Live Concert Photography: Lisa LeBlanc at Groove 12/6/23 Last week, I caught Rosaireville, New Brunswick-born, Montréal-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Lisa LeBlanc play a high energy, career-spanning set at Groove that included her ripping, “trash folk” cover of Motörhead’s “Ace of Spades,” as well as material off her acclaimed third album, last year’s Chiac Disco, which…

Lauren Ruth Ward’s new music video “Wise Girl” is the sugar-sweet sucker punch you need to kick start the weekend.
Anyone who is familiar is Ward’s work knows that there are a few key things you can expect: killer vocals, pointed lyrics, and a compelling melody to blend it all together.
“Wise Girl,” combined with the visions of directors Nicol Biesek and Dri Sommer, takes you down the rabbit hole in a Sylvia Plath inspired fever dream that’s infused with Wes Anderson color palettes and cinematic visuals.
Even better is the way Ward’s voice effortlessly aches and yearns over some of her most sickeningly sweet lyrics yet. “I was afraid of my demons, but now we’re shaking hands,” she sings while hypnotically destroying a 1960’s powder blue kitchen that is full of oddities like an egg carton that contains only Barbie doll heads. Her words are steeped in a wisdom that only comes from a place of true self-actualization; the ultimate act of rebellion.
“I am a wise gal should told you, woulda told you if you would’ve listened to me speaking about all my dreaming. Aw that’s okay, I only know my half of the half.”
The lyrics, music, and storytelling fuse together in perfect harmony to showcase an artist that is truly at the top of their game. Her unabashed sense of self is infectious to any listener and is sure to insight rebellion those who dare to lend an ear.
The fact is, if this video is any reference to what we have to look forward with her future releases, then we are in for quite a treat.

Letter to Tori Amos
1-19-21 Tori Amos c/o Girlie Action Media 243 W 30th St, New York, NY 10001 Kindly forward to Tori Amos, thank you in advance : ). DEAR MS. AMOS, I hope this letter finds you and your family well, healthy and happy. Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Steven Orr (artist name “Saintorr”).
For many years I have never considered myself to be a fan of anyone, excepting myself! Back in my teenage years, I was deeply entranced, hypnotized, addicted to and inspired by Laura Nyro, Joni Mitchell, Chuck Mangione (at certain times) and I wept when Janis died (so you see I’ve got some years on me LOL!). Then the Disco years came and I discovered dancing LOL! However I am writing this letter to you to tell you how deeply you have touched me with your “Reindeer King” song. Even now I can easily come to tears with the audio memory of the track playing in my head. Oh, the depths of musical beauty, prosody and wisdom in that song! Thank you for this tremendously powerful gift of music. So there it is, I have become a forever fan of you! That is the gist of this whole letter. If you would like to read on, please do!
I am a bodyworker, M4M masseur, songwriter/musician and published writer living in New York. Two nights ago I was watching the interview you did (I believe the location was NYC?) with the lovely blond lady more than a year ago just before your “Native Invader” tour. You touched me deeply, especially when you spoke of the muses and how you listened to them. The cynic in me suddenly took note! You opened my eyes to listening to MY OWN muse! I think when I was younger I listened more and currently, especially the past two years I have begun to listen again. Anyway this letter is more a tribute/missive to you, not so much about me.
The magic, grace, power and beauty of your “Reindeer King” made and continues to make a lasting impression on me. I was even thinking about doing a cover of it. What an honor it would be to have you listen! Thank you for this gorgeous song. Further, thank you for being you. An artist, creative spirit, intuitive power-magical-wizard witch—for inspiring me and reminding me all the possibilities of music! Not to mention the boundless joy you are brave enough to share with your millions of fans. Thank goodness Higher Power led me to rediscover you in all your gorgeous, talented complexities.
I am also a survivor of sexual abuse from my Mother. This is way too much info. But I wanted to share that with you, and tell you that I empathize with your experiences in that area of life experiences. Also, I too was, at one point in my life, “a singing lampshade.” In my early years of being in New York, nothing could possibly make me happier than becoming a so-called “Professional musician.” And after reaching my goal, it then took me about a decade to recover from the professional music world and re-discover my love of music. LOL! (Be careful what you wish for, eh?) Your time and experience speaks worlds of your strength in being able to keep with it. I envy that and so respect your sheer strength and force of spirit.
In the interview you mentioned you do read letters from fans. I hope you read this. I hope you realize the depth of your power to inspire others even on an almost mystical level. And no I’m not a stalking so don’t worry about that! I’m more a ferocious, dancing queen, trans type, a survivor and a broken warrior who is singing and loving music while I walk my way slowly toward the rainbow bridge at this golden time/point in my life.
And of course now a word from our sponsor (my “Saintorr muse”)... I co-wrote a gorgeous song called “Keeping Distance” online now.  My buddy and collaborator Fuentes de Vida is the artist on the recording. You can find the track in on my Youtube channel... https://youtu.be/mZqad3493AA
or Google my YouTube channel stevenorr54, that’s another way to find my channel but the link above will take you directly to our song. It’s a love song for those we have lost during these dark times and a monument to not being able to touch our loved ones or witness their last breath; but still being able to find peace strength and hope in the knowing that even though we cannot touch, the love goes on, infinitely, eternally... If you are interested too, excerpts from my novel “Comfort” may be found here. https://comfortbysaintorr.wordpress.com/
God bless and may you and your family, friends and loved ones be safe and secure in these “Twilight Zone” times. All the best, Steven Orr “Saintorr” NYCMASSEUR.COM

