I’m going to get into the Honkai real quick now. Hopefully an easy and smooth explanation since I don’t really want them to be a big focus, especially since this AU isn’t some big story that has an ending.
The Will of Honkai is a being that can create and destroy. Basically, a God. It created the Honkai and Herrschers for the purpose of destroying humanity and letting it prosper again in a cycle of creation and destruction.
However, two other Gods had approached the Will of Honkai and struck a deal with it. To put the cycle on hold until it is needed, for the Herrschers and Honkai to become more of a guardian to the Gods. So, the Honkai is stopped and Herrschers laid dormant.
I say “dormant” because they still exist, they’re not gone entirely. They are naturally formed inside random people. Usually, when the current holder of the gem dies with it still inside, the gem will dissipate and naturally form in a new person. (Example: Raiden Mei)
The Herrschers and Honkai will be set in full motion only when the people below the Gods start to try and overthrow the Gods. This will start the beginning of the end. To the end, a new beginning.
Now, what identifies a person to be a Herrscher with a dormant core?
A Natural Herrscher/Legendary Stigmata, this is the only one that’s going to exist in this universe, the three of them all together confuse the shit out of me (kind of, too much information that ends up being useless.) The Legendary Stigmata is a mark made for the people who have a natural gem inside of them, a Herrscher Core. These lay dormant until a power surge activates them, which usually comes from the Will of Honkai. But they can be activated by other sources.
The other sources being a demon, an angel, or one of the other 2 Gods.
How did Mei’s core activate?
A certain demon activated it! Ehh.. we’ll get to that someday. Maybe.
What happens when the core activates?
Explosion. :D
People die, some get infected and turn into some sort of Zombie or Honkai Creature. Usually, these accidents get fixed pretty quickly.
Herrschers get tracked down easily, since.. they leave some sort of blood trail. (How Fu Hua finds Mei.)
Mei ended up being a little harder to find due to the speed she has, so she’s a fast as fuck bastard.
These disasters are usually kept under wraps because they rarely happen! They shouldn’t even happen!! But a little bastard decided “OH LET’S GO FOR THAT ONE!”
Mei’s not the only one that got activated. She’s the current one we only know that’s been active.
What Happens if the Gem is pulled out before the holder’s natural death?
It stays intact. It’s now just a gem that can be implanted into anyone and either infect them, kill them, or stay dormant in its new host until activated or killed.
Can a Core be passed down?
Yes, they can be.
What does the Will of Honkai or Gods do when a Herrscher is activated when not commanded to by them?
They do nothing to the Herrscher, they actually watch people who can help them keep in check. But they do hunt down the person that activated the core in the first place. They’re also the ones that send out troops to clean up the mess.
What will happen if all of the Herrschers get activated?
That depends on how many are passive (with humanity) and how many are aggressive (against humanity.) Which currently, isn’t even important to The Will of Honkai. For all it cares, they can fight against each other. It didn’t send out some message to destroy humanity, so it’s not important to the WoH.
So have fun imagining an all out Herrscher war or something, I don’t know lol.
Cocoon of Finality? Herrscher of Origin and Finality?? They real??
Yeah but currently useless. They have no purpose right now so no one has the authority of Origin or Finality at the time being. But we all know who’ll get picked for Origin if war breaks out.
‘-‘)
That’s.. pretty much it. They’re not that big. I’m not adding the Imaginary Tree or Sea of Quanta. We have the Underworld, the Overworld, and the Heavens. I don’t see the purpose of adding more shit that’ll end up being more confusing to juggle with. This is a Supernatural creatures AU, The Honkai itself is just another thing. So I don’t really see the purpose of making it a giant deal. At least not yet, plans can change.
Mei being a person naturally made to be a Herrscher explains why people hunted her down throughout her life. So this stays true unlike whatever Hoyo did with her story in-game.
Other shit like the Flamechasers will be explained and adjusted in the future, but for now they’re not important.
