Plan With Me | August 2019 Bullet Journal Setup

Hello! I know there's still a good while until we reach August, but I got really excited to do this spread, and I just couldn’t hold myself back. I decided to go with a panda theme this month because I got these really cute panda stickers at the Japanese market a few weeks ago, and I wanted to use them before I got too attached. 

So here’s my cover design. I was initially going to sketch the panda, but I couldn’t get the proportions down for the life of me, so I decided to print a picture out instead. I personally think this simple design is really cute.

For the monthly calendar spread, I decided that I didn’t want to write in the small square spaces. It just gets too cluttered for me. So to fix this little problem, I’m simply going to highlight a small space of the square, and the color is going to be determined on the subject, which is color coded. There’s an example in the next picture for anyone who is confused.

Here’s the full look of the monthly calendar spread. I really like how the rounded squares turned out. In my opinion, it makes the whole page look cuter and more spacious. It took me a while to finish this page, but it was so worth it. As you can probably tell, I accidentally drew in an extra square, so I just filled in the space with one of the panda stickers and stamped in a heart where the number was supposed to go.

I’m honestly really impressed with how this page turned out. The drawings are really simple- I just drew some parallel vertical lines with the help of a ruler and made the little segments by drawing horizontal lines and erased the space that was in-between the sections. I used metallic gold washi tape and a gold colored SAI watercolor brush pen as an accent color.

Because the material of the paper in my journal isn’t compatible with the art supplies I used, the ink that was used for the calendar spread was slightly visible from the back. To accommodate for that little happening, I just printed out some more cute and funny panda pictures, cut them to fit the page, and used my trusty dot runner to paste them onto the paper. I then added swatches of my gold and mini-cross washi tapes to make it look as though I used the washi tape to paste on the pictures. It leaves a more scrapbook-ish feel to it, and I really like it.

Finally, I stuck with my overall simple geometric design and traced some circles onto my weekly spread. Unfortunately, this design was on-the-spot, so I didn’t think about how the first week of the month didn’t contain a full 7 days. But, not to worry, I just cut out a piece of white paper and used some flowery washi tape and my dot runner to stick the paper in the middle of the last three circles and made it into a notes section. I also pasted another cute panda sticker and added some lines and curves to the circles so they didn’t look too plain.
