Rough Ride - a McLennon song?
"Rough Ride" is a song from Paul's album, "Flowers In The Dirt" (1989).
Look at the lyrics:
I needed loving, needed a friend
I needed something that would be there in the end
This reminds me of John and Paul saying many times during Beatlemania that they're gonna write songs together forever.
On a rough ride to heaven
Want to get inside, what will I do?
On a rough ride to Heaven
I want to get inside to be with you.
Throughout the song, Paul expresses his desire to meet another person in Heaven and asks for help.
John was already dead by then. Paul had many difficulties with this relationship, not only was John insulting him in the early 1970s, but in the 1980s, after Lennon's death, many people argued that McCartney couldn't write songs and was unnecessary in The Beatles.
I think this song is for him, especially since "Flowers In The Dirt" has other McLennon songs ("This One", perhaps "My Brave Face").

Anybody want to see that flower shop fic from Paul’s point of view? More importantly… does anyone want to hear what his mate George has to say about it all?

Linda McCartney played on Paul's 1989 album Flowers in the Dirt (specifically the song Rough Ride). Producers Trevor Horn, Stephen Lipson, and Chris Hughes were completely besotted remember working with her:
Trevor Horn: The other thing that I remember about Rough Ride was that we brought Linda in and Linda played some really great synths. She came up with this idea for a mini-moog part. We really liked Linda. So I was pretty keen to get her on the record. She also seemed to have a really good influence on him. He really liked her, if you know what I mean. [I know] that’s a dumb thing to say, but he did. Sometimes you meet people who don’t like their wives, you know.
Stephen Lipson: She was wonderful; absolutely brilliant. I haven’t got a bad thought in my head about her. She was the best; so warm. She invited us into their lives in a really lovely way. And that was Rough Ride. And then we mixed it.
Chris Hughes: I got very close with Linda. She was great. I spent a lot of time with her, and both of them; just hanging out. The pair of them invited me around to their place and cooked supper and they were great. Linda, particularly, was wonderful.
Trevor Horn: What are my memories of it? My memories are of Linda. I’ve still got the photographs she took of me and Steve, I’ve got them up on the wall downstairs.

I would like to know what part from the song “Brave face” is Costello’s???
I’m almost finished with Paul’s tea, probably I’ll post in Tuesday or Wednesday 🫶.
My puppy is sick 🥲. I will not be posting tomorrow 😢.

By 1987, Paul McCartney's solo career was in the doledrums. The massive commercial and critical sucess of 1982's Tug of War was long gone, and the serial failures of the Give My Regards to Broad Street film and Press to Play album had him in a really rough spot.
It was in that scenario that, through the suggestion of his manager, he called up Elvis Costello and suggested the two collaborate on writing new songs. This collaboration blossomed into fourteen songs, and those fourteen songs into tentative album sessions.
However, when the first fruits of this collaboration came out, it was in separate Costello and McCartney albums. Those tentative studio sessions had hit a wall when the two couldn't agree on an approach, and both decided to record the songs to their own liking.
But what if the planned McCartney-Costello album had been released? Over at the Reconstructor, we tried to piece together the demos and get as close as possible to what this album could've looked like:
PAUL McCARTNEY AND ELVIS COSTELLO - FLOWERS IN THE DIRT (1987)
The Lovers That Never Were (Flowers in the Dirt)
Veronica (Spike)
Tommy's Coming Home (Flowers in the Dirt)
Twenty Fine Fingers (Flowers in the Dirt)
So Like Candy (Flowers in the Dirt)
You Want Her Too (Flowers in the Dirt)
Shallow Grave (Flowers in the Dirt)
Mistress and Maid (Flowers in the Dirt)
I Don't Want to Confess (Flowers in the Dirt)
That Day is Done (Flowers in the Dirt)
Don't Be Careless Love (Flowers in the Dirt)
My Brave Face (Flowers in the Dirt)
Pads, Paws and Claws (Spike)
From a Playboy to a Man (Flowers in the Dirt)
