One of the first things I did when this whole covid19 crap started was to join as a volunteer to foster kittens! I joined the group Cat People of Oahu and became a foster mom for these babies! I have 5 under my care, but it is so hard to get them all in the same picture haha, so this is the best I could get right now. They were about 3 weeks old when I became their foster and so they had to be bottle fed with kitten formula. That is probably my favorite part because they are so young and little and they depend on you for life. They were found in a bush in Waianae and their mom hadn’t been seen in days. 

I gave them all names after Covid-19 and everyone loves them! From left to right: Cottonelle, Covi, Kai Rona (white and orange one), Purrella and the 5th is Pandemic (Pan for short). These little kittens have definitely helped bring some light into my life and my daughter absolutely adores them!! We will see if we get anymore after these babies get adopted!

Because our house is old, drafty, and horribly energy INefficient (if the thermostat is set to 68°, it's probably a chilly 60° in the living room, and a sweaty 75° in our master bedroom, and probably 50° in the attic, basement, and outer corner of our kitchen), we splurged and treated the fur babies to a HEATED TENT. No matter how important or heartfelt the cause, it's possible to lose sight of the ultimate goal and get caught up in minutiae that divides rather than unites. It's especially maddening and distressing when division happens because actual lives depend on us rescuers remembering we're united and must remain united for one cause: to save and provide better quality of lives for cats in need. As a village. It takes a network. No one of us can do all of it. I have an entire contact list of rescuers and fosters and TNRers and transporters I am in touch with on a regular basis, and cats flow between us on a regular basis - BECAUSE IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO SAVE CATS. And that is all genuine rescuers as a village of crazy cat ladies* set out to do: save as many cats as possible from being born, from suffering needlessly, from living on the streets when they could live in homes, from dying alone. That is all I have set out to do. That is all I will continue to do. BRING ME THE KITTIES SO OUR VILLAGE CAN SAVE THEM. We can't change the world for all cats; but for one cat, we can change their entire world! 🤗 I know this is a vague post, so I will say this: last night, in the bosom of my family, I was able to vent, cry, talk through my confusion and questions and pain; sands then this morning I woke up with a clearer mind. Now? Back to fur babies.