Questions like what does Schicksal do and so on will be covered at some point. Just not now, don’t wanna reveal it. :v

fu hua x gn!herrscher!reader warnings: honkai spoilers most likely, herrscher type the reader is isn't mentioned (bc i couldnt think of any), grammar + spelling mistakes, lowercase writing, tell me if i forgot any. description:
that's her...
ah how could not tell from her voice alone? is that why it sounded so familiar to you? after so so so long. you finally saw her again. word count: 1.4k
Tumblr media
you never had a home, never had and never will. being a herrscher meant being more on the run than able to pick one place to stay. the possibility of someone trying to capture you laid heavy on your shoulders against everything else that could possibly stand against you. the previous overwhelming sense of melancholy about it all had faded after hundreds and thousands of years by now.
you were used to being on the run, never planned on ending it. it would be impossible to do it after all.
yet at times, you did find yourself thinking about her. one of the mantis' that once fought against you. to her, her entire purpose was to fight against the honkai, to finally end them all off. but in the end, she wasn't able to.
you sighed, old memories once again resurfacing. there wasn't much to do with your own head after all. nothing else to think about what where to go and everything that happened in the old world. conversations were short with humans, eating at restaurants or cooking was silent, walks around any area was cut short at all times. there was very little you could do to change it.
the wind picked up around you as you sat up. placing down a tip of money onto the picnic table for your server when they came to clean the table you had sat at. the temperature was slowly getting colder with the season of winter approaching as the days went by. the air caught in your chest was slowly let out as you walked along the path, you felt strangely lonely. even the leaves that drifted away drifted together.
were you a lone leaf compared to them? a broken leaf floating from the tree of your past, yet never able to stay far away from it. a leaf that would get stomped on or crumpled up. or would your leaf never stop its journey around? would it be able to see the world? or would it be crushed?
the wind seemed to continue to pick up, almost like it didn't want you to move. but being stagnant wasn't an option to you. all you could do was continue onwards, even if the entire world had to stop moving so you would stand still for a moment longer.
"the wind seems to get pretty aggressive in these times, doesn't it?"
that voice… it was familiar to you. yet also so unknown at the same time.
you cleared your throat before answering, "i guess it does."
"almost like the world itself is telling you to stop running for once."
"huh?"
you turned to the voice.
that's her…
ah how could not tell from her voice alone? is that why it sounded so familiar to you? after so so so long. you finally saw her again.
it wasn't good that you saw her though, right? the girl right by you, fu hua, had made it her entire life to destroy the honkai after everything that had happened to her. after everything they had done to her in the old world. it seemed you weren't any different either, being a herrscher after all.
is this where it will end for you?
fu hua didn't do anything more than adjust her glasses as the wind had made them a bit uneven on her face. another breeze floated next to the both of you. oh how you wished it would let you move from the spot you were seemingly glued to already. more leaves rustled by the two of you. two broken leaves fluttered to a stop in front of both you and fu hua, both ruined from being stepped on but continuing the journey together.
fu hua's voice broke through the breeze, stepping towards you yet missing both of the leaves that stood in her way. "it seems that running into herrschers on accident is a common theme around this time, as strange as it is now. after all that has happened in our old world."
the air around you seemed to chill. you didn't want to end like this. why weren't you allowed to live? what did you do? you swore you've kept yourself a clean slate in this era now. taking control of your herrscher abilities and doing what you could to survive longer through this time. is all that work going to end now?
yet fu hua didn't make any further move to you.
"a-are you going to end it now? kill me right here?" you asked. your voice felt so quiet, barely leaving passed your lips as the words flew in the wind that kept swaying by.
"i've met many new people during this time, and learned many new things. even a stubborn girl i know was able to drag me out from where i once was. even after all that i have done, after all that has happened in the past and even continuing in the present."
