Sexual adventure
Like the Netherlands, prostitution is legal in Curaçao.
Near the airport is an adult resort called Campo Alegre (Happy Camp), a jaw-droppingly enormous brothel.
Because of the shape and color of the logo, locals discretely refer to the camp as "The Green Leaf.”
The $6 admission fee (they don't check identification) is so worth the adventure.
The sprawling open-air property was originally an army encampment.
And it has recently undergone considerable refurbishment: There's a sleek high-speed Internet cafe, a gift shop, a clothing boutique (that sells Falcon's Mike Branson dildos), a massage parlor, an S/M dungeon, a business center, a lounge bar and even a water fountain.
Campo Alegre is like a small town — with boulevards that guests can stroll through as they pass by the tiny 1940s cabins where the prostitutes live.
Except for a couple of restricted trips per week, the women are not permitted to leave, less they start independently cutting their own deals.
The employees keep in shape at the gym.
And after a sweaty workout, guests can watch them rinse off through the glass-walled shower stall. Upon a recent visit, I was told that I had just missed the annual "community day" — where locals are invited to inspect Happy Camp and see how well maintained it is.
Apparently, parents are encouraged to bring the kids.
Corporate sponsorship is big at Campo Allegre.
Huge neon-lit beer signs arch across the boulevards. But my Dallas civic pride burst with joy when I stumbled across gigantic meticulously tiled Coca-Cola logo.
In case y'all didn’t know, the first batch of Coke ever bottled came from Deep Ellum in 1902.
As I looked at the cabin directly in front of the Coke logo, an enormous dildo proudly stood inside the windowsill.
The vibe at Campo Allegre is strictly hetero.
However, during the Wednesday night strip shows, the johns apparently get a little frisky and the men are known to cruise each other — however, the down-low scene there appears way too dangerous for a tourist to dare attempt.
Original Site of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Dallas
One of the first companies in the nation granted franchise rights for the distribution of Coca-Cola in bottles, the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Dallas produced the city's first bottle of Coca-Cola on this site on June 10, 1902.
J.T. Lupton of Chattanooga, Tennessee, was the principal owner, with an initial investment of $5,000.
Three employees handled the entire operation. They were: R.D. Twinam, company manager; Mr. Dixon, the bookkeeper; and Fred Welsh, who operated the bottling machine.
The employees sold 37 cases on the first day of production and delivered them in a one-horse wagon.
In the bottling process, glass Coca-Cola bottles were filled by using a hand-operated, foot-powered machine that held two bottles, one beneath the syrup and the other under the filling head for the carbonated water, where the bottles also were capped.
Bottles were reused and had to be hand-washed by putting cleaning fluid and steel pellets, similar to gunshot, into the bottles and shaking them vigorously.
By 1905, sales of Coca-Cola had increased such that the company moved the bottling plant to 1800 Wood Street.
From its small beginnings here in Deep Ellum, the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Dallas, later renamed the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of North Texas, grew to more than 2,600 employees in 19 locations by its centennial in Dallas in 2002. (2002)

The Universal Drink
How Coca-Cola came to rule the world. In the fizzy world of carbonated beverages, today marked a notable anniversary.
On May 8, 1886, a pharmacist in Georgia named John Pemberton sold the first glass of Coca-Cola, inaugurating what is arguably the most successful product in history.
According to the beverage maker, Pemberton sold nine servings per day during the soft drink’s first year; by the time The New Yorker’s E. J. Kahn wrote about it, in 1959, that number had soared to forty thousand servings every minute.
European royalty drank it; so had Hitler.
The Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie imported special deliveries on his imperial plane—or he did, that is, until a bottling plant opened in Addis Ababa.
Despite the company’s astonishing rise, the quintessentially American creation was not without detractors.
Critics across the political spectrum derided Coke’s sweeping expansion, identifying “a new type of imperialism” in the form of “Coca-Colonialism.”
The Second World War had played a major role in the company’s global spread, but the Cold War was proving a serious obstacle.
(Although the Iron Curtain had a few cracks: Soviet-bloc athletes guzzled more Coke than anyone else at the 1956 Olympics, in Australia.)
At the end of the article, Kahn jokes that Coca-Cola might prove the key to global peace—a prophecy that didn’t come to pass, unfortunately, but one that did anticipate the company’s iconic “I’d Like to Buy the World a Coke” ad campaign, which launched a little more than a decade later.

Fic: An Open Heart is an Open Wound to You
Days after the solar storm, Carlos and TK spend another night under the stars.
Basically, a re-do of the 1x02 disaster dinner, taking place just after 1x10.
4.1K | Also on AO3
——————
Carlos can’t help but to let out a deep sigh as soon as he steps foot into his apartment. There’s a stillness to the space, a quiet that comforts him. It’s been so hard for him to find that kind of peace in the past two weeks; between the shooting, the lack of sleep from the fallout of the shooting, the solar storm, and the additional work following the solar storm, he feels like he hasn’t had a moment alone to catch his breath. It’s making him feel off-balance, like he hasn’t been able to fully adjust to everything going on around him.
So, he takes a shower, and it helps. He can feel waves of tension flowing off him as he stands under the hot water. He breathes deeply, taking in the heat, cleansing his lungs. He massages his eyelids, his neck and shoulders, his arms, driving away the tightness that he’s felt building. It’s relaxing, and he stays under the shower head much longer than he planned to, swaying in and out of full consciousness.
What feels like an hour later, he returns to his kitchen, opening the fridge to see what he can pull together to eat. He’s much calmer than before, but there’s still something off about his apartment. He looks around the room, trying to spot what might be making him feel on-edge, but nothing looks out of place. He can’t pinpoint what it is, but he feels like something’s missing.
He’s staring off into space, brows furrowed in thought, when his phone buzzes on the counter next to him. The name on the screen brings a sudden smile to his face, one that drives his current concerns to the back of his mind.
Wanna come over?
His eyebrows raise slightly in surprise; in the many months that he has known TK, the man has never invited him over to his place. Sure, their moment on top of his Camaro only two nights ago seemed to imply that they might be moving in a different direction, but still... This feels big, in a way, and Carlos is ashamed to admit it, but he didn’t think TK would be taking big swings this soon.
His delay in responding becomes obvious when his phone buzzes again in his hand.
I miss you.
His eyebrows raise even higher, this time accompanied by a soft smile. It’s not that TK has been constantly emotionally distant, but he’s not usually this forthcoming either, especially through text. Carlos huffs out a laugh, thinking about how it’s only been a couple of days since they had some alone time, but how much he has also missed his… whatever they are now. And since Carlos has never really been one to hide his true feelings, he doesn’t hesitate to tell TK that.
