Big up to everyone who came out to Jack Rabbit last night! It was jam packed with local and national talent, incredible musicianship, breathtaking artistry, attentive bartenders, and a crowd ready to make this a special Saturday night in the 716! First, let’s recognize the band: @markmarinacciomusic on keys, @d_ray716 on drums, @danross_music on bass and guitar, and @kadeshflow joining on trombone. On short notice, this group learned a ton of original music, showed up, and showed out! You are the real MVPs! Second, I have to thank Kadesh Flow for traveling (flying) from Kansas City, MO to bring his unique brand and talent to the city of good neighbors. A couple of times, I watched up the crowds’ eyes light up; they were fully resonating with your art. Finishing with that Coolio tribute took everyone off guard! Legendary! Next, I want to show love to for the vocal accompaniment of @greeniesha , @imdavestewy , and @themdukezkargbo (Mad Dukez); you all put on a master class in rocking the crowd. I expect no less but somehow you add something new every time that completely enhances the experience. It’s an honor and pleasure to share the stage with you. Last but not least, we have to show love to @ceegee1990 (Cee Gee in the place to be)! Another amazing night in Charleston, SC! We had two shows, the first being @thegrilledcheeseshow , which is a video blog that features live music performances from touring artist around the country, and the second was at @tin_roof_charleston , where we joined two of Charleston’s best, @rememba_me and @biggxld , and did a bourbon tasting brought to you in part by @threechordbourbon . With their help, we’re making up ground on our tour budget, which fell deep in the red after just our second show in Rock Island, IL. As some of you already know, after the show, two teenagers stole our tour vehicle and wrecked it 4 mins from away from where they took it. Of course, the next day, after trying to tow the totaled car to a different destination to have it worked on and assessed by insurance, our other vehicle had electrical problems. Both vehicles were not drive-able. Thus, in this wild twist of fate, we were forced to rent two rental vehicles at probably the worst time to rent (prices to rent for the amount of days we needed cost us thousands of dollars to keep the tour going). Somehow, through the kindness of people who want to see us succeed and do what we love, we’ve continued and fought through the adversity. Tomorrow, we are in Richmond, Kentucky to play for Clark Moores Middle School at 9am, Caudill Middle School at 10:15am, and Madison Middle School at 1pm. Now, it’s time to give up the ghost! Last night was truly amazing on so many levels. I want to thank everyone who touched the stage last night and everyone who gave up their Saturday night to spend it with us: Dave Stewy, Ian Gabriel, Ziere Rodolph, and DaTrumpetman Virella! It was truly remarkable coming back to Richmond, KY and seeing how we were embraced. I want to shout out a couple of people: Susan Cintra, who is running for Senate; Paul Reed Jr, who has been a life-long friend of mine; Bob Wason, who I’ve known probably since I was in sixth grade; John Q Campbell, my brother and one of my best friends and most formidable role models growing up; Martina Jackson, of which who is doing God’s work in RKY and changing some of the parts of the community that have sorely needed change for so long; Mark Feather, who has welcomed us into his home and been so incredible through all these years (your friendship extends beyond words); and so many more names! Oh, and Colbert Gautreaux, I appreciate you, sir! I can’t leave you out! I’ll throw in a shout for the love of life, Chantal Michaux, also, who supports me and my dreams even they require great sacrifice. And while providing support and taking care of everything and everyone back home, she takes the time to book hotel rooms and talk me through my frustrations and anxieties as they arise.
