Ojii here! With a mini review of a webcomic called Fools! We gotta get something out of the way first: If you’re looking for actual queer representation…. this is not it.. not in its entirety, at least. It does present itself as a more mature and steady read than say, 19 days, and it doesnt fall into the usual tropes of bl, but it still has some problematic scenes and tropes typical to bl (i.e. calling homosexuals disgusting i.e. supposed straight boy turning gay and being disgusted/weirded out with himself for a few scenes) but this is probably as close as it will get (for now, with koreas current social acceptance of lgbt) to queer representation that isnt overly targeted to a female audience (something I really think this webcomic does well is exactly that: it doesnt feel like it’s specifically for females to fetishize gay relationships). Another thing is the characters relationships are realistic, never straying from what would be considered normal interactions between nice people, and they are aware of gay relationships. One of the main characters is gay from the start and in a gay relationship, and has to deal with a bit of backlash and teasing from others (though it's not overly melodramatic in that aspect, which is good too). The characters are also likeable, which is probably because they aren’t super original or unique. They follow a pretty clear stencil for what two romance protagonists should be, but honestly, it’s not a bad thing in this webcomic, because it’s used wisely, and to its advantage as a slice-of-life, average-people-doing-average-things webcomic. So you guys, if you can get past the slight cultural homophobia in some scenes, Fools is actually a really good webcomic (and art style wise- it’s decent, focusing most of the detail and color on the two main characters). Fools is like, so good? The characters are so relatable, even the side characters. You can't even hate the love rivals? No one is treated as a villain. I mean the one guy's ex is like way too old for him, but even he has relatable motivations.

Granted, I'm about halfway through, but, like

It's so good.