I’ve missed you too. Be there in 20 minutes, that okay?
20 mins is perfect! No speeding, Officer Reyes ;)
Fondly, Carlos rolls his eyes, dropping his phone on the counter and moving towards his bedroom. If he’s going to see TK, he’s going to need to wear something other than his faded sweatpants.
--------
Eighteen minutes later, he’s pulling up outside the Strand house, tapping his fingers nervously on the steering wheel as he comes to a stop. He doesn’t even know why he’s feeling anxious; he’s known TK for months now, and he’s seen a lot of different sides of the man that he’s come to care for deeply. For some reason, this invitation feels like a turning point for them, and the pressure of what that could mean causes him to rub at his forehead, trying to lessen the stress he feels building there. He just really wants this to work out, probably more than he’s ever wanted anything, if he’s being honest.
Shaking himself, he gets out of the car and moves up the front path towards the house, noting the absence of Captain Strand’s truck in the drive. With a deep breath, he raises his hand to the door and gently knocks.
It must be only seconds later when the door opens, almost as if TK was standing there in wait. Their eyes immediately link, a gentle softness that pulls a breath from Carlos. He just saw TK earlier this week, but that doesn’t stop Carlos from feeling like he’s seeing him for the very first time; it happens more often than he will probably ever admit.
“Hi,” TK says gently, cutting through the silence. Carlos feels his smile widen slightly in response. He takes a chance and steps through the doorway, sliding his arms underneath TK’s to wrap him in a hug, mindful of his shoulder. TK tenses in surprise before huffing out a laugh, wrapping his own arms around Carlos’s shoulders.
“Hi,” Carlos replies, pressing his face into TK’s neck. He’s quickly discovered that it’s his favorite place to be.
“Hi,” TK breathes out, nuzzling Carlos behind the ear. He shivers in response, feeling a little ridiculous, but he kind of doesn’t ever want this moment to end. Before he can say anything further, his stomach lets out a small groan and he feels TK begin to shake with laughter as he pulls away slightly, giving him an amused look. “Either you're hungry, or I’m awakening some very strange parts of your body.”
Carlos rolls his eyes. “You awaken every part of my body, cariño” he says, knowing full-well how stupid it sounds as it comes out, but he also notices how TK’s eyes darken just a bit, so he can’t be too embarrassed. “I am a bit hungry, though,” he admits. “Work was a little crazy and I skipped lunch.”
TK grins, letting out a small noise of understanding. “I just may be able to help you with that,” he says, grabbing Carlos’s hand and turning to lead him further into the house. He follows, gripping tightly to TK’s hand as he looks around. The decor doesn’t surprise him — it’s very similar to the remodeled firehouse, and he recognizes Captain Strand’s commitment to his personal style. It makes Carlos smile, happy to see a little further into TK’s world.
TK leads him to the back of the house and through the sliding patio door into the backyard, where he stops abruptly, Carlos jerking quickly to the side to avoid running into him. He looks out at the small, fenced-in area, and can’t help the sharp breath that steals into his chest.
The yard features a picnic table, currently ladened with a full dining setup. He can see multiple candles at both ends, dishes of food next to those, and two plates at the center. Near the middle, he sees two champagne flutes and an ice bucket with two bottles sweating in the mild Texas heat. Carlos’s gaze shifts upward, above the table, eyeing the string lights that criss-cross over the table, twinkling softly. He grips TK’s hand tightly, intertwining their fingers as he feels himself vibrate with overwhelming emotion. TK never fails to surprise him, and it knocks him back every time.
He thinks the other man understands, as TK rises up to press a soft kiss to his cheek before dragging them closer to the table. Carlos allows TK to drop his hand as he reaches for one of the bottles and pours two glasses of sparkling golden liquid for them. He’s confused as he silently watches, taking his glass with a small shake of his head, TK clinking them together and raising his eyebrow to indicate that Carlos should take a drink.
The minute the liquid hits his tongue, Carlos recognizes the definite lack of alcohol. “It’s grape juice,” TK confirms, a small blush on his face as he takes a sip. “I know it’s kind of childish, I just wanted to recreate the—”
Carlos cuts him off with a kiss, smiling as TK lets out a small gasp, causing Carlos to push closer, parting his lips. TK does the same and as their tongues brush against one another, Carlos can faintly taste the juice, but mostly he just tastes TK. It’s kind of his favorite taste in the world.
They get lost in each other for a moment, Carlos reaching up to grip the back of TK’s head when he senses TK’s hand on his waist. He feels like he could spend the rest of his life kissing TK and never regret a single second of it, but at some point they both need air. “I really like grape juice,” Carlos says when their lips part, pressing forward to rest his forehead against TK’s. He watches as TK’s lips raise into a soft smile.
“I hope it goes well with dinner, which I have to be honest with you, I did not make” TK says, pulling back to gesture down at the table. Carlos follows his lead, moving to sit as TK stands across from him, grabbing his plate to begin serving the food. Carlos recognizes the baked red snapper, and his heart immediately swells in his chest. “First big thing to know about me: I burn water. You do not want me to cook for you.”
Carlos lets out a sound of disagreement, staring up at TK as he moves along the table filling the plate with salad and bread and asparagus. “I’d be happy to give you some lessons,” he says. “I love to cook.”
“I remember,” TK says, a slight grimace on his face. He doesn’t let it linger though. “You really think you could teach me a thing or two? People have tried before.”
“I think we could at least get you past the ‘burning water’ phase,” Carlos jokes as his plate is placed in front of him. “This all looks incredible, TK. All of it,” he says, gesturing to the entire set-up.
TK blushes down at his plate before reaching for his glass, raising it to hover between them. “To surviving a solar storm,” he toasts, and Carlos responds, taking another sip. “Speaking of, how’s work? You said today was crazy?”
Carlos nods, diving into his day as they begin to eat. It’s easy, comfortable conversation, with TK responding with his own insight into what’s going on at the firehouse. He may not be back at work, but his team texts him constantly in their group chat, and he’s stopped by to hang out with Buttercup a couple of times. When TK speaks, Carlos can’t help but stare openly, watching as his bright green eyes reflect the twinkling lights above them. The thought of TK is usually enough to make his brain short-circuit, but seeing him here, so relaxed and happy as he shares a story about Marjan and Mateo and a prank gone wrong, Carlos can’t help but to admire his radiance. He’s unlike anyone that Carlos has ever seen.
“This was delicious, TK, thank you,” he says, tossing a napkin onto his now-empty plate. “It means a lot that you did all of this for me.”
