Classic ‘Body Swap’ episode between me and Dabi. 

But instead of us gallyvanting around town to do hijinks, we both feel each other’s emotions and Dabi refuses to get out of bed because of my depression and dysphoria, while I have to comfort him while in his body. 

Dabi: you deal with this every day?!

Me, holding him close: yup

Dabi: why is it hard to breath??

Me: because i’ve been wearing my chest binder for two days straight

And when we finally switch back, he continues to hold me as tight as possible. (And also has me take off my binder.)

while fleshing out tommy's family in the runaway au, i realized everyone has different aesthetics and if you put them side by side their outfits would almost clash.

• shroud usually dress like some pirate/runaway prince despite being a tailor. loose swishy fabric w laces and his bag. it has a sewing kit, small rolls of fabric, and at least one embroidery project

• al always looks like someone kidnapped him in the middle of gardening. big overalls or apron w lots of pockets that he shoves his mini shovel, shears, seeds, and gloves. you also rarely catch him without his straw hat lovingly made by shroud

• evetta either looks like a doll or a herbalist roaming the woods for plants she could use. long skirts and lacy blouses paired w shawls. and of course, sturdy boots. she loves layering clothes despite any weather

• tommy ranges from medieval peasant to regular guy in his day off. some days he's wearing jeans and a sweater, other times he has those old timey shirt w strings and vest. as a blacksmith he also wears apron and gloves much like al. and like his son, he also has a bunch of stuff shove in his pockets lol

Recently stumbled upon your runaway AU and I'm so endlessly fascinated by it. If you ever wanted an excuse to talk about it please feel free to do it here ^-^

Some vague questions I have:

I was wondering, does Tommy still have contact with Tubbo and such, or has he completely left the past behind him?

Can you talk more about Evetta and Tommy, I'd love to know about how they got to know each other. Was opening up hard for Tommy after all the hurt he's been through, or did it come back to him easily?

And how did Tommy's past impact the way he raised Al and Shroud?

i'm so sorry for the late response op! i'm so glad you like this au, its a bit special to me ajdjskskla. i originally planned to draw some of the answers but i don't have the time just yet so i hope i can give some good answers instead ^-^

• i don't see ctommy willingly moving on from his past nor losing contact with tubbo, but alas, i haven't fleshed out that part yet. from the land itself (a specific person), sure, but he has a harder time letting go of the people, even if it was just the good memories he has of them. he wouldn't be ctommy otherwise i think.

• there was a tiny little draft of a 5+1 one shot of evetta and tommy i wanna write to explore how these two would get closer. the five times tommy got hurt and had to go to evetta and the one time he didn't have to, but it might take a while before i got the motivation ajjxdnksms

And yes, tommy would totally have a harder time opening up bc how can he explain half of what he went through without sounding insane or utterly pathetic? and he doesn't want to burden them yk? these people who he began to slowly, reluctantly, care about. they don't deserve the burden of his issues.

• tommy flat out refused to see himself as shroud's parent at first lol. tbh any label that implied some sort of guardianship over shroud scared him a lot since its such a big responsibility. he has a lot of hangups and thoughts about being a role model, someone that can be looked up to. in a fit of stubborness, he refuses to outwardly acknowledge his relationship with shroud despite literally raising the kid. up until he can't deny it anymore and is abt to cause irreperable damage to them both. thankfully, evetta was there to literally knock sense to tommy and make him see how he's hurting himself and shroud.

tommy's more welcoming to the idea of parenthood by the time they had al thanks to shroud and evetta's efforts. except as al grew older and their similiarities became more obvious, tommy has a hard time looking at him and quite literally see his own face mirrored back. which he unsuccessfully tried to hide. so despite al and tommy wanting to be closer, there was a distance that neither could breach for different reasons. al ending up in the dsmp was the catalyst for them to close that gap.

yk i think what stands out the most in fontaine's archon quest is the tension between the characters. the stakes for everyone involved is simply higher and not just bc the nation is abt to be dissolve but also bc of how different factions are w their own agenda and are actively making steps in achieving it, thus inevitably coming into conflict w each other. the resulting confrontation is amazing to see
