well best old lady mothwing still isn't dead yet (sad) but SO GLAD she not only dodged having to be permanent leader she also passed on the skill to Frostdawn. From one "trained as a warrior chose to be a healer" to her "trained as a healer chose violence instead" former apprentice. beautiful. just beautiful

Small break in all of my Arcane posting (yeas I have a new obsession sue me. I wasn't on tumblr when the first season came out and I was just as rabid. The animation is just so good, and the story is great, and the gays are wonderful) to talk about ASC Star

I thought it was pretty good! A lot of focus on Frostdawn, as to be expected. Nightheart and Sunbeam just kinda hung out, Nightheart most of all. Which does make sense as he had most of his development in the first 3-4 books of the arc.

I like that Berryheart dies without really making peace with Sunbeam. And that when they are burrying her, Sunbeam acknowledges this and the fact that her mother wasn't a good cat. BUT that she still loves her. I feel like a lot of evil WC parents are just evil and condemned, but Berryheart (at least to her daughter) was a bit more grey.

Speaking of evil parents. Curlfeather is the same with Frostdawn. She keeps trying to explain herself, but doesn't really have a better reason than she wanted to strengthen River Clan. She never really apologizes to Frostdawn, and they both have to live with that. I like that we as readers know who/what is haunting Splashtail, but it is never spelled out for the cats. Like, I feel like if this would have happened last arc or in AVOS, someone, Tree or Rootspring, would have been like "oh look you can see Curlfeather there next to him looking creepy and whispering in his ear, isn't that crazy? Doesn't that explain why he's going crazy?" But they just simply don't do that. All the cats are confused, no one can see who he's talking to or what's going on. Which makes it a whole lot better.

Wished that Icewing would have had more meaningful interactions with Frostdawn early in the arc. So that her singing being the strongest and purest would have made more sense. But Icestar seems like she'll be a good leader

Of to Moonpaw, you silly little guy. I hope it's not the absorbed twin route, even if that's what the blurb and preview seem to indicate.