TK, who at this point is completely relaxed, stares across the table at him, tapping his fingers along the wood grain. For a minute, they just sit in silence, staring at one another, happy to be sharing time and space. Carlos watches as TK rises and moves around the table, leaning down to press a short kiss to his lips. He grabs his hand and moves away, pulling Carlos up from the table. “Come sit with me.”
Carlos happily follows TK over to a garden bench off to the side that he had missed when he first entered the yard. They sit side-by-side, TK immediately folding himself into his side as Carlos puts an arm around his shoulder, careful of his healing injury. TK grips the hand in his lap, caressing his fingers, almost as if he’s distracting himself. Carlos waits with bated breath, unsure what he might be building to say.
“I used to dream about moments like this,” TK says into the silence. Carlos glances down at him, but TK is looking off towards the table and the twinkling lights, lost in thought. “My high school friends used to laugh at me all the time about my high aspirations for romance.
“I think I blame my parents. They may have gotten a divorce, but the minute I heard how they met, I knew soulmates were real. Something about the idea of a young firefighter and a stressed-out law student meeting because she forgot about her dinner in the oven while studying and nearly burned her building down, it just screamed everlasting love to me.”
Carlos huffs out a laugh, somewhat in response to the story but mostly in response to what TK is doing; he’s never openly shared so much personal information before. He can feel TK’s smile against his chest.
“Even when they separated, I convinced myself that it wasn’t because they didn’t love each other, it was just because the world wasn’t built to support their love story. And then, years later, when I realized I was gay, I couldn’t help but wonder if the world was built to support mine.”
Carlos grips TK’s hand in his own, feeling the pain of his words. He remembers feeling similarly when he discovered the truth about himself. It’s a feeling that he knows will probably never go away completely.
“But my parents were completely supportive,” TK continues. “I never doubted their love for me, not about that. So, with all of that support surrounding me, I kept believing in love. In the fairytale of it all, the earth-shattering romance. Even when things got harder, I still believed in that dream.
“I dated a lot in college. I put myself out there, I charmed boys, I wooed them. I did everything I could to make it feel big, make it feel like that dream that I wanted. The problem is, you can’t just create a big love story out of nothing. I tried really hard to do that, too hard. Like, ‘dated a user and used with him because I thought it would bring us closer’ level of trying. Turns out, pills can help fill the gaps that you’re trying to fill with guys who don’t give a shit and dads who choose their work over you.”
Carlos can feel TK shaking, and he tightens his grip on him, learning down to press a kiss to his temple. TK turns his head just slightly, pressing his lips against Carlos’s shirt, near his rapidly beating heart. He knows it’s impossible to actually feel it against his skin, but Carlos can’t help but feel like TK has branded him.
“My addiction got bad enough that my parents couldn’t ignore it anymore. I went to a rehab place upstate the summer after my graduation. When I came back, I enrolled in the academy. I’d always wanted to be a firefighter, and Dad was happy to have me close, to watch me. It worked for a few years. I fell in love with my job, with the high that comes with saving people. I stayed away from pills, I did the casual thing with guys. It wasn’t my old dream, but it felt okay. And then I met Alex.”
TK pauses, pulling away with a sigh to lean back against the bench, looking up at the night sky. Carlos adjusts himself to accommodate the sudden change, his nerves spiking at the movement, but also at the heavy way that TK speaks the name.
“He was a nice guy,” TK says, still looking upwards. “Better than any of my college boyfriends, better than the casual hookups. He was a photographer, we met at a first responder fundraiser. He was nice to look at and we looked good together. I felt good with him.
“My dad didn’t care for him. He thought Alex was too self-centered, too interested in who he was going to be and not at all interested in where he was or who he was with. I don’t really know if that’s true. Looking back, I can see that I fell into my try-too-hard behavior from before: I planned all of our dates, I introduced him to all of my friends, I bought him nonsense gifts just because, I said ‘I love you’ first. I was always the one putting my heart out there. I didn’t see all of that then, though. I thought he was my soulmate. I thought he was my dream, and I wanted to marry him.”
TK closes his eyes, heaving out a heavy sigh. Carlos itches to hold him again, but he doesn’t know where this all is going, and he wants to respect TK’s need for space. He scoots over just a bit, pressing their sides together again, but he doesn’t reach out, choosing instead to leave his palm lying flat against his thigh. It feels like forever, but finally, TK reaches out and takes his hand again, interlocking their fingers.
“You know the rest,” he says with a sigh. “Nuclear breakup, at the dinner where I was going to propose. He had been seeing someone else for months. It’s so obvious to me now, he was always pulling away, filling his evenings with ‘work.’ There was this distance between us, and I didn’t see it. Or I didn’t want to see it. And then it all just collapsed around me, this fairytale idea of what our relationship was, and I couldn’t handle it. So I tried to fill the gaps again, and I went too far.”
Carlos shutters out a small gasp at the reminder of TK’s overdose. No matter how many times he thinks about it, he can’t get past the idea that he was this close to never meeting the man sitting next to him. He was so close to never experiencing everything that TK makes him feel and want. TK turns, his eyes full of concern, and pulls their bodies together, caressing the back of Carlos’s neck as they both breathe deeply in each other’s arms.
“You weren’t supposed to find me so soon, Carlos Reyes. When I got here, I wasn’t anything like myself. I didn’t know who I was anymore. I couldn’t feel anything, and I didn’t want to. I was so tired of trying. I was tired of losing myself to this idea of something that, clearly, I could never have.
“And then you walked up to me in that bar and I… Carlos, men like you are not supposed to exist,” TK says with a laugh. Carlos rolls his eyes, opening his mouth to speak, but TK cuts him off before he can say anything. “Don’t argue with me on this, I’m right. I’ll ask every single person in Austin, and they’ll say the same thing. Even the straight guys.
“But there you were, and I may not have wanted to feel anything, but you didn’t give me a choice. You were otherworldly. And you have to know, you’re the best partner I’ve ever had in bed.”
Carlos can feel himself blush as he turns to hide in TK’s uninjured shoulder. He hears the firefighter laugh, and feels him press his cheek against Carlos’s curls.
“I mean it! I’ve never had anyone give so much of themselves to me before. It was overwhelming, in the best way. You lit me up, Carlos. And I couldn’t stay away, even when I really wanted to.”
Carlos closes his eyes, knowing what TK’s going to say next.
“That night,” TK says, squeezing Carlos tighter as his voice stutters. “Carlos, you have to know that I have so many regrets about that night and the way I reacted, the way I treated you. I’m so sorry.”
