no but honestly the body language in there is so symbolic.

in the first gif we see that ethan has his back turned when benji tries to reach out to him. at this point in their relationship, ethan doesn't really trust benji that much yet (in that it's not enough to let him in and see the real him that he keeps guarded at all times, at least) and therefore disregards benji's attempt to reach out, preferring instead to go accomplish the mission. their relationship was not developed enough at the time to warrant that kind of trust. also, at that point in the story, there was no time to have a moment with benji; ethan had to go into agent mode immediately. ethan didn't have the capacity to have that sort of moment with benji because their relationship hadn't been fully fledged out yet and there was a time constraint. benji also curls his hand into a fist, cheering ethan on, being concerned for him and not really holding it against ethan that he doesn't trust benji with the inner emotional stuff yet.

however, in the second gif, ethan is facing towards benji and they have their foreheads pressing together. this shows the development of their relationship. instead of rushing away for a time constraint (because im pretty sure there is one), ethan instead carved out time to spend a single moment--any moment--with benji. he is also facing towards benji and sharing close physical contact, representing a much deeper connection and need for that connection between them. ethan is allowing his vulnerability to show on his face, and benji is too. despite the horrors, they are drawing comfort from each other in an intrinsic way that intertwines them from the very deepest recesses of their selves, and the way they went from barely trusting to baring themselves wholly is so interesting and devastating to see, especially considering the circumstances of mi8.

guys. omegaverse where alphas are usually men and omegas are usually women. betas can be either. on the rare occasions that alphas are women and omegas are men they are discriminated against relentlessly. give me a maverick who is an omega and is bullied for it, especially when he first joins up, so he hides it and squashes his omega tendencies as far down as he can. he hates being an omega and tries (is mostly successful) as passing as an alpha. but after top gun, to soothe bradley (idk how guys) he lets his instincts take over sometimes. like roo is basically the only person he will show his omega side to.

this is prolly kinda unrelated but I do wanna add that it can be easy to kinda get sucked into a cycle of just consuming content and fan-made content, especially when there's so much to see. and so I wanna remind everyone to take a breath, maybe read fics a little slower, stop and contemplate and notice the details of the fanart a little slower. take some time to absorb the art and the fact that someone put a TON of time and effort into it. like, and reblog. leave kudos, and a comment. tell people that you appreciate their stuff bc believe me it really makes a huge difference

i think it might be lost on some good omens fans who've either never been in a fandom before, or have only been in very big fandoms for that matter, how truly lucky we are.

we have new fan content to see at any time of day or night, no matter what else is going on in the world. there is a constant, and i do mean constant stream of new art, new fics, new meta, new gifs, new shitposts, new discussions, new video edits, new links to other websites where those things also exist... one could scroll through good omens tumblr all day, every day, and they wouldn't run out of new things to look at, due to the rate at which things are being produced, and the number of people who are producing them (i say this as someone who basically did this while recovering from top surgery back in 2023, when season 2 had not long come out). it would take a person an awfully long time to see all the good omens fan content there is to see, and that's just on this one platform.

most fandoms, for active media or not, cannot relate to this phenomenon. it's crazy, in the most wonderful way. i think we are this way bc we truly do have great source material, shot and performed by brilliant people, and therefore it is the kind of source material that attracts passionate, analytical obsessives (this is a compliment to all of us, not an insult!).

there'll come a time after s3 when things will slow down, i know that. so i want us to all appreciate how much we have now. at least once a day i stop and think about how grateful i am that this fandom became part of my life, and i hope you have that inclination too, at least once in a while.<3

but this doesn't happen by magic. you need to reblog, not just like; comment, not just leave kudos; share and rec, not just enjoy independently. with fandom, you get what you put into it, and the more you get involved the more fulfilment you'll get out of it. trust me on that<3

Mav loves hugging ice. He's a very tactile kind of person.

Ice, on the other hand, is usually uncomfortable with touch unless it's people he's really close with. When he accepted Mav's hug, for the first time Mav was so overjoyed he felt like his heart would explode, and Ice felt warm, loved, and safe.

In the early days, it was Mav who initiated touch the most. Ice was scared of letting people into his heart. He made the mask of the Iceman to protect himself from being hurt by anyone (especially his shitty ass admiral dad) ever again, and to let that down was very scary for him because it was unfamiliar and sometimes he felt like he wasn't anybody without the Iceman. Mav and his hugs helped him learn that he didn't have to be closed off all the time--he could love and let himself be loved freely.

As old married men they both initiate lots of touch with each other and are almost disgustingly lovey dovey (because they were never able to express that earlier).

Mav finds a lot of comfort in being hugged by Ice because it makes him feel safe and loved as well. He never really got hugs growing up.
