I might end up writing out my thoughts on the whole of Galaktikon II if there's interest/I feel like losing a day to music listening and speculation (no. please. not that. no.) And regardless of all that -- I do intend to show my hand quite a bit in the pages of Dethkomic yet to come...

But: (cut for those of you who don't want to know. Read on for those who do...)

Lyrics like "show love through it all" in The Ocean Galaktik have me hoping for a Natigail engagement or something. I'm probably dreaming here, but I think love will be a central theme, regardless.

Songs like The Agenda, Could This Be the End, and the very title of Some Days Are for Dying suggest Dethklok is going to have to die in some way. I think this is highly probable, considering all the clues we've been given thus far. Right on back to "Go into the water/Live there/Die there." We'll see how/if they survive.

I think Salacia is a demon-possessed man trying to free himself from a curse. Alternately, I think he might just be powerhungry. I hope he's Charles' dad or related to him in some way.

I think Falconback might have something to do with planetary alignment and "forcing" the Metalocalypse so Salacia maintains the upper-hand in some way. Lines like "weaponizing gravity" seem to hint at this.

I still think we have to build a space helicopter.

And that's about all I have for now. Like I said... I could go through the whole album, but it'd be hella spoilery and also hella long.

So for like... the two of you guys who read this far -- just let me know if you wanna know, I guess. :)

i know theres a theory/headcanon floating around that metalocalypse is just the band retelling the events of the story and embellishing it. and honestly i think the deadface/exitus scene in aotd is so much more satisfying when you consider it a retelling tbh.

i love the movie so dearly but i kind of wished the pacing for all the murderface stuff wasnt so breakneck + that we got more insight into his emotions like the songs in galaktikon 2 showed us. HOWEVER . for aotd i think its much more satisfying/ makes more sense if those scenes are just a retelling and that the band is so raw/traumatized from what they had to do that they dont want to remember or talk about it.

like. murderface wouldnt want to share his emotions/ might not even be able to remember them during that time. the chase scene being so choppy and the lack of talking or audio when theyre drowning murderface and ESPECIALLY after murderface dies. is all just because the band doesnt want to remember or retell all the traumatizing shit they had to do. also the fact that the majority of shots during the scene are from perspectives the band couldnt have seen, with the exceptions of things that would probably be particularly traumatizing, like murderface trying to claw at nathans shirt ect. im not saying it was animated with the intent to be a retelling BUT i just think the scene fits better in that way <3

Do you prefer listening to music via Cd's, cassette, Vinyl or music app?

I've wondered about this a lot myself, honestly, and I really don't have a specific preference. I think it depends on the music in question! my most frequent method of listening to music is with headphones on that block out any outside noise, as kind of a 'security blanket' slash focusing tool, and for that I'm always using a music app, but there are plenty of groups like Fleetwood Mac that just sound so right on vinyl, and soundtracks like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Secret of the Ooze movie soundtrack that feel so extremely nostalgic and comfy on cassette. there was also nothing quite like putting on my first nice pair of headphones and BLARING Evanescence, back when Going Under was one of like four CDs I owned.

I think my ideal scenario would be to somehow swap between all of these options based entirely on my mood, because for heavier and harder stuff like Poppy's later work or Brendon Small's Galaktikon it's really nice being able to hear all the key changes and how everything is mixed, while for stuff like Fleetwood Mac it's nice just letting all the sound naturally kind of wash over me and just pick up whatever happens to catch my ear. for sheer convenience and accessibility I'd have to go with an app just because I don't own as much music on physical media as I'd like yet!

I do!! Metalocalypse is actually how my husband managed to do what so many exes could not and get me listening to metal. :B My baby also is a big fan of Galaktikon because I listened to it a ton while pregnant LOL

Fun story: Initially I really liked Toki because duh. Look at him. When my husband and his friend first introduced me to MTL, I looked up some fan stuff and was confused why everyone seemed to simp so hard for Pickles? I was like, "Why is everyone so horny for Pickles?? He has a dreadlock combover?? What is happening?" And they were like, "Oh yeah no I'd fuck Pickles for sure." And I was like, "!?!?!"

And then I kept watching the show and was like, "oh okay I get it, I would also tap Pickles."

DESPITE MY LOVE FOR THE DRUNK MIDWESTERN BOY.... I will always have a soft spot for Nathan because men who are built like a brick shithouse and paint their nails EXCELLENT. excellent excellent. Also his characterization is just so good and funny to me. The videos of him reading Shakespeare are relentlessly funny to me.

dethmas dec. 17th - visiting the family

here, have this super niche chickles headcanon of mine that i've been playing around with lately. :3c

warren's new wife is named vera. she's 33 and a fellow professor at the university he taught at until his recent retirement. charles dislikes her on principle, but she's actually a really sweet person and loves his dad a lot, which he realizes when his dad takes a tumble trying to fix a burnt-out christmas light. by the end of the trip, charles has tentatively decided he no longer loathes his father. in fact, they have a few really nice conversations about their murky history and the divorce and all that stuff. things feel okay.

about six months after this get-together, he gets a call from his dad out of the blue to tell him he's going to be a big brother. 8') pickles brings him a cheap lamp to break.