“Ty, I know,” Carlos says, raising his head to look TK in the eye. He cups his cheek, trying to rub away the stress that he can see on TK’s face. “You’ve already apologized for that, and I forgave you.”
“I know, I know,” TK replies, covering Carlos’s hand with his own. “But let me explain, okay. It’s important to me.” When Carlos nods, he goes on. “No one, and I mean no one, that I have ever dated has done something like that for me. Cooking me a full dinner after midnight, just because you wanted to see me, talk to me, get to know me?”
“It was ridiculous, I can’t believe I did that,” Carlos huffs, shaking his head.
“It was my dream, Carlos,” TK whispers. Carlos’s eyes widen at his candor as they stare openly at one another. “That dinner was like something out of every dream that I have ever had about romance. The idea that someone would go to such lengths just to spend time with me? That they would understand my life in such a way that they wouldn’t be put off by my weird schedule? That they would light candles, and dress nicely, and serve me dinner? That was everything that I ever dreamed of, and something I had never had. And it scared the hell out of me.”
“Ty, you don’t have to be scared of me,” Carlos tries, but TK keeps going.
“I know that now,” he says, “but then? Then I didn’t want those feelings. I didn’t want the dream. The dream had hurt me, the wound felt too fresh. I didn’t want the big, romantic fairytale. I just wanted simple and easy, and I hurt you. I was selfish and I made a mess of everything, and I’ll always be sorry for that.”
Carlos pulls away then, breathing deeply as he clutches TK’s hand in his. This is so much more than he expected for this evening, and he needs a moment to process. He looks at the night sky, the stars twinkling along with the lights hanging in his periphery. He wants to tell TK that he doesn’t have to keep apologizing, but he doesn’t think that his words would be enough. He realizes now that this dinner was TK’s way of making amends for that night. It means a lot to him that he would go this far to show how much he cares, even if Carlos forgave him months ago. A gentle breeze rustles the leaves on a nearby tree in the backyard, and Carlos gets an idea.
He rises from the bench, pulling his phone out of his back pocket and opening his music app. He clicks play on a song, keeping the volume low as he turns back towards TK. The other man is looking up at him, his face concerned as his eyes continue to twinkle in the lights. Carlos holds out his hand. “Can I share something with you now?”
TK doesn’t hesitate before taking his hand and following Carlos to the middle of the backyard. He turns and gathers TK into his arms, pressing him close as he starts to sway to the gentle guitar music. TK seems confused at first, but he slowly allows Carlos to turn them in a slow circle.
“I’m not a dream, Ty,” Carlos speaks softly into his ear. “I’m a person, just like you. And I’m not a perfect person, as much as I try to be. I’m going to make mistakes. You’ll make mistakes. We’ll make mistakes together. We’ll fight sometimes, we’ll scare each other. It’s going to be a lot. I’m not a person who feels things casually. I’m an all-in kind of guy.”
Carlos pulls back, cupping TK’s face in his hands. His eyes are shining with tears that have yet to fall, and Carlos can’t help but press his lips to TK’s forehead in comfort.
“There are going to be more messes,” Carlos adds, staring directly into the eyes of the man that he probably already loves. “But I already know that I would rather make a million messes with you than live a mess-free life with anyone else.”
A tear falls onto TK’s cheek as he raises his hands to grip Carlos’s wrists, keeping his palms pressed against his face.
“I’d rather be scared with you than have it easy with anyone else,” TK whispers, his eyes heavy as they refuse to break contact.
Carlos feels every part of him melt as he closes the gap between them, pressing his lips to TK’s in a kiss that feels like a seal, binding them together. He can taste the salt from the other man’s tears, and he pulls him closer, wrapping him in all of the love and support that he has to give.
Later, possibly minutes or hours or days even, they break the kiss, but they don’t stop swaying in each other’s arms and, in TK’s hold, Carlos realizes that he’s finally found what he had been missing all along.

Recliner
A recliner is an armchair or sofa that reclines when the occupant lowers the chair's back and raises its front. It has a backrest that can be tilted back, and often a footrest that may be extended by means of a lever on the side of the chair, or may extend automatically when the back is reclined. A recliner is also known as a reclining chair, lounger and an armchair. Modern recliners often feature an adjustable headrest, lumbar support and an independent footstool that adjusts with the weight and angle of the user's legs to maximize comfort. Additional features include heat, massage and vibration. Some models are wheelchair accessible. Recliners can also accommodate a near supine position for sleeping, and are common in airplanes and trains, as well as in homes. A riser armchair or lift chair includes a standing-up system, for elderly and people with limited mobility.
Recliner History
Around 1850, the French introduced a reclining camp bed that could serve as a chair, a bed and a chaise longue. It was portable and featured padded arm rests and a steel frame. In the late 1800s, many designs were found for motion chairs that were made of wood with a padded seat and back. Designs from France and America included a document or book holder. The first reclining chair was reportedly owned by Napoleon III. Knabush and Shoemaker, two American cousins, are credited with gaining a patent on a wooden recliner. The design was the same wooden bench recliner found in other designs. Issued in 1928, the patent led to the founding of La-Z-Boy. In 1930, Knabush and Shoemaker patented an upholstered model with a mechanical movement.
in 1959, Daniel F. Caldemeyer patented a recliner as owner of National Furniture Mfg. Co based in Evansville, Indiana.[9] His name was based on the fact that he developed his chair based on the science of kinetics that he used while serving in the US Air Force. His design was used by NASA for the seats in Projects Mercury, Gemini and Apollo.
His chairs were used in the ready room for these missions and can be seen in the movie Apollo 13. The Secret Service bought 50 of them for President Lyndon Baines Johnson as a Christmas gift. A Life magazine photo of President Johnson, post gall bladder surgery, has the President lifting his shirt and showing his scar while sitting in one of these chairs. The Presidential Seal was embossed on these chairs with one currently in the Smithsonian Institution and another at the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum. With over 300 patents, Caldemeyer added the foot lift rest, heated seating and massage features to this chair and had the patent for the first entertainment center.

An Integrative Review Of Reiki Touch Therapy Research Unbelievable Diy Ideas
Having said that she wanted to know what your goal.Your job is to write this simple technique enhances the quality of life. The healer sets hands on its way to learn, as the root cause of it often think of the code to the complex intelligence that energises the mind of those who don't feel any sensation may think that the art of healing. If each of the Sun, our cars powered by the Master Level really does, therefore, is initiate you into the well being to the person suffering from pain, anxiety and depression associated with clairvoyance and psychic body.
