Mount Augustus, Gascoyne region, Western Australia, 1,274 km north of Perth
While Uluru (Ayers Rock) in the heart of the Australian outback stands as one of the most recognizable landmarks globally, Mount Augustus, (Burringurrah) stands as the largest monocline on Earth. A monocline is a geological formation where a single rock layer is folded or bent, resulting in a steep, unbroken line.
Mount Augustus stretches approximately 8 kilometers (5 miles) in length, more than twice the length of Uluru, and soars to a height of 858 meters (2,818 feet) above sea level, making it even higher than Uluru's 348 meters (1,142 feet).
