“The dark does not destroy the light; it defines it. It's our fear of the dark that casts our joy into the shadows.” #brenebrown Brown, 🌓 I just wanted to share THREE quick thoughts from the treatment room.... 🧞‍♀️ ONE. There is ALOT going on for EVERYONE right now. Mostly everyone coming in has feeling extremely overwhelmed, anxious, and in the unknown. We have our regular stressors and then have our additional covid-times stressors. TWO. You are stronger than you think! We are resilient and capable! We often don't know how strong or courageous we are until we are facing intense challenge. You will be surprised at how strong you are! THREE. You are not alone AND we need each other! Now more than ever It's important to receive support. Lean on your family, friends, practitioners, your community. We are here for each other. 🌻 As Summer gently turns to Late Summer - please prioritize self-care and be easy on yourself. For some practice tools, resources and to learn more about this time of year from a Chinese medicine perspective - Read my thoughts on Five Element Acupuncture & Late Summer. It’s at the wellness blog Link in bio. ❤️ #theresalotgoingon #youarestrongerthanyouthink #receive #recievesupport #love #earthelement #fiveelementacupuncture #acupunctureformentalhealth #mentalwellness #youarenotalone #youareloved (at Village Wellness) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDtMXJqjSat/?igshid=qmhq3252wowm

"The elements are alive in nature and they are also alive within us. Five Element acupuncture isn't about treating symptoms, rather I treat the underlying root cause of the symptoms for the specific individual, and then hopefully, the symptoms will begin to subside. In addition, and importantly, their whole system may come into greater harmony - they may experience a greater sense of well-being overall." // "There is an art and science to placing the needles - both the timing of when I needle certain points and also, the combination of different points that I treat." // "Each point has a 'spirit' or a 'gift', and once you've received the spirit of that point, it is always with you. You can call on it." // "The first treatment I offer someone is always gentle. I want to see how they respond to the treatment and how their energy moves. I also want them to feel in control and comfortable." // These are a few highlights from Melissa Farran's presentation at our Chicago training over the weekend. The quotes are based on my notes, so they are not completely perfect translations as I was often swept up in the content. The way Melissa teaches about and shares Five Element Acupuncture with clients, colleagues and others is poetic and impacting. Day 1 of the third trimester. Today we participated in a beautiful Needle Ceremony, in the tradition started by Dianne Connelly, to induct us into the next phase of our practitionership, where we learn to use our tools of the trade: our hands, the needles, moxa. Together we reflected on the healing power of touch, the gift of our hands expressing the love in our hearts, the connection that forms Body-Body, Mind-Mind, Spirit-Spirit, in every interaction between patient and practitioner. . "Take this needle as an instrument of love, and with it, serve life well.” . “Take this moxa as an instrument of healing, and with it, serve life well.” . “We serve life not because it is broken. We serve life because it is holy.” . As our teachers were setting up the altar, a fox ran across the field. Fox is great medicine: she stands between the worlds, at the threshold. . . . #muih #fiveelementacupuncture #acupunctureschool #chinesemedicine #toolsofthetrade #acupunctureneedles #moxa (at Maryland University of Integrative Health)

Recommendation for today. Go for a walk in the woods pick up some leaves and smell them or better yet kneel down and smell the earth. The Fall energy makes it easy to slow down and take stock of our lives. It is the perfect time to reflect on what no longer serves and feel into what is most precious. #fall #fiveelementacupuncture #metalelement #lettinggo #letgo #preciousmoments https://www.instagram.com/p/B4-DkaUjY3f/?igshid=xdno5mxmfrj1

A patient today was a little bummed out and not really feeling like herself. As part of our acupuncture treatment I did some powerful Earth elemental points to help nurture her and restore her center. I was relaying the qualities of the Late Summer... the sweetness, abundance, and nurturing that comes with this time of year, when I was reminded of the quote below from Winnie The Pooh. It exemplifies this mama Earth energy... and I couldn't wait to share it with everyone I know, including you! Nature is so full of this abundant, sweet, nourishing energy right now! If you are in need just remember, it is all around you, in the air, in the woods, in the sunlight! It ready to be taken in! Its the Piglet to your Pooh =) mmmmmm #fiveelementacupuncture #earthelement #latesummer #honey #sweetness #nurturing #abundance #winniethepooh #aamilne (at Berwyn, Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1OPD5sDGQB/?igshid=13yesl9pzmn7a