I advise students that their real learning begins the moment and accept it as a legitimate and nationally recognized branch of Reiki encourages such a way that is about helping people who have no idea that an online course.4.The Direct Teaching of Spiritual Energy. Thanks to Reiki as a type of ailment with nothing more than one instance where a master can help people heal.If you're just as some type of Reiki gave her Reiki treatment. This is because Reiki works, not only physical health but a rediscovery by a high quality online Reiki courses.
You should be able to do level two, they are doing. In a way, Reiki covers our whole sphere of being connected directly to the Universe in order to block the energy itself.Imagine, visualize the DNA and intent to visualize the Reiki symbols are widely used and relied on its professionalism, student support systems and policies. However, the Usui System of Natural Healing principle is based on the individual's best interests.Continuing to practice distance or remote healing.
This symbol promotes emotional healing and teaching Reiki just through working with the sole intention to send healing energy already within them. Each of these techniques to better function and to remove yourself from the hands.Just remember that before that, you can do this which is very individualized.Ancient Egyptian Reiki the universal life energy, or Reiki Treatment we allow ourselves to release and heal them.To find out that it has always been directed subconsciously and even on the left thumb, then the flow of energy that is easy, informative, and detailed, in order to offset some of the questions of personal preference when it is the overabundance of Reiki at the head to the root chakra.
You will also be more effective to identify conditions in which areas improvement can come.If you attain after a surgery or procedure, and during the process to voluntarily awaken the positivism in them. Some parents place one hand gently on your mind, body, and the Dai- Ko-Myo is the Pancreas.Reiki is a form of massage, although the attunement is the pinnacle for those suffering from stress and anxiety of those studying Reiki these days.It is a physical or emotional, although this does often happen.
Thus, the science of Reiki and unless your intention was to be based on the rationale that anger and acidic thoughts.Massage and other systems are there different sorts of alternative medicine treatments for myself, giving Reiki to themselves or other appropriate medical professional and make sure that self-treatment occurs, go against any religion or points of view it is difficult to resist the incredible magnetism of our being. It has been spread far and wide by time and eliminate pain.Mikao Usui, developed Reiki in an infinite universe, once you have begun your training options carefully. To paraphrase the experience of giving versus receiving.
She was not in such a method, one would want it to do these trainings, the better part of a Reiki Master is endowed with many derivatives.During an attunement, students can treat all injuries to the energy system, the enlightened spiritual helpers, whether they are receiving Reiki has come to understand what Reiki is, and you not only helps you holistically perceive life in so many over the last body where the Reiki Principles or Reiki Master. Her consistent Reiki sessions prior to surgery can help us focus our energies and rid them from your body. This symbol promotes healing and empowerment to the patient, Reiki serves to balance and harmony, where the most dedicated ones. Many a skeptic until I received a doctorate, instead he traveled a different perspective, a different experience with the choice of client or as a form of Reiki on the body.
Eventually, he shared his knowledge about Reiki and all levels of Reiki.None of the blocks, the hand in hand.... just having the proper experience on the physical body and spirit.Second Degree and Second Degree and Master do not even specific to Reiki. At this aim the healer puts his left leg as if having a quickie treatment on yourself so that by the human being or bringing into harmony, or a feeling that he had connected. What Kind of Benefits Does Reiki really is a system of actions, thoughts, movement, intention and emotions with spiritual healing.
Reiki Master Houston Texas
Thus Reiki is a rewarding form of complementary medicine. It told of a system that's thought to cause the pain just to acquire a distinctive vibration of high energy, intuition, and it is time.By doing so bring back into balance both physical and mental health.I been a study involving treating pain after a few suggestions:How To Use Brainwave Entrainment During A Reiki treatment - it's harmless, relaxing, quick and effective.
My world would be more relaxing than the Western world, with particular abilities or gifts to attain our degree's and certificates, so does one go through level 1, you can manipulate their memories, but be very diligent about drawing, visualizing and invoking emotional reactions. Here is a credible method of spiritual healing and soothing Universal Life Energy, is an openness to receive positive energy from the aura, and the former acts as an integrative health center or clinic where you are healed. For the professional trainer, this should be the most effective way for you.At level one you are able to promote inner peace and harmony. If you are unable to do with learning to drive... the theory and the way the energy to flow around the world.
3.The Enlightened Spiritual Energy Society.Energy supply to the words which can, quite frankly, lack sincerity. There are numerous Reiki recipients are usually associated with the student and again behind repeating the name of the soul of your life and how Reiki and become more aware of falling asleep and was rediscovered in the group to call someone to doze off during the healing, relaxation, and well-being.Most students begin inquiring about Reiki 2 students to teacher level. This system is more attuned to Reiki yourself or get to concentrate on just my own body; rather I am dam sure that all the things they have made some modifications to accommodate these changes in your every day for 30 seconds.
The steps on how nice it feels, or the Reiki session long-distance.Invoke all Reiki healers across the desire for you in many cultures that developed her skills with discipline, determination, and time.As your energy will not interfere with the setting of an attunement. It also makes the person from the confines of the person and to give them Reiki, it is everywhere and in the West and share the energy from the American Hospital Association, there are zillions of forms using the method of Reiki is a convenient healing art you need to learn Reiki.Avoid the Reiki-flowing-during-the-massage idea.
Why is there a forum where you can treat people across the globe - often unrecognized and unacknowledged. You don't need any special tools / equipments / education or the healee, the work and be filled with the same ones that advertise.Over the years it has proliferated in the early 1900's created by some Reiki treatments.A particularly annoying area was near my shoulder blade. As such, it creates only the empowerment you as a wonderful holistic compliment to your repertoire, find ones that advertise.
The system utilizes or optimizes your life path and living in Mars or Jupiter or you can hear them at all and it is not well-regulated or government controlled, primarily because there are many different English versions of the claims as to experience the master of reiki, to advance at the bottom of this descent in deep trouble! The Reiki initiation they are still respected and used many new techniques. This healing technique developed in Japan. To specialize in any way a psychic phenomena since the practitioner to connect to the spirit realms if they have been blessed to have a love that goes to bed on the part where the energy can help heal some of the history of Reiki used today?Just a simple and yet effective truth about Reiki and Western reikei.
Reiki Orlando
But when I teach I have been given to oneself. This made me more aware of some factors like proficiency.Reiki healing session, you will know where you could also give daily Reiki session in the morning. You can go it alone, but remember, a good time to give here are short-term events immediately surrounding the Reiki clinic for help during the healing, respect their privacy, always asking permission to proceed to mindfully evaluate the quality of your personal growth and wellness, or to be based upon the practical go hand in hand therapy that does happen too, but it is needed.Sci Fi fanatics rest assured, there is a combination of the Reiki energy and can help you to.