"that doesn't even answer my question."
fu hua's calmness seemed to irk you. was she dragging it out? what was she planning? you haven't seen her since the previous era, how much has she changed by now? what would happen?
more questions continued to float in your head, never moving. they were stagnant, unlike what you were. continuing to grow and bury themselves into your head to never move until something was done.
"you haven't let me answer it" fu hua said, walking two steps closer to you, "for once, i have no plans for taking you out. even as a herrscher you've been on the run since the beginning of your time. not even the strongest of winds could hold you down now."
your eyes followed the two leaves that were once landed right in front of you. finally, they broke free from the still air between you and fu hua, disappearing into the wind. their journey was unknown to you and fu hua. yet it seemed their journey would be complete with the both of them together for once.
would it ever be like that for you?
"yet can i ask for you to once, pause for journey across the world?"
what was she thinking?
was she tricking you?
your head was blank and full of all the possibilities of what she meant. the air stilled, the wind disappearing and the leaves standing still.
"has… has time changed you that much?" you whispered.
"less of time and more of a few stubborn friends that don't want to let me go either," fu hua answered.
"i've been journeying by myself across this land for more years than any human can count, why should i stop now?"
"you've been getting more worn out overtime. even a herrscher can't spend time all alone, going to the last bit of rope on a cliff of loneliness, just to fall. someone has taught me that now. and the best thing to do with messages of those is to carry it on to others around you.
seeing you here was something i didn't expect, yet it felt like a proper time to pass along this teaching that has taken so long for me to understand. at some point, all things have to end. even if it might be something you've done for years."
silence sat in the air. the will to finally accept someones warmth beckoned you to its enticing embrace. yet you still felt hesitant. was it truly a good idea? what would you do?
"if i take you up on this offer… what will happen?"
fu hua let out an amused to breath, "not even i can say much to that. many things have happened that we could never predict would. yet, it seems better than to be able to see what is coming every single day. knowing you'll be continuing on a journey of running, or continuing on a journey that never seemed to end at all. maybe for once, you can continue on without knowing."
fu hua held out her hand to you. it was in reach.
what would happen though? would you be safe?
you tried to empty your head, yet nothing worked. even then, your hand reached out into fu hua's. placing your palm against yours. her hands were rough from fighting, yet it felt so warm to you. it felt inviting… you missed this. something you were never able to have in your life. you can finally have it for once.
"then please… let me stay still for once," you whispered, words barely coming out without cracking. tears that were held inside for years finally facing the surface, facing the light you were finally facing for once.
"of course," was all fu hua answered.
for once, you could stay still. planting yourself in a time that wasn't filled with running from all of humanity. for once, you wouldn't regret a choice you were made. and you'd never regret having fu hua along side you.

Fu Hua the secret agent.
I will be spoiling parts of all of the above.
Previous Era of Civilization
Fu Hua’s story starts 50,000 years ago in her home city of Sapphire, a Honkai eruption had occurred and she had hidden from the beasts and was one of the few survivors. She was found by Himeko, the leader of Squadron V in MOTH, and she offered to teach Fu Hua how to fight the Honkai. A year later Himeko was corrupted by the Honkai and became the 7th Herrscher, the Herrscher of Flame and was killed by Kevin Kaslana. Fu Hua was the only survivor of Squadron V after their leader became a Herrscher and was mistrusted by other members of MOTH, calling her the “Firewytch’s Little Bird”, because she and Himeko were close.
Later Fu Hua was assigned with a group of other MOTH soldiers to take back a mine in Australia. They were going to be given 10th Divine Key weapons as they had begun being mass produced, and told that it was a field trial for the Divine Keys. They were given an injection before the mission and sent off.
(note: there are multiple 10th Divine Keys because the 10th Herrscher took over many bodies, thus there are multiple Herrscher cores to weapons)
When they arrived they had no problems killing smaller Honkai beasts but then the massive Emperor class Honkai beast Gensha appeared and killed everyone, the Divine Keys being wielded by regular humans had no effect on such a strong Honkai beast.
