Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival 2020
For ttff/20, the trinidad+tobago film festival has introduced a new category for student filmmakers to encourage and support the early careers of emerging talent. We are delighted to announce the student films in competition for Best Student Film:
ttff/20 Best Student Film: ‘La Pieza de Casseus (The Raging Dance of Casseus),’ directed by Camilo Mejía from the Dominican Republic
The jury notes: “we all found it to be a compelling and relevant story, with a very rhythmic, creative and natural approach. It was the most cohesive in terms of direction, editing, performances, sound, production design, production and emotional impact. We journeyed with Casseus in real and magical realms and it is a journey we would have liked to see continue. Congratulations to Camilo, we hope many others get to see this film and we look forward to seeing what other subjects and realms he will explore in future films.”
Honorable Mention: Carmencita- by Nayibe Tavares-Abel
Films in competition in this category were:
Carmencita, directed by Nayibe Tavares-Abel
Endless Love, directed by Duda Gambogi
Carne e Casca (Meat and Shell), directed by Dani Drumond
La Pieza de Casseus (The Raging Dance of Casseus), directed by Camilo Mejía
Waiting In Strange Times, directed by Kristof West
Wicket, directed by Harsh Khurana
Films are selected for ttff/20 juried competitions by unanimous decisions made by this year’s three programming team members.
ttff/20 is given leading sponsorship by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts Trinidad & Tobago, and contributing sponsorship by Republic Bank Limited, with Shell Trinidad and Tobago supporting ttff/20 industry events.

~Galleryyuhself~ From the Facebook page of Jonathan Ali - Documentary filmmakers! I'm pleased to announce that I've joined the Sheffield Doc/Fest team as a consultant for the Caribbean, and would love to help you bring your current projects to this year's festival, which runs from 4-13 June.
If you have a completed or near-completed film you wish to have considered for the programme, let me know. I'm also looking for projects in development to bring to the MeetMarket, the festival's marketplace and pitching forum for documentary films and series, as well as the Arts Talent Market, for new media and expanded reality projects.
While my focus is on projects from the Caribbean or its diaspora, I'm also happy to help if you have a non-Caribbean project. Email or DM me. And please do share this post with others who might be interested.

~Galleryyuhself~ The Synopsis of the documentary states-: A cautionary tale on internet culture, Feels Good Man is a compelling look at an artist's journey to salvage his creation.
However galleryyuhself sees it as much more. Please have a look at this film if you can. There are many questions to ask and views on free speech and co-opting someone’s art for your own use that future generations must consider as we all continue to find out what the parameters are online for freedom and the violence that can come with it.
