Bruno Mars: 24K Magic Tour
Bruno Mars: 24K Magic Tour
What are the chances of getting a 2×1 gig ticket twice in a lifetime? Extremely odd, I should say. BUT the Gig Gods were massively good to me and gave me the opportunity to watch Bruno Mars AND Nick Jonas together. And I know what you’re thinking: “getting hyped for Nick Jonas? Can’t relate.” Well, turns out I had one of those frightening super-stan phases where I was obsessedwith the Jonas…

Gigs and Drinks: Festival Edition II
Gigs and Drinks: Festival Edition II
Tumblr media
Welcome back to another edition of Gigs and Drinks! You know I luuuuuv semi-dying of thirst and lack of air more often than not, which is why I have to attend at least once a year a big festival.
I believe you’ll enjoy this one though; it’s one of my favourite editions because I got to see almost every act front row. (!!!)
So, without further ado, the performers:
Delorentos
A…

Gigs and Drinks: Festival Edition IV
Gigs and Drinks: Festival Edition IV
And we’re back with another edition of Gigs and Drinks! This time though was a different kind: a one-day, two-stages-only festival. Pros: you get to see every act because there’s no way they can happen at the same time. Cons: each set was limited, meaning no band could surpass their set time. I saw most of the bands from afar (essentially because the POV from every angle was great) and only three…

Pablo Alborán: Prometo Tour
Pablo Alborán: Prometo Tour
Is it weird the fact that I am not a fan of this bloke yet I find myself going to a gig of his AGAIN? I have a good reason though: my best friend is a massive fan and somehow I won a pair of tickets to see his show so you know I had to take her. I wrote about him from the perspective of a production crew here, but this time I was a simple attendee.
Our tickets were pretty close to the stage,…

Gigs and Drinks: Festival Edition III
Gigs and Drinks: Festival Edition III
And we’re back with another Festival Edition on Gigs and Drinks! This edition though is different from the previous ones: for the first time ever I ventured to not one but TWO WHOLE FEST DAYS! woot woot! Sure you can imagine how devastated and unbelievably tired I finished after a fun-filled weekend but since I know it’s been too long *wink wink*let’s get this party started with the performers:

Gigs and Drinks: The Petite Venue Edition I
Gigs and Drinks: The Petite Venue Edition I
Just as much as I love attending big festivals, I’m also a massive fan of small, personal gigs where the artist interacts in a much closer way with their audience. In this edition of Gigs and Drinks, two up-and-coming artists with a small-venue performance:
Charlie Rodd
Yes, the same guest artist from Jake Bugg’s gig. The greatest thing about up-and-coming artists is how pure and true they…

Behind the Scenes: Pablo Alborán
Behind the Scenes: Pablo Alborán
Have I ever told you what I do for a living? I’m actually an Entertainment and Media Business Manager, which means sometimes it can have its perks and this gig was definitely one of them.
I had the opportunity to be part of Pablo Alborán’s staff during his Terral Tour, and my duties included catering and production (woo!).
It’s pretty exciting to watch an artist live, but it’s a wonderful…

Two Door Cinema Club: Gameshow Tour
Two Door Cinema Club: Gameshow Tour
Yes, you read that right: another TDCC post. And no, I feel no shame.
As I’ve told you before, I’ve had the pleasure of watching these lads live on several occasions and it just gets better each time.
Gameshow, the band’s third project, was a refreshing new start. After a four year hiatus, where, according to Alex Trimble, they tried to put out more music but realised nothing was…

Today’s Jam
So, I woke up this morning with a specific melody in mind: a jazz-infused pop banger from the album A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships. If you guessed the tune, give yourself a nice pat on the head; today is all about sincerity:

Jake Bugg: On My One Tour
Jake Bugg: On My One Tour
Have you ever had a dream where two of your top artists get together for a gig and the poster comes out and it’s perfect but then reality hits and you realise it was just another illusion? Well, this isn’t the case.
Jake Bugg announced a massive tour for his third project with special guests varying from city to city. Luckily for me, his opening act for this particular gig was an up-and-coming…

Two Door Cinema Club: Surprise Reappearance
Two Door Cinema Club: Surprise Reappearance
Remember I told you I’ve seen my favourite band every time they’ve had a gig near my hometown? Well, this was round two.
And if you’re wondering why on Earth I’ve called this one “Surprise Reappearance”: Two Door Cinema Club went on a 4-year-long hiatus after their sophomore album Beacon, only dropping a 4-songs-long EP called Changing of the Seasons in 2013 without any tour or dates to…

Thirty Seconds To Mars: Love, Lust, Faith + Dreams Tour
One of the greatest perks of being so small is the fact that you can fit basically anywhere, which is specially nice at gigs because you can be at the front without disturbing anyone, just enjoying a great show… or so I thought.
Thirty Seconds to Mars is a band well-known for getting fans on stage, giving them the opportunity to live up-close and personal the whole show. Apparently, everyone knew…

Events Frenzy!
You know there comes a time in your life where you get mesmerised by something so much that you know you have to keep doing it forever? That’s basically what happened to me back in 2012. I’d been to a couple gigs before, both with my then best friend, but with only 11 years of life I didn’t truly enjoyed them.
I developed “gig fever” a bit later, at a Rod Stewart concert to be exact. It wasn’t my first time at a concert, but it was the first one I fully appreciated. This particular gig stuck with me not only because of its sentimental value (it was the first father-daughter bonding moment outside our hometown) but because it’s where I discovered my greatest passion. I fell in love with the whole experience: from the queueing, the waiting, buying the tickets together; to the show, the lightning, the production and the setlist. The moment I left the venue I knew that I had to keep on doing this until I couldn’t possibly move. And even then, I’m pretty sure I’d force whoever I’m with to take me to another gig in my bloody wheelchair.
Fast forward to 2018, and not only I am still spending every paycheck on tickets for any gig, I also graduated from Entertainment and Media Business Management just to be able to learn more about what’s behind the scenes of a great show. Every event I attend is a whole new experience and I wanted to share it so others can appreciate it too.
And thus, Gig Fever was born. This is a bunch of reviews not just of events and gigs, but also of music, artists and experiences, all from the perspective of a very petite woman.
Who will I see next? xx

Memory Lane:
Dublin-based Irish alternative rock band Delorentos delivered an instant classic back in 2009 with this brilliant tune.

Sam Smith: In The Lonely Hour Tour
Sam Smith: In The Lonely Hour Tour
Although many of us relate melancholy and soul with Sam Smith, it was quite a surprise when his set was all about rhythm and colour.
The gig took place at a festival; he was still an up-and-coming artist but known enough to be put in a middle-ground set time. A lot of us were waiting from a while back and to top it off, 20 minutes before his set was due to begin, heavy rain started which only led…