When Fu Hua confronted Ganesha her Divine Key shattered and she was thrown against a building but unlike the other soldiers the metamorph ICHOR which they had injected into the soldiers before the mission took hold and Fu Hua became a MANTIS soldier, adding Honkai genes to her human DNA. Her shattered 10th Divine Key also changed form from a Xuanyuan Sword to the Grips of Taixuan.
Tumblr media
DR. MEI also gave Fu Hua the 8th Divine Key, Fenghuang Down; it creates illusions/ dreams that Fu Hua can trap her targets in. She is also seen using it to power up normal attacks, or perform attacks that are impossible, such as cutting out a man’s tongue when she’s tied up and he tries to assault her. She also put herself/a copy of herself in somebody else’s mind using Fenghuang Down.
After this we know she fought the Honkai as a MANTIS like Kevin Kaslana, the previous era Sakura or Su did. She also took part in the final battle against the  14th Herrscher, the Herrscher of the End, on the Moon. After the previous era’s final defeat at the hands of the Herrscher of the End, Fu Hua and the remaining Humans went underground and into cryostasis to wait for the 4th Divine Key to heal the damage Honkai had done to the Earth.
Current Era of Civilization
Sometime around when human civilization reappeared was when the survivors from the Previous Era reemerged from cryostasis. When exactly isn’t shown but we are shown panels in the manga of Su and Kevin in Ancient Egypt and Rome/Greece.
Fu Hua, Fuxi, and Nuwa are in charge of aiding human civilization around China and they’ve set up base in Shenzhou. They were in charge of Project EMBER, a project meant to speed up the development of human civilization. Fuxi and Nuwa were also entrusted with a 10th Divine Key and tasked with giving it to a person of this era who could wield it, they picked a young woman with a stigmata Ji Xuanyuan. Fuxi and Nuwa also created the Phoenix image for Fu Hua to have to make her a legend
Fuxi and Nuwa weren’t MANTIS soldiers unlike Fu Hua so they would age and die. They didn’t want Fu Hua to become lonely when they were gone so they make the ELF Book of Fuxi to keep her company.
Unfortuntely because the Honkai grows with civilization Project EMBER sped up the growth of the Honkai and gave birth to the Judgement class Honkai beast Chiyou. Nuwa and Fuxi died to stop it and Ji Xuanyuan was trapped inside the beast. Project EMBER was cancelled and Fu Hua became the Immortal Celestial, Phoenix, Protector of Shenzhou to protect China because that’s what she promised she’d do.
Fu Hua also starts a school to teach people how to combat the Honkai. It was Book of Fuxi’s final request.
In the late 1400s Schicksal has solidified its control over Europe and wants more, so they decide to head east. Schicksal and the Ming Empire fight in the Eurasian steppe from 1470-1475 but then Fu Hua shows up and defeats Schicksal’s army single-handed. She also defeats Kallen Kaslana in single combat and call her out for using the Oath of Judah against humans.
Now we get to the visual novel. It’s not translated but I’ll give a brief summary of what I know from hearsay. Fu Hua is betrayed by her students and killed in an extremely gory description that includes organs outside of the body and exposed brains. Luckily a few cells are left alive, so she can heal back from that, due to being a MANTIS soldier. She sets out looking for answers as to why she was betrayed. She also meets Otto Apocalypse, who is wandering the world after Kallen’s death. I don’t know what happens beyond that.
Mihoyo please translate your shit.
Anyway, Fu Hua continues protecting civilization in Shenzhou. She also adopts and trains Cheng Lixue sometime in the 1990s but then also abandons her.
the Second Honkai War
(again seriously, read the Second Eruption Manga)
The Second Honkai War is where we see how terrifyingly powerful Fu Hua is.
