Allison wasn’t used to the quiet of being alone yet. No little footsteps running quickly across the floor above her. No bedtime stories or pleas for pancakes in the morning. She preferred it outside - the sound of the nighttime traffic down below her and the burn of the last gulp of amber whiskey from her glass. But she had to face the emptiness sooner or later. She spared one last glance at the moon before heading back inside, the balcony door sliding closed behind her, and she was met with silence once again.

The thump upstairs was amplified in the otherwise quiet house - dark hues quickly flickered in the direction. An overzealous fan, perhaps? It wouldn’t be the first time they’d found out where she lived and thought they’d ‘stop by for an autograph.’  But this late? “ Whoever’s up there - I heard that. ” She called out in warning toward the staircase. “ I really don’t want to call the cops out here at this time of night and you probably don’t want that either, huh? ”

     survivors guilt was something chris redfield had been saddled with for years now, ever since watching his men become monsters which he then had to slaughter himself. but that guilt only grew into a monster of its own when piers sacrificed himself in order to save chris and subsequently take down the bow named haos. after the events in china, chris had gone back to edonia, needing to escape back to the one place he’d been able to forget before.

     he had been in edonia, drinking his ways through the days for about six months now when someone knocked at the door to his crappy little motel room. chris looked wrung out -- he hadn’t slept properly in months and shaving on a regular basis had gone out the window around the same time. so when he opens the door, he’s sure that his mind has suddenly had him hallucinating. 

      chris blinks and rubs his eyes -- this can’t be real.

         “piers?” he utters, voice rough from disuse.

“C-come on Eds, I know you can huh-hit it no problem,” the auburn-haired boy encouraged with a sunny smile. It had been a while since he and Eddie hung out together by themselves and even though he had become used to having all the Losers around all the time, it was nice for it to just be the two of them. 

Bill had grabbed a glove, baseball bat and ball, shoving them all as well as he could into his backpack when he had biked over to the Kaspbrak home earlier that day to see if the smaller boy wanted to maybe hit the ball around for a bit. Luckily, he had agreed and so had his mother. 

That’s what brought them out to the empty diamond, no one wanting to be out practicing or playing in the heat allowing them to have it all to themselves. He was sure Eddie had objected in some way--- something about heatstroke?--- but Bill hadn’t paid it much mind. He worried too much. Besides, this was the fun summer stuff they were supposed to be doing, right? “You h-hit it hard enough ah-and you can get t-two bases easy. You’re, l-like, the fastest k-kid I know!” Even if he didn’t hit the ball as far as others, no one could catch Eddie once he got going.
