mateo didn't answer right away. he leaned forward, elbows on his knees, eyes fixed on the floor like the words might be hiding there, waiting to crawl out on their own. but they didn't. they just sat in his chest, too big and too loud, until he couldn't ignore them anymore. "because," he finally said, barely above a whisper, "you're the only person that's ever made me feel like… like i could breathe." his fingers curled into his palms, jaw tightening as he shook his head, frustrated with himself. "it's not just tonight. every time we fight—they fight with me, i mean—i end up thinking about what you'd say. what you'd do. if you'd tell me to walk away or stay and try harder. and when it's good with them? i still think about telling you first." he lifted his head then, eyes finally meeting hers. there was nothing casual about the look he gave her—no teasing, no mask. just something raw, something terrified. "it's always been you. i just didn't realize it until... until now. and i know that's fucked up, rae. i know it's messy. but i had to say it."

she hadn’t expected a knock at her door, especially not at this hour. but the moment she heard that familiar rhythm echo through her quiet living room, the redhead knew exactly who it was. rae didn’t say a word as she opened the door, stepping aside to let him in, giving him the space to come to her on his own terms. the femme took her usual place on the opposite end of the couch, listening quietly as mateo began to unravel, his voice heavy with truths she’d heard before—refrains of a cycle they both knew too well. until he said something different. something that made her heart falter. “me? why were you thinking of me?”

Rewatching "Yield Point" from near the beginning of s3

And man-

A) ⟟ forgot how scary /pos the vibes of this stream was all bc it was Rae going to talk to Ven

B) we see Perix becoming minor god, and the hesitancy that she has in become the goddess of illusions and Enderian like- getting her to take it

And it's so mhmmmmm- like- in-between that time of her becoming ⏃ god and when she gets Cas as ⏃ prisoner, so much of her hand changed- she was no longer this hesitant goddess, she was this goddess that only was (probably) taking her anger out into Cas and it's so- ararara

C) Rae talking ab Fable is the only one giving him information (as of that time) and Ven following up basically is that helping you or himself

Bc he scared of getting Fable back out and he cant even fully remember why

Bc Fable had killed him, Ven isn't even supposed to be there to begin with, he's supposed to be dead and that gotta be why he was so hesitatent of Fable coming back out

And yet he walks right back into Fable's trap and starts working for him again huh

" that must fucking suck . i mean, a lot of things fucking suck right now ." cherry allows, her brow arching . " but that must fucking suck for you ." cherry moves to take a sip of her milkshake to punctuate the words, studying him almost curiously from where she sits at the diner's counter . she puts down her glass before adding a blunt, " although, it overall seems like a pretty shitty business to be busy in, i'm not going to lie to you ." if cherry was honest she mostly only started the conversation because they were the only two people in here, and well, cherry never did well with boredom . especially not now, with the doom and gloom of it all settling over the town like a heavy blanket . no, cherry needed distractions and a lot of them . she was pretty sure this conversation might give her at least ten minutes of that if nothing else . so cherry turns to face him then, the diner's counter digging into the small of her back as she almost boredly asks, " ... you like your job or what ?"