When Otto mobilizes all of Schicksal to defeat Sirin, because she had gained 6 Herrscher cores and the situation had gotten really out of hand. He also calls upon his old friend Fu Hua, because Sirin has the Gem of Serenity, the core of the Herrscher of Death and Otto believes he needs the Herrscher of Death to revive Kallen.
Otto, Cheng Lixue, and Fu Hua personally confront Sirin on top of Babylon labs where they confront the Herrscher of the Void directly. Fu Hua immediately traps her in a dream world and fights her in the dream world and kills her there, making her think she’s dead. Then Otto fucks everything up by letting Sirin get in touch with God and she free’s Sirin from Fu Hua’s dream, so Fu Hua creates an attack so powerful Sirin that God has to shield her from the blow. Sirin had to be saved by deus ex machina.
Tumblr media
Luckily Fu Hua’s punch did sever Sirin’s connection to God. Unfortunately, she burnt up so much of the 8th Divine Key she lost her memories. Sirin also left the dream world with control over some of the powers of the 8th Divine Key.
When she exits the dream world she doesn’t remember who Cheng Lixue is and Cheng Lixue sacrifices herself to let Otto escape with the unconscious Fu Hua.
By the time the 2nd Honkai War is over, Fu Hua wakes up and runs away from Schicksal but she has nowhere else to go. She has lost a great deal of her power and is dying as well, so she has to rely on Schicksal to defend Shenzhou because her promise to do so is all she really remembers. She basically has to become Otto’s personal lackey in order to ensure her home’s safety.
In 2014, Kiana and the gang are at St. Freya and Fu Hua takes Kiana on a mission with her under the guise of it being easy. A Schicksal scientist has defected and taken the Gem of Serenity with him to neutral Singapore to escape to Anti-Entropy territory. Fu Hua has to get it back. Fu Hua kills a pervy clone of the 1st Herrscher and Kiana gets to the Gem first. Kiana is possessed by the Herrscher of the Void because the the Gem of Serenity was returned to her. (Kiana is Sirin, want that explained? Ask me or go read the 2nd Eruption Manga). Fu Hua beats her up and gets the Gem back, saving Kiana. The whole purpose of Fu Hua’s mission was actually to make sure that the Herrscher could get the Gem of Serenity.
Stuff That Happens in Game (spoilers for Chapter 4 onwards until the end of the post)
After Chapter 4 in the game Fu Hua uses the 8th Divine Key to go into Bronya’s mind to help her put her mind back together after Bronya destroys the chip in her brain to stop Cocolia from being able to mind control her.
Chapters 5 and 6 are both illusions created by the Herrscher of the Void using the small part 8th Divine Key she stole from Fu Hua in the Second Honkai War. When the Herrscher of the Void begins to awaken within Kiana at the end of Chapter 6, Fu Hua kidnaps Kiana takes her Schicksal HQ. Fu Hua fights for Otto in the beginning and captures Himeko. She uses the 8th Divine Key to heal Himeko after their fight then goes to save her friends, then Otto kills her for betraying him.
BUT all those people she’s used the 8th Divine Key on still have a copy of her in their heads. So Himeko is guided around Schicksal HQ by Fu Hua and given the means to save Kiana from the Herrscher of the Void. Bronya is saved from Grey Serpent by the Fu Hua in her head. Kiana has the Fu Hua in her head throughout ARC City until Fu Hua fights Kevin to let Kiana escape. And now Kevin has that Fu Hua as a feather.
Where does that leave us now?
At least one copy of Fu Hua still exists in feather form. Kevin says he’ll wake her up when it’s all over, in reference to defeating the Honkai.
The Fu Hua in Bronya’s head doesn’t seem to be explicitly gone.
If you’re in the “Himeko’s not dead” crowd then she’d still be there but,, Himeko.
And if it’s possible for her body to come back from near-death again then that’s a possibility but she was extremely weak when she died compared to when she healed the last time.
Anyway, Phoenix is the Hottest Thing There Is.
