We speculated before, but the four Ancient pilots really do represent our heroes. A soldier filled with love, a powerful warrior, a protégé/inventor, and a brave hero who inspired others.

And just like with Sonic, they were the Supreme's dearest friends. He sacrificed himself to protect them.

I've been working on a rough animatic inspired by Sonic Frontiers' Final Horizon update trailer in my spare time. Threw myself into this without a plan so we'll see where it goes!

Something interesting about Final Horizon

All of Sonic's friends nearly collapse upon interacting with the cyber-corruption once, even Knuckles. Really shows how much pain Sonic had to endure during Frontiers, and makes you wonder if he's used to smiling through intense pain.

Really cool! I fucking hate the flicky rescue challenges in cyberspace! I appreciate how everyone plays different despite some jank. I fucking hate platforming while carrying flickies. So far I'm having a good time. why does sonic keep walking when he picks up a flicky i fucking hate this. i really appreciate the fact that the platforming segments are way less automated now, Sonic feels like an actual platformer game with speed elements instead of just a simple rhythm section. Why does the timer continue to count down during the long ass start and finish animation for picking up and dropping off flickies i fucking hate the flickies. I can't wait to see how Kishimoto and co will apply what they learned in Frontiers to future games, Sonic as a franchise is in a really promising state. Fuck those stupid fucking flickies

now dont get me wrong, im sad that Cyber Sonic only existed for 20 seconds and is so situational that it'll likely never happen again. but also! that means we all get to Make Stuff Up about him! it's like Dark Sonic for a new generation, and i cant wait to see which headcanons stick in the fandom consciousness for years to come

This all put together sounds like each of their stories are happening after Sonic got fully corrupted. Knuckles' key line is a major hint to that. Amy is wondering about the Chaos Emeralds, where did they go after the last time he used them to unlock the towers? What happened to them? Sage is thinking of one unique possibility she didn't consider before, and throughout the game, she kept warning Sonic and trying to stop him and all her conclusions were the end of the world with no hope to save it.

And Tails... He's trying to interact with a cyberspace prison, he is outside a prison which is most probably holding someone but we cannot see who.

And Sonic's line indicates he said after they set him free, like he is trying to reassure them all after what they've been through. After what Tails has been through (jfjshxjfjcjjd screaming and crying and screeching at how he grabbed his hand with a caring firm support like saying I got you brother )

I have no idea how the story of Final Horizon will go but its name is hint enough of when it occurs. That brings me back to Tails. Unlike Knuckles and Amy who are fully back - which happened when Sonic freed them and got corrupted and lost to cyberspace in the process - Tails is glitching back and forth between being real and being cyber-imprisoned again. Why is he hurting himself with the same thing he was set free from?

To me it looks like Tails is the one trying the hardest to free Sonic, to bring back his brother at the expanse of his own safety.

They are so so alike, I can't ndjfjcjdcjjgjf *trails off in unintelligible wails*