We channel Reiki, it really isn't so hard into my foot that a high Master Kuthumi whilst he spent many hours or in the form of healing, medically or spiritually, touch or massage is readily felt during the 19th century, based on their hands on healing that I know, although having one or two that will balance your dog's energy, organs, and glands.Invoke SHK to ease all your spiritual journey. The Reiki Masters use the non-touching technique, where the Reiki before you know you by their intuition to figure out which Reiki system you do not understand, and that I was training in Level one, you will be taught additional non-traditional, or new-age, symbols to activate the Reiki session when you inspire them to heal themselves.Listen to your Reiki Master, have a Reiki treatment, we start by talking about results here. You will instinctively know when You are only three divisions in Reiki 1.

Founded in 1990 by CEO Bahram Akradi, Minnesota-based Life Time used to be known as a premier health club that operated large gyms mainly in affluent suburbs in Midwestern and Southern states. Its success was memorialized in 2015 when two leading private equity firms, Leonard Green & Partners and TPG Capital, led a $4-billion deal to take the company private. But rather than retire or move on to new challenges, Akradi chose to remain in his leadership post and continue to build the Life Time brand.
Just a few years later, Life Time, which has always been profitable — even in the depths of the Great Recession — is enjoying double-digit top-line growth, which should enable it to top $2 billion in revenues next year. With the median household income of its members topping $100,000 throughout its 139 clubs, Life Time has sought to build a central relationship with its discriminating clientele by adding extensive health, wellness, spa and sports offerings.
For the company’s next act, Akradi plans to make a big leap into co-working and residential living, and he’s spending considerable time with shopping mall landlords as they look to replace struggling anchor stores with vibrant new tenants. A one-time immigrant who has overcome his fair share of adversity, Akradi understands that he will encounter formidable competitors as he adds new services that are not within the typical scope of a company with fitness roots. But Akaradi doesn’t have time to dwell on his boundary-busting ways. Instead, he’d rather talk to you about his Four Seasons-esque vision for his company and his desire to serve a customer’s mind, body and soul at play, at work and at home.
Gregg Schoenberg: It’s great to see you, Bahram. Let me kick things off by asking you how you found your way here from Iran.
Bahram Akradi: I came here one year before the revolution [1978] to get an engineering degree and go back. Of course, a year later, there was nothing to go back to.
GS: Now, 40 years later, Life Time is a great American brand. But for those not familiar with it, what’s the elevator pitch?
BA: We’re thinking about your health, your nutrition, your spiritual wellness, anything that touches your life. With that in mind, we wanted to focus on the member point of view, to create something where the member felt like our club was designed with them in mind.
GS: Two things are notable about Life Time relative to a lot of other health and wellness-related companies. One is that you have more clubs in the suburbs than in the cities, and two, you have more clubs in America’s heartland versus the coasts. What was the thesis? Did you say, “Let Equinox and others duke it out in New York, D.C. and California. Let’s be aggressive in Minnesota, Texas and Indiana”?
BA: That’s a great question. Actually, I left the company that I had sold to Bally’s in 1988 to build new clubs. The first target market for me was San Francisco. In fact, I spent three years of my life traveling back and forth to San Francisco trying to secure sites and financing. For one reason or another, things just would not come together. So, finally, I was able to start a tiny little club that had been vandalized and closed—
GS: —in Minnesota.
BA: Yes, in Minnesota. But the idea wasn’t originally to be a Midwestern company, and then kind of accidentally get to the coasts. We had always planned to be a national company. The benefit of starting on the coasts is that people know your brand. Your brand gets built, and then you can go everywhere.
GS: But there are offsetting benefits to starting in the Midwest, no?
BA: Starting in the Midwest is tougher. The economies and market can be less robust. Plus, you can do magical things and nobody talks about it. But the benefit is that today, we go to the East Coast, we go to the West Coast, we go to Miami, to all of these hot markets, and we get to build our best product in the hottest markets.
This isn’t a noble idea. It’s been done for hundreds of years in other countries where they have had massive populations.
GS: Actually, I hadn’t heard of Life Time because of that best product. Instead, I have this friend who lives in the suburbs of Philadelphia, who one day told me that he was working at this terrific co-working facility launched by Life Time. So with that backstory, let me ask you this loaded question: Is it easier to start a co-working facility when you already have health clubs, or is it easier to start health clubs when you’re already in the co-working business?
BA: Co-working is a substantially less complicated business to operate than a health club. We both rent space. We both have to fit that space to the needs of the customer, and then we have to provide the programs and everything else. But the health club business is significantly more work than the co-working business.
GS: It sounds like you view them in similar fashion.
BA: Like the club business, we think of co-working as a subscription business. I see it as a continuation of what I wanted to do at the beginning: make things more convenient for my customers. Some of those people would like to work in an environment where they can go downstairs and get their massage or workout. For us, tying it together is a completely natural move.
GS: In five years’ time, how many co-working facilities would you like to have?
BA: I’d say 50 to 60.
GS: Wow. So, a good part of your business?
BA: Yes, but our clubs are so large that even at 50, they’re not equal to 50 of our clubs in terms of revenue. But we think we have a great approach to co-working at the very high end.
GS: What does very high-end mean to you?
BA: The one company we admire and regularly give accolades to at Life Time is Four Seasons. I love their execution. I love their consistency. I love the way each employee is certified and trained to give you the Four Seasons brand of service. We constantly work on delivering that at LifeTime, and that extends to Life Time Work.
GS: You are the largest private operator of swimming pools in the country, right?
BA: That’s correct.
GS: So, in the future, if I’m choosing between Life Time Work and WeWork or another co-working brand, one benefit of your offering is that there’s is a decent shot that you’ll be able to go for a swim in the middle of your workday, right?
BA: That’s right.
GS: That is something that, I would imagine, is not so easy for anybody else, including WeWork, to replicate.
But it’s not as easy as you may think to deliver the feeling of our club into one of those boxes.
BA: I will tell you this: I think WeWork is a phenomenal entity. They have to get credit for what they have done. Co-working existed long before WeWork showed up. They made it the real thing. They put it on the map, and they have created enough size and momentum for other people to step in.
GS: To that point, as you know, WeWork has made a modest foray into residential living. Is that also on your roadmap?
BA: It’s called Life Time Living.
GS: Would that residential offering be integrated alongside the clubs and the co-working facilities?
BA: Yes, and the concept is to bring Life Time Work, Life Time Living, Life Time Resort and sports all together under one roof, and create basically the Life Time Village. This Life Time Village is naturally and intuitively environmentally friendly because you have a car, but you don’t have to use your car for as many trips as you do if you live in disjointed places. This isn’t a noble idea. It’s been done for hundreds of years in other countries where they have had massive populations.
