I. part of "The Knight-Paladin Alphabet Headcanons"

I am creating headcanons for the Knight-Paladin Gelebor right here. Warning, there will be NSFW ones too, though way later (they aren't there yet).

Here are a 2 letters from the first chapter:

G — Grief — How do they process grief?

It is said that Auri-El could do naught but teach the Elvenfolk to suffer with dignity.

This paraphrase might not completely fall in line with the Falmer doctrines of faith, but the theme of being ennobled by martyrdom is common, starting with the very initiation to enlightenment undertaken in the pilgrimages to the Chantry of Auri-El.

True to his beloved culture, perhaps even influenced by it, he tends to mourn quietly. The Knight-Paladin seldom weeps openly. He harbors no desire for pity, for he believes a guardian ought to remain silent about his own sorrows. To impose his emotions upon another strikes him not only as inappropriate but profoundly selfish.

Therefore, he does not showcase the level of hurt he's under — a subtle display of melancholy at most. To be exact, he refrains from presenting strong emotions whatsoever, whether they're positive, negative or ambivalent.

K — Knowledge — Do they like learning new things? Do they possess any piece of wisdom unknown to others, or is perhaps forbidden?

Needless to say, he possesses boundless knowledge of the old ways and Nirn from the dawn of the First Era, which would prove a miraculous source of information for today's scholars but probably not to anyone else. He is willing to share everything about the functioning of the Snow Elven Empire, Falmeri Pantheon, Falmereth’s traditions and convenances. He doesn’t necessarily have any forbidden knowledge, he has always strayed far from all wicked branches of magic (unlike him …).

He loves learning new things, always intently listening to any intel from adventurers if they would ever want to share a piece of their wisdom with him. The few books he took with him to the Darkfall Cave he reread countless times and on rare occasions a soul would graze him with new information about the outside world. Bit by bit, he learned of the change of the end of Atmorans’ active slaughtering of the Snow Elves, Chimer to Dunmer transformation, the disappearance of the Dwemer, the Oblivion crisis… 

If the Dragonborn would allow him so, he would politely inquire about all interesting questions that would pop in his mind on a guard for centuries. To be frank, any new information would be fascinating to him. Socioeconomic news, geopolitical landscape, developments in technology, or something about culture and arts — all he will lap up with utmost attention.

There are, of course, certain facts he is better off without being aware of. He certainly would fare far more peacefully without being notified about the existence of such pieces of art like “The Slaying of the Falmer Princes” or “Conquest of the Falmer”... Only Auri-El knows how the stoic Knight-Paladin might react to those obscene literary works.

Lord, help him if he discovers Brynjolf’s gig as a salesman.

“Who is this scholar again?” The dragonborn said behind Serana, the walk to Winterhold becoming tiring as more snow continued to fall. 

“Don’t call her that to her face, friend. She doesn’t take kindly to titles.” The vampire rubbed her arms before continuing. “She was a friend of my mother’s, she is our best hope if we want to find her.” 

“And she lives in Winterhold of all places? Couldn’t she choose a warmer environment? Preferably with less snow?” She grunted as she stumbled, the snow piling at her feet making it difficult to walk; especially with the fur boots she was wearing. She had discarded her normal light attire for something warmer and therefore heavier; she didn’t appreciate the extra weight. Despite being the dragonborn, she wasn’t very muscular and apart from stolen goods and purses full of coin, she couldn’t carry much. Serana came to know this information some time after they began travelling together in search of the elder scrolls and needless to say, she wasn’t amused. 

“She is rather peculiar. I remember when she would come visit us, she would be completely in tune with the icy weather of the castle despite not being a vampire.” Serana sighed in relief as Winterhold finally came into view, the lanterns outside the tavern becoming a beacon to the pair. “I’m guessing it’s because she’s an elf. Elves are very resistant to harsh weather.” 

“I’m an elf” 

“You’re a disgrace.” 

“I’m the dragonborn, I can shout you across the gorge.” They stepped onto the tavern's porch, shaking snow from their hair and taking off their masks. Serana's scoff was soon replaced by a sigh as warmth of the tavern enveloped her; even as a vampire Winterhold's cold was punishing. 

"I'm choosing to ignore your threat in favor of our mission." Making their way to the bar, they paid for two rooms and warm meals and took a seat at one of the nearby tables. The moment the streaming bowl of vegetable soup was placed in front of them, they dug in ignoring the burn of the liquid on their tongues. 

"What's her name? You never mentioned." 

