Karlo Piketerror was born into a union of an orcish father (Toma Piketerror) and human mother (Landress Lovegood). His father was the clan leader of a small orcish village, and his mother was the head of a large and successful crime ring that spans the continent. Karlo was raised a barbarian with his father until he passed away when Karlo was in his early teens, and feeling not at home in the woods, he travelled to the city to work for his mother and joined the family business of organized crime, illegal bounty hunting, and drugs.

Starting out as a simple drug runner for his mother and her associates, eventually the time came to hunt a bounty for to prove himself, someone who had wronged the Bladed Eye Crime Family. And Karlo did it. He was good at it. So good at it that he rose up the ranks, acquiring a large sum of wealth himself, and living in avarice and gluttony. His job was to capture and kidnap people that he was hired to, and deliver them to other criminals for them to decide their fate.

Karlo arrived at his home late one night and found a note with the details of his next job, saying he was to capture the daughter of an associate to the Family who bore witness to one of their higher end crimes. He gathered up his partners and fellow Bounty Hunters, Minerva Bloodhoof the Minotaur Warlock, and Boldrick Ghoulbane the Dwarvish Assassin, and made their way to the home of the target. Upon breaking into the home, they found themselves in the room of a small golden Dragonborn girl, no more than twelve. Not being able to find it in himself to turn in an innocent girl to whatever fate the crime family would have for her, and knowing the bloodthirsty nature of his companions, he knocked the two of them unconscious and fled to the woods nearby. He learned the girl’s name to be Arianna.

He spend the autumn keeping her safe and living in the forest, until he became concerned in his ability to protect her during the winter with his inexperience in the ways of the wild. Theo of them managed to find a family of druidic wood elves that promised to keep her safe, but could not care for them both. The wood elves prayed for Karlo to walk with the gaze of their god to keep him safe, and he set out to find his own way in the world before becoming caught in a blizzard and forced to settle in a cave for shelter. As he huddled in the cold all alone, he felt his life slipping away from him as he succumbed to over exposure.

But then Karlo wasn’t alone in the cave. Something kept him from passing over. A warm radiant energy, filled with the essence of the forest around him. A being of nature, a kind old man with young eyes and a cloak of shifting vegetation came to him, revealed itself as Katay, the god of Decay and the Inevitability of nature, and offered a deal. The god would revive him in the spring, but he would have to atone for his sins and follow in the tenets of Katay. Karlo agreed to serve the God, and promised to repay them by becoming a force of nature itself, and bringing the inevitable end and decay to those that do harm to the world and the people in it. The diety disappeared with a nod and playful grin, And told Karlo to enjoy his rest.

When spring arrived, he awoke by coughing up a large pile of flower petals soaked in blood. He felt his soul reenter his body, and with it, the presence of a holy aura and connection to the trees and plants around him. As he moved his body, he tugged at the vines and moss that had encased him during his time in the cave. He rose from where he was seated and broke his natural bindings, and pushed aside the ivy having covered the entrance to the cave, when the morning light glints against a metallic object in the cave with him. A spear, natural and intricate, lay at his feet. As he picked it up, he felt the touch of Katay he felt before, and he set out to keep his end of the deal with the nature god, and to enforce the rules of nature. Karlo will be the strong, and those who do wrong will know that the strong survive.
