Summary: It was obvious that you were (G)I-DLE's precious baby that they cared about a lot so it wasn't a surprise when they always had an eye on you, especially to keep you away from guys.

3rd's POV

The award shows were always an interesting experience for you. Not only you were able to watch your other fellow artists perform on stage, you had a chance to win some awards and thank your fans but also you could talk and make new friends there. The more stressful side of them were definitely stares from your older members, especially when you interacted with male idols.

In their eyes no one was deserving of you, every idol who approached you was always not good enough in their eyes and the fact that they thought you were too young to date didn't helped. You never understood that, being only one year younger that Shuhua you thought that you were old enough to make your own decisions about dating but not in your members eyes.

"Guys where is Y/N?" Soyeon looked around not being able to find you until Minnie pointed at in the direction of Stray Kids table that was close to theirs. Somehow you managed to sneak from them and to Stray Kids's table and now you were having fun singing with them. Soyeon also noticed how close Hyunjin seemed to be to you and she didn't liked that but unfortunately she couldn't do much from her position so she signaled to Yuqi to join you and the guys and keep an eye on you.

Yuqi did as she was told and soon she was next to you also singing to cover up the way she pulled you a little away from Hyunjin who seemed a little disappointed. After some time Hyunjin tried to hold your hand under the table but Yuqi did it before him causing you to give her a look that she pretended not to notice. You looked between her and your other members who kept glancing your way and it annoyed you. You loved them but it annoyed you how overprotective they were. You were an adult after all, you could handle yourself.

Soon your group won one of the main awards causing you to walk up to the stage to make a speech. When you were speaking camera showed Hyunjin watching you with a lovestruck expression on his face, noticing the camera he looked down embarrassed as his members laughed, patting his back. You smiled but from the corner of your eye you noticed the glares he got from your members.

After the show you made your members sit down as you glared at them "What was all that about?" You asked them, your voice clearly showing how serious you were. None of them looked you in the eye because no matter how much they denied it, you scared them sometimes. Taking initiative of talking for them Soyeon spoke up "We tried to save you from all the dating rumors but it's probably too late now" You looked at her with an expression that screamed that's a bullshit "We all know it wasn't that. You guys just wanted to prevent me from getting his number. Listen I love you guys but I'm an adult, I know what I'm doing. You need to trust me more when it came to dating" They all looked down as the guilt sank in, they knew you were right but they couldn't help it sometimes. You were always their baby and it was hard getting used to you being an adult.

With a smirk you turned around "Fortunately I did got his number" And with that sentence a hell broke loose as the members started groaning and complaining still not fond of the idea of you dating but they had no choice but to trust you.

so you let it slide, deciding to inquire about it later at home.

the rest of the drive home was quiet, but not tense or unpleasant. minnie would shift now and then, squeezing your hand for reassurance, which you would return, but nothing more.

when you arrived, you assisted her out of the car and into the safety of your shared home, while holding the bag of food in your other hand.

"do i need to fight anyone, my love?"

minnie opened her mouth, but quickly closed it again. she didn't know how to tell you. she wanted to, but her negative thoughts were taking over. what if you didn't want to kiss her? minnie looked like a fish to you as she opened her mouth only to close it again, her brow furrowed.

you waited patiently, coaxing her through it with your thumb caressing her cheek and your other hand running up and down her side, squeezing now and then.

"min-ah, it's just me. you can tell me anything, you know that right?" you whispered softly.

minnie gulped. "i know. i just…"

"here, come here."

you escorted minnie to the couch and assisted her in sitting. as you adjusted the plush pillows behind her, your hand rested on her thigh, caressing the skin. minnie was watching you nervously.

you were close.

she had you this close before, but her internal conflict caused her to panic. she could smell your familiar comforting perfume, as well as the shampoo you used this morning, and your face was focused as you fixed everything so she could feel the most comfort she deserved and needed.

suddenly, her hand shot out to grab your hand, causing you to come to a halt. because you were leaning over her to reach the pillows, she was now staring up at you.

you sat back down, noticing minnie's shoulders sag or the look of disappointment on her face. you frowned and took the hand that was holding your wrist.

