So lately I've been realising that life has more to it than just running after materialism. Since the beginning of this year, I had a dramatic personality change -- I opened a hospitality venture (my campsite @footloosecamps) and even organised MOTORBIKING tours (footloosedevexpeditions.com). I even planned to open a hostel soon. But I think I'm not ready for it (call it another personality transition) because think all of this was really taking a toll on my mind. So I've decided, for now, at least, I'm not going to do anything but just run a campsite and focus all my energy on traveling and blogging. I've booked a motorbike that's arriving in January. Once I'll have it, I'll be a clueless nomad again, and plan a long motorbike trip across India. I think it's time for me to learn a bit more about people and myself than getting my hands dirty in money-making! What do you think? The “Romantic Road”, as its English translation goes, is a scenic road that takes you through quaint towns and the Bavarian Alps. Yes, yes, the name does sound rather trite but there has got to be some truth to it if it were named as such – and there is. Having done a tiny bit of it myself on a motorbike (just a bit of it unfortunately) and much of it while running parallel on a railway track, I have to admit that the route’s charm comes not just from its good mix of countryside landscape but also its quaint towns. Consider the German Romantic Road the equivalent of  Australia’s Great Ocean Road or Iceland’s Ring Road. It's one of the highlights in the region, a must-try for motorbike fanatics, and my inspiration to revisit Germany soon. Located about 450km north of the Gold Coast the flight to the Lady Elliot Island takes almost 1.5 hours but nonetheless offers one of the most scenic flights you can find in the world. As the journey starts,and you fly over the North and South Stradbroke Islands, Moreton Island and Fraser Island -- you catch glimpses of many white sand beaches, beautiful suburbs, periodic cliffs and of course, an eternal turquoise sea. And since it is a small chartered plane and doesn't fly much higher (like big planes do) spotting life on land is so much easier. So yea, the flight to The Lady Elliot Island has been the most scenic flight I've ever experienced. But how about you? It was quite a night last night, witnessing all the planets and a cluster of galaxies with my eyes. Never felt so real and insignificant at the same time. And the fact that some of the galaxies I saw were a few billion light-years away, (meaning that the light that made me see them last night was) belonging to a time when dinosaurs were still alive on earth, was totally overwhelming! The old town of Ljubljana is an atmospheric web of cobbled streets and colorful buildings topped with terracotta tiled roofs. A few churches spire in the center, with a castle perched on a hilltop looking down on you. Rüdesheim, as a town, is one of the most touristy places in Germany due to its location on the Rhine River and centuries of history. Tourists start pouring in as early as 8 in the morning, as the many souvenir shops prepare themselves with a mix of wine and craft items. It was undoubtedly clear that the journey, as soon as the bus escaped Italy and entered into Swiss territory, became far more surreal.