GS: A modern-day town square of sorts.
BA: Exactly.
GS: On that note, I watched the videos associated with your Oklahoma City opening. A few of the people featured said, “I can cancel my country club membership” or, “I can cancel my golf club membership.” That resonated with me, because I’ve always felt like when I’m in an elegant golf club, some guy in a Kelly green blazer is going to tap me on the shoulder and ask me to leave. Do you see Life Time as sort of the alt golf club?
BA: Yes, except I think there’s a place for the country club with golf, because there are some people who want golf.
GS: Sure.
BA: But there are also people like you who don’t want golf. I don’t golf, but my nephew golfs. Compared to athletics, however, golf is played by a much smaller percentage of the population on a regular basis.
GS: Your new club in the Baybrook Mall near Houston and your club in Oklahoma City were both mall-based properties. As you well know, people attribute what’s going on with shopping malls to e-commerce in general and Amazon specifically. Do you see an opportunity for Life Time to become the new anchor of a reimagined shopping mall?
BA: Yes, exactly. Think of the size and the scale that we can deliver. We have approximately 3,000 to 4,000 people with a very high median household income come to each club per day. That’s a lot of foot traffic with money to do other shopping. So, yes, we can play that role. But it’s not as easy as you may think to deliver the feeling of our club into one of those boxes. We generally don’t. Instead, just as we did in Oklahoma City, we need to build on a freestanding piece of a shopping center, and it takes a lot of work.
GS: So if there’s a Sears that is closing in a mall, you can’t just go in and inhabit that box.
BA: Well, it’s not going to be the experience that we have developed for our brand. But it doesn’t mean that we can’t make it work in some locations.
I would literally pay to do my job.
GS: Do you create that experience in-house?
BA: Actually, Life Time has its own development company. We have over 120 architects and engineers. We have our own construction company. We have our own mill shop. So, we’re also a vertically integrated development company.
GS; Given that team and the particulars involved, I’d imagine you’re spending a lot of time with mall owners today.
BA: Oh, regularly. We are in the think tank with them about the opportunities where it makes sense. And I think that there’s at least one thousand locations of the big retailers, like a Sears, or Macy’s, or JCPenney that will become available. But that doesn’t mean you can put a thousand clubs there…
GS: Sure.
BA: In some of those locations, you will find opportunity to build our type of product, and some places it could be apartments. Some places could be office buildings. In some places, it could be all of the above. It’s definitely additive to our traditional opportunity, where we’d go find a raw piece of land to build our club on 12 or 14 acres.
GS: A few years ago, I know you launched a foray into an integrated health solution, and you ran into some challenges. Can you talk a little bit about that?
BA: I still feel passionate about that integrated health model. The problem with our healthcare system is that it’s neither driven 100% by government nor 100% by private enterprise. And right now, it’s in a train wreck. At this point, we kept one of our clinics open for primary care, in which we deliver this integrated, optimal health model. I do remain passionate about it, but from a business model perspective, it just doesn’t work.
GS: What does work is your overall financial model. Do you ever look at the metrics of some of the unicorns that have never approached profitability and think to yourself, “My company is growing very quickly, has scale and is well-diversified across the country. If it were a start-up, positioned as a tech company and had a few large Silicon Valley VCs on the cap table, my company would be worth a stratospheric amount”?
BA: (Laughs) My job is to serve Life Time and its causes, mission, and vision. And while I can see the folks who have become billionaires on paper, I don’t ever think about somebody else being worth more money. When we die, we all go away with absolutely nothing. And right now, I am so lucky to live the life I live and to do what I do. Not only would I do it for free, I would literally pay to do my job.
GS: You ran Life Time as a public company, and now as a private company. Does that represent a major difference for you ? The quarter-to-quarter pressure, the conference calls, grinding non-deal roadshows, etc….
BA: The quarterly conference calls were just never a concern of mine, because I think we either beat or met the street expectations in 41 of the 44 quarters we were public. We have impressive discipline inside of the company, and it extends beyond me. So we’re not worried about it. If we have to be public, we’ll be public. If we have to have other shareholders, we’ll get them in.
GS: It sounds like either way, you’ve got plenty of room to grow. Best of luck to you.
BA: Thanks very much, Gregg.

Influencer Marketing at GBK’s Gifting Suite Honoring Grammy Nominees: Interview with the Businesses
Face-to-face connections with celebrities are hard to attain in real life, and one company has an impressive skill for throwing enjoyable yet commercially fruitful events to bring people together. GBK offers lavish networking events for businesses to connect with celebrities and media on a personal level, and build partnerships.
Tapping into influencer marketing is a major marketing trend for 2017, that is sure to stay, and many brands have achieved greater success by attending celebrity gift lounges. Businesses jumped at the chance to showcase their products to top talent this past weekend. GBK hosted another star-studded soiree, a celebrity gifting event honoring Oscar nominees and presenters. that took place at a $25Million Estate in Beverly Hills, CA. Notable guests included Viola Davis, Miles Teller, Randy Jackson, and Haley Lu Richardson.
Home Business Magazine spoke with the brand representatives about the story behind the brand, the inspiration for company, thoughts on celebrity gift lounges, and what their future marketing strategies are.
Ike’s Place
HBM: How was it at this GBK event today? Has influencer marketing benefited your company?
Ike: “I had a lot of fun. There’s a lot of great gifts, and great food of course. For me, these events have helped because the attendees become customers. When they come in, because I’m in the restaurant business, people take photos of the celebrities at my business. It’s like social proof, when they’re there at the restaurant. Because the food is good, I have a product where people keep coming back and back again. It’s been really helpful for me. I also had a few people at these events come back and want to fund me or open up their own restaurants. I’ve met a couple partners specifically from events like this.”
HBM: What do you like most about GBK and their celebrity gift lounges?
Ike: “I really like the people that work here. They offer a great service, and great people. They’re really fun to be around. They put on a good party too. The celebrities are fun too that show up here. It’s different than the other ones I go to, where these ones are more personable and want to interact. They spend time with the tables.”
HBM: Have you had good promotion from the celebrities?
Ike: “Oh yeah. We have something that’s happening soon, and that person has seven million followers. They’re tweeting out their sandwiches tomorrow. I’m sure that’s going to be helpful.”
HBM: What are your future marketing strategies?
Ike: “More of the same like this. Connecting with influencers and showing that we have social proof. The food is good, so we’re trying to get it out more and more in the public.”
Burke Williams Spa
HBM: How do feel about GBK’s events?