"i'm worried, minnie. what's the matter, baby?"

minnie took a breath and looked you in the eyes again, but this time there was determination and courage. the next few words she said had your eyes widening in surprise and a pink tint covering your cheeks.

"the girls were... asking as to whether or not we had kissed."

you panicked. what if the girls stopped liking you for their thai member? what if they get mad if you try to kiss her?

that made you inhale a large amount of air, which made minnie laugh. at first, there was silence as you stared at each other. while you waited for your girlfriend to tell you more, minnie was waiting for you to realize what she meant. 

she didn't want to say it out loud, and she knew you were smart enough, but it was taking you a while because you were just staring at her. your mind processed the information slowly as you gazed at minnie's pretty face, which she blushed at because it was painfully obvious.

thankfully, you realized a solid minute later and your eyes widened, the pink across your cheeks becoming more prominent.

"you… want to kiss me?" you queried carefully.

minnie nodded, smiling shyly. "yes, i do. do you? it's okay if you don't want to—"

"are you crazy?!" you accidentally yelled and minnie stared at you, wide-eyed. you cleared your throat, squeezing her hand in assurance. "sorry. i mean, i do. i want to kiss you."

relief flooded through minnie and she finally let out a breath. "then why haven't you?"

you glanced elsewhere. "i'm… not sure if you want me to."

minnie chuckled. "you're crazy, too."

"i guess we both are."

you already knew why minnie hadn't kissed you yet; she was too shy. you knew this confrontation required a great deal of courage, so you were proud of her for telling you. then you remembered her red face and the girls' teasing grins back in the dorms. so that's why, you thought.

even so, there was still a nagging doubt in the back of your mind.

you shared a laugh and there was a pause before you managed to convince yourself to lean in. minnie held her breath as your face came to a halt an inch ahead of hers. she glanced down at your lips, gulping nervously, before her eyes bounced back to your eyes.

"may i?"

minnie's heart fluttered when you asked for her consent again, even though she had just told you about it. you always asked for it and she knew you'd never get tired inquiring about it, and minnie would also never stop giving you a 'yes.'

when she gave you a firm nod, you bridged the gap.

the kiss was hesitant at first because you were still figuring out what minnie liked and disliked. minnie's face was flushed as her lips moved slowly in sync with yours, eyes shut at the foreign yet comforting sensation. she couldn't focus on anything but your lips as the zoo in both of your stomachs were celebrating loudly. 

they were as soft as she had imagined.

you had kissed her, of course. on the cheeks, forehead, nose, hair, hand, and shoulders. but it was still strange in a good way and very different having your lips softly dance with hers.

your lungs screamed for air, so you reluctantly pulled away from your girlfriend, the thai immediately chasing after your lips and stopping when you laughed quietly. your eyes were half-lidded as you watched minnie pant heavily, eyes closed and lips slightly ajar.

minnie opened her eyes and hummed, still in a daze, glancing at your grinning lips. "good, amazing. i love it."

as a way of comforting her, the hand placed on her thigh tapped continuously on her skin. minnie placed one hand on it, causing you to pause your ministrations and look at her. you smiled and drew her close. minnie followed your lead hesitantly, but stopped when she realized you were bringing her to your lap.

"are you sure?" minnie asked, blushing slightly.

you laughed. "as long as you don't mind, baby."

you peered through the window, scanning the people inside, and they gave you friendly looks despite the fact that they were in the middle of a discussion. this was not your first visit to their classroom; it was the nth time and you were already acquainted with them. you returned their smiles and then noticed miyeon and minnie waving at you. you waved your fingers before backing up against the opposite wall to wait.

this was your routine: whenever you had a free period, you'd pick up miyeon and minnie, who were always together because they were blockmates. when miyeon had free time, she would wait with her friends. she wanted to pick you up, but you insisted on making her wait with her friends because you didn't want her to be kept waiting for too long.