As the Metalocalypse movie gets deeper in development (y tambn el concierto q tuvieron) I think about the possible things the movie is going to throw at us.

Obviously super cool metal explosions with a bunch of dead ppl and gore (yummy yummy.) And ughhh a killer soundtrack. Probs going to be one song, but I'm so ready for a new Dethklok song.

Like the Salacia being Charle's dad / copy is a BIG one for me. The show either foreshadowed it or they wanted ro show a clear connection with the two.

Nathan and Abigail. Just like.....a wedding? Or even a normal kiss idk. I expect the movie to at LEAST give me some Nategail.

This sounds super dumb pero skwistok. Gay ships wouldn't have vibed in 2013, but idk I feel like 2020s is a better time for lgbtq relationships in TV shows (at least way more accepted.) And I know that toki and skwisgaars gay vibe was played for laughs, but part of me feels there's something to it. Like when murderface was talking about pp shaped foods fucking skwisgaar says he would put a hotdog in his mouth and *looks* at toki or like when they held hands in DSR. It's like THERES SOMETHING THERE and if it was done with the purpose for jokes or not idk but rn they have the opportunity to take that shit and run. The biggest plot twist for skisgaar's "i sleep with all women and h8 toki" character would be "Oh shit I'm gay/bi/notstraight 4 toki AND sleep with women. "

Ugh murderface character redemption 🤮 I hate murderface but something like that is going to happen and Nathan is going to be in it.

Honestly idk what's going to happen with Pickles. He's either going to retire or fucking destroy his brother. Oh and the mom is going to be there too just don't know how exactly.

For character deaths my money is on Charles, Nathan or Pickles. Um I could be completely off and the whole band dies lmao.

Oh they're going to fight in space at some point. Brandon Small straight up just wants to make Metal Starwars like any other white middle aged metalhead. He's tried to do space stuff with dethklok and [AS] didn't let him or something. He did do Galaktikon so it might be out of his system by now.

I'm really hyped for this movie and I want all my dethklok questions answered ngl. At least show me their powers for real and tell me what those planet thingies are already.

Thinking about Doomstar and the critiques of the guy's reluctance to rescue them.

Why don't we change that to just the guys being terrified and back on what Nathan said about the prophecy "We're not fu🎸g heroes".

So one of the main reasons they don't go is just learned helplessness and fear. Hence the Toki hologram, "I'm afraid the answer is no", and "Partying Around the World".

Well, the premise is given that Charles basically does everything in his power to right the situation, and despite having the best technology, an expert tracker, and a literal effing army, it still fails -- and I think more interestingly -- he is forced to realize he always knew it would.

Charles goes into the prophecy reluctantly, even when we get to Doomstar. Some piece of him doesn't quite believe it, or believes that what must be done could be done by him, better than Dethklok, despite Ishnifus telling him otherwise. When they throw their best guy in the garbage and recover the USB stick from his body, he has to come to grips with that.

So it's for that reason too, that Dethklok denies any responsibility to act in the situation. And who can blame them? They've been living very pampered lives up until that point. Why would they be the ones to save the world? Get someone else to go. Which, I think is exactly the point you are making. :)

This is one of my favorite things to write -- a character's reckoning. I'm a few pages ahead of you guys on @dethkomic and the stuff I'm working on now leads to my own characters' realizations that they might be in the shit a little deeper than they bargained for, when teaming up with these would-be hero dumb-dumbs. And not all of them are excited for it. :D

Will Dethklok "get over it" for the movie? Synopses and Galaktikon lyrics point to... eventually, maybe.

Magnus making an appearance. Either surviving his suicide, returning as a ghost, or in a flashback idk just bring him back.

Everyone’s backstory actually. Backstories are fucking awesome.

Lots and lots of gore, and…adult stuff 😖. Like it makes the other episodes look like Teletubbies in comparison.

Dethklok using their Godly powers.

Murderface going full jealousy mode.

More young Salacia (I think that’s Salacia), dude’s too hot to only appear briefly.

Toki being all angsty over his bandmates taking too long to save him and Abigail.

Toki totally going apeshit and starts killing people.

All Dethklok getting equal amount of screen time.

Dethklok brotherly moments, or should I say…, ho yay moments.

Some bloody good animation, maybe even Disney quality in some parts.

Things I don’t want to see in the Metalocalypse movie.

Abigail being reduced to just being Nathan’s girlfriend. I want her to contribute a lot in the movie.

Poor pacing. One of my problems with Doomstar was the pacing thanks to being crammed to 45 mins. I hope this movie goes over 1 hour and 30 mins.

