a different seat than you’re used to, but it is much more convenient and only incurs a small cost.
If you’re travelling out of the main land and to an outer island be mindful that there may be a boat trip required. These vessels won’t have child restraints so you may like to bring a baby carrier or use your stroller (depending on the size of the boat). Scheduled ferry services tend to utilise bigger vessels than private transfers and also access marinas and jettys as opposed to beach landings, so consider your preferences when booking transfer options too.
