Me watching the movie and reading Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes and discovering the young snow everyone is thirsting over is just… an asshole

The anti snowbaird stans are bold, loud and wrong. I miss when we didn’t have to retreat. The hate just seems to have come out of no-where too. It’s like they were transferring their anti zeglyth hate onto the ship and it’s annoying. Now the tags on ao3 r all fucked up because I keep seeing snowjanus under snowbaird tags.

I hate every ship that’s not snowbaird. I can forgive snowjanus slightly. But I refuse to see any ship that’s snowdew (unless snowbaird is endgame), coralbaird (so dumb!) and Sejanus/Lucy Gray or whatever their trio name is called with Coryo. Whoever ships those can burn in hell.

I FINISHED THE FUCKING BOOK

AAAAAAAAH I stayed up until 2 am last night reading and then skipped my first class so I could keep reading and get some sleep 💀

I really liked it, I honestly don't know what to think?? We all knew snow was terrible but like

Experiencing his rise to terribleness?? kinda scary

I did like the scene where he was running around in the forest at the end going crazy, it was giving sebastian Stan in fresh towards the end and I loved it

It’s just such a good piece of literature, like such a good depiction of how NOT to humanise a villain bc this man really grow up in relative poverty and war but he had GOOD people around him and yet every single time he made bad, evil decisions fuelled by being power hungry and possessive and paranoid. And then all that is sprinkled in with romantic lines like “he went to sleep that night replaying the kiss over and over” AND LIKE??? Suzanne Collins actually makes you hate him, question him YET root for him at the same time??? UNTIL his ultimate betrayal of Sejanus AND THE LAST FEW PAGES WITH LUCY GRAY AHHHHHHHHH LIKE???? How is someone that good of an author it actually kills me. She wrote toxic power hungry yet insecure male SO WELL I can’t even 😭😭😭

I’m so anxious bc I tend to put things I love on such a high pedestal and then the movie never lives up to it 😭😭 I’m watching it this weekend with my bestie I hope I love it!!

The end scene where he’s running around shooting and going insane actually makes me feel SICK. It’s like I’m Lucy gray and I feel sickened by him despite the fact that it’s his POV 😭😭 he is sickening… AHHHH

i’m obviously obsessed with tbosas so here are my thoughts so i can get it out of my system 😚

i LOVED this book. i was excited when it was announced and trusted suzanne collins. and boy, did she deliver! y’all know what i mean, but i love this world. i love this story and this book added so much to the original

seeing the games in there early days, how even less humane it was. how no one liked watching it. it’s literally in a sports arena. i also loved seeing snow (and his father’s) hand in making the games

i think snow’s characterization was brilliant. i liked him, i rooted for him, but i didn’t leave the book loving him. we see his “downfall.” though i don’t really think that’s what you would call it. he way always gray, but circumstances made him darker. i saw someone complain there was no anakin and the younglings moment, but i truly don’t think that was needed

and lucy gray! i am obsessed with her. she’s a fascinating character bc we don’t really know her. and i did enjoy her ending. it’s fitting that we’ll never know what happened to her. i personally think she died. but i want to know what was going through her head in the final chapter. snow quickly turned on her, but i don’t think she turned on him. she is a good person. she views people as good and isn’t happy that she had to kill people in the games. the snake wasn’t venomous and we don’t even actually know if she planted it there. snow is worked up in such a state, i don’t think we can trust any of his thoughts in that scene

hate to say it, but i’m fascinated by lucy gray and coriolanus. the first time reading (yes, i’ve already read it twice) they were too weird for me but eventually i accepted them. the second time... i really like them for what they are. no, i don’t think they’re truly in love, but i think there is genuine affection from both of them

they are two hot teenagers thrown into a tense situation. their survival depends on one another and they cling to each other. people wonder why lucy gray is into him. he’s cute and kind to her! she’s views the best of people and interprets his actions as him being good. her boyfriend was just cheating on her and now there’s this cute, nice boy cheating to save her life. she’s got a crush! they didn’t know each other well enough to be in love for real, but they have some cute scenes and i’ll stand by this wack relationship. lucy gray is so important for snow’s development and i don’t mind the romance at all

i loved sejanus!! a sweet baby. fuck snow for the jabberjay incident and fuck him for stealing ma and sir

also the epilogue in general felt rushed. there was so much info in there. and i was disappointed by snow not becoming an officer. gaul just put him on a little summer vacation. that was disappointing as was her character imo

but other characters i loved were tigris, clemensia, festus, and lysistrata. i imagine the capitol kids like the people in gossip girl. all snotty upper eastsiders. anytime something bad happens... xoxo

and i loved jessup and reaper along with the covey. particularly maude ivory

and i must say... the covey are SOUTHERN. i do not care what they look like but they better have some drawl and twangy accents

spare tigris book please. i must read about their fallout