JOHN CAMERON MITCHELL BY MIGUEL VILLALOBOS
TURNING TIME AROUND
John Cameron Mitchell & Eyelids . Turning Time Around EP . From JCM: Lou Reed is probably my favorite musical artist. Hal Willner and Laurie Anderson asked me and my "Anthem: Homunculus" composer Bryan Weller to sing "Turning Time Around" (from Lou's album Ecstasy) and my favorite Velvet Underground ballad "I Found a Reason" at a special Lou Reed Day at Lincoln Center. I extrapolated on Lou's melody and, inspired by performance artist Justin Vivian Bond, mashed it up with WB Yeats' poem "The Second Coming" rewriting "what rough beast slouches towards Bethlehem to be born" as "what orange beast..." Who could that refer to I wonder? My buddy Chris Slusarenko, who produced our Hedwig tribute album "Wig in a Box", invited me to sing Turning with his wonderful Portland Oregon band Eyelids. Bryan suggested we record it as a benefit disc for my Mom's Alzheimer's care. We added "I Found" and my late boyfriend Jack Steeb's favorite Lou song "Waves of Fear" (Jack used to work for Lou). REM guitarist Peter Buck hopped on as producer, Hedwig designer #MiguelVillalobos came up with killer cover art and here we are! I love Eyelids and Lou and my Mom and I hope you will too. . JBR is representing the LIME edition . Eyelids are representing the BUBBLEGUM edition . JCM is representing the MAROON edition . Limited to 500 copies each. . #johncameronmitchell #musicofeyelids #jealousbutcher #destinationuniverse #rem @Johnclarkphoto #girlieaction #miguelvillalobosnyc #junctioncitymercantile #peterbuck #loureed #velvetunderground #turningtimearound #wavesoffear #ifoundareason  #ifyouseesomething#nyc #statueofliberty #ladyliberty

New Show added Today 2pm-4pm bombshellradio.com Thursday's 2pm-3pm EST 11pm-12pm PDT 7pm-8pm BST bombshellradio.com stereoembersmagazine.com Stereo Embers Magazine #StereoEmbers, #podcast, #RadioShow, #AlexGreen, #Alternative , #NewMusic ,#Nowplaying, #BombshellRadio,Wardell "The Impossible Falcon Flies" And it almost didn't. Although the brother/sister duo Wardell, which is comprised of Theo and Sasha Spielberg, had a ton of momentum with their debut album Love/Idleness in early 2015, the follow-up took years to make and it almost didn't happen. But thank god it did. Titled Impossible Falcon, the band's new long player is a bewitching blend of mesmerizing indie pop and dreamy ballads that rank it among the best albums of 2019. In this engaging and spirited interview, Theo and Sasha talk to Alex about why they went off the radar for a spell, why their was a delay between albums and why Wardell is more in control of their artistic direction than ever. They also talk about The Cocteau Twins, sounding French and why breakups yield such great material.... @jasperpr @bombshell_radio @girlieaction @pamleto Read the full article

New Video: JOVM Mainstays Elephant Stone Share Breezy and Nostalgia-Inducing "Another Year Gone"
New Video: JOVM Mainstays Elephant Stone Share Breezy and Nostalgia-Inducing "Another Year Gone" @elephantstonehq @FuzzClub @NoExitPR @girlieaction @delkin03 @littlecloudrec1 @wally_kempton
2023 has been a busy year for Montréal-based JOVM mainstays Elephant Stone: Earlier this year they released Dawn, Day, Dusk, which featured “Godstar,” and “The Imajinary, Nameless Everybody In The World.” Those two tracks saw the band continuing their narrative journey through crating material that deftly balanced human complexity with introspective themes paired with an evolving sound. Shout Out for Shout Louder
Big Signal Boost today for Shout Louder webzine. Self-descried as “a music zine for punks who don’t like papercuts”, this UK based publication posts music industry interviews, reviews, and opinion pieces. I find their reviews, particularly of live music, to be a highlight if you’re interested in anything punk, hardcore, folk, ska, or indie. Their standard and guest writers aren’t afraid to get personal, and the casual attitude of the writing only makes everything come across as all the more genuine. They have a regular campaign under #mentallysound where they discuss mental health in music, with contributors ranging from musicians and producers to gig-heads and fans. They’re also pro-feminist and with true punk attitude aren’t afraid to speak out against the laws, governments, and people that don’t live up to their standards (i.e. this #solidaritynotsilence op on the Johnny Fox case.
With feminist morals, a focus on mental health, and all the insider punk music you can dream of, this zine lands at the top of my list. You might know them from their podcast too, but unfortunately they haven’t released a new episode this year.