Story following the same direction as Galaktikon II. I kind of want them to change a bit to make it less predictable . Also… i want it to be less bittersweet 😞

VTMB Surprised the Fledgling Listens to Metal

LaCroix- You seemed to be a quiet soul, and he liked that. Though you knew how to stand up for yourself if you had to, but you also seemed to just be able to go with the flow most of the time. And, when he was the one controlling your said flow he was fine with this. So, when he went to see what music you were listening to when you sat your headphones down he was surprised. He wasn't sure what it was( other than screaming to him), and looking at your phone screen didn't clear anything up for him. That's not even the right way to spell the word; it's Ginger, not Jinger.

Mitnick- When he first saw you, you kind of looked like just an average person, and he assumed that your tastes in things were that way too. So, imagine his surprise when your ringtone went off and it was a Brendon Small song. Like, not even something from the show, it was one of the songs from Galaktikon.

Jack- He and you had to drive somewhere to do something for Nines and you had to take a car to carry something that you needed and you were driving. Now, you were a cheery person for the most part, even on some of your down days, and he mentally groaned when you reached to put in a cd in. Not only was he spending most of his night on an errand, but now he would have to listen to whatever teenie-pop band you just turned on, probably named something stupid like...Slipknot??? Easy to say, he's pleasantly surprised, and won't be complaining. But, now he's curious what else you have up your sleeves.

Beckett- He was looking through your room for something that he had you hold onto for him. He knew that he probably should have just asked you about it, but he was kind of in a hurry and was sure you wouldn't mind. While he was looking he came across a stack of CDs and started looking through them instead. The one that really caught his attention was Slaughter to Prevail. Gives it a try and is perplexed. He can't understand why you enjoy this, but you do so he doesn't question past that.

Andrea- You were just listening to music while you were working on something when Andrea was suddenly standing in the doorway. You were about to apologize because you thought that you might have been playing your stuff too loud when he cut you off. "Who are these people that you are listening to?" "Uh, Ghost?" You show him the cover and he's hooked. Not only does he enjoy the music, but the esthetic is right up his alley. Whenever he's ever done with his lizard look he might take some inspiration from one of the Papa for his facial style.

Heyyy sorry for this being a late response i was busy with college oregon trail!

And of course I always have a ton to share here are just some that have been rotating my head recently like a cat on a roomba-

-Abigail and Pickles did cross paths during the SnB era. Abigail had been working with Pickles' record label as an unpaid intern. Given the time period, she was mainly forced to fetch coffee and food and did little of her actual interning experience. One day as she was fetching coffee, she had noticed one of the recording room lights turned on but the door was ajar, just enough to crack in and see what's happening. She caught a glance to see none other than Pickles in the recording studio, alone, and recording a song. They did make eye contact for just a moment before Abigail was caught and promptly fired. (Mysteriously enough another record label reached out for a paid and actually amazing internship days later though...) They had no way to contact each other but probably did end up meeting once again during one of Dethklok's album release parties.

-After the events of Galaktikon and Doomstar, they open up a crystal shop and music studio down in Portland, Oregon. It's a much quieter life compared to the ones they lived for so many years but it was a very well much deserved peace of quietness.

-Depends on the AU but I like to think Abigail was the one that encouraged Pickles to go to college, he clearly did graduate college back in rehabklok-And Pickles definitely wanted to go to college but doesn't feel he's all that smart enough and he had spent what would be his college years on tour or doing drugs. She had encouraged him to go to college to at least try it out; he graduated in 4 years despite his own addictions with a bachelor's degree in music. He loves learning a lot but despite her encouragement at the time, wouldn't go for a PHD until after Galaktikon-

-And speaking of Rehabklok, Abigail was one of the many people Pickles apologized to for her his final step. They had most likely fallen off once again, most likely after a huge argument sometime before Dethklok became big. He knew she genuinely deserved an apology. He wrote an incredibly long letter to her, but would end up not sending it all because he believed he never deserved her forgiveness in the end and didn't want to hold her back. However, the letter did unknowingly get sent by a well-intentioned nurse who had just assumed he forgot to send it. Abigail would agree to be Dethklok's music producer months later.

-Abigail is Pickles' music producer & manager when he decides to produce his own stuff after Dethklok. It might be a conflict of interest, sure, but only she and Charles can set him straight to actually work on stuff. His side projects do go somewhere but opts for performing at smaller venues because he finds the atmosphere of a smaller venue is a much more welcoming one compared to larger venues. Plus he can easily drag her over to sing a song with the audience.

-During the summer, they go record collecting or go to flea markets and farmers market's on the weekends.

-They had a private wedding, surrounded by their friends, Abigail's family and on Pickles' side, only Amber and her son. He wouldn't break the news to his family at all; Abigail's family was reluctant of him at first but eventually warmed up to him to the point where he didn't really need his parents anymore so he cut them off completely.