"you're staring."

miyeon, who had been staring at you from her seat, jumped in surprise and turned to face the grinning thai. miyeon opened her mouth to deny it, but minnie raised her brows. as her best friend—well, other best friend because you were the best friend—the thai knew better than that.

miyeon returned her gaze to the professor, but couldn't help but glance back at you. even from a distance, you look amazing in that uniform. how could she not look at you? minnie caught the look miyeon threw at you and giggled into her palm, causing miyeon's cheeks to flush. minnie couldn't tease her any further because the professor had spoken up again, the only words they both understood the entire class.

"class dismissed."

at that, miyeon shot up from her seat and bolted, leaving the cackling thai behind. you looked up from your phone as the door swung open, revealing a red-faced miyeon.

"you okay there?" you asked, confused.

miyeon nodded, giving you a smile that vanished when minnie walked out the door while laughing loudly. when she looked at the thai, her blush intensified, causing you to raise your brow at the scene before you. 

huh? are they…? 

you remained silent as you watched them smack each other, but your gaze lingered more on miyeon. you could hear and feel your heart breaking as it fell. pathetic. you scoffed quietly and turned away, but miyeon heard and pushed minnie off of her, clinging to your arm.

"come on, the girls must be waiting."

however, on the way out, miyeon wondered why you made that noise and took a look at you, but you were avoiding her gaze. you stared ahead, remaining silent, and only responded to minnie when she spoke directly to you. does she like minnie? miyeon furrowed her brows at the thought and averted her gaze to the floor. 

minnie turned around after hearing no response to see you two avoiding each other, but miyeon still had her hand wrapped around your arm. the thai, as innocent as ever, shrugged and led the way out quietly.

you met up with the other girls and walked home. yuqi and shuhua immediately began ranting about that one annoying professor, but they chastised you three for your tardiness. you simply raised your brow at shuhua, who was glaring at you after turning around, and you poked her side, causing her to jump away from your touch.

miyeon, who was watching the interaction from the corner of her eye, unconsciously pulled you closer to her. you tried to ignore the way your heartbeat sped up in response to the action as you cast a glance at her, but she was busy talking to soyeon.

it didn't take long for miyeon to notice you were quiet, perhaps too quiet. you could be loud and quiet when you wanted to, but you weren't speaking at all right now. so she dropped her conversation with soyeon and bumped her hips with you, drawing your attention from the cars passing by.

"a penny for your thoughts?" miyeon teased.

you chuckled. "my thoughts are worth more than a penny."

miyeon was relieved to hear that sound erupting from your throat; even if it was strained, she had succeeded in making you laugh. miyeon pouted up at you and your face flushed at her cute expression, eyes darting down her lips. miyeon didn't miss it, but she pretended to, telling herself it was just an illusion created by her mind to compensate for the lack of interaction between you two.

"for me?"

you flicked her forehead, causing the girl to yelp. you averted your gaze, a flush on your cheeks, and cleared your throat to compose yourself. "for you."

the firm tone made miyeon's pout bigger, but you merely laughed. she pulled away from you and crossed her arms after smacking your arm, causing you to flinch away from her while holding your injured arm.

"ow, what the hell?" you blinked at the still pouting girl, but she looked away. "that's for not telling me."

you watched her for a moment, watching her sulk, thinking the girl was absolutely adorable. she was supposed to be the oldest, so why is she behaving like a child? you laughed and put your arm around her shoulders.

"come on now, stop pouting." you assured and she looked at you, and the pout still present caused you to sigh. "it's nothing, okay? just my backlogs."

miyeon grimaced at the mention of it, and you laughed, knowing she had hers as well, if not more than you. "don't ever mention it again."

"alright. i won't, i won't."

the girls gradually separated as they arrived at their respective homes; shuhua was the first to be dropped off, followed by soyeon and yuqi, until it was just you and miyeon. you walked in silence this time and miyeon didn't mind because she was content with the feel of your arm around her.

when you looked at her, she was already looking, and both of you turned your heads away, blushing profusely. but because you were both focused on something else, you both missed it.

when you arrived at her house, miyeon seemed reluctant to let you go, so you pulled away first. "i'll see you tomorrow?"

despite the loss of your familiar warmth, miyeon nodded. "let's work on our backlogs together?" she suggested, but she was afraid you'd say no even though she knew you wouldn't.

so she was relieved when you gave her a nod, giddy as well. you moved closer to her, wrapping her in an embrace that she eagerly returned. you both enjoyed each other's warmth, but before you decided to stay in her arms, you pulled away, missing the disappointment on her face once more, and bid her one last goodbye before walking away.

it was miyeon's turn to have the free period the next day, and she decided to pick you up this time. she was aware that you would scold her, but she was too excited for your "backlog-catch up," as you called it. the girls tagged along because they had nothing better to do, teasing their poor friend about the fact that it was a date.