"Vivienne. No last name, just Vivienne." 

"A walking mystery, I see. This is going to be a long trip." 

A/N: Gelebor I love him so much and I think he deserves both a love story and a companion so here we are.... this will be as canon friendly as possible there will be some changes however (bc Bethesda’s story is kinda idk how to put it...illogical and I also simp for Vyrthur) I hope yall like it. You stepped out from the inside of the remaining sanctum to the balcony outside. Familiar, pale sunlight flooding onto your skin. 

“Hello!” You chimed, a grin spreading across your expression as Gelebor turned from his perch against the railing to meet you, beaming lovingly in return.

“Ah! I was wondering when you’d visit again.” He folded his lips warily, his gaze darting from side to side nervously. “I… I missed you.” 

Your heart couldn’t help but melt at the comment, pressing a chaste kiss between his brows. “I missed you too! Look, I even brought you some things!”

You revealed the bag you carried over your shoulder, opening its flap to reveal his favorite gifts from you.  

Books. 

Stories of your world today always seemed to fascinate the elf, able to spend hours sifting through the pages to soak up each and every detail of what might be out there beyond his eternal home. 

He lit up at the sight of them, scrambling through it the very instant you set down the bag before him, a rare gentle laugh escaping him. 

“These… these are wonderful! I can’t wait to read them.” 

You rocked back and forth on the balls of your feet, tipping your head from side to side in a sort of mischevious consideration. 

“Well you know… you’d be able to learn a lot more if you went with me out there.”

“What? In Skyrim?” He paused, eyes widening like saucers. “You know I can’t do that. I’ve sworn to protect the Vale.” 

“I’m the only person who’s found this place in centuries!” You exclaimed, frowning. “I-I know how important the Vale is to you but… imagine all that you could see – all that we could see!” 

“I made an oath to Auri-El I won’t abandon that obligation.” He wrapped a ginger hand around your cheek, his shoulders dropping. “Please, you have to understand that.” 

“I-I know but-” You sighed, wrinkling your nose. “just imagine the life we could have out there!” 

“Out there it’s crowded and dangerous,” He remarked, moving a few messy strands of hair behind your ear. “Here? It’s just you and me. We’re safe – you’re safe.” 

“You’re proposing I stay here?” 

“The Vale is beautiful – you said it yourself when you first came here,” He grinned. “This could be our home! Imagine all the things we could do! Why there are parts you haven’t even seen! I could show you now!” 

For once he seemed to light up like a child, parting from you to take you someplace else within the caverns. 

He only stopped when he found you weren’t following in return.

“Aren’t… aren’t you going to join me…?” 

“Gelebor I…” You hesitated, watching his face fall with a sad sort of knowing. “I can’t stay here. You know that.” 

“Why…?” He questioned, barely there. 

“There are people out there who need my help. I have family and friends and I can’t just drop all of that or abadon them.” 

You stepped forward to him, hardly more than an inch between the two of you. 

“You have your duties, I have mine.” 

He seemed almost frozen for a time, the miserable realization finally sinking in.

And so, he embraced you. 

He ivied his arms around you like it’d be a tragedy to ever let go you, whispering gently to you a secret he’d never dare admit to anyone else. 

“I don’t want to be alone.” 

You allowed yourself to sink against him, holding onto him warmly. 

“You don’t have to be, I’m right here.” 

You offered him a smile, your words giving him a true and honest hope. 

“And I’ll always come back.”

Self-indulgence of a touch-starved Snow Elf

I wrote a smut fic on AO3 with the pairing Gelebor/Female Nord (it's basically a Reader-insert) and I'm sharing some snippets here

“…how do… you know Falmeris?” he couldn't help but inquire, his curiosity piqued by this unexpected revelation. Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment, her earlier confidence waning.

"I'm sorry, I don't actually know it. Just memorized some words." as he regarded her with a puzzled expression once more, she elaborated on her encounters with scholars who endeavored to compile a dictionary containing the remnants of ancient Falmer preserved in scrolls and ancient texts.

“…So you just memorized it?” he exclaimed in disbelief. The language of his ancestors had vanished millennia ago. It was a peculiar twist of fate to encounter someone who possessed even a fragmentary knowledge of it.

She regards him with a lingering gaze, and he finds himself ensnared in the depths of her eyes. How long has it been since he last beheld such warmth and invitation in another's gaze?

Caught off guard, Gelebor's eyes widen as the Nord woman draws near, her soft lips meeting his own. A surge of warmth emanates from the point of contact, spreading through his body like wildfire. His heart quickens its pace within his chest, the rhythm resounding in his ears as time seems to momentarily halt.