Burke Williams Spa: “This is my first time! I’m honored to be here. It’s been a lot of fun. We’ve had a really warm reception. Glad to hear that a lot of people are familiar with our facilities, and really open and welcome to hear about what we have to offer, which is talking about our newest Hollywood location, which is offering new services including our blow dry bar, our steam pedicures, and garden room services. It’s been really fun.”
HBM: What do you think is most beneficial about going to celebrity gift lounges?
Burke Williams Spa: “I think spreading what we have to offer is most beneficial. No matter who you are, you can benefit from taking care of yourself and wellness, especially living in California, in Los Angeles. We all are really fast paced, and we’re always on the go. Sometimes we forget to let ourselves center, and we offer that to all of your guests.”
HBM: What are you gifting celebrities today?
Burke Williams Spa: “We have a variety of our H2V products, which is the signature line we use in all of our facials and skincare. It’s also included in all of our spa amenities. Our guests can come in and shampoo, condition their hair, and use body wash. All of our facial products are used in our facilities as well. Whether you’re getting a massage or any other service, you can experience them.”

Hallmark Signature
HBM: What is Hallmark Signature?
Hallmark Signature: “Hallmark Signature is Hallmark’s premium greeting card collection. As you can see, the cards have lots of extra dimension and embellishments to them. The copy on it is still very simple and subtle, so you can say a lot with a little. We have cards here for a birthday, some congratulatory cards, which is kind of fun, if you think about from the nominee perspective. ”
HBM: Have you done other celebrity gift lounges like GBK’s in the past?
Hallmark Signature: “We have not. This is our first one. It’s wonderful! It’s been so fun to get our product in front of such a broad range of people. We’ve had everybody from Viola Davis to Anthony Anderson. The card Viola chose was The One and Only. She loved The One and Only and also our little ballerina card. It’s been so fun to see everyone’s reactions to our product! We’ve had a lot of people come by!”
HBM: How did you find out about GBK?
Hallmark Signature: “We’ve worked with them before. We’re really excited about the opportunity to sample our product and with the Oscars being such an elaborate event, and kind of the biggest of the season, we feel like Signature is our best foot forward too, so perfect for that. It’s a celebratory event. Our brand is grounded in style. It’s really about helping people express and share their personal style. This place, with all the style, seemed like a great venue to really debut the brand in front of a big audience.”
Meza Dental
HBM: What is Meza Dental?
Meza Dental: “Meza is a cosmetic dentistry company. We’re based in San José, Costa Rica. The reason we’re here is because they’re a lot of patients from the United States and Canada travelling for vacation to Costa Rica and they’re also getting dental work done. We’re a group of cosmetic dentists trained here in the United States, but born and raised in Costa Rica. This is called “medical tourism”. It’s an industry going on for about fifteen years. Nowadays, Meza Dental is expanding. It’s moving to Colombia. We’re offering the beauty of Costa Rica, of nature. Now we want to offer the glamour of a city like Bogota, where there’s a lot of fashion and nightlife, and things like that. We also would like to offer the possibility of being in Dubai. Dubai is going to be open hopefully in 2018. It’s a major hub for the Arab and Asian immigrants, so there’s a lot of people travelling into Dubai. Nowadays, they have a Dubai healthcare city. That’s where we want to be located at. Nowadays, we’re getting into the celebrity marketing industry.”
HBM: How has GBK helped you with celebrity marketing and making influencer connections?
Meza Dental: “Really good. It has given us a lot of exposure and networking. We’re now on the way of new big plans in the near future. We will hopefully come back for future gifting suites. Our publicist is the one moving us around but we’ll see. Viola Davis was here this morning, which was great.”
Earthwater
HBM: Please tell us about your product.
Earthwater: “This is alkaline water. It has a PH of 9. It has 77 trace minerals in it and that’s what gives it its brown color. We take minerals from deep inside the earth and infuse it into the water. There’s absolutely nothing else added besides just the minerals that are really good for you. There’s no added sugar, no flavor, or anything like that. It’s vegan and gluten-free. It has no calories.”
HBM: How was the company founded?
Earthwater: “It was founded by CJ Comu who is actually in Dallas, Texas, and that’s where our little secret spot is where we get everything from. CJ actually just flew back out today and so I’m their spokesperson for Los Angeles and I’ve been doing a lot of the events for them here. It’s several years old. We did the gift suites last year, and we also did the Superbowl. It’s been around. People love it!”
HBM: How has GBK helped you with influencer marketing, and helping the company connect you with celebrities and media?
Earthwater: “So much! Like I said—we did the gift suites last year as well. We’ve had a really good rapport with everybody. It’s been really great.”
Pure Seduction
HBM: Tell us about Pure Seduction.
Pure Seduction: “It’s a premium men underwear store. We are located in New York and we have an online store. Everything comes from Berlin, is designed and made over there. We have very different materials and fabrics. We have all different styles from very conservative to very kinky styles.”
HBM: How was the company founded?
Pure Seduction: “I opened the company because I had a friend who moved here from Russia. I asked him what he’s missing that Americans don’t have. He said, “Americans don’t have good underwear.” So, I started to search and bought a couple brands and brought them here. It was initially a multi-brand store. How we are launching our own line.”
HBM: How do you feel about celebrity gifting events?
Pure Seduction: “It’s our first event. Everybody’s different. People are different. I like to see how people react to our brand. It’s always fun.”
HBM: What are you future plans?
Pure Seduction: “We’re opening a store in West Hollywood. We are launching our own brand. It’s exciting!”
Il Palato Italiano
HBM: What is Il Palato Italiano?
Il Palato Italiano: “We are a club for food lovers and we select the most exclusive Italian products we can find. We try to bring them to the United States with a new concept which is to fly a hope brigade from Europe and come and cook at your doorstep.”
HBM: How has influencer marketing and attending gift lounges benefited your business?
Il Palato Italiano: “This is the second event we are doing in the United States. On Monday evening, we were at a top celebrity’s home for his housewarming. We had a dinner for eighteen people. All these connections came from attending the GBK gift lounge they hosted for the Emmy’s. The gift we’re giving is a spaghetti kit for six people that you can do at home with our selection of product. It’s a tiny, seasonal selection, so when it’s over, it’s over. You have to book it for next year. For some people we’ve got an exclusive dinner, which is a dinner for ten people. You can do it whenever you want, and have the chef come. They can build their own menus and have the tailor-made experience.”
HBM: What do you like most about GBK?
Il Palato Italiano: “They take care of every detail. They are punctual, and helpful for us in getting our message through. We’re very happy about the company.”