"did you just ask y/n unnie out on a date?" soyeon, surprisingly enough, was the one to open the topic.

miyeon almost gave herself whiplash as she turned to face soyeon, who was grinning, and shook her head frantically. yuqi's eyes lit up from next to her, and she knew she was doomed to be the target of the teasing for the next few days.

"no way! did unnie really?" yuqi turned to soyeon and received a nod, causing the chinese to squeal and shake miyeon, who kept flailing her arms in the air. "no, no! it's not a date!"

minnie ooh'ed. "miyeon got some rizz~!"

"i'm surprised y/n unnie got the message at all." even if you weren't there, shuhua sassed you, implying that you were an idiot. yes, the pale girl claims to despise you, but that is her love language.

miyeon gave her a disapproving look, not liking the implication of her sassy remark for you. shuhua ignored the older girl and pointed to your classmates, who were already leaving the room. miyeon decided to leave the pale girl alone for the time being, yuqi leaning over to tell shuhua how protective miyeon is of you, and went to the now-open door, spilling your classmates. 

when she didn't see you, she frowned. she was about to ask one of your classmates, but then she realized what day it was.

miyeon turned around and the girls questioned her because they didn't see you appear over her shoulders like you usually do. 

the eldest offered an apologetic smile. "well, it seems that y/n/n is at work right now."

miyeon began leading them outside and the girls followed her like lost puppies. "i forgot she had work today and she must've forgotten as well because she carelessly agreed to my offer." miyeon explained before shuhua could sass you again, in which she sent a look towards the pale girl, making her mutter in disagreement.

miyeon, being the sweetheart that she is, tried not to show her displeasure with the situation, but the girls saw right through her.

"pay her a visit." minnie said and shrugged when miyeon looked at her. "just a suggestion."

that's how miyeon ended up in front of the coffee shop where you work. she tried to refuse the girls', minnie's, suggestion, but the others claimed it as theirs as well, and she went to walk home, but they teamed up on her and dragged her there.

there's no way my ship isn't going to sail, everyone thought, including shuhua. she might hate your ass, but you're the best of miyeon's admirers, who were mostly men, which is why she prefers you.

she peered inside and saw you right away, a smile on her face as she watched you crouching down to hand a tissue to a small child. she laughed as she watched you wave back to the child before returning around the counter. you had a bright smile on your face, despite being stressed out because thursday is a busy day for the coffee shop for unknown reasons, and she still thought you were pretty.

she then noticed your coworker nudging you, whispering something in your ear, and pointing at her. miyeon panicked when you looked at her and almost ran away, but she complied after you waved her in.

the sweet aroma of coffee welcomed her, and the sound of people chattering in the background entered her ears, the coffee machines behind you making noise as your coworkers manipulated them.

"hey." you greeted as you leaned against the counter to match her height, looking pretty apologetic. "sorry, i forgot it's thursday. when you asked, i thought it was still tuesday, so i agreed. i couldn't tell you because i needed to get here quickly and my phone died."

that wasn't the only reason, of course. you agreed because it was miyeon. there was no way you could say no to her. you also left out the part where you panicked at her question.

miyeon waved away your apology and gave you a sweet smile. "i forgot, too."

you took a look at the table you had reserved for her in case she knew where to find you. it appears that you did a good job there; being best friends has its advantages. you tried your hardest to ignore the fact that you were just best friends, as much as it hurt.

maybe thank the girls for dragging her here as well. but she would've gone anyway. the moment she gets home, she'd probably regret being there without seeing you at all even if she knew what you were doing and run back.