II. part of "The Knight-Paladin Alphabet Headcanons"

I am still creating headcanons for the Knight-Paladin Gelebor right here. Warning, there will be NSFW ones too, though way later (they aren't there yet). There are some mentions of self-harm right now, though.

Here are 2 letters from the second chapter:

O — Office — What is their job, what duties they have, what privileges and licenses they have?

Each Paladin must be ordained with the most basic holy orders, allowing them to officiate wedding ceremonies and conduct funeral services. The head of the Chantry’s Paladins is permitted to bless mer, men and beastfolk without an occasion and celebrate Mass, though Knight-Paladins only perform these sacraments if no other priest of Auri-El is available, particularly during missions with other Paladins away from the operating sanctuary. Members of the security branch of the Chantry of Auri-El are not required to take oaths of celibacy, but the sacred atmosphere of the temple strongly encourages everyone to abstain from sexual relationships. The absence of villages in the immediate vicinity prevents the Paladins from meeting potential partners to settle down with. Consequently, when it is time for their retirement, they often choose to assume the role of a priest and officially take a vow of chastity.

His duties as a Knight-Paladin are simple at their core: he is required to patrol the sacred grounds, defend the holy site from encroachment and defilement, and assist stationing Prelates if needed. When alone, Gelebor has a habit of quietly singing hymns dedicated to Auri-El or gentle melodies, sometimes even without realizing it. His voice is soft and reverent, and it helps him maintain his spiritual connection during his long hours of solitude.

In moments of restlessness, he compulsively tidies up his surroundings, even if his camp or the Chantry just has been cleaned. Should he share a living space with a companion who happens to be a bit disorganized, he would quietly take it upon himself to tidy up after them, as long as their messiness remains within reason.

He tends to monologue in his head, creating rich descriptions, observations and recollections. This habit not only helps him stave off boredom but also ensures he maintains his fluency and elegance in both Falmeris and the Common Tongue, despite the scarcity of new books to read.

The snow crunched, melting quickly beneath his feet, fresh clumps sticking to his soles with every step. To trek through the snow wasn’t easy for most, but it was instinctual for him, the path well taken by past initiates, ghosts guiding his every move. He didn’t need to look, instead his soul guided him safely, eyes closed, the fading memories of life seeping into his being as he walked.

How he wished it wasn’t all ancient history. How he wished he wasn’t a relic of the past. He wanted them to come home. His people.

His heavy sigh clouded in the cold.

He reached the wayshrine, gazing at it solemnly, mouth turned down. It was fading, stone stained and grass growing higher than it should ever be allowed, nature attempting to claim it the way she did all forgotten things. He dropped slowly to his knees, his joints objecting the straining movement, and began to pluck the weeds, the tall blades, till he felt the shrine was safe.

He was there for hours without even realising, the sun rising to its peak. Time meant far less to him now than it once did.

Only when the surrounding ground was littered with severed weeds did he finally rest back on his heels, observing the ring of muddied snow his presence had cleared. He finally noticed the dampness at his knees, the water soaking through his trousers to his skin.

He regarded the entryway, the glowing, shimmering portals allowing him glimpses to the other shrines, and he realised that they shimmered with life.

His thoughts drifted to his own wayshrine, tucked away in his cave, ignited with the same life he’d assumed was lost to the ages.

All because of them.

He smiled, content to bask in these brief feelings of optimism.

It gave them time to catch up, to fill the area with their energy and excite the lingering ghosts.

“Can’t tell if you’re praying or if you’re stuck down there.”

“Hm, perhaps it’s a bit of both? Perhaps neither.”

They knelt beside him; arm pressed to his.

“So, you are contemplating, deeply I take it from those delightful wrinkles.”

Their playful shove made him click his tongue in annoyance, faux it was, given away by the blush blooming on his high cheekbones.

“You need not point out my age further, seeing you everyday reminds how far behind me my youth lies.”

“I’m not that young, besides, you know I like ancient things, that’s why I love exploring ruins so much.”

His lips wobbled in maintaining his scowl.

“I’m going to choose to cling to the compliment concealed withing that statement and ignore the comparison of me to a ruin.”

“Good, that was my intention, you know I’m not the best flirt, but I am the better cook – Mr. I’ve lived off cave shrooms for the last millennium.”

He regarded their extended hand, taking it to alleviate the stress upon his joints as he rose.

“Show some respect to your elders.”