"you can do your backlogs there if you'd like?" you offered with a hopeful smile.

miyeon looked over and saw how it was the ideal location for both you and her. she could easily see you from there, and you could see her from your vantage point at the corner. so miyeon smiled and leaned over the counter, throwing her arms over your shoulders before walking away. you stood there, frozen, your heart racing as if you had witnessed a jump scare that had sent you to the gates of hell.

your coworker had to nudge you out of your gay panic. "panic later, serve now." he playfully said and you slapped his back, but did as told.

miyeon worked on her backlogs all afternoon and into the late hours of the night, but she made sure to check in on you. she was worried because people kept coming in and you were almost running around, but you were still smiling, albeit a little breathless, so she figured you'd be fine. she tried her hardest to concentrate on her own work, but she kept looking at the counter where you were standing.

you looked stunning. white long sleeves, a brown apron tied around your waist and hung around your neck, hair pinned back to keep it from tickling your nose because she knew you were ticklish.

if she could, she'd storm over and kiss you.

you were doing exactly what miyeon was doing. from the counter, i was also admiring her. when you had a moment to yourself, you would look over at her, silently watching her write on paper or type on her keyboard. your counter partner had to nudge you because you were staring too hard, saying she'd melt into a puddle if you kept it up. you would simply roll your eyes and then attend to the customer who had just entered or assist the others with the drinks themselves.

you walked over to her table at some point during the night and placed her favorite cake and drink on the smallest space of her table. as you sat down in front of miyeon, she looked up at you with sparkling eyes and you smiled.

"for me?"

you nodded. "for you."

you watched as she dug into the cake, which is understandable given that she had been working for hours and hadn't eaten anything since class ended. when you laughed, miyeon looked at you with a puzzled expression.

you shook your head. "you're so clumsy. here."

you reached out, wiping the icing from her lip with your thumb and putting it in your mouth, humming with delight. miyeon stared at you, wide-eyed and panicked.

after that, you said your goodbyes, seeing another customer at the counter and your partner nowhere to be found. miyeon just stared at you while reaching up to touch her lips. 

miyeon never curses. 

well, she does, but without your name at the end.

and she can only think of one phrase right now.

fuck you, y/n.

miyeon was never able to complete her five other works after that encounter. she just stared at the laptop, moving her eyes every now and then but remaining motionless. you were concerned about what happened, so when your shift finally fucking ended (your words, not the author's), you walked over to her and put your hand on her shoulders, causing her to jump.

"hey, are you tired?" you asked with worried eyes.

and miyeon swore she had fallen in love with you all over again.

the girl nodded, too out of it, and you assisted her in packing her belongings. you were actually doing all of the work, but you didn't mind.

"hey!" you called over to your partner, who yelled back in response. "close up for me?"

he simply gave you a thumbs up, seemingly wiggling his brows from behind the door and openly supporting you, prompting you to respond with a smile. you helped miyeon out of her seat and carried all of her belongings home.

it was dark outside and the light posts provided the necessary illumination. because it was late, the crickets were quite loud in your ears and the occasional car zooming past you two filled the silence between you and miyeon.

you were concerned that miyeon had overexerted herself or that you had done something wrong because she was too quiet, too quiet in your opinion. you waited patiently for her to say something because she appeared to be thinking things through, but you were too worried to wait any longer.

"miyeon-ah?" miyeon hummed in response, resting her head on your shoulders. wrapping your free arm around the girl's waist, you supported her weight. "everything okay?"

for a brief moment, she remained silent, one hand reaching up to grasp the hem of your top. you expected her to take longer to respond, but she did so quickly, and it wasn't the response you expected.

"do you like minnie?"

you came to a halt, forcing her to do the same. miyeon closed her eyes as you both stood there, thinking she had finally caught you. 

to be honest, she didn't notice because you concealed your feelings so well. you even kept it from your best friend.

cho miyeon.

and miyeon is torn between being happy because you unintentionally made her like you a little longer or angry because you made her fall hard for you.

"i should be the one asking you that."

miyeon pulled away to look at you with wide eyes, a slightly disgusted expression on her face brought on by the idea of her dating minnie. "are you mad?"

you shrugged and averted your gaze. "well, it sure looked like it after class yesterday."

so that's why you scoffed.

miyeon shook her head frantically. "you can have her. i don't like her like that."

you returned your gaze to her. "why would i?"

miyeon gave you a confused look. "because you like her?"

"i like her?"

"you don't?"

if anyone else saw you like that, they'd be weirded out, and if the girls were there, they'd smash your heads together at how stupid you both were.

you laughed. "no, no. i don't like her like that. you can have her."

you ignored how your heart broke after saying it. you were on the verge of crying, so you couldn't wait to drop miyeon off at her house and sprint back home to sob into your pillow. you patted her on the back and encouraged her to walk. 

however, miyeon's hand shot up to meet yours, fingers wrapping around your wrist. you looked at her, shocked to see her determined expression.

"i don't like minnie."

your mouth formed the letter 'o'. "so, what's the issue?"

even though you were relieved to hear that, you were perplexed as to what this was all about if you both didn't like minnie in that way. so you looked at miyeon for an answer. she hesitated, but when she saw your puzzled expression, she took a deep breath.

"i have feelings for you."

you both stared at each other, miyeon waiting for an answer and you too stunned to speak. she silently begged you to say something, anything, even if it was to reject her, because she couldn't tell what you were thinking right now.

meanwhile, you were short-circuiting like a robot after someone accidentally dumped water on your metallic body, causing shocks to yourself. that was the most unexpected thing miyeon could have said to you. so you needed some time to think about it.

miyeon, on the other hand, was about to cry due to your lack of response.

"please say something?" miyeon whimpered, squeezing your wrist.

you finally snapped out of it and charged forward to grab her in your arms. miyeon hugged you, hoping this wasn't the last time. she cried at the thought and you held her, gently swaying her under the moonlight.

"for me?" you whispered in her ear.

she nodded. "for you."

there weren't any butterflies in your stomach. there was a whole damn zoo celebrating in it as your cheeks flushed. it felt surreal, but miyeon's close embrace grounded you.

you tried to pull away, but the girl quickly shook her head, tightening her grip. you whispered assurances into the night, and miyeon, albeit hesitantly, drew back while maintaining her grip on you.

"i have feelings for you, too." you announced, voice as gentle as the cool breeze of the night caressing miyeon's cheeks, as if telling her to wipe her tears away.

miyeon sniffled. "for me?"

"for you." you confirmed, grinning, and wiped her cheeks. "since the first day of college, when you tripped right onto me."

miyeon giggled at the memory. she'd be embarrassed if someone else brought up that subject. not of you, but of herself. but since you were the one who remembered it, she's fine with it.

you took her chin, hesitantly, as you looked into her eyes for consent, which was answered when miyeon pulled you in. you melted right into her as your lips caressed one another, the star-studded night sky shining brighter than ever.

you were out of breath when you pulled away, and you looked lovingly at miyeon as she rested her brow on yours. you both remained silent, savoring each other's warmth, inhaling each other's perfume, becoming one beneath the night sky.

"would you like to stay the night?"

you gave her a smile. "can you tell me about a time when i said no to you?"

miyeon laughed and kissed you again before yanking you in the direction of her house.

you’d wake up in the morning expecting to see her still asleep beside you but the sheets would be cold and empty. and for the shortest amount of time you’d be disappointed that she wasn’t there. only until she opens the door and tells you to wake up and brush your teeth and get dressed. she doesn’t even let you ask any questions and when you do she ignores them.

and when you enter the main room of your apartment you see that she put out a red gingham blanket. soyeon went out while you were sleeping and got all of your favorite fruits and vegetables and cheeses and crackers and made a charcuterie board. she bought both of your favorite dishes and desserts for later.

you’d stare in disbelief at first then you’d thank her a thousand times over. she’d tell you she hoped it made up for it being able to go out in public and you would make sure she knew that it definitely did.

she’d scrunch her nose in disgust when you ate raw vegetables— swatting your hands away when you try to give her one too. you’d tease her to no end when she has to ask you to open her drink because she can’t get it. the both of you would take pictures to remember the moment, it’s not much to some but it’s everything to you two.
